I was elated that the consensus was that I excellent but made me rethink all of the hard work and countless hours I put in. I own my own business now and would never do what they did to me.

95% of franchise businesses are like that tho. The management sits in offices, never doing or even witnessing the daily business in a store. 4 years at a pizza shack now, the only time a "manager" shows up is if he feels like shitting all over you because they got an angry e-mail from a customer that had to wait 5 extra minutes for his delivery. They make so much money from each store, usually they own the property but charge rent for each store, they buy the ingredients wholesale for pretty decent prices but then sell it to every store with borderline insane profits. Then take another cut from the revenue from each store. We used to be able to buy ingredients for the salads on the menue, and make a decent profit that way. Now we gotta buy it all from HQ, a bag of mixed salad for 12.50$ that would have cost us maybe 4$ to make ourselves before. In that bag there's enough content to make 2 of our main salads that we sell for 15$ each. But those salads are not just mixed greens, there's also Mozarella in in, tuna fish, olives, tomatoes and chicken meat. We now make like 10cents profit on those. and from those 10 cents, HQ takes half. Food business is absolutely cruel. And to top it off, in my country for some reason people don't think it's normal to tip the delivery guy. On the other hand it's absolutely customary to tip at least 10% of a bill to your waiter. Often times just a person taking an order and transporting food from A to B within a warm and cozy environment. While the delivery guy is busting his balls trying to climb that icy hill to your remote home, walking through pouring rain or knee deep snow at times, to then face a douchebag that order for 98$ and insists on getting his 2 bucks back from the 100 bill he paid with. Can't count the times i've walked passed a car park of Porsches, high end Mercedes or BMW cars, sometimes even a private security guy opening the outer gates, to then deliver a pre-paid order and not get even 1 buck tipp. When you make 20k+ a month, and are too lazy to cook your own dinner but still don't feel like tipping at least a buck, i sure hope you end up in hell.
Anyone else have a suspicion that employees have a prerecognition of their boss’s identity as they are as well-behaved and enthusiastic as can be? Especially when time and again they always immediately open up and go into some tear jerker story of financial woe.
Possibly, but many employees are just concerned about getting through the day and going home - if I was fed a lie that the company was filming an industry documentary or doing an internal film for corporate that might involve an interview, I'd just go along with it. I'm sure many people are like this.
These guys are handling foods without a hair net covering over their hair. I think this is very important for food safety. They seem to be overlooking the possibility of loose hair getting into the food. It will be great to see PIZZA NOVA think in this all important direction to improve on their food handling for enhanced public safety
I thought that too. But then I was informed, that hair protection is to keep YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR OWN HAIR. Sit and watch people eating, and you will see some freak out with hand sanitizer, etc. They touch their face and hair constantly, without thinking about it, or chew their nails. In till you work on a farm and get some cow shit in there. When wearing a hat, scarf, hair net, anything that is hair or hat protection, those people, don't touch their head, or do so far less often. After being a people watcher and working in healthcare and food service/storage, and livestock, I still get a kick out of it.
OMGsh!! I have tears. What Dominick has did for these people has helped them do much in do many ways. Just showing that the Company cares about their employees touches my heart. AWESOME!!!
and thats WHY some places still are in business......in my town, there's a hardware company called City Mill that is owned by a local chinese family and they just celebrated their retail 100th anniversary! one of the reasons? customer service and having the right products available. My brother used to work CM but he died from cancer. He told our family that he should have worked CM a LONG time ago BECAUSE they know how to treat and respect their employees just as much as family.

No wonder why people are confused by the prices- the lack of decimal points and dollar signs is completely counter-intuitive. It doesn't even make the menu more aesthetic, it's just dumb.
Derek is an excellent trainer and really cares about maintaining the quality of the product and his customers! Really great guy!!! Regarding the delivery time policy, the franchise owner must have instructed his drivers to do that otherwise Derek wouldn't be doing that. This individual franchise owner probably created his own delivery time policy to provide better service to his customers.

Wow, Mona is an amazing woman, and her son is a commendable man who stays by his moms side. What a proud family. I wish them the best life has to offer. I am truly sorry for their loss. I would imagine Matty was a fantastic family man and employee.
I wish this happened to me. I spent 15 years in the food industry. I always went above and beyond, made suggestions to improve service. Many of my ideas were implemented. I never received any credit. How i was rewarded for my service to the company i was fired. The reason being my transportation was stolen and my apartment was broken into. I was late because i was dealing with the police. 5 years of hard work closing and not getting home till 2 am 6 days a week.
The problem is when you have ideas and stuff man keep them to yourself and get into the business and put those ideas to work and make the money for yourself and I’m sorry you lost your job hopefully you bounced back but remember these people don’t care about you it’s about their money they don’t care that’s what I learned and work life has been easy for me since
in my opinion, when your the ceo of a business, you should know your business inside and out and that means knowing how to do the tasks the people right at the bottom do, esp if your a founding ceo rather than an appointed one
I wish..... a lot of times the operating systems of registers in corporate stores seem like the people that designed them have never used one a day in their life.
What I've noticed on all the many, many Undercover Boss episodes, is that the front line employees have great ideas that top management never hears about. It's sad and inefficient that it has to take the CEO to go undercover for these great ideas to get heard !!!! CEOs need to establish a system so top management can hear directly from the front line employees ideas on how to improve things that will provide the customer with a better experience. And, top management really need to listen and consider the front line employees ideas.
It's different when you hear it through an experience or in a situation that showcases the practicality of how these ideas would help the organisation.
@@lisatai1120 Buisness is a dirty game. I personally feel like that guy who came up with the lasagna cutter had a great idea going but all he got was 10k & a pat on his back. Imagine he got the royalties from patenting that idea & the boss actually puts his greed aside and helps him make more money. All the rich don’t care about good ideas , all they care about is stealing them from the working class people who come up with it & the rich get richer. That guy should’ve never showed that guy anything because he will be mentally upset when he finds out that the boss doesn’t give a flying fuck about his creative mind or his ideas but only his own company’s profit.

If an Undercover Boss were to keep both hands on their business continuously they would never need to go undercover again. Being the boss is the reason to stay constantly connected instead of spoiled.
Apparently practically no one in the comments paid attention enough to the program to know all the employees were told they were doing a documentary on the food business.
Ye true. They are also getting payed, so they will tell some to act up and cause a scene,or to say something and add feelings to the show. Mostly staged lol
I love that Mona is concerned about making the same pizza and product every time. I give up on pizza places for that reason alone. I give them several chances but I hate looking forward some fresh pizza night after work with a few beers and the pizza is not what I expected.
Richard Branson said “I don’t care about the customer, I care about the employees. Take good care of them and they will take good care of the customers.”
Sarah is an excellent trainer and all her ideas on how to improve service so it's faster and more efficient would provide the customers with better experiences which would have them coming back again and again thus increasing sales!
I started working at age 12 when my neighbor wanted me to work on his farm. The first day at 7 am he taught me to drive the tractor and hook up and pull the wagon. It shaped me into the hard working person I have always been, any project later, we can do this! Now, at age 67 I am bored and have so much more to offer. Covid has messed me up big time!
How about having an animal rescue...horses, donkeys, cats, chickens...you can do the tractor work I'll do animal care. I can go all day every day, when animals are involved.
Pizza nova is awesome. Although pizza nova today isn't the pizza nova of my childhood. It used to be a casual dining sit down restaurant. We would order calamari as our appetizer back in the day.

The delivery guy - whose car is he using ? If its his own thats WRONG. Pizza Nova, get the vehicles for the deliveries out of your 40 billion. JEEEZ - - -

No, you don't know. As the idea is something come up with while on the clock as an employee, he owes him nothing at all, beyond his pay, and his thanks. A gratuity is just that, a thank you. The two men who created "Superman " sold those Rights for $300.00. So who made Superman a legend? It clearly wasn't the creator of the character, now was it? Just because you came up with the idea, doesn't mean you have the ability to mass market, and produce it. In fact, if you create something in your course of study, as a student, you professor is your source of knowledge, and he legally owns the Rights to what you came up with. (I have an uncle that had to make the choice of patent now and save lives, or patent in 2 years, and keep the Rights. Since the professor was not a total dick, they agreed to split the Rights, and patent now.)
Exactly I opened a restaurant in beginning of 2019 worked so hard because there were too many competitors around me I survived in first wave so hardly and tried my best but closed my restaurant before 2 months after losing most of my capital it was sad but it is what it is 😔😔😔
And then there was that one time where I was sitting in front of the big boss of pizza nova and he said "one thing that I noticed was when I cut the cheese, it was really dangerous!!!" Lmfao
After so many episodes and different versions of the show, I find it very hard to believe the employees don't suspect this could be undercover boss. The argument is always the same.
One vacation and a paid week of training plus $5k is all he can do for some guy who worked there for 27 years. How about 100k and a retirement with benefits for life and a pension…

Nicholas Georgievski yeah, then you would know exactly how big a waste of time that 3 was. Getting. Nowhere in life. I still work a job that’s a waste of time, but it pays 5x better than a pizza shop like when I was younger. Regardless guys not wrong, only way to work in this world if you truly care about your craft and truly want to do a good job is to do it yourself under your own name.
Kenny H you’re clearly not understanding what he’s saying, and working these JOBS are 100% a waste of time but it’s essential to an extent to get where you want in life. But regardless, it’s a waste of time working for a business when you truly care about your craft and truly care about your work when you work for someone who doesn’t. I work for a business that strives on perfection and yet the company president and all of coordinators refuse to address real issues facing production. The only way to work a CAREER in a craft you truly care about is to work for yourself under your own name.

I think Undercover Boss,, lost sight of its original purpose. Now its just a sob story. Nothing personal.
Anyone else have a suspicion that employees have a prerecognition of their boss’s identity as they are as well-behaved and enthusiastic as can be? Especially when time and again they always immediately open up and go into some tear jerker story of financial woe.
ross denholm They know him.
Not neccassarily.., one dickhead told the undercover boss he hated customers. She revealed who she really was, then suspended him :D
Possibly, but many employees are just concerned about getting through the day and going home - if I was fed a lie that the company was filming an industry documentary or doing an internal film for corporate that might involve an interview, I'd just go along with it. I'm sure many people are like this.
Hmmmm.....cameraman is here and focusing on the new, old guy...
Lol one had a delivery driver tell corp owner that he took pot for tips and smoked on job .. lmao

These guys are handling foods without a hair net covering over their hair.
I think this is very important for food safety. They seem to be overlooking the possibility of loose hair getting into the food.
It will be great to see PIZZA NOVA think in this all important direction to improve on their food handling for enhanced public safety
I thought that too having worked in the food industry & @9:32 brought back fun memories from when I worked at a pizza joint😜
Yeah eating out is a gamble nowadays as people's hygiene is not as good as it used to be.
It's either a hat or a hairnet at most places. A regular hat usually does the job.
@@davemoss9505 kinda the opposite. Everyone is just more aware now.

I can't believe that Pizza Nova doesn't have a training program for their front line workers! It's extremely unbelievable!
No wonder why people are confused by the prices- the lack of decimal points and dollar signs is completely counter-intuitive. It doesn't even make the menu more aesthetic, it's just dumb.
I wish all employers were like him! He truly cares not just about the business but also his employees!
Derek is an excellent trainer and really cares about maintaining the quality of the product and his customers! Really great guy!!! Regarding the delivery time policy, the franchise owner must have instructed his drivers to do that otherwise Derek wouldn't be doing that. This individual franchise owner probably created his own delivery time policy to provide better service to his customers.
wow... hope there are a lot of owner like Dominic who listen to his employee and he has a good heart... God bless

I feel the tnt supermarket episode is different and wholesome
And, top management really need to listen and consider the front line employees ideas.
good point, that smacks of not having open lines of communications with management.
It's different when you hear it through an experience or in a situation that showcases the practicality of how these ideas would help the organisation.
All his employees were super hard working. I'm glad the kid party lady got promoted.
I would also second that! she's great with kids, morale, and the pizza business!!
She deserves more...he's taking her ideas but she won't get the glory for iy

Apparently practically no one in the comments paid attention enough to the program to know all the employees were told they were doing a documentary on the food business.
“The one thing that concerned me is when I was Cutting The Cheese” 😂😂😂 ew TMI!
How is anything undercover? There's a camera on them, at all times. So, they'd be on their best behavior.
Ye true. They are also getting payed, so they will tell some to act up and cause a scene,or to say something and add feelings to the show. Mostly staged lol
They say its for training part to see how it is to get trained so that's the excuse for the camera. I've seen somewhere
When she recognized him immediately it was so heartwarming
When life was awesome without COVID-19 pandemic...
Sarah is an excellent trainer and all her ideas on how to improve service so it's faster and more efficient would provide the customers with better experiences which would have them coming back again and again thus increasing sales!
This hit me pretty hard. Now I love pizza even more. Thank you for one of the greatest shows I have ever wtched.
I'm sure nowadays it's probably a lot closer to diarrhea.
The staff don't truly know it's the boss, they see cameras and let out what could be improved in case the boss does come in, to cover their ass!

This show is great it really opens the eyes of corporate in there businesses so the right changes get put in helping both the business and there employees.
The delivery guy - whose car is he using ? If its his own thats WRONG. Pizza Nova, get the vehicles for the deliveries out of your 40 billion. JEEEZ - - -
Jay Way most food delivery people use their own cars. They usually get a small stipend for it but no where near enough to actually maintain it.
Jay Way how it’s done in Canada. Even Pizza Hut don’t have company vehicles.
Sadies Ariel not usually. Very rarely. That’s why he’s using a sunflower cause you can get a running one for $200
I would serve a piece of cake to a kid that small, as long as the kid isn't mine, anyway.
If you going undercover is going to be a little disappointment because 50% of the employees are very negative about them job..
"I am gonna take your multimillion dollar trey and mold it for all of our stores and make it proprietary and license it. Here is $10,000. Don't forget the tripod when you deliver. That will be all.."
I know right :D
Stop giving away free pizzas! I will have to fine you $10,000.
I love this show cuz it funny to see the ceos struggle and at the end they give like 40,000 dollars away and someone gets fired
''With the world economy in a fragile state''
If only anyone knew how prophetic that very sentence would turn out to be in 2020-present.

He is so passionate when he speaks about his business. A heart of gold, I tell ya
After so many episodes and different versions of the show, I find it very hard to believe the employees don't suspect this could be undercover boss. The argument is always the same.
They know but don't say something most of the time because of the benefits at the end of every episode. Haha
One vacation and a paid week of training plus $5k is all he can do for some guy who worked there for 27 years. How about 100k and a retirement with benefits for life and a pension…
Ummmm nooooo

Happy employees make for a happy strong company. Proven management reference, it works so be like Dominic and do it.

It's a franchise. This is the guy signing All the cheques. The franchise owners bust their ass. I worked for a pizza franchise for 3 years
Nicholas Georgievski yeah, then you would know exactly how big a waste of time that 3 was.

So kind and generous the CEO is to all of them. Blessings...
The people in charge dont notice you and the only reason he did any of this was because of the TV show paid for most of it. Notice when the girl said my own car he didnt say yes its because its a company car and she will not be keeping it when they fire her in a year.
