Back during the exodus, there was this wave of content creators from WoW who suddenly found a game that encourage this kind of creativity, a surplus of tools to make these videos and a community that embraced it all. You're going to find a great number of WoW youtubers who made some fantastic videos in these days.

During the Halloween events there's a gimmick where an imp will turn you into any number of story characters, from heads of state to Scions. He probably did that with his FC mates for Nanamo, Thancred, Raubahn & Minfilia and then did the emotes.
Possible, though more practical would be the Anamnesis tool.
You can only do that in that zone so no greenscreen to snip out the model

The housing thing was a nightmare in the truest sense of the word. I don't know if the lottery is the best system we could have, but it's light years better than we used to have. Glad it's gone.

this is one area i dont the thinking process on myself. I saw ine person saying "the technology ruins ff14 for me, i prefer how much more grounded WoW is" which im just....i dont get that view. sure, prefer wow for various reasons. they are different gsmes, each with different appeals. But in terms of technology-within-fantasy, they both do it. a lot. and constantly.

@@FranWest. true. IMO, its excuses someone uses when they dont like ff14, but dont really know why so they use these excuses that, really, dont make sense.
Personally, i respect people if they say "its just not for me" "the focus on story is too much" "i cant get over the beginning gameplay" etc. Or even a simple "im not sure, i just dont care for it" is way more respectable than clearly flawed statements like "too much technology" or "its for furries"

whoever wrote that note that the ad can be skipped needs a slap! you NEVER skip pints adverts! he's up there with Internet historian on the quality of his ads
Regarding the NPCs, there is a mod that can replace your model with any other one, including those of NPCs. So you could do that and then do the keying in front of a green screen. For Minfilia though, you can pretty much create her in game, her face, hair and outfit are all available to select or purchase.

I remember spending hours on end trying to get a house and always losing to a relocator.... I think the longest time I spent before a relocator moving to the plot was 32 hours straight of clicking the damn placard....
The sound you're talking about around the 4:30-ish mark is the Among Us sound clip when a player is picked as an Imposter at the beginning of a round.
The car is amazing because you go on Bro Trips with you and your three friends. I will never not love the car.

Funny thing about the housing, I had to stop playing immediately after Endwalker because of personal reasons and I was sad that I was going to lose my house. But then I thought about how my house is located in a nice plot and someone else is going to move in and appreciate and it wasn't so bad anymore. Came back a week ago and met the new owners, turns out they turned it into a catgirl cafe and I love it.

so basically you can use this thing called Anam/nesis that lets you not only swap your own character's model with any other model in the game but also lets you do custom poses like you were in a 3d animation software, and then gshade has a whole ass greenscreen built into it, so you can just key out your character in real time in the game if you wanted to (and had a strong enough pc lmao)
and before anyone asks why im censoring stuff, yknow, just in case :*) i know this aint twitter but at the same time who knows
I get the knee jerk "why are there robots in fantasy" vibe. I used to be the same way. But there is _so much_ of that sci-fi/fantasy around at this point that I feel it shouldn't even be surprising anymore. Though I still do love my pure fantasy. The car and the bike do still push it a bit for me, even though I use both regularly, because they don't fit with the style FFXIV has built for its sci-fantasy, but they're both borrowed from other games so its not surprising they don't exactly mesh.

Yeah Pint edits purely in After Effects, and it takes actual months. He's been working on his next vid for the last 6 months now.
4:30 - that sfx is used in big brother when something bad happens as a added "drama" noice, and it's actualy the sound of a violin bow being played terriblly, i.e. a unsettling noice - drama.

started playing XIV because I heard there were nier raids, and if you know Yoko Taro, some important piece of story lore would be contained inside this small crossover. have yet to get to them yet
The Random Housing timer was an attempt to deal with people buying houses just to sell them for exorbitant prices. It strongly encouraged gold buying even though you can get banned for that. It resulted in people making bots just to buy a house and tons of stress on honest players. I know someone who spent 8 hours doing this just for someone to transfer plots into that one (because pot transfer doesn't have to wait on the timer).
As a FF6 enjoyer, the hatred of the Magitek armor was a big wince

(but imo, they should do a combo of lottery & "savage housing".., so some who put in the effort can actually get rewarded.., now it's more about, which FC has the most members to all bid on the same house...)
These days, FC's don't really have problems getting an Ishgard house because they locked a bunch of wards to just FCs.
I got super lucky getting a house before the lottery. On controller, you just had to mash confirm while holding left on the d-pad, the cursor would go to purchase lot every time for max efficiency.
This not how housing works nowadays lol they changed it this year to be a Lottery system instead of whoever is first
Skipping Pint's sponsor ads is heresy, as is skipping any content creator's ads when they put just as much effort in. That said I do skip the ones who read it off the script, because if I didn't I'd be muting them or switching to something else.
Pint likely uses Gshade's Chroma key functions to greenscreen the avatar and just play and record the emotes.
There may or may not be a 3rd party program that allows you to do a lot of client side stuff like changing time of day. Change NPC outfits, customisation or even change an a NPC to look like another existing NPC.
You can also use it to force the NPC to perform emotes or change its position in the world locally.
This is all done in Gpose.

The magitek stuff originates in Final Fantasy 6, the Magitek Reaper armor even being based off of concept work for that game and the Magitek Predator being based on sprites.

IIRC you can separate objects wigh gshade, haven't used it for a long time as it slow down booting up ffxiv and I got dced way too often before.

I'm so glad the Torghast joke made Garret laugh. I don't play WoW, all I know is that Torghast was like the in-universe Hell, and the devs made it truly hell not by aesthetic but by game design.
It was fun in the beta, but for some reason they decided to make it torturous.
