    I bought a Lansky over 20 years ago and shortly after DMT came out with the diamond one and the plastic jig, I used the DMT stone's with the Lansky jig up until a few months ago when I bought the worksharp, I just got the upgrade kit and it does work awesome for the price. I'm still going to get a KME though.

    I use a KME Gold Deluxe with added beast stone, lapping film and strops. After watching a half dozen vids of Knife Krazy’s, i find his deburring system of doing a few against the grain passes to knock the bur off to keep the apex fresh. Makes for a very keen edge. Finishing off with the lapping films down to 0.10 micron. Beautiful mirror edge every time.

      Hi , i think this type of sharpening systems are not sharpening a blade on the original angle but on a forced angle and only if the blade is perfectly round with the same radius on the whole lenght of the blade this kind of system will work and i said not this sysytem but all the systems with only a pivot point.
      If you are not in accord with me, you can make a video to show with the electronic angle meter to show everybody in different spots of the blade it is a different angle and that can damage the blades and messed up your entire angle of the blade because when you haveTHE SAME HEIGHT BUT DIFFERENT DISTANCE, THE ANGLE BETWEEN THE BLADE AND STONE CHANGE, and THATS NOT GOOD FOR THE BLADES.
      After few sharpening sessions with these kind of systems you will have on a single blade a mutitude of angles that VARY with the shape of the blade, the more curves or chages of a direction of a blade has the more angles you'll have because, LIKE I SAID BEFORE, THE DISTANCE AND ANGLES ARE INVERSELY PROPORTIONAL then as one quantity increases, the other decreases.

    That knife looks awesome what knife is it? If you are just touching up a Knife that isn’t super dull do you start with the 600 then ceramic? I’m new to sharpening and just got the base version and am trying to figure everything out. Also do you have to raise a burr on the 600 grit as well. Thanks for any help

    • @gonad84
      @gonad84 2 года назад

      I only worry about forming the burr on 320 grit. Get both sides. Lightly flatten it back out, then proceed to the 600 and ceramic. Only do refining and polishing with your higher grits. Also buy a leather strop to finish on.

    When it comes to getting a burr on each side at what grit do you stop doing that on this system and switch to going back and forth one pass on each side?

    • @craigs7181
      @craigs7181 2 года назад +1

      I know its been a while since you've asked this question, but I've found that once I've developed a burr with the coarse stone, I can also feel that burr develope for the fine stone. I will then start polishing with the ceramic for a few minutes and then start switching back and forth from side to side with less and less passes each time I flip the blade.
      If you want to get a mirror edge, even with the standard system, use sweeping passes at the end of using each grit. In other words, after doing your up and down motions, sweep the edge on each side from heel to tip and back again a few times by sliding the stone sideways. I was able to get an extremely clean mirror finish that was very very sharp. However, I don't think that it cut any better than an edge that still has minor striations giving the knife a slightly "toothy" edge, it just looked pretty. I always use a little soapy water with all the grits when sharpening. And light pressure. You cannot be heavy handed with this system. I think this is a fantastic budget sharpening system. The results I've gotten have been outstanding.

    Awesome technique ya got there, man. Proof's in the puddin', right? The edge was just sliding through that thin paper as effortlessly as through water. I get my Work Sharp PAE day-after-tomorrow. Can't wait to sharpen some blades. I'm going to start out sharpening my cheapo Cuisinart kitchen knives, they're pretty dull. Then, after the stones are broken in, it's on to my Cold Steel stuff. I'm hoping that the Tai Pan will fit o'kay in the clamp. That 'V' shape looks like it'll let the opposite edge sit inside of it nicely. I'll just need to be careful not to let the edge blunt right up into the bottom of the "V" if you know what I'm saying. Anyway, awesome video!

    • @jimb8738
      @jimb8738 2 года назад +1

      Replying to myself rather than editing the above, I got my kit today and used it on a Cuisinart kitchen knife. Not being an expert by any stretch of the imagination I have to admit it was pretty awkward going. But I did manage to re-sharpen the dull knife so that it slices paper. I also stuck my Cold Steel dagger in the clamp (it fits fine) and stropped the 4 sides. It's a new knife and doesn't need sharpening, just stropping. Going to need some practice before I'm confident enough to tackle sharpening some of my other pocket knives and fixed blades. I have quite a collection, some of them really old (given to me from my deceased father-in-law) and I don't want to mess 'em up. 🤜💥🤛
