FANTASTIC EPISODE!! This felt like a set of interviews with some of the "who's who" of modern whisky-tube!
Glad you enjoyed it and couldn’t agree more - some seriously cool guests in this one. Sláinte 🥃
'Overcooked' episode lads! 😆 love it!
We’d certainly had a skinful by this point! Glad you enjoyed it my friend 🥃🥃
Nadia was incredibly charming and almost completely distracted me from Stevie’s obnoxious black-rod loving mug 🤣
😂 love it. Really enjoyed sitting down with all of these guests - definitely a welcomed addition to myself and the other two plebs
Great episode chaps. Btw Jake, maybe Try Hellyers Road 15 Year Old Slightly Peated expression Whisky (46.2%) Tasmanian & It’s class. It’s beat out a few heavy hitters in a blind tasting I hosted not so long ago. A really delicate complex dram with hints of peat smoke in the style of a decent Indy Bowmore. Very nice £100 mind you. Cheap as chips eh ! 🤣. All the best
Ah, now that sounds like a real winner! Appreciate the suggestion and will see if I can hunt a bottle down. Sláinte Malt Monk!
Ive actually had a sample of a 1970 50 year old North of Scotland. (The bottle is still available)
Where can you buy it and what are your thoughts? I really enjoyed that expression myself, even if Stevie and Ian didn’t think it was worth the money
@@TheWhiskyBaron Had a dram at Whiskey in Leiden (festival) last year.
Was a really good ram and well worth the €20 if the €599 bottle was in my price range I'd have it no doubt. I mean it's 50 years old, has to be a steal at that price.... (The sample came home with me so I sat down with it)
@@danielwilliams7925 it’s not cheap but as you say, 50Y/O liquid from a closed distillery.. certainly worth considering at least. Thanks for the recommendation - I’ll see if I can sample before jumping on a bottle to make sure it hits the mark for me. Sláinte Daniel 🥃
Loved this episode and represent from South Australia, whoooooa! We have a lot of cool artisan/craft distilleries here, and hopefully you guys are able to experience them one day 🤌🏼
Thanks for the support as always JJ - the Australian dram was an interesting one for sure and definitely lit a spark in me to explore more in this category. Let us know if there’s a particular brand you enjoy from your side of the world 🥃
@@TheWhiskyBaron Yeah! I've got a few, but don't know how many there are available in your neck of the woods. I like Tria Prima, Iniquity & Fleurieu Distillery, all are locals to me :) Now that I think about, all three of these distilleries have been featured in the "That Boutique-Y Whisky Company's Return to Oz" series, so you should be able to pick em' up 😲
@@jimmyjazz4605 oh cool - I’ll have a chat with the Boutique-y team and see if they have anything left over. Thanks JJ, you’re a legend!
@@TheWhiskyBaron That would be something else! Thanks guys 🙏🏼
Austr-Aliens on the mic at around 35:00? 😆
👍
As much as I disagree with Stevie I would never argue (maybe debate) but because he never falters from what HE enjoys. I like being dominated in the mouth too but not for every distillery. The johnnie walker effect im calling it, is when you disagree with a brand on their marketing and value (blue label) and believe if you changed it, it would be better. But I think there are some things that don't need to be changed, for example I DONT think Blue label would be better non chillfiltered and cask strength. I do disagree with price point though. This could be fleshed out more but I'm lazy and it's RUclips
Olivia is also spot on, love her perspective and everyone needs more of it
@@jacobcalix3774thank you 😊😊
He’s a man who knows what he likes alright! Although he is open minded and always up for a debate, even if you can’t swing his opinion.
I appreciate your point and get what you mean. I think it depends where you’re at in your whisky journey - I definitely went through a stage of wanting more from everything I tried below 50%. Each to their own though
@@jacobcalix3774this I agree with completely - Liv is an absolute legend. Check out her podcast if you haven’t already
I lost count but check Whiskybase as I recall there were at least 30 different single casks of the 17yo (M) from Signatory. I have three or four different ones. £140 for cask strength Macallan - bargain. Oosh!
Agree, tasted it Abt a week ago at the Malt Vault in Utrecht. If only is caught it before. Just picked up a bottle of the 18 y cask that Signatory have just released.
OOSH! Good man Steve, great shout and appreciate the input as always. Any of them particularly stand out above the others or are they fairly consistent?
@@danielwilliams7925have you opened it yet or one you’re saving?
@@TheWhiskyBaron Not yet, probably opening it this weekend.
@@danielwilliams7925 would very much appreciate hearing your thoughts when you do! Enjoy my friend 🥃🥃
