I was lucky and snagged 1 of the 450 limited edition pro. Can't wait till it gets here , been waiting to putting my edge on the pm2 15v I got. With the angle finder I'm planning on getting some high end stones for the new sharpener too.
Those scratches are from the new stone. When you use it first time particles fall off it and onto the blade and when you wipe the blade off you scratch it. Gotta be super gentle when cleaning the blade off
The new stone holder will change the angle it sharpens at because it's bigger. Most wet stones work better if you soak them for a couple of minutes. Wet stones are usually best for carbon steel (softer) and diamond and resin bonded diamonds are better for stainless steel (harder).
The stabilizing plastic piece that goes underneath gets wedged in with the engraving of the gear facing toward the sharpener. Aka the gear engraving should face the clamp's locking gear/wheel. The stabilizer should easily wedge in and out so that you can rotate the clamp and wedge it back in without having to remove the whole sharpener from the base.
@@doodysdaggers No problem. Thx for this video, ordered that same holder for my WSPA as well. I've only sharpened like 4-5 knives with it. But I already can see how the wider stone would be nice. Thinking about ordering the KME gold series 3 stone set. The GritOMatic website for that holder says it'll hold KME specific stones .. but they don't have the dovetail.
Hell yeah bro! Glad you pulled the trigger on those inexpensive upgrades. You’ll see the difference. no need to buy the pro if you’ve already got the precision adjust.. I’m going to get a digital angle finder next. Gritomatic website has everything
The scratches on your blade is due to the downward flex of your knife while sharpening, which allowed the stones to scratch the area behind your edge. Basically - as the blade flexed down during some strokes, the stones touched the blade above your edge. When you use the brace to stop the flex, it won't occur.
Man scratching that blade made me cringe. That really sucks. The 120 is aggressive but it shouldn't be scratching up your blade. So the angle isn't good on the system with that new holder. It's not sitting correctly. Its definitely changed the angle. A 25 degree angle is what you would use for a bushcraft knife. The highest you ever want to go is 20 for a normal knife. Probably due to the stones being bigger. Thicker. So it's touching the cutting edge but also because it's so big it's touching the top op of the knife. And the holder is a different size so it could be throwing off the angle. What i would advise is study what stones other systems have. And just get the exact same grit stones. And always get the diamonds. Im sure you can get ceramic stones as well. To fit in that new holder. Sorry about the knife.
Ah yeah that makes sense. I should have just gotten the more expensive diamond stones. I’ll be getting those when I can afford it. I appreciate the good info brother!
@@doodysdaggers I also ordered the digital angle tool. The larger stone will mean the angle markings on the WSPA are off. To get a 20° angle you likely will need to have the WSPA at 22-23° to compensate for the larger distance between the blade and the rod. I plan on recording my notes based off of the angle from the digital tool and ignoring the stickers on the WSPA.
@@delta9jms ah I see. That’s smart. I guess a digital angle finder is the only way to do it accurately. And now my notes from all past knives I’ve sharpened will be useless with this new stone holder?

Damn nice! Yeah that thing should put a beautiful edge on your pm2

Okay I see, thank you! So if I continue to use these I should be soaking them beforehand
Stainless steels are not harder than
carbon steels tho. For example maxamet k390 and 15v.
@@Wiselys2018 run of the mill carbon steels are not 15v with a special heat treat and either way you wouldn't want to use wet stones for 15v or max.
I don't think It change the angle as everything gets the same elevation from a bigger base. @@haveagocommentator983

Awesome, the clamp downward movement was not good. I'm waiting for the pro version to come out. That's on my wishlist 😊
It is really nice for sure!
You’ve got the stones 🪨🪨
Yeah, $25 for the product but $40 to post it to Australia - definitely not a $65 product - so frustrating and theres no way to contact these people

Yeah man it’s a big difference. I just need to get some nice diamond stones. Which stones you got in yours?

@@Knifedope alright yeah those were the ones I was looking at. Expensive. Like 45 a piece I think
@@doodysdaggers yeah unfortunately, they are a little pricey.
I love any vids about anything sharpening related!
Good stones, but how did the scratches on the blade
No idea! I don’t like these stones, I’ll be getting some Venev diamond stones instead

The scratches were probably debris from the stone and you scratched it with your fingers checking the edge.
Afyer watching for the first 5 minutes I'm thinking you shouldn't be handling anything sharper than a butter knife.
I like your videos, but it seems in this case that you should have watched a few first before making this one. 😁
I like to dive in without any research 😉

@Doody’s Daggers Jip. Indeed. New book time. You could see by comparing how much the average is. Then add it to your existing numbers
