- I made a stone handle for my dagger we are calling Serenity! This is one of the most exciting and nerve-wracking things I have done. I am afraid the handle could break at any second while I tile saw it. Figuring out how to get it polished was tricky, but the end result is priceless!

Geologist specialising in alkaline rocks (like charoite) here. The black is aegirine, the honey coloured mineral is tinaksite. A lot of these are more sensitive to acid than typical stones, so some type of sealant might be helpful if it doesnt ruin the polish, if the piece is expected to be handled a lot
he can use a impregnation for stones. advice from a stone worker ;)
Looks incredible!
they’re minerals marie
@GAMMA82 you mean 'an' impregnation for stones...... from an English PhD holder 😄
@meddylad glad someone said it.
Great job! As a stone worker, I will say you did AWESOME on your 1st go! Charoite is fairly easy to work on but it can go sideways sometimes right about when you’re almost finished! But you ‘handled’ it VERY well and the results look Fantastic!! Way to go! Agate is a little harder but there are some truly wonderful patterns and colors. And jade, well you are gonna Love working with jade! 💎
Well done! I'm a rock hounder as well. You have probably just joined the dark-side (a simple play on rock dust. Make sure you use a mask that dust can be nasty on your lungs. The finer the grit the hotter the surface can get. Rock is not forgiving, Welcome to the madness.
Stoned worker? They should fire you bro
@@j-fb4596 why? i now nothing about rocks but whats wrong with his statement?
@@kaidenlangford2375 I think it's a joke. "Stoned" is a word used to describe people high drugs.
@@Thomas.Wright I do my best work high !!
I Love the way he’s always surprised when it’s perfect. No one else is surprised. He’s so darn humble lol.
I have to admit I thoroughly admire your artistry. You are without question a true Grand Master Smith. God bless you and all yours Sir.
Just by the thumbnail alone I can tell that's going to be epic.
I look forward to seeing you carve flowers and swirls into the next stone handle
This dagger is worthy of royalty 👑
that handle is absolutely majestic brother, well done
Violet Stone Burl. Beautiful!
"Etch a sketching" is a perfect description of that technique you were using on the lathe, lol. I love it !
The grain pattern of the stone is simply mesmerising. Looks like a nebula full of glowing gas.
This was absolutely stunning. 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Josh, IMHO you're doing great work on the videography!
That handle pops. Great work Kyle. Shout out to Josh. Without your camera skills and lighting, we wouldn't have been able to see the color blasting from the stone.
Go Team Royer!
"may the forge be with you" - good one :D incredible work
Love watching you create these magical pieces. Amazing that your entire family is dedicated to sharing the craft. Thanks for allowing us a view into your world.
Shaping and forming stones and gems is so much fun. Very addictive.
Your Craftsmanship is just on a unbelievable level
God tier craftsmanship
Your craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me.
If I only had the funds to commission you. 😒😔
Dude that handle is unbelievably gorgeous!
I can only imagine how comfortable holding the knife in my hand
That handle is just superb. Very well done sir.
True craftsman, dreaming of making new things with new techniques, absolutely a pleasure to watch!
One of the marks of a master is being able to visualise things beyond your current skillset. Executing them is impressive after several failures but to nail it the first time round. Hats off to you sir.
This dagger is becoming legend amigo.
I can't stop looking at the polished handle. It looks SO GOOD 😍😍😍
That Charoite is stunning, and the dendrite inclusions really give some character to it. When you start using stone for handle then you really get my interest going because I am a serious rock hound and can think of a thousand different stones that would be awesome as handle material you might also want to try giving Porcelain a try as well, but for that you'll have to learn pottery or have someone who IS a potter making your handles for you because pottery take a long time to master.
That is a stunning handle you crafted! can't wait for the next episode (still watching this one, but had to see the end result because I couldn't wait)
Ohhh that handle is a beauty!!
Love it. Following this all the way. Can't wait to see the finished dagger.
Absolutely stunning again!
Incredible build! I love how infectious your excitement is!
His mastery of all processes to create the final result is something to see!
The look of that stone is unreal, what an awesome material
Amazing job on this dagger so far. Love the color of that stone, very regal looking. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Been looking forward to this video all day!
It's looking amazing Kyle. I love how you keep trying new things and still make it look like you've been doing it for years.
Using water on a stone/tile bit is not only for lubrication, it's also for cooling. Creating the pool might work but the water will warm up and your bit won't stay sharp very long. Best to have a setup or at a minimum a semi continuous spray/flow of cool water.
That drill core gives me fountain pen ideas ❤
JAW JUST HIT THE FLOOR!!! 🤘🤘
Honestly cannot wait to see the rest of this & see it completed! I've really enjoyed this one, not that I dont enjoy the others you've done. I think it's just because I can feel you excitement and happiness of doing the stone handle, which looks beautiful too btw Kyle. You're so amazing n your attention to detail is way beyond others I've watched
I love that stone handle and I love even more how enthusiastic you are about it. I am anxiously waiting for the damascening video tough. I want to learn that
This pairs so beautifully with the blade, what a fantastic stone handle. Bravo Kyle
Excellent vid, well photographed and produced!
That handle up close resembles Van Gogh's Starry Night. Beautiful.
fabulous work on beautiful handle ! can't wait to see the final touch
There is so much depth to that stone. It is almost opalescent. Very beautiful.
Ok ..... now that's the best handle I've ever seen! Badass work bro
Wow, that’s sick! Gorgeous colors and shape.
I really appreciate you sharing your new techniques. I love that about the bladesmithing community.
Absolutely beautiful work Kyle.
That stone came out beautiful! Great work Kyle!
Amazing work, Kyle
Beautiful handle, and another skill learned, well done Kyle.
Absolutely gorgeous! SQUARE ⬛️
Artistry and excellence. Truly a joy to watch a master at work.
Absolutely love seeing your excitement and enthusiasm on trying something new. Also the larger bevels on the handle look really really good. Beautiful work as always.
This looks absolutely phenomenal! Incredible work Kyle!
this is absolutely beautyful!
Love your enthusiasm!
Beautiful handle, great work as always
That handle looks so beautiful! Smooth shape too!
Love the videos from the entire Royer team! Just binged parts 1-7 like a netflix show, incredible art and skill!
Beautiful, looks amazing, such beautiful colours. Regards from Down Under.
It has become habit now. OHHH YEAH!! It’s Friday! Getting excited you uploaded a video.
Outstanding, Kyle!
This is so cool! It is amazing to see knifemakers using gemstones in their work. The black inclusions are actually aegirine which occur in almost all charoite specimens. Also I love how far you dove into the world of lapidary work for this one video, it really shows your dedication to the craft.
Thank you for sharing!
That’s amazing. That is next level stuff there. What a challenge. Great work kyle. And josh because his camera work is why we are really able to appreciate this work correctly. 👍🏻
Gorgeous work! That turned out so beautiful it doesn’t seem possible! Amazing work Kyle!
I don't think words can express the mastery that someone can observe when they see your videos. You have mastered a craft that makes fantasies come to life and it's safe to say that you have inspired me to start working on knives myself. I am starting from zero and have only done a few light decorations on some pocket knife wooden handles. If you see this comment and have time to respond, I would dearly appreciate if you could share some insight on how to start making and working with knives
Hey thanks Helix
I like the moat idea. Slow and light fingertip pressure with water. I've put a piece of marble in a shallow pan and used a hole saw for tile. Perfect for the faucet set. The bugger in this is this is a very well made 20 minute video and you made it look easy. Time and patience are the biggest ingredient once the materials and tools are obtained. Much of which you can construct yourself if you collect electric motors to mount on a bench to make a buffer or grinder. Beautiful job.
wow well done sir ! love the purple stone ,i have never seen that kind before.
Kyle, I wana take the Time to thank you for your work and absolute commitment to whatever your doin on your art. Im absolutely in Love with your Videos, been watchin every Single one of them for about Two Years. Simply perfect! This knife is a work of art!
WTF... this is amazing design, so beautiful.
This man is a master craftsman. I'm amazed by damn near everything he creates
Wow. I follow many talented knife makers/artists on RUclips, and yours are by far the most refined and beautiful I've seen. I'm impressed
Wow... I mean, wow, wow, wow... The blade has reached the point where I'm speechless, and you're making it better... 🤯
This is an amazing build... What a challenge to tackle!
...niftyness.
Thanks for the post, absolutely awesomeness.
wow!!!! incredible work!!!
As always a wonderful informative video Kyle, that Dagger is going to be so nice when finished. I can't wait to see the next video.
awesome job, as always
This quote popped into my head while watching this - "Pivot! Pivot! Pivot!".
Kyle, this is INCREDIBLE !!!!!! and the finish... damn ! you are really a master in your art
Excellent! Thanks boys!
Stunning!
Beautiful work as always, i think your dagger has named itself, the handle reminds me of VanGough's Starry Night painting.
Love the purple color! Did I seriously just now notice that you turned your air compressor into a Minion!!! AWESOME!!! I have been so focused on your blades, I only saw the Star Wars posters. I am only half way through the video and if you do it later in the video .. my bad. But the purple stone "core" that you got from drilling the handle could be chopped up into small disks to inlay on other handles and such (like a guitar neck using pearl). That purple is soooo eye catching!
Amazing work!!
wow this looks sooo beautiful- respect
You are a wonderfully pure eccentric and brilliant artist. Bravo!
That looks absolutely beautiful, the grain in that stone is incredible.....I knew, you being the perfectionist that you are, that this was going to be nothing less than, PERFECT, when you were done with it.
Great job Kyle.
Take care, And be safe out there.
~Jonny5🥁
Josh is an unsung hero of this channel. He does as much passion producing these videos as Kyle does making knives. Good job Josh.
Copy that. Josh is crushing it. Flame on.
Dad
So inspiring, magnificent
Looks amazing!
Phenomenal. Wow.
