I worked at Starbucks for a month this year, and that would be my first and last fast food job because of the way my manager treated me as well as many of the shift supervisors. Very stuck up and passive aggressive. My last day I was working window and there were quite a few customers letting me know their drinks were made wrong so of course I had to be the one to let everyone including my manager know. Then she took me to the back and said that I ruined 12 orders that day when I was just the person handing them the drinks...she threatened to fire me so I finished that shift, collected my tips and never stepped foot in there again.

@@beerdo A majority of business owners in the United States have and continue to work shoulder to shoulder with employees because these businesses are often family businesses built from the ground up. The founder of Subway could probably make every sandwich blindfolded in record time because HE made those sandwiches first and millions of them before every seeing success. The problem with bigger companies like Subway is that when leadership changes hands in the late game it’s often to marketing teams or accounting teams that don’t have that same experience.
Additionally Subway is actually pretty unique among American companies because it’s not on the public market so there is very little top down control. Every subway is a privately own franchise which pay a fee to the rights of the Subway logo and recipes. But each restaurant has the freedom to do what they want with these rights. I currently work at one of their restaurants and I did about 5 years ago as well. One of the differences is that the owner of the current store wants to sell more rotisserie chicken than chicken strips so our location uses rotisserie chicken for our chicken bacon ranch sub. Other restaurants don’t do this which can cause confusion for people coming in which is why we let people know what kind of chicken comes on that sub. That was a private decision, not a top down decision. You can’t do that in most other companies because they are top down.

@@kimmiewise1044, clearly, "Undercover Boss" shows the higher ups don't. They don't get down in the "trenches" and see what is going in their stores/locations. They can be quite out of touch. We're not talking about local mom and pop businesses. We're talking about some big companies. Subway in this case. The reality of business is not everybody is going to know the core job of Subway which making sandwiches. You will have people hired for positions based on the needs of the company. You got tell people in IT that they need to know how to make an Italian BMT. Or you go tell accounting that they need to know how to make a Subway Club. You might think knowing this is beneficial, but realistically it won't help them do their job.
They technically can't do this or that because just because they are individually owned. You still have to follow what Subway as a whole wants as they still are apart of Subway when it comes to what kind of chicken you want to use. You can't switch out this kind of chicken for that kind of chicken. That's not how it works. Some stuff may not be at every Subway (some locations have a personal pizza), but switching this for that is not what you are supposed to do.

Personally I don't mind waiting for my food, I waited 45 minutes one time at taco bell, they had a line of cars wrapped around the building so I knew I was gonna have to wait awhile, I didn't mind. After I got my food they still had a line of cars wrapped around the building, I was like "damn taco Bell doing numbers 😂".

Yeah after training a new employee by making many sandwiches . Not the very first one. Straight away I would have said who the fuck do think you are talking to me like that . Bet it would take her many attempts to change a light bulb 💡

Brought tears to my eyes. Jesse was tough, but business is tough so didn't waste time telling it like it is. No miscommunication here. Good fortune and health, Jesse, family and Boss.

Two things I learned from this clip: 1) that girl has no place as a manager and was merely displacing all the angst she absorbed in her broken home, and 2) that CEO is a total sub (pardon the pun) who gets off on being degraded and humiliated by Dommes. You can take that to the bank!

This 100%. Dude gave this girl 50K for college but stiffed the other employees who were much nicer and helpful to him. There was an older lady who wasn't as young or attractive and he only gave her a meager raise and some kind of new training position.

Jesse, you've built a shield around yourself to keep out the hurt and disappointment. Take time to grieve your losses....we are ALL losers in many ways, and hardness makes it worse. You have good instincts, just listen to your heart more.

This girl is nasty and rude, but when I heard what happened to her with her mom being out of the picture , no wonder she seems angry. Any person would always be angry inside at the fact of their mother or father not wanting or loving them. I think her attitude manifested from inside anger from being neglected by her own mother. I just feel sad for her.

Good to see someone here understands here. She was not rude...just strict
and she is a warm hardworking person who has responsibilities.
She has had a tough life and it has toughen her up so she does give others tough love sometimes.
She is a sweet young girl who just needs to experience more love and kindness.

She was being rude, reprimanding a new employee for not getting everything super fast on the first day.
It’s a problem that can be solved with communication, but she needs to be told not to go on power trips.

People imo get promoted too quickly just because they are hard working. That's completely the wrong reason to promote someone. A manager needs to be able to lead and motivate a team not just be good at their job. People think that being tough gets respect from people. It actually has the opposite effect.
