I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm ruclips.net/user/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.
This is brilliant. You just sold this system to me.
Ditto.
Hell yea im loading up the ol amazon cart right now! 🤪
Just bought mine on Amazon. Bout to put in work on my collection! Thanks for this solution! Gonna save tons of $$$
I used to do this with the 3M Wet/Dry papers up to #2500, with my KME rig.
I'd use double-sided tape, taped to the backs of the included DMT diamond plates.
Worked like a charm & very inexpensive...
Thank you for making this video! This changes the game for this sharpening system.
This video was awesome to watch. Especially, making razor sharp mirror edges. I already planned on getting one of these sharpeners. Now, im going to go that extra mile and do what you did. Thank you so much.
Best video of the year award goes to you sir!!!!
Thanks so much man
Agreed. Honestly
Man you’re awesome. Using this method I was able to get a mirror edge with a cheap not inexpensive but cheap Smith’s precision sharpener from Walmart.
Thanks again, glad it helped out.
Brilliant idea. I was ok using what came with the unit but this will be so easy. Thankyou.
Was not sure about this system but with this hack I’m sold. Thank You!👍🏻🙏🏻
Beautiful work, my friend. Thank you for this!
You sir have made my day!! I just ordered the Work Sharp a few minutes ago!!
I though about this idea so many times but never figured out the adhesive... in the past I've used super77 for a permanent bond but this this is a game changer I was planning to get a blitz360 form tsprof and a set of blanks to play with and thanks to you and your grand wisdoms here I know exactly what I'm going to do with them 😈 save a shit tone of time and money over the life of the sharpener and my own life for that matter... awesome video and I wish it was more Amin stream I was looking all over for ideas before I stumbled across this little gem! Thanks again for sharing its greatly appreciated!!!
🥃cheers🍻
I have to concur, “Brilliant!.” Thanks!
Thank you so much for your video. I just purchased the work sharp upgrade kit and this video was invaluable. I will, without a doubt, wil be buying all the items you used to get that mirror edge. I'm so happy I found you video! Awesome job!!!
Just put this vid to use as exactly as you did and it worked great! I am a newbie when it comes to sharpening blades but when I it took hair off my arm with easy i was super impressed. Thanks again.
I am really glad I found this. Brilliant!! Thank you
Why haven't i thought of this before? Excellent idea! Doing this with lansky! Thankyou!
Wow. Just discovered this video and it’s still amazing! Used your method to reprofile my Kershaw Cryo that I messed up on while learning to freehand sharpen on whetstone. Was able to slap on 100 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper and the adhesive worked fantastically. Thank you!
Like you said, a little goes a long way, and you do have to wait a while for it to initially get tacky so your sandpaper doesn’t slide around. With the coarser grit, it’s helpful to start slow and use a pull stroke only. After the grit settles in, then it’s easier to go up and down to hog off material faster.
Excellent idea, thanks for sharing. I’m def doing this.
Brilliant. I had a similiar idea for freehand. Lightweight in pack kind of thing. The 3M and the stone ( I’ll use lansky) just puts it over the top. Nice. Sir, you win the internet.
I just bought one and really thank you for sharing this, you are awesome!
my worksharp PA comes in the mail tomorrow and this was one of the things I was going to try.. excellent video! keep up the good work and thank you for confirming this for me.. keep the videos coming! just subscribed and liked
That is a GREAT idea. Thank you for the tip.
This video just saved me thousands of dollars!! Thank you so much
At first I was like I've been using 3m lapping films for years but that 3m stuff is awesome man.
Nice video
Great hack! Thank you! Ordered the 3M adhesive through your link.
Great idea and even more respect for sharing with people . Simple as it may seem sometimes we stumble across things that work excellent and like to tell people and im glad u did . I was in the fence about this due to no aftermarket stones of higher grit to polish except for my rant below . Being a resourceful person has allowed me to modify pretty much anything I want . I’ve been doing my blades with a ceramic rod and can get them to close to mirror but it’s a lot of work and sore arms holding everything perfect . I’m done with it and the leather wheel strop works great but marks up the blade or takes finish off . Great for tools tho bros 👍👍
Excellent I have bought the sharpener and was looking for replacement stones and could not find any, but your idea is by far the best way to go thankyou for sharing I look forward to trying this out.
subbed, cool advice. got the feathering disc adhesive and various grit sandpaper but then had two strokes in 2021 and loss total use of one hand and only partial use in that arm so my knives see minimal use/do not need sharpened any longer but good to know my eleven year old daughter and I have some things to experiment once hers get dulled or we tackle the cheap kitchen cutlery for her mom
Genius idea 👌🏻. That is mega polished edge.
Awesome video brother! iv thought about picking up this sharpener and you've sold me on it! thanks for the video!
I've been looking into buying upgrades for mine & this just sold me.
Thank you for the info. Just tried and results are amazing. Mirror edge in no time. This is great. Thanks you sweetknives.
Fantastic!
@@Sweetknives would u gain anything from stropping or does the fine grit make stropping unnecessary?
Amazing exactly what I was looking for
Thank you so much. I bought this system the day it hit amazon. I love this system and have pretty much wore out the two diamond stones. This has taken about a hundred knives to do and they still work but it's taking an hour to get an edge on a cpm s30V blade when it was new I could do that in 10 minutes. Due to high demand I can not get replacement stones. This will buy me alot more time before replacement stones are needed what a godsend.Thank you sir.
The harder steels like S30V do take more time, especially with the included 320 grit, you really need like 100 grit or less on the early stages with those types of blade steels.
Very nice. I have one of these sharpeners on the way, and I am very excited.
SUPER excited now that I already have one of these ON THE WAY l. It had finally shipped after weeks of being out of stock. Your idea is straight up amazing 💡
You will love it.
Awesome idea. You just turned my work sharp into a do all. Amazing
This is so great 😀!! Thanks a million. Keep up the great work.
Thank you! Will do!
I looked high and low for this 3m stuff and couldnt find it I got "Aleenes tack it over and over" its like 4 bucks for a 4 oz bottle and it works perfectly. Its also water soluble so even if you leave it on overnight you can just scrub it off. I literally just did my first 2 knives on this up to 10,000 grit and it works like a freaking charm I didnt even use any of the diamond grits because they seemed inconsistant with the sandpaper grits I got. Six bucks for 120-10000. so ten dollar investment for what would have cost hundreds. Great trick thank you so much!
Good information that 3M stuff is no where to be found.
I don’t know why you don’t have more subscribers? I’m here for as long as you’re around!! Awesome video
Fantastic idea thx for sharing. I've been thinking about buying a Work Sharp next week and you sealed the deal for me.
Glad I could help
That’s awesome with the sand paper and films. Wow my knives are gonna be looking sweet
Amazing vid. Thanks. Two thumbs up
I just got mine today it's fast and easy so far and the vid just makes it better
You can do clickbait advertisements for this video
"Knife sharpening companies HATE this one simple trick!"
I hate click bait. I avoid it and won't go back to a site that uses it. In this case, there might be some truth to knife sharpening companies hating this trick. They would rather sell you the accessories. It looks like he has several videos on using this sharpener.
Brilliant Very informative and eye opening Video! - Definitely going to be finding the gear to do that for when my Sharpener arrives! What a brilliant Money saving Hack! - Thank You so much x x x
Way to go!! Bravo 😊
great idea...loved your video I am going to try this, thanks
Great video, nicely done!!
Dude, amazing! I've wanted a system like the kme to the point that I built a clamp and guide bought the stones for it and all that to have something close. This, however, sure genius! Absolutley brilliant 👏 great stuff bud.
Glad I could help!
Very cool idea my man. Just subscribed and thanks for sharing. Stay well my friend.
Fantastic idea, way to use the knoggin. I’m in and thanks.
Nice idea, thank you.
I just bought this sharpener and was looking at the replacement abrasives on the work sharp website. All of the replacements were out of stock. Thanks for the info on the adhesive. This will definitely save me some money.
Glad I could help
great video!
Just ordered this while set up. I was gonna drop 350 on a kmi fixed angle. You saved me a ton of money
Neeves knives and liv them knives would be proud of you dude 😊👏
Bedankt voor deze uitstekend tip
Awesome idea bro!
Thanks a lot.
Great idea thanks !
Excellent idea
dope video great info excited to try this sharpener out.
Awesome info. 🦊
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
very good tip
I already own the sharpener, was about to buy replacement stones. Now I'm otw to auto zone for sand paper lol. Thanks man great vid
Good idea dude.. Gonna have to pick one of those up.
Good luck in finding one.
Seams good, lots of options.
Very cool!
Nice video buddy!!
great vid, thanks!:)
Excellent idea and video. I apologize for not saying that initially.
Thanks
Very sharp, below a 100 is most excellent!
That blade Cane out just as nice as all the expensive systems on You Tube and you weren’t really trying.
I have the higher end version of the PA. it included 6 grits and a leather strop. I love mine
Cool Shades ! L. O. L.
I need my glasses nowadays. 😁🦊😉
I bought the precision sharp, already knowing that someone would come up with some type or alternate holder to hold different brands of stones, and WS will have their branded other grits eventually. But this is awesome thanks for sharing this. I had never heard of this 3M product. This will save me some money! Lol
Oh forgot to ask what camera setup are you using?
Literally!!!
"Merry Christmas to all "!!! Hey thanks, as I'm only able to make a knife some what duller since difficulties w/arm and hands doesn't work well freehand sharpening!! W/o the big bucks, anything much above your setup is out of range for me, for sure!!! Great going. Ya won't see anyone else do these because they want to sell you something and make money, the takers not savers!! Great job, again thanks, for sure!!! Be safe, take care, "God Bless", sincerely, Randy. 👍👍🙏🏻😇👊
Alright I’m sold
Very cool. I don't have that particular Victorinox, but looks like it would be hard to sharpen on my wicked edge even with the low angle adapter. Thank for the tip on that adhesive, that stuff looks pretty impressive.
That's actually a great point, the Wicked Edge does have issues with these types of knives unless you have the low angle adapter, thanks again.
Great idea

I just use double sided carpet tape. Works great and removes easily
I was just trying to figure out the best way to use automotive paper when the algorithm popped this up in the background. Now I know a) it wasn't as bad an idea as I usually come up with, and b) ... fuckin' A. Thanks!
Oh and subscribed
The sharpener was in my Amazon cart and I was reading and watching people say they wish there were more stones available, but you just sold me. I'll be ordering the compound from your link too. Can't wait to cut those strips and get a mirror edge. BTW what degree angle were you sharpening at? I read that if you get low enough on a narrow knife the clamp will get in the way of the stones.
Genius 👍
YEAH! THIS IS THE 3RD VIDEO I'VE SEEN ON THE WORKSHARP .this is The Best one yet ! Thanks for the Tips. I've spent alot of money on Lapping film. For my pricey! System. Your help is going to save me Money and give me a Better mirror finish! What about strop? That would make mirror edge even better!! NEW Subscriber
Keep Up the great Video's
😉😁🦊😄🐅😉🐅🐺
With the high lapping films above 3000, 6000 grit, or 6 micron you dont need to strop. Its personal preference but I have found with the ultra high lapping films you dont need to strop at all if you have your angle lined up right.
Great ideas! Thank you. Have you considered Nano tape in lieu of the 3m compound? No residue. Super sticky. Can even be washed if dirt collects on it over time. Much cheaper too
Awesome review. I ordered one of these sharpeners and then cancelled it. I was going to get a KME for 5x the cost but a tube of that 3M adhesive and all the sandpaper grits I want and this sharpened will be perfect!
Good choice!

Nice
After watching your video multiple times i have an idea about my spyderco triangle sharpener with the white ceramic stones and the paper and adhesive. Mainly with the coarser paper and very little pressure. Being careful I do believe it will work. Awesome video. In my opinion it is the best on RUclips. I will probably buy this sharpener when they are available.
Awesome to hear you liked the video, hopefully it works for you on the Spyderco triangle sharpener too.
@@Sweetknives I really think it will work on the triangle stones as well if a person uses the right grit paper and doesn’t apply too much pressure. Use the weight of the knife for the amount of pressure. The worst part is buying the adhesive. $30.00. Like you say it will last forever.
If I order 2 ceramic replacement stones I could essentially have a 3 sided system exactly how I want it using your hack.
Mahalos from Hawaii
With a little research you can find 3 M pressure sensitive abrasives (PSA) plastic backed . It comes in all grits in full sized sheets. I use cut strips with the ceramic Lansky stone.
I just bought psa lapping film from the Taylor company he spoke of. 14$ for 7 grits
I have seen the PSA backed. The question is.... if you put this on the ceramic side can you take it off easily and reuse or is the ceramic side ruined after? It's actually cheaper with the PSA being you don't need to fork out 20 plus bucks for the adhesive.
@@Cracktower1 It peels right off. It may leave a little adhesive that rubs off with a thumb.
Dude! You have shown us the holy grail! I ordered everything as soon as the video was over. Just a note. The adhesive is now $40 😬. I am stoked to get my supplies. Sharpener arrives today, the papers tomorrow and hopefully the adhesive comes soon too. Thanks for the great idea! I ordered this sharpener before I saw you video and was tempted to send it back but now.... nope! Mirror on a Swiss Arm Knife, 🤯
Glad you like it. Thanks
3M 77 spray adhesive is just as good if not not better and easier to use and cost a LOT less.
I've been using it for years. (also sold at Wally world).
KnifeMaker
Ha that’s so ironic. I literally was sprucing up my edge tonight and I panicked a little cause I couldn’t find my adhesive. Good to know there is a cheaper alternative!!
@@michaell39777 is a permanent bond.
After someone here mentioned double sided tape, I went ahead and got a roll of 3M Scotch Removable double sided tape commonly used for photos and pictures. It also works like a charm. The tape is wider than the stone and I had to trim it using a Xacto knife but it works almost exactly like your adhesive and for one-third of the cost. 👍🏻
I'm currently trying this system with my Maxamet PM3 and will see if I can put a mirrored edge there. Fingers crossed.
Great idea!
@@Sweetknives Thanks! By the way, what was your sharpening angle on this video?
@@MrDands close to 20 degrees
