My daughter is taking ASL at her high school, she is teaching me and your videos help me keep up! :) I enjoy helping her with dialogues. Thank you for your videos! Best to you!
Hi Meredith! I love your videos and think you are an amazing teacher! I love how you show all the signs from different visual points- its really helpful! Happy holidays xoxo
Thank you for all your videos! I work with infants, toddlers and preschoolers and I love incorporating signing into my songs. Your videos are so easy to learn from and help me create an inclusive learning environment!
I love this video! I have been teaching my 3rd graders ASL, and they gave me an EXTENSIVE list of holiday words they wanted to learn. This covered them all. Thanks!
Please make more videos! These are so amazing and helpful. I really appreciate your channel! It would be so great to learn more phrases and conversational signing. You're wonderful!
Thank you so much for the kind feedback!! I'm certainly working on more videos :) and yes -- with phrases and conversational lessons, beyond strict vocab. In the meantime, sign up for my newsletter (first email coming out this week!) - it'll have additional and exclusive content!
Thank you for the lessons, Meredith. Been studying now for a week and your videos helped me a lot. I am not deaf or something in between, I just want to learn ASL for additional knowledge. By the way, you are very beautiful. You are a sight for sore eyes. 😍😍😍
Thank you so much for the kind feedback, Evelyn! I really appreciate it you taking the time to comment, and am so glad that you find these videos helpful :) feel free to reach out anytime with questions or suggestions!
would you be able to make a video on common words or phrases during a dental cleaning? I have one pt who signs and i want her to feel confortable enough to communicate basic words instead of going through her mother at every visit. words such as brush your teeth, floss your teeth, gum disease, where does it hurt, is it when you bite, drink cold water? etc... ive seached for videos but cant find many. thank you
Hi Julia, thanks for the suggestion! I'm happy to add this to my list :) if you have specific examples of signs you'd like to learn, feel free to let me know!
Nice video, Meredith. I think this is the first video I've seen you state your sign name! By the way, there's a variation for the sign of "bell" as well as for "temple." Also, we, Deaf people, for the phrase "New Year's Eve" tend to fingerspell it as "N-Y-E."
Thanks! Hm, I didn't even notice that! Now that you mention it, it's also actually the first video where I introduce myself by name. Not sure what inspired it!

Hello quick question, I saw you do the winter sign as another sign for refrigerator. Do they mean winter or refrigerator both, or am i just horribly mistaken please? Thank you for your time and for making and putting up all these great videos. You are basically my only sub and for good reason, your videos are awesome. You rock! ^-^
Thanks for the kind feedback! Yes so there are a few signs used for "refrigerator", one of which is indeed the same as the signs for COLD and WINTER. Other variations of 'refrigerator' are the same movement with the "R" handshape instead, and another is a lexicalized fingerspelling "r-e-f".
Hm - at what time do you see the sign? It might be the sign "DESCRIBE" you're talking about (DESCRIBE / EXPLAIN) - it's made with the two "F" handshapes, sideways / facing one another, but instead of 'up and down' they go in and out (away and toward the body). Is that the sign you're seeing? If not, feel free to reply and let me know the timestamp for when the sign is used. Hope this helps! Thanks!
ASLMeredith yes that was the sign I was seeing! Thank you so much for replying! It took me a lot of research to figure this one out haha. Your videos have helped me learn so much! Thank you!!!
Good question! No -- the signs are slightly different. SNOW is the "5" handshape and the fingers wiggle (like "spirit fingers") as the hands move downward. Also, often "SNOW" is signed with the sign WHITE first, then the movement of snow. For "RAIN" -- the handshape is a bent "5" (so the fingers are out, but are bent a bit) where the fingers themselves don't move or wiggle, and then the hands have a downward movement as well. So the difference is in the hand shape (fingers straight/wiggling vs bent) and movement a little (finger wiggle vs not) . And the downward movement for each will change depending on the strength of the rain/snow being described. Hope this helps!
@@ASLMeredith Thanks, yes this helps.. I was wondering how one could tell the difference and now I know. :) Thanks for your reply, Pray you have a Blessed and Safe Merry Christmas! Dennis & Rachelle
THanks for the feedback! Most often, I'm not switching this back and forth, but rather my old videos don't have any voiceover, and my new videos do. However, I was in a hurry to get the holiday videos out and didn't think adding voice would actually add any value. PArticularly because it's more straight vocabulary than phrases or sentences that require deeper understand. That said, as mentioned in this video's description, this is a temporary video that is "incomplete" and I do plan on re-doing. I'll keep your feedback in mind, thanks!
No worries! I know most people don't :) but I try to put helpful information there anyway. But I honestly DO plan on re-doing this for next year. Just wanted to get it in everyone's hands for today/tomorrow! :D

why do you switch your formats between speaking in your videos and not speaking? I personally find the speaking ones more newcomer friendly :3
