About The Serenity Dagger
The blade will be 16 inches long with an aggressive taper, multiple fullers (blood grooves) on the ricasso, and one main fuller running down the blade. The blade will be made of a one-of-a-kind mosaic Damascus.
The fittings will be gun-blued steel with gold inlays and a new technique I've been working on, Damascene.
The handle is going to be extra special. Mom, Josh, and I just traveled 2,400 miles in search of beautiful stones and found a wonderful piece of purple/lavender Charoite. This will be my first knife to have a stone handle. I've wanted to add stone handles to my art knives for many years now and I'm so excited that the time has finally come to give it a shot!

Whenever I watch your videos my head goes into, "If I ever have a Lotto win..." frame of mind. I would respectfully commission you and your dad to make me three knives. A heavy chopper, a skinner, and a fancy wood-carving knife. But hey, I doubt I'll ever win Lotto, so I'll just admire the work you folks do.
You could probably make them yourself! There's enough information in these videos to get you started.
@@timbodnar6711 Tools and space, my friend. Tools and space. Something I am very short of when it comes to forging knives.
Me to Brad! But I'd pay them to teach me. If the lottery ticket wins, I'd pay them double! We all should be so lucky as to have such a good father
@@BradGryphonn I had a welding and fab shop. I'd let guys use my equipment to make cool shit. Maybe make some friends in the industry.
I'd commission a hand and a half sword and reunify the British isles!
I love watching an Artisan at work, even better when they make the effort to explain the process. Much Love.
Loving the multiple patterns. Hating that I have to wait for the next video. Always enjoying my favorite channel!
That pattern is definitely looking nice. I am looking forward to seeing the final piece.
Would love to see a fossil Damascus build one day from the cut offs. Kinda a hystory blade from all the projects you've done. Can't wait to see the pattern on this current project.
Dad's jig break is excellent and should happen every day.
That is one beautiful pattern. Can’t wait to see it on the blade. The symmetry will look great on the dagger.
If I was a king I would commision Kyle and dad for every piece of metal and exotic material works. They are from another realm.!!!
That pattern looks epic!! I can't wait for the finished product.👍🏻😎👍🏻
It looks so cold there ! I had to turn down my A/C and hold my coffee closer.
I don't know if this was on purpose but I like the new format of the videos, more information and less annoying music
I literally can not wait till part 3 of this knife build that pattern is going to be insane 😁
Kyle, your patterning is insane. This almost looks like butterflies 🦋. My jaw literally dropped. Keep it up, man!
Crazy pattern on this one. This build is going to be nuts with big and small detail. It's cool to see you pushing your comfort zone with new patterns and methods.
Great video. Go Team Royer!
"Its time to get a handle on the situation" and "its shiny when you wire wheel it" are his catchphrases
it's a joy coming along on these build journeys. You are indeed a true master of your art. Champing at the bit for further installments on this build
Your patience and attention to detail would make you great at anything but I’m glad you choose knife making.
I love how the scale forms an X on the end of the billet when you're putting it in the press. The pattern kind of reminds me of a butterfly- very interesting. Thanks for posting.
Good grief Man, you're a genius!
You come up with ideas I couldn't have imagined if I was left in a cave for 1000 years!
Hey 👋 Kyle how you doing buddy ohhh my God!!..whatever you are doing I know it's going to be awesome!! 👌
"Time to get a handle on the situation" pun intended 😂
Your videos are always well made and authentic, and the items you make are stunning.
It's a amazing that you have a customer base that can afford these beautiful creations and keep you in business to make more awesome videos
Super, super, super. I will be waiting for the third video.
The part where you stopped talking for dad to do a little jig was really funny lmao. I'm excited bud can't wait to see how this comes out. I hope to try blacksmithing one day. I love to swing my hammer as a carpenter, do I think I'd really enjoy this. Stay safe bro
Hey thanks Frankie. Glad you are here my friend.
Dad
@@KyleRoyerKnives hey no problem, you guys make some awesome stuff and it's a lot of fun to watch
Thank you boys! Kyle you might be the star but it's obvious that you guys are a team. I was feeding and haying horses in all that snow a few miles south of you. Thanks again! I am very excited for the final.
The patterns you make are... just unbelievable. If I were rich, what I would pay to own one!
Every video you do has a very oddly satisfying experience with it lol
You sir, are an artist. I can’t help but wonder though how mutch easier it would be to work in the metric system. 3 &1/5 quarter inch calculations would blow my mind.
i want to see you smoosh previous damascus designs together. Maybe you could have a Turkish rug looking thing going on by doing that.
This pattern should be your most dramatic yet!
I recognise that dance your dad did, we do something similar when we have a tricky process to do in the shop to appease the workshop goblins and prevent them from sabotaging it.
I would love to have some stickers with your logo for my tool box! Absolutely love the videos and the amount of work you put into them but mor so the amount of work you put into your art!
Love watching a master at work!🍻
JUST ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Kyle!!! I know... I tend to start off this same way! Kinda Repetitive, but... nonetheless: Truth... IS Truth! Kyle, you pretty much seem to equal or surpass your unequaled Master Smithmanship with each creation! Thank You Sir! J
The Fabled Dad-Royer and his Jig-welding. Not oft spoken of!
Damn that pattern is starting to look amazing!
I'll be waiting for the next episode for sure..
Looks great, you certainly put a lot of time and effort into getting it just right, top job! Regards from Down Under.
Wow! I'm in love with your cutlery. It is exquisite!! I love it, add to the fact that you and yours are pretty cool peeps.
Hey thanks my Marine friend. Cheers.
Dad
Hello Kyle! Hope you are doing well!
That pattern is amazing
Absolutely insane pattern. You are very talented !
Love your work sir, always a pleasure
That is looking spectacular.
God bless you and your family. Very nice job
Kyle, man if I ever get as good as you, I'll be trying this pattern, looks like daisies, my woman would love it in a french style chef's knife!
Do you have a video on how you ,and your dad built the forge? Things are so high, is it cheaper to build?
G'day Kyle. Relaxing and informative. Have a thumb mate. Catch you on the next video.
Could you please make a a series of functional knives
Kyle, you are indeed amazing at your craft and its so artistic. What properties does the glue have? I presume it doesn't leave a layer in between the metal like a normal glue or the weld would have cold shuts? Just interested. Sir, love your channel.
Really random question…..what is the ‘you got it’ sample from? A movie I think…but which one, please
looking awsome
Very nicely done so far! This video has more or less convinced me to buy a more powerful press instead of a power hammer; if you can make mosaic this precisely without a power hammer I should be able to at least approximate your process. Thanks!
Te felicito amigo desde Argentina te felicito
Great master!
Thanks for sharing 🙏
What do you do with the scraps that remain of other knives?
I guess that will be fun to assemble these various patterns together.
Eyyyyyy. Missouri brother!
Just found your channel, you're a tremendous artist sir! Do you use a modified coal forge or a propane one?
Amazing..by by
Looks like the X Box 360 boot screen 6:24
I'm happy to get my foot in my underwear and here you are creating a masterpiece
Maybe a good tip: buy black and white clay (or other colours with high contrast) and make an example of what's going to happen. Using a piece of clay, larger than the metal object, will very clearly visualize what's going on.
Please give this a try.
Не вероятно красивый узор на начальном этапе!Представляю какой конечный будет результат!Ты прям художник !
Good!
hey, do you sell the knifes you make ? if so do you have a link please? thank you x
i love your content, sir, but why don’t you wear a grind shield?
The chop saw on the ground triggers my ocd so bad lol. Such a nice shop, is there really no free counterspace?
Kyle, so the CA glue does not affect your forge welds? I would think it would leave a residue behind that would affect the cleanliness of the billet and not forge weld where the glue was. If that isnt the case I will definitely be using it on my next projects! Thanks, Nick from NJ.
Now I know how dad got mom, did you guys see those groovy dance moves? What a stud muffin. Woman want him, men want to be him, dad.
If you want, we can send some more snow your way, we have just over 6-7 feet and it's still coming down. Take all you want!
Really like watch your videos. Have you ever thought about doing a million layer damascus sword or knife?
How much wheight of metal do you loose during restacking and forging before you get the final bar?
Good morning I’m in Bertrand Mo
Would like to see what you have for sale in Damascus I know your knives are pricey and rightfully so but I’m still interested in them along with the sheaths for them
I saw a drum cymbal… IS BRO A DRUMMER???!!
Is there a specific reason that you don't use a sand blast cabinet to remove the scale?
You say that...but we got about 8 inches here in Lincoln, NE...and I just hand-shoveled 1500 square feet of it. I think snow is pretty, don't get me wrong, but yeah...that sucked.
If a had the money I would have you make a witcher type mosaic style sword
9:25 its funny Kyle can't tell, but we can make out the "X" from the forged seams just fine.
Also what makes you choose between when to use the belts, the grinder, or the big grinding machine you have to make clean faces?
looking great, Kyle!
Better thumbnail this time. No soyface. Well done.
The pattern looks amazing!
Hello I had a question I wanted to know if a cutler could earn a living just by doing this job is it for my orientation?
I'm in highschool
Thanks!
"which corners was I just pushing on"
I frequently wonder how, when re-squaring, one keeps track of that..
Just a random thought, do you have hex dies? I was thinking a hex tile Damascus could be interesting/pretty.
Was your dad doing some JIG welding
You are a Damascus wizard 🤣
I got a little bit concerned when you had that brief moment of confusion on your first or second re square
Have you every thought about making a Cutlery set for the kitchen? 4 Butter knives, 4 Spoons, 4 Forks, ETC.. ? I would rather have your Damascus than a solid silver set.
Kyle, do you ever use a power hammer? Don't think I've ever seen you use one and don't remember seeing one in your shop.
He did use one in Australia when teaching a class a couple years ago, but doesn't have one in his workshop...
😎 👍🏼
-knifemakers don’t make mistakes; only shorter blades-
Your work is soooo fantastic, it boarder lines madness. 👏 bravo.
You know it would be cool if you made Damascus billets nothing crazy, just layers and handle squares and sent them out with your course. That way people are almost ahead of the game and they can re-square stuff if they want but they have everything they need
I'll bet that guitar hanging on the wall has suffered damage from having the shop doors open in the winter.
It needs to be kept in a case in the house.
I'm surprised CA doesn't hurt the forge weld at all
WOW Just Fucking WOW!
Or would it be 1/4x1/4 in center don't think so but
👍👍👍
👍🏻☕️🔥⚔️
Yes doing math is not easy 😱🥺
Have you ever thought about making a gladius.
@@KyleRoyerKnives_____ hello, kyle this is sidney
A moment of silence for those who haven't found The Royer Family yet...😔
If you have to ask if it will stick in the forge, it likely won't.
