  • So I got the dreaded Triangle Exclamation Mark on my dash with a fault code of P00012. Called up our local dealer and was quoted over $2000 for a timing chain replacement. Paid $380 for the parts and did it myself (I am not a mechanic). It was surprisingly easier than the timing belts that I have done in the past (mazda, subaru).
    Hope this helps someone out there.
    Ill be getting some bolt on's soon so if anyone is interested I might do a video on them - Turbo upgrade, exhaust etc..

    Nice tutorial man ! :) I just got the dreaded triangle myself. I'm gonna order the parts and try to do it myself too, since the stealership is just damn too expansive. Mind if I trouble you with a few questions along the way !? Cheers !

    Interesting you didn't have to cherry pick the engine out. How did you manage to get all of those Pullies out to gere to the Timing Chain Case?

      Ik this late lol but you just remove the motor mount on that side and lift it up some and remove the 3 pulleys in the way

    • @TimTuimaseve
      @TimTuimaseve  8 лет назад

      +Freddy Mercado Hey, No I didnt change the oil pump chain etc. I only performed what is outlined in this video. While everything is out it would probably make sense to do what you can.

    hello there, i have a requestion. doesnt resetting the relearn value require a mut iii tool ? what is that fuse for? does it have the same result as pulling that fuse out andput it back in vs using mut iii? thanks , this is a great video. i am about to do this job my self as well. every input would be helpful

    • @TimTuimaseve
      @TimTuimaseve  7 лет назад

      sorry for the late response. Havent used this account for a while. There is a difference. I found when pulling the fuse the error would come back. When I took it to the mitsubishi dealer they reset it for free and it has not come back since.

    Do you have a scheme of the marks, how they should be at the chain installation including marks of the counter balancer chain?

      @TimTuimaseve  6 лет назад

      vitalij jurt there is another video on youtube somewhere where a mitsubishi expert shows you how to line the markings up.

  • @freddymercado5579
    @freddymercado5579 8 лет назад

    what up man questions did you have any code on the car or was it just because it was stretch that you change it I have a code p0017 and I think my chain is stretch but some one said can can be the computer because there was a call back for it

    • @TimTuimaseve
      @TimTuimaseve  8 лет назад

      +Freddy Mercado Hey, I replaced it because I got the P00012 error code. There is a way of determining whether your chain is stretched. You need to take of the cam cover. If you go here: roadraceengineering.com/blog/2012/10/15/4b11-timing-chain-good-bad-and-ugly-mostly-ugly-not-so-much-good/
      It shows how you can do a visual inspection.

      Hi sorry for the late reply. Yes there is a manual that you can download that had all the torque specs on it. I just googled it and found it.

    • @TimTuimaseve
      @TimTuimaseve  9 лет назад

      Thanks. The only problem was that the timing chain warning light came back after 5000km or so. I took it to a mitsubishi dealer and they reset the learned values at no cost. Since then it has been prefect.

    • @SiR8081
      @SiR8081 9 лет назад

      Mr4zd so does that mean that the above clearing of the check light in the video is only temporary? Ultimately it has to be carried to the dealer to be reset?

    • @TimTuimaseve
      @TimTuimaseve  9 лет назад

      Yes thats correct. It only lasted I think around 5000km's before the light came back on. I took it to the dealer (now 10000kms later) and it has not come back since.

    • @SiR8081
      @SiR8081 9 лет назад

      Mr4zd Thanks for the reply. I just changed my chain and did the same reset by pulling the fuse. Will wait til it comes up and have it reset by the dealer.

    85k KM for a chain replacement seems quite less than my expectation. Do you happen to know why the chain got stretched so quickly?

    • @lcameeno1
      @lcameeno1 2 года назад +2

      Yeah the 08 to 10 evo x had a weak timing chain that would stretch, the new updated one will last a hell of alot longer if not the whole life of the car unless you run stupid amounts of boost but even then it will take that abuse lol

      samuelrodriguezdj it came with the new timing chain so just did it anyway :)

  • @mcnichristian
    @mcnichristian 8 лет назад

    so i just did this yesterday but when the chain is on there i spun the crack twice like the other tutorial said to but i got confused when i looked at the timing marks and they weren't in the same spot is that normal or should they be in the same stop every time after a turn or two

    • @TimTuimaseve
      @TimTuimaseve  7 лет назад

      They will be at different spots with every turn. I guess because the crank sprocket is a different size so you would need a few more turns to eventually get the marks to line up again. The other video you saw was probably telling you to turn it by hand to check for interference between the piston and the valve.
