Thank you so much for all your help & guidance! I absolutely love & appreciate your style & method of teaching sign language. You're a wonderful teacher. 🤗🙏❤️
I have a coworker who is deaf, and aside from occasionally signing, "You good?" or "OK" I really couldn't communicate with him. Yesterday, after practicing with your 125 Signs from ASL Pt.1, I saw him, and said, "Hi, How are you? Pleased to meet you!" He got the biggest smile on his face! I look forward to learning more so we can truly become friends.
Im 15 and don't have any deaf or hard of hearing friends but i want to learn sign in case i ever meet someone deaf in the future, but classes for that usually aren't free, so this channel has been really helpful!
Don’t ask me why or how or what but I woke up one day with the urge and desire to learn sign language maybe God is preparing me for someone I have no clue but I love it so much thank you new subscriber ❤
THIS! I woke up with this thought to start learning and it’s been so heavy on my mind! I feel like God is preparing me to meet someone who could really use more people who understand their language 💓
I work in fast food, and we get deaf people often and your videos have helped me a lot with being able to communicate with them and give them the best customer service. I feel as if ASL should be taught in school. There’s so many deaf people that have to adapt to a hearing world. To me, I don’t think that’s fair. I think the least the hearing person can do is learn a little bit of sign language so they can communicate with those who live that life being accustomed to us instead of the other way around
I was thinking about learning ASL for when I get my first job, probably as a waitress or in fast food. How often would you say? Like are we talking daily, weekly, monthly?
I'm autistic and pretty much always non-verbal, my little brother is deaf, I helped him learn ASL and you're always really helpful when I need a reminder on a word, I learned ASL when we figured out my brother was deaf, you've helped so much, thank you!
Hello Meredith, Some signs can be difficult to see in videos, depending on the angle that the videos were created in. I appreciate that you explain how signs are made because it helps to clarify things. Be well.

Awwww that so sweet I really wanna learn singlague because I meet some people who are deaf and I wanna communicate with them I'm part of a deaf person too when I don't wear my hearings because I have a very poor hearing and is very hard for me when I don't wear my hearinates
Im working as a waitress. There's a mute couple customer will come at every Saturday night.Usually they will ask for a pencil and paper to write their menu. When I do sign language fluently (thank god)she's crying and hug me because I'm willing to learn for both of them.I'm holding my tears so bad until i got into the kitchen.God Bless Both of Them
Yeah Im going through the same situation with some people my hearing is very poor when I don't wear my hearinates and I also meet some deaf people also which they are like me
I just want to say thank you so much Meredith , my son has ASD the last 6 months I’ve dedicated my life to ASL to teach him he’s catching on so fast , so am I , you teach me…I teach him 💙 we appreciate you!!!!!
I've started randomly becoming non-verbal at times and having to be forced to speak but today marks the time where i take 30 minutes to an hour to learn asl just so I can communicate how im feeling instead of talking.
im 10 and i recently read this book and it has a deaf person in it. i was like 'wow i should learn in case a meet a deaf person." and its really fun! your videos are so helpful and straight to the point. thanks so much!

I work in the cafeteria in an local elementary school and a few of our special needs students are deaf or mute, so I’m hoping that by learning their way of communicating that I will bring a smile to their day.
I LOVE your teaching technique. What I need to know is how do I sign with one hand. I have the other one I just can't move it due to paralysis. Thank you so much!
I work in the HVAC industry and I’ve been wanting to learn ASL so that I can accommodate anyone who may be deaf. I used to sign as a little kid but I’ve forgotten over the years. Thank you for making it so easy to understand. I can’t wait to use.
I an an English teacher and I established a foundation to help kids in my country to learn English. I learn ASL so I can help deaf kids in learning English.
So I am taking an asl class for school…but what I didn’t realize is that the teacher is deaf…so learning sign before this school year was a must…watching your videos have helped me enough to have a small conversation with him. I can sign ‘hello my name is Chelsea. Nice to meet you. How are you today. And see you later.
I'm in security and I've encountered two deaf patrons who needed my help. But all I could do was use texts, and it was embarrassing for me not being able to help properly. So, I'm hoping that learning ASL not only help me work wise, but also get a better job opportunity in the future.
I've been learning ASL for a few years since I am autistic and become non-verbal sometimes, the problem I have is that I don't have anyone to sign with so when I see someone signing I can't 'read' it even though I know that I know the sign. These videos have been helping me get better, thank you for this channel!
Hi Meredith. I work in Aviation. Can you make a video specific to that industry? Your GATE is that way. Your flight is DELAYED. We had to CHANGE your SEAT. Your RESERVATION has ERRORS.
Great work, Meredith! Signers, I hope that you are doing well with the deaf people out there. Keep practice with your sign language. Don’t forget to use your face expressions. Have fun! 😊
Been watching your videos, and practicing daily, since March. Love the videos, and how much I am learning. Have set up a whole "learning series" that I go through and practice, every day. Do you like suggestions of topics from your viewers? Not sure if that would just be bothersome, or confuse your planned programming. If not, as a person who works in a legal services profession (and periodically meet/assist hearing impaired individuals), I would love to see a series on signs for legal topics (ie; judge, court, license, law, date of birth, identification, etc;).
I’ve always wanted to learn ASL simply because I want to and I just never realized how many people don’t have the gift of hearing like we do. I know how it feels to not be able to do things that almost everybody else can, so that’s why I want to learn ASL. I want to help everyone and anyone. Thank you so much for blessing me with this opportunity!
So glad I came across this account. I decided to learn ASL after seeing how many deaf customers were coming into my place of work than ever before! We communicate with sticky notes and some hand gestures. Living the journey of learning not only something new but something that helps me understand and help those who communicate through ASL.
Like your honesty; just started learning @ 72 yrs in a class @ an adult school & realize I have to relax my hand more & trust I can do it; I communicate well with people & make eye contact but there are times when I would love to sign quickly to the random person that is clearly complaining or needs to cause drama with their words; used the no sign with a smile the other day & the reaction I got was a stare that said " the old lady is crazy"; use that sign when my choc lab acts up & scolding her uses up too much energy;
I’m learning sign for when they don’t allow us to speak in school lol, but it’s gonna be helpful in the future too. So I’m glad I’m really know it after reviewing over and over again!
I've been interested on learning sign language for a while now- I recently just watched Twinkling Watermelon (K-drama) and it made me want to learn sign language :))
I took ASL for just one year in high school and, ironically, during that year a classmate joined to finish his senior year who was deaf and I briefly befriended him. I thought, since this was 3-4 years ago and I haven’t seen him since I’d forget a lot. I’m surprised to realize I remembered every sign in this video! I know it’s not to say I could have a conversation with him like I used to when I saw him more but it’s nice to know it wasn’t wiped from my memory and I can move onto harder videos!
I've watched many of your videos and I keep coming back to this one because it gets the "gears turning" for signing. Thank you so much for sharing these 🙏
I work in retail and met a deaf woman today. She was lovely and kind throughout our short interaction. It made me realize that it'd be nice to learn sign language in case I meet her again or someone else. Especially since I work in customer service.
I've had a few customers come in when im around but felt kinda bad that all I knew how to say was "Thank you" or "You're welcome". Now Im learning more thanks to these videos that I know how to greet and slightly talk to deaf folks. I hope you keep up your videos so i may learn more.
You are the best! Thanks for learning for your son. If you're ever interested in our Accelerated program we offer 80% off to parents of deaf and hard of hearing children. Email us at contact@learnhowtosign.com if you're interested.
I appreciate your channel so much! I work at a gas station and have a few deaf customers that come in and I hate that we can't communicate well. I'm going to surprise them by learning ASL!
I’m young, and I’m only going to be able to legally get a job in one year. And obviously the most common paths are retail and fast food, so I want to make it easy to communicate smoother with someone who’s deaf in the future! I’m really happy I found this channel, this seems fun to learn!
Thank you, your amazing my son is 8 was found profoundly deaf at the age of 1 its been a very emotional journey for me as a mom but with your help and advice before your videos has helped me a lot with understanding better ways to communicate! Thank you 😊
I am grateful RUclips put this in front of me! I will subscribe. In secretarial school in 1979 a classmate was deaf. California provided her with an interpreter. I picked up what I could as I had somehow learn the alphabet before that. 😳 It's so exciting to be able to try. People really appreciate it. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I'm 14 turning 15 and I've really been interested in asl and I've tried downloading apps and going into websites but all of them you have to pay for, so thank you for providing a place where people can learn sigh free of charge❤😊 please keep making videos❤❤
Been trying to learn ASL cos my cousin is deaf and mute. I don't meet her always but I try when I visit their house. The country I'n sraying at now doesn't teach ASL. They teach another sign language native here, so these ASL videos on youtube are quite useful.
Ok so Im hoh but im also autsitic and so like? Uhm eye contact is very uncomfortable (and brings back trauma from ptsd) so I dont do that very often. BUT I'm actually paying MORE attention to you that way. I read lips and learning asl.
I'm also autistic and thought the same thing at that part. People "pay attention" differently and not everyone who doesn't look at someone is not paying attention to them. The facial expression component of ASL is also very difficult for me (I don't often match my facial expression to what I'm saying even with spoken language) but I'm trying to practice...
I’m autistic to and what I usually do is pick a spot so close to the eye that the person feels like I’m maintaining eye contact, usually the eyebrow, between the eyes, or the nose. This might not work for you, in fact when I’m especially tired or overwhelmed it doesn’t always work for me either, but I figured I’d share just in case it helps!
I'm learning asl, so that if ever I get to encounter a person who can only communicate thru sign language I will be able to communicate to that person. I hope this lesson will be included in regular school so that our kids will be able to communicate thru asl as well.
As someone who goes non verbal this is so helpful for me to learn! I used to use text speech and I hated it. (Anyone can use it tho if they want just wasn’t what I liked the most)
Where i work, these 2 people that are deaf come in about once every 3 weeks and i want to help but i messed up last time because i wasnt good yet so i got to learn more to help!
I always liked to learn sign language, I guess this is gonna be the first language which I can learn in one week, even though my native language is not English. thank you very much❤❤
I’m beginning my journey into asl as a hearing person and I’m amazed at how many different dialects there are just in the most common beginner YT videos. Not sure if that’s the right term but the way signs are emphasized, angled, or motioned. It’s to be expected with any language but it’s also a little disconcerting. It feels like I’m getting my English vocab from someone in Boston, someone in Minneapolis, and someone in Baton Rogue. 😨 Hope I don’t wind up signing like a crazy person!
I'm learning English right now and too I'm interested in learn sign lenguage, I do that for 6 months, in this time I come back to this comment to tell my progress in this two interesting lenguages, see you next time
I’m eight this is so helpful I have lot of friends that are deaf but I can’t communicate with them but u helped a lot and now I am really good SO THANK YOU SO MUCH I Appreciate ITTT❤❤❤
I have ran into a couple who was deaf a couple of times at work ni work at a grocery store as a courtesy clerk and cashier. I tried my best to communicate w/ what I know.
Hi I'm in the sixth grade and I'm a girl when I first went to the 6th grade school that had three grades I can level up in I noticed I had deaf kids at my school and I was confused what they were saying ever since I found this video this video was about to help me tomorrow in the morning when I go to school that way I can understand deaf kids so I can be friends with them thank you for making this video so I can finally connect and understand deaf kids singing and for now I'm going to follow subscribe and like❤😊
Omg, yay! I'm so glad I found this wonderful & helpful site. Feels very natural surprisingly, and when I signed some simple sentences to my deaf coworker, he was very happy and excited, so, guess I'm doing ok thus far!
Had one Customer teach me “Thank You For Eating Here”, “Thank You For Eating In This Restaurant”, and “Have A Nice Day.” Pretty awesome, not gonna lie. 😮 Wanting to learn this one above the French Language now because of how Peaceful it is.
My son is unilaterally deaf and uses a cross hearing aid system but in public settings or sports it's super hard. So we've been signing a bit, these videos are extremely helpful.
My wife and I are moving into a new house soon, and one of our next-door neighbours is deaf. We met her, and she's excellent at lip-reading, but I thought it would be a good gesture if I learned some ASL. I just know 3 words and in no way conversational, but this video is great and very easy to follow along. Much like learning a new language, I'm nervous to do it, but I'm sure she'll understand if I don't have it perfect.
I am a Uganda sign language interpreter. But, I'm learning American sign language. It's interesting. I would wish, one day to visit America in person and learn more about their signs and the deaf culture 🥰
thank you for making this!! I have a hard time going mute because of sensory overload and I hope that I can help communicate my needs better like this!! I learned asl when I was a child and I hope to be able to learn it again!!
Thank you so much for these videos! I have a few people who come into my work occasionally who are deaf and I want to be able to communicate with them!
I was shopping for a coat at my fav spot The North Face. A deaf girl wanted to know information about a coat she was interested in and no one could help her! To see that it hurt! So I'm learning to place videos online reviewing North Face coats and will also add sign language!

Brian has perfect timing on the side angles here. Consider shooting close ups as needed for signs that don't require much thumb movement because they would be easier to see overall than if they were shot from your waist up.

I’m autistic to and what I usually do is pick a spot so close to the eye that the person feels like I’m maintaining eye contact, usually the eyebrow, between the eyes, or the nose. This might not work for you, in fact when I’m especially tired or overwhelmed it doesn’t always work for me either, but I figured I’d share just in case it helps!
tysmmmm my sis is deaf and i said i learned sign languge wit signs and she wrote down on a paper saying nice bro now we can talk
I appreciate the explanations behind why you do the signs a certain way, helps me remember better
Glad you can help!
I'm learning asl, so that if ever I get to encounter a person who can only communicate thru sign language I will be able to communicate to that person. I hope this lesson will be included in regular school so that our kids will be able to communicate thru asl as well.
This makes me soo happy and exited i can finally communicate with my deaf school mates
yay nag aral mag sign language kasi na-inspire sa twinking watermelon
😨 Hope I don’t wind up signing like a crazy person!
its the facial expression for meee
love this thank you!
I'm learning English right now and too I'm interested in learn sign lenguage, I do that for 6 months, in this time I come back to this comment to tell my progress in this two interesting lenguages, see you next time

I have a deaf person in my karate class and I don’t understand him so this is free and very affective :)
I am a Uganda sign language interpreter. But, I'm learning American sign language. It's interesting. I would wish, one day to visit America in person and learn more about their signs and the deaf culture 🥰

I was shopping for a coat at my fav spot The North Face. A deaf girl wanted to know information about a coat she was interested in and no one could help her! To see that it hurt! So I'm learning to place videos online reviewing North Face coats and will also add sign language!
