Use Golden Order seal and Prince of Death’s staff. They’re the best conduits in the game (apart from dragon communion at 99 faith and arcane) if you have the stats for them.
for the three ghost soldiers, you better off with the axe that casts this. you swing your axe to attack first and it combo’s with the three skeletons. its relatively faster than the spell you get it from a stonekey door i don’t remember where tho
the music volume spike at the 6minute mark is a bit much, made it hard to hear whats being said. Also i love the death magic and i will build for it when i do my Death rune ending run
I really wish they would have added a necromancy system complete with seals/ staffs, dedicated talismans and full on incantations/sorceries. The spirits are nice but you can only use them in a specific places and only last in bosses till it or the boss dies
Death Sorceries are one of the few instances in the game where the Weapon Art Versions are superior in every way. Just give me Death's Poker, Family Heads, and Rusus's Axe and I'll swap between them to do inflict damage. And throw in Helphen's Steeple and Death Ritual Spear to do stuff you can't even do with the spells.
Saaaaame. I swapped over to a thorn sorcery build and it's fun but... I just end up using Rivers of Blood 80% of the time because it's so damn good and I don't have a lot of options for good spells to use once enemies have engaged me.
A good melee replacement for Explosive Ghostfire would be Death's Poker. The unique skill leaves trails of Ghostflame that persist longer and also gives you the option of creating a point-blank explosion to punish enemies for closing the distance. It also staggers pretty well.
I'm nearing 80/80 on my int faith build that uses the pods and seal of order in off hand and then sword of night and flame with a Misericorde with bloodhounds. It's been a really fun build so far with a lot of options, but doesn't really work well until lvl 170-180 when you can hit your caps while also having a manageable amount of vigor and mind. Requires a lot of weapon swapping for buffing/casting but having bloodhounds and night and flame just a swap away gives you lots of options that are very effective for an all in int/faith build. The only death spell I really use is the ancient death. The rest are useless or really need some adjustments to be viable.
I love elden ring cause of the freedom the game gives you when making classes one thing I hope is that in a future update they give us the ability to powerstance crossbows and maybe even add some scaling to them because early game they are great but they tend to fall off come mid/late game the addition of powerstancing or scaling would fix that
Almost time to update this video. 8 patches in and the spells in this kit have only gotten better with polish. Less cost, better tracking, recovery and damage! Good times.
I love how in this game faith has some as cool and as powerful spells as intellect. Like u can be a pure op mage or a faith mage and you will still look cool while doing big damage.
Tibia's Summons are amazing for bosses. They do a massive amount of stagger damage. If you can keep semi long range they can keep a boss staggered nicely. Or interrupt attacks.
At 2:28 (Ancient Death Rancor) this spell is incredible. With a high cast time speed mage build you can keep spamming it none stop if you have the prince of death staff and faith and Int build, also with less mana cost talisman and high FP you can keep spamming it until bosses health bars Disappears. That is crazy as it sounds. It’s becoming my go to spell.
Really? I've been building my INT/FAI since I started and just now found out through this video my Death Rancor had a more powerful and advanced version through Ancient Death Rancor. I'll try it after beating up the death bird and taking it's lunch money to up my level.
@@Edgydreamerr Absolutely! Still acquiring better talismans to give better advantages to my build. Thankfully I've finished leveling up my INT and now I am working towards leveling up Faith, Mind, and Vigor. Pieces that increase those attributes would surely come in handy.
Ok last comment, at higher levels near the end of a first play through or partway into NG+ you'll have enough stats to make the Prince of Death Staff outperform Lusat's with no drawback, especially for Death spells. Double A-scaling INT/FAITH is no joke. If you have 80 in both, achievable with levels and/or trinkets, your sorcery scaling will be somewhere around 435 before the bonus whereas Lusat's caps out just above 400 and provides a smaller bonus. I rocked a "necromancer" build for a while pre level 200 using only Prince of Death and it was quite effective. The real downside is that the Rancor spells absolutely suck at hitting close targets with a small hitbox, which makes things like aggressive melee humanoids and dogs an absolute nightmare. Adula's moonblade or something similar is an absolute must for when small things get in your face.
Sure you can make it work but 80 Faith and 80 Int is like 130 levels minimum investment depending on what class you started. Which gives you 70 levels to split between Vigor, Mind and endurance. At lv 200 at the end of your first playthrough, you don't need prince of death staff to maximize your output. While you can hit max Lusat at a much lower level than 200 without 80 investment in 2 stats.
I did not grind on my first play through and ended just shy of 200. Before I entered NG+ my Prince of Death's staff was outperforming Lusat's for all sorceries. I did a lot of dungeon exploring and killing of side bosses, multiplayer with friends (which can net a lot of runes), et cetera.
Except that there's also a seal that scales A/A off INT/FAITH, so not only were my sorceries hitting harder than with Lusat's, but I had a solid seal for buffing/healing/utility and any other incantations worth using. I wore light armor so my endurance was like 15. And, when your spells don't cost 50% more you don't need as much mind, the rest went into vigor. I also used bloodhound step to help with not getting hit since I was squishy (I advanced to NG+ before I ever learned about the RKR bug).
My "Necromancer" character 70/70 INT/FAI Left hand: prince of death staff Right hand: godslayer seal Spells: Ancient death rancor Incantations: Black flames (sometimes I use death lightning or black blade for fun) But I usually only keep 1 of each to make spell swapping easier and faster. I feel like death spells need a slight buff, particularly ADR and Tibia summons. Also Ghost flame takes way too long to wind up like alot of cool spells... Very unfortunate.
Death spells and black flame I wish was buffed a little. Id like to start and finish the game with just dark looking moves with out running to the end of the game for crazy spells or leveling to 100 plus to feel powerful.
@@demonintellect9834 I meant all of the Dark flame incantations. I do think black flame is good but I made a character that only uses black flame moves and I’m only using black flame because the other moves either don’t cast fast enough for how close I need to get or don’t do enough damage to feel like it’s worth only using black flame moves. I’d like it if they got buffed some how just like I think thunder bolt is good but all the other lighting abilities could use a increase in casting speed or damage depending on the move.
Ancient Death Rancor is amazing for its constant stagger. It even gives Malenia a tough time. I think it’s worth a re-spec to use it, especially for that brutal boss fight. There’s another upside for boosting faith as a sorc and that’s opening up the use of cleanses for rot and poison.
I've had the little fires after Explosive Ghostflame absolutely melt bosses before. I think it kinda depends on their hitbox. I wonder if it might be worth casting after staggering an opponent instead of going for a crit.
This is just what I was thinking of doing for my INT/FAI build. Use the great sword phalanx spell as a counter offense to break poise when engaged in close range combat followed by Explosive Ghostflame; or Astiel's Wing AoW to break poise (VERY GOOD at breaking poise) followed by Expl. Ghostflame. Plenty of good chaining starters and finisher options for Spellblades.
@@schishne7546 do you have your int AND faith high? These spells need both so both int and faith need to be high and I think there's something weird where it scales better if both of them stay within 5-10 levels of eachother
I combine the prince of death staff with Death's poker along with using the Regal Omen Barin item. Then you can use the death sorceries as well and I include Rykard's Rancor spell in there for the theme. Overall it's the idea of it and it looks really cool to cause so many explosions.
@@SargatoVerse i did include rykards rancor although its not a death sorcery, the deaths poker scaled with stength and dex so that weapons was rather meh, the family heads weapon art seems to scalr with int but not with its main dex scaling, and the other weapons were just meh in general...i hope there are more deathbirds we didnt discover yet that have more spells or weapons

I really wish people would test the spells out not on the first area you come to in the game, of course everything die there… I was killing that stuff with an unupgraded Estoc…
Wow, I’ve beat the game 3 times, with 3 different builds, spent over 700 hours total doing so, and there are 2 death birds I had zero knowledge of…awesome!
A note on the three summoned skeletons, there is an axe that does that exact spell for it's ash of war that you can use instead for a melee hybrid play style for death sorceries.
Funny enough the champions were there but fia was not because rodgier had died so I never did the earlier steps of the quest. You get the spell after defeating them anyway if she isn’t there (she will eventually move there after you set the end of the game in motion though so this quest-line can literally only break if you decide to kill fia after she moves out of the roundtable safe zone).
There's actually a shortcut to the first one. I'm amazed youtubers haven't found or shown it yet, you always do the long way. You can simply drop from a ledge 3 times after exiting a room with a grace site and you're in the scarab area.
They must have reduced the cost of the Rancors as basic is 14 and Ancient is 24 for me. I've gone down the Death Sorcery route and they do have utility. In particular because you raise your staff in the air you can cast them from behind barriers and they track downwards which I've used numerous times to kill stuff. Not Found a use for Tibias but I read the comment below abuot it being a good stancebreaker but I suspect I'm a bit too far in now for that to be useful. I'm literally about to try fight the Death Rite Bird for Ghostflame so hopeful that will be good.
Ghostflame is good if you know it'll finish off the opponent particularly big slow bosses, not good in pvp because it's easy to dodge and even easier to punish, unless you are invading and sneak up on them in someway for what could essentially be a one shot.
If you are struggling with these guys then try using holy/sacred damage. Most probably already know this, but for those who don’t, undead are weak to holy/sacred.
When my friend and I first went to the Deathtouched Catacombs, we thought you had to use holy damage to keep the skeletons down for good. It wasn’t until we came back with a holy weapon that we realized you just need to double tap them.
Feels like these are better for a melee character wielding an ice weapon and can partly use sorceries. The rancor spells are homing slowly so the opponent will either have to roll repeatedly or guard. And if they roll you can catch them with your melee weapon or if they guard you can easily break their stance and crit them. And the explosion is probably best used on very large bosses and enemies that can get knocked down from the explosion (gives you time to recover from the animation too).
Idk if this helps but rancorcall is a distance based attack being far away and they will all attack the same enemy be to close and they’ll straggle off
Love ya guys, Subb'd cuz your content is on point, guides are concise and accurate, and everything you all do is so dang entertaining... BUT CAN YOU PLEASE USE A TORCH/LATERN IN PITCH-BLACK AREAS (sorry for caps lol, keep up the good work). Had to go to a different guide for some of these cuz I just can't see where you're going. PS. Maybe a touch slower on the FF when in winding-twisting places, can't keep up w/o pausing literally each second.
It's better to use death prince staff, because it scales higher then lusat's staff. You need points in faith and intellect 70/70int&faith on death prince staff does more then lusat's staff at 70int. Cherry on top no 50% cost increase for spells
Despite it's similarities to the other rancor spells, Rykard's Rancor is not a death sorcery and doesn't get a buff from Prince of Death's Staff (though it's still ok to have and use)
Hello RageGamingVideos thank you for making videos that are funny and exciting while also promoting exploring stuff without spoiling the whole thing its amazing.
you can easily beat the game spamming nothing but Ancient Death Rancor..it's stupid good and you can get 4-5 casts off and on the way to the boss while its distracted with your ghost friends. Just starts melting and gets its stance broken before it can even get to you. It's not as stupid broken as some well known spells and weapons, but it's definately very good.
Yeah… after my 1st run is FINALLY done, I want to use these and the Golden Oder incants (which scale with int too) and the briar sorceries.. (Spoilers… kinda less important but still late game) I wanna make a “Sir Gideon if he went heretical” kinda build… then again, he did seemingly learn something from Rykard that is a bit curious… he is the all knowing I guess? Also, I think there is a talisman that lowers critical dmg taken, but I could be making this up in my head so maybe look into it

for the three ghost soldiers, you better off with the axe that casts this. you swing your axe to attack first and it combo’s with the three skeletons. its relatively faster than the spell you get it from a stonekey door i don’t remember where tho
the music volume spike at the 6minute mark is a bit much, made it hard to hear whats being said.
Also i love the death magic and i will build for it when i do my Death rune ending run
I had to ceck if I had a video open in another tab ahahah

gosh makes sense why sorcery’s are so op 😂
I love how each spell has its own rune. The half centipede curse mark appears.
I really wish they would have added a necromancy system complete with seals/ staffs, dedicated talismans and full on incantations/sorceries. The spirits are nice but you can only use them in a specific places and only last in bosses till it or the boss dies
They have the prince of death staff which buffs this sorcery I'm pretty sure
Death Sorceries are one of the few instances in the game where the Weapon Art Versions are superior in every way. Just give me Death's Poker, Family Heads, and Rusus's Axe and I'll swap between them to do inflict damage. And throw in Helphen's Steeple and Death Ritual Spear to do stuff you can't even do with the spells.
so which one of those is comparable to Ancient Death Rancor
@@keiharris332 none
Plus none of those weapons are compatible with int/fth since they only scale with int. int/fth hybrid has really been trashed in elden ring.
Im a huge fan of the death and thorn sorcery but i wish they added at least a couple more thorn spells
Honestly, I personally think the first DLC is going to be related to Mohgs brother so there is a fair chance you'll see some more at some point.
@@Sabamonster i really hope you are right
@@Sabamonster Why do we need a dlc on Margott?
@@Sabamonster do you mean miquelle
It also staggers pretty well.
cant figure out how to leave the ghost flame trails
I'm nearing 80/80 on my int faith build that uses the pods and seal of order in off hand and then sword of night and flame with a Misericorde with bloodhounds.
It's been a really fun build so far with a lot of options, but doesn't really work well until lvl 170-180 when you can hit your caps while also having a manageable amount of vigor and mind. Requires a lot of weapon swapping for buffing/casting but having bloodhounds and night and flame just a swap away gives you lots of options that are very effective for an all in int/faith build.
The only death spell I really use is the ancient death. The rest are useless or really need some adjustments to be viable.
for the explosion death bird, you can stand on a cliff 2 levels up (near the church) and pelt him with rocks and he won't come after you
A video about every death birds and black knights would be great ! And maybe about most of the littles bugs that drops ashes of war and spells ^^
Yeah I would definitely really enjoy an all nighttime boss video to help find them all.
The cooler looking spells all require faith. Int alone only gets you glintstone and gravity magic.
@@m.acosta8774 yea😅. But be carful what I said is like a build so you have to use some other talismans to your advantage.
@@Edgydreamerr
Absolutely! Still acquiring better talismans to give better advantages to my build. Thankfully I've finished leveling up my INT and now I am working towards leveling up Faith, Mind, and Vigor. Pieces that increase those attributes would surely come in handy.
@@m.acosta8774 yeah cheers on that. I’ve worked hard on mine too😅. Good luck
You will not be near 80/80 near the end lol... or even midway ng+, unless you grind a LOT.
My "Necromancer" character
70/70 INT/FAI
Left hand: prince of death staff
Right hand: godslayer seal
Spells: Ancient death rancor
Incantations: Black flames (sometimes I use death lightning or black blade for fun)
But I usually only keep 1 of each to make spell swapping easier and faster.
I feel like death spells need a slight buff, particularly ADR and Tibia summons. Also Ghost flame takes way too long to wind up like alot of cool spells... Very unfortunate.
I feel like all death spells need a buff, it be nice to have death spell armor
Death's Poker Ashes of War is honestly stronger than all the spells and int boosts it
@@cheerguyami which is sad
Use golden order seal instead of godslayer as it scales with both int/faith
Death spells and black flame I wish was buffed a little. Id like to start and finish the game with just dark looking moves with out running to the end of the game for crazy spells or leveling to 100 plus to feel powerful.
Black flame is amazing. It does percentage based HP drain. Not sure what else you want it to do.
They buffed all death spells so I’m giving them a big try.
I've had the little fires after Explosive Ghostflame absolutely melt bosses before. I think it kinda depends on their hitbox. I wonder if it might be worth casting after staggering an opponent instead of going for a crit.
I know some of the biuld dont go for crit so it might
Would the old god talisman make the Ghostflame on the ground last longer?
@@cheerguyami I don't think so. Just improves potency afaik
I live for your into lol. That music is 🔥🔥🔥
bru ur videos are so entertaining. the voice be killing me. n good content too
I actually was just making a PvP build about this, I just got all the spells and the death prince staff +25 and it's so very awesome!
How the hell did you make it viable?! Mine sucked ass even using the prince of death staff and the sword of night and flame
@@schishne7546 do you have your int AND faith high? These spells need both so both int and faith need to be high and I think there's something weird where it scales better if both of them stay within 5-10 levels of eachother
@@rainygamedays5873 had them both at around 50
Have you discovered Radagans rings of light incantation yet? Its a good AOE spell for when you're surrounded!
those deaths spells are something to be reckon with.. i have the first two but seeking the others.. (btw - you had me rolling with some of the commentaries!!) keep up the good work!!!!
I've been looking for a way to complement my favorite weapon - Death's Poker. Thank you for this video!
5 OP spells... Proceeds to discribe a bunch of mediocre (if flavourful) spells
i thought you guys were underrated to me but then i forgot you’re almost at a mil
If you get the prince of death staff in the deep root depths it boosts death sorecery spells. It scales with intelligence and faith.
Thank you guys for so much content. Really really appreciate it.
Glad you made this video. I found out about death sorcery last night
The word OP has lost so much value
OP isn’t a word to begin with. OP is an abbreviation.
And the abbreviation OP hasn’t lost value, it has become overused by RUclipsrs trying to stand out from other RUclipsrs
I finally found you again I found you on Monster Hunter world and I love your content
A note on the three summoned skeletons, there is an axe that does that exact spell for it's ash of war that you can use instead for a melee hybrid play style for death sorceries.
It also does it faster and Hit's your Opponent too
Thank you this helps me find every secret in my first playthrough I plan to be Gideon the all knowing of this game
I subed to the channel just because i like your song at the end of the video. Or did i subed just for that? 🤘😂
As always, learned something new! Thank you
Love these videos Josh, I just really expected you to be the great sword or colossal sword expert in this game.
ty for not yelling at the start like you normally do
If you are struggling with these guys then try using holy/sacred damage.
Hope the DLC have more death sorceries and incantations
Feels like these are better for a melee character wielding an ice weapon and can partly use sorceries. The rancor spells are homing slowly so the opponent will either have to roll repeatedly or guard. And if they roll you can catch them with your melee weapon or if they guard you can easily break their stance and crit them. And the explosion is probably best used on very large bosses and enemies that can get knocked down from the explosion (gives you time to recover from the animation too).
enless they are using the broken, madness shield
This game really does give lots of love to spell casters
I'm pretty new to your page. Loving your content. What is your character wearing? I love it.
Idk if this helps but rancorcall is a distance based attack being far away and they will all attack the same enemy be to close and they’ll straggle off
Thanks this helped me get some spells i need
Wb death lighting by far the best name too ✨️
Is that walking coliseum supposed to not let you use to dupe? Is it a bug or normal?
you missed the 6 death spell, the one you get from rykar's rememberance
I don’t think it’s technically considered a death sorcery (but it would make sense if it was)
@@nathanflinchum1153 at least the death prince staff increases that spell damage, and staff says increase death magic that's why I said that

thanks i needed this to complete my God of Fiery Death build. Lots of damage over time and fire. Everything in the land between will burn😈
It's better to use death prince staff, because it scales higher then lusat's staff. You need points in faith and intellect 70/70int&faith on death prince staff does more then lusat's staff at 70int. Cherry on top no 50% cost increase for spells

@@K40005 oh? Well thanks I figured she would've just ended up dead automatically
I also count the spell you get from the Rykard remembrance. That makes this build infinitely better once you have it.
What is it?
Despite it's similarities to the other rancor spells, Rykard's Rancor is not a death sorcery and doesn't get a buff from Prince of Death's Staff (though it's still ok to have and use)
Getting off explosive ghost flame is like rolling a natural 20 in dnd

Me too
Your not missing out they r garbage
Dumb question. Are the death flames buffed by the fire physical faith incantation? Or is it not buffets since it deals frostbite.
you can easily beat the game spamming nothing but Ancient Death Rancor..it's stupid good and you can get 4-5 casts off and on the way to the boss while its distracted with your ghost friends. Just starts melting and gets its stance broken before it can even get to you. It's not as stupid broken as some well known spells and weapons, but it's definately very good.
Good video good format
Yeah… after my 1st run is FINALLY done, I want to use these and the Golden Oder incants (which scale with int too) and the briar sorceries..
(Spoilers… kinda less important but still late game)
I wanna make a “Sir Gideon if he went heretical” kinda build… then again, he did seemingly learn something from Rykard that is a bit curious… he is the all knowing I guess?
Also, I think there is a talisman that lowers critical dmg taken, but I could be making this up in my head so maybe look into it
I use the prince of death staff. The golden order seal…I was using the sword of night and flame but I was just killing everything way to easily (post patch) so I decided to level the blasphemous blade. Extremely strong build and can use incantations, spells and sword/melee and all are hitting really hard.
mate, post patch it become a garbage, how can one kill easily everything with it? it become so useless that I throw it away and moved to azure spell :(
Ah yes. A typical player. A slight nerf and something us automatically garbage xD
Aylia's arms must be tired after swinging all those monster hunter greats words that she has picked up a bunch of sticks in elden ring, scared by the shoulder dislocations that she refers to such players as mongrels of strength and dexterity, I mean these weapons don't even have great in front of their names Kappa
I like the suddenly uncalled for, deafening music drowning you out halfway through. :V
I didn’t do Fia’s quest line (I didn’t even know she had one), just killed her companions and I just got Fias Mist
I keep seeing people fuck up really simple jumps, i got a tip
The velocity/speed of your jump, doesn't change if you're crouching or not
So if you sprint while crouching, you'll still get your long jump, its just easier to aim it now :)
A proper Edgelord starter kit consists of the death spells, blasphemous blade OR deaths poker and the royal remains armor set or, anything that resembles a skull mask 👍
I'm fairly new to the game with only 50 hours or so, so please forgive my lack of knowledge in the map and exploration. I'm having trouble following your pathing. I've slowed the video down to .25x speed and still struggling to find the first spell. Is that intentional, or do you just expect the viewer to already know where to go?
They need to buff fias mist, I’ve gotten only 2 death blight procs with it when I had a death sorcery build I would mainly use it to make distance
changing to faith character, so many incantation, dragon stuffs, death stuffs...
and BTW explosive ghostflame is indeed usefull, I died to a pack of 4 dogs, that spell would saved me.
What armor are you wearing? Specifically arms and legs
To kill that Deathrite bird, spamming sacred blade ash of war does amazing wonders to kill it. It’s an easy ash of war and it’s ranged. Like moonviel but sacred.
at this point no i am not at the snow fields, i only just got both medallions and went up the bridge to the capital area, i bought the game a week or 2 after it was released and i have been taking it slow since i have been burning myself out of the vastness of Elden ring a few too many times already
Hahah ancient death rancorcall has been my 1st pick at any bosses. Just spam it and it melts their hp lol. In pvp its also hard to avoid even by rolling
What song is it, that you always play at the end of your vids?
