    Nice video, Meredith. I think this is the first video I've seen you state your sign name!
    By the way, there's a variation for the sign of "bell" as well as for "temple." Also, we, Deaf people, for the phrase "New Year's Eve" tend to fingerspell it as "N-Y-E."

    • @ASLMeredith
      @ASLMeredith  8 лет назад

      Thanks! Hm, I didn't even notice that! Now that you mention it, it's also actually the first video where I introduce myself by name. Not sure what inspired it!

    Hello quick question, I saw you do the winter sign as another sign for refrigerator. Do they mean winter or refrigerator both, or am i just horribly mistaken please? Thank you for your time and for making and putting up all these great videos. You are basically my only sub and for good reason, your videos are awesome. You rock! ^-^

    • @ASLMeredith
      @ASLMeredith  7 лет назад

      Thanks for the kind feedback! Yes so there are a few signs used for "refrigerator", one of which is indeed the same as the signs for COLD and WINTER. Other variations of 'refrigerator' are the same movement with the "R" handshape instead, and another is a lexicalized fingerspelling "r-e-f".

    What is does two f hand sideways going up and down mean? You use it in the video but I can’t seem to figure it out

    • @ASLMeredith
      @ASLMeredith  6 лет назад

      Hm - at what time do you see the sign? It might be the sign "DESCRIBE" you're talking about (DESCRIBE / EXPLAIN) - it's made with the two "F" handshapes, sideways / facing one another, but instead of 'up and down' they go in and out (away and toward the body). Is that the sign you're seeing? If not, feel free to reply and let me know the timestamp for when the sign is used. Hope this helps! Thanks!

    • @isabellebrooke3565
      @isabellebrooke3565 6 лет назад

      ASLMeredith yes that was the sign I was seeing! Thank you so much for replying! It took me a lot of research to figure this one out haha. Your videos have helped me learn so much! Thank you!!!

    Is the sign for Snowing the same as it is for Raining?

    • @ASLMeredith
      @ASLMeredith  6 лет назад +1

      Good question! No -- the signs are slightly different. SNOW is the "5" handshape and the fingers wiggle (like "spirit fingers") as the hands move downward. Also, often "SNOW" is signed with the sign WHITE first, then the movement of snow. For "RAIN" -- the handshape is a bent "5" (so the fingers are out, but are bent a bit) where the fingers themselves don't move or wiggle, and then the hands have a downward movement as well. So the difference is in the hand shape (fingers straight/wiggling vs bent) and movement a little (finger wiggle vs not) . And the downward movement for each will change depending on the strength of the rain/snow being described. Hope this helps!

    why do you switch your formats between speaking in your videos and not speaking? I personally find the speaking ones more newcomer friendly :3

    • @ASLMeredith
      @ASLMeredith  8 лет назад +1

      THanks for the feedback! Most often, I'm not switching this back and forth, but rather my old videos don't have any voiceover, and my new videos do. However, I was in a hurry to get the holiday videos out and didn't think adding voice would actually add any value. PArticularly because it's more straight vocabulary than phrases or sentences that require deeper understand. That said, as mentioned in this video's description, this is a temporary video that is "incomplete" and I do plan on re-doing. I'll keep your feedback in mind, thanks!
