  • On today's episode of Los Angeles drivers, we see a stalled Chevy Camaro in the #2 lane of travel on the I-5 freeway. Prior to the Fire Department and CHP shutting down the freeway, many drivers can be seen swerving around the stalled car, many coming within inches of hitting the vehicle.
    The driver of the Chevy Camaro was unable to move the vehicle, it was possibly damaged after crashing into the center divider wall.
    Approximately 10 vehicles were damaged with flat tires from the debris.
    It is common for drivers to travel at speeds of over 90mph on this stretch of highway. Distracted driving is also an ongoing problem in SoCal.
    DISCLAIMER: California Highway Patrol was already notified of the call PRIOR to the start of the video. A high intensity LED spotlight was shined directly at the stalled vehicle, highlighting the wreck for oncoming drivers. However, many drivers still failed to observe the stalled vehicle until the last second.

    • @legohead6
      @legohead6 8 месяцев назад

      People need to pay attention to what is in front of them and slow down if they cant see far enough ahead to safely stop. (locking up the tires and skidding isn't a "safe" stop). IT baffles me how this is such a problem in the US. I'm always looking well ahead of my current position when driving on the freeway. If I see ANY sort of anomaly ahead of me I'm covering the brake and slowing down until I can determine what it is and what action I need to take. I'm also watching what other cars are doing well ahead of me. If I see cars hitting their brakes and swerving ahead I'm also going to be slowing down until I can process the situation. That extra minute I took getting to my destination by slowing down for an anomaly on the freeway has never cost me anything.

    Something like this just happened where I live! It started with a very small fender bender in the middle of a 7 lane highway, one car had it's hazards on but the other no lights, nothing. So cars came flying up at 60-70mph (in a 45) to realize a wreck in the middle lane on the westbound side. So, ppl slammed on their brakes... Causing a nasty 6 car pileup.
    Why can't ppl just chill out while driving and maintain distance?

      "Why can't ppl just chill out while driving and maintain distance?" More like why can't people NOT be retards and pull their cars off to the side of the road. 9/10 you could have coasted to the side of the freeway instead of becoming a major problem and danger for everyone. I have ZERO sympathy for this idiotic Camaro owners, no Fing way he HAD to stop in the middle of the freeway like that. Coast to the fucking side or your at fault.

Bet this would be the case in any large city, I worked in Houston for a while and looking around while driving it's insane, literally 99% of people have their phone in their right hand and stare at it for like 3 seconds and then glance back at the road and repeat this as long as I can see them.

    The i5 is constantly a congested and high volume freeway. Knowing the traffic coming from the north and the city driving of LA, it is a feat a crash hasn't occurred. I've had my fair share of this very experience when on the 210 but during rushour traffic. Didn't know there was a stalled vehicle in front of me until the cars in the lane moved leading me up to a stalled van in the right of the HOV lane. At least people in this video were able to swerve out of the way. In my situation, I was stuck in a dangerous situation with traffic going 90 both on the left and right on the 210.
