- The first in what I hope will be a series of videos looking at Buffy the Vampire Slayer through the show's costume design. I look at Buffy herself and her fashion over the course of seven seasons.

Can’t believe I just saw this now! This analysis on her style is amazing! Buffy doesn’t get enough credit for her style choices! I feel like with the rise of the 90’s trends, if Buffy was on Netflix, it would be all the rage even with the tiktok generation! Haha
Please don't call young people the "tiktok generation", cheers. (This wasn't meant to be rude, it's just such a cheesy term lol)
Thing is Buffy The Vampire Slayer was on netflix but the problem is they made it HD which revealed the double stunts, crew in the background.

I like Buffy’s clothes probably the best in seasons 4 and 5.
Season 5 was Buffy's peak wardrobe and physique
S1&S3 were the most iconic fashions for Buffy IMO. S1 was that transition period between the mid 90s and late 90s S3 was the transition period between the late 90s early 2000s.
Can I just say; not only is this a great little video essay, but the video title absolutely slays!

I really loved her depressed looks in seasons 2/3. One specifically was her overalls! If you notice when she was dealing with something overwhelming It was something she wore when she was feeling vulnerable.

This is a great video! I hadn't thought this closely about the fashion choices before, but everything you said makes complete sense - I can see how her outfits evolved based on her character and mindset. It's really insightful! Thanks for sharing :)
LOVE this!! I feel like I grew up with Buffy - I didn't even watch it when it was on (I was too young to be that interested) but I started it when I was in high school (and Buffy was too), and I finished season 7, when Buffy is in her early 20s, when I was 23. It's my favorite show in the world.

I can't wait to see more in this series! One of my biggest pet peeves about Buffy's fashion is just how many numbered shirts everyone wears in Season 5. I would be interested on your take regarding that particular costume decision.
Cynthia Bergstrom has said the numbers don't mean anything; so I guess they are like the cheeseman, we can make up our own meaning. I will have to think about the numbers thing and see if I come up with anything.

This is your FIRST video? Holy crap. I love Buffy, but my understandning of fashion does not go far. I was happy to simply find a Buffy video from a perspective I cant see for myself. I could have sufferd through a half way ok video on this topic, but this was very enjoyable. Thanks!

Just found your channel through your response to Abigail Thorn and although I've never watched Buffy and I know nothing about the show, I've grown a little curious about costume design so I figured why not check out everything else you've made on this channel. I love this! There’s a lot of things i’d noticed before, and quite a bit I hadn’t, but you put it all into perspective and I love it i love it I love it! One thing, i did a rewatch of the series with a friend recently who was watching it for the first time, and as we got to season 5 and 6 she noticed that Buffy was dressing like Spike a lot of the time, namely with the black leather coats. I’d be interested to know what your take is on that.

When you’re costuming something it’s common to have similarities not how you costume couples or people with a connection you want to emphasize. The audience sees a connection even if they aren’t aware they see it. I plan to do videos on the main ships; Bangel, Fuffy, and Spuffy.

Very clever explanation of Buffy's wardrobe, i think. Great Buffy study. Season one is so sexy and funny, that give the direction for the complexity of her caracter in the whole serie ! "Hello, I am an enormous slut !" "I used to be so good at this !"

It's been a year since I actually found this channel and while I don't get all too involved with some of your subjects, like f.e. the Charisma Carpenter video, and I am less connected to Buffy than some of the fans here are, I still love these kinds of essays, as they help me with storytelling in more ways than one. While I watch this channel, I always notice that you seem to have aborted your Buffy Costume series. You have Buffy herself, Giles, Xander, the video about the Buffy suits and one video about the color language in Buffy. There is much more to say though on this subject. Will you pick this work up again or did you stop it forever?
After everything with Charisma I just wasn’t inspired to do Buffy stuff for a while. I have thought about picking it up again and have notes on a few things. It’s always difficult trying to predict anything with my ADHD, so I can’t really say when I will revisit Buffy, but I do intend to one of these days.
Sorry that isn’t much of an answer. Yes I will make more if my brain lets me.
