I was an Monkees tv series addict. Had the biggest crush on Davey Jones and Peter Tork. R.I. P. Davey R.I.P. Peter & R.I.P Michael. The Monkees were the Beatles of comedy. This was a situation comedy goes back to the 60’s.
If I could go back to anytime in my life, it would be back to the middle 60s. I was pretty little (born in Jan 1959), but my family life was perfect. And I would make sure I watched the Monkees show every week.
Wow.................grade school memories. We LOVED watching their TV show. Another made for tv band....had many great songs !! Sadly, only Mickey Dolenz is still with us. RIP Davy Jones, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith
Angela - Bedtime song huh? Davy Jones is the guy singing. I met him a few times. The Monkees along with Paul Revere & The Raiders were GREAT bands of the 1960's.
"Daydream Believer", a song about the loss of innocence and the anticipation of responsibility, is a timeless slice of pure pop by 'The Monkees', with a joyous swinging camaraderie to it, that's seldom been bettered since.
So sad that Davy Jones died of a heart attack, aged 66. Just a tremendous singer/pianist. Just loved 'Daydream Believer', definately my favourite song from their other fabulous songs. xx
Hello Angela: This is another group of talented musicians/vocalists who were pretty much denied serious recognition due to how they were marketed. It's always good to hear them again. Lots of memories...Thank you! ❤❤👍👍
Angela, you are so adorable! And I love your taste in music. Daydream Believer is one of the most upbeat infectious pop songs ever written. The Monkees were gifted and charismatic performers. As a youngster, I watched them on TV with my girlfriends. We all fell hopelessly in love with the handsome and charming Davy Jones. He was our matinee idol!
A very cute reaction. 🥰 Really like your singing and dancing 😊👌 Gave me a smile and made my day 🤗 And a damn good song too - but being an old fart, that’s wasn’t news to me 😂
ANGELA, you are just TOO CUTE!! It's funny, I just would have never thought that it could be used as a Lullabye LOL! Usually lullabies are slower, softer songs! HEY but whatever WORKS!! You sure had Davy's dance down pat TOO.. LOVED this reaction!
Good selection...I am a rock and roll/Blues and Jazz guy. This was a guilty pleasure for me too. Especially after I married a woman with 3 kids. 40 years later, I made the right choice. My other guilty pleasure is the Carpenters! " Merry Christmas Darling, be still my heart! You have a cool Mother! Though it's your grandma that was likely to be in my dating age. I am so old 😪
It's so great to see a youngin' like yourself enjoying ghos song so much, given that it came out the year I was born and I'm an old man of 55, lol. Good on ya! Keep that beautiful spirit alive!
You seem to have a very close relationship with your mom. That says a lot about a person. You must really be as sweet as you seem on your videos. This is a great song. I too love the song and The Monkees, and you sure have that Davy Jones dance pat. I love to watch you move to the music. That shows you are really feeling it. Thanks Angela.
Your laugh is so infectious!! Love it. In 1967 they outsold the Beatles and The Rolling stones...combined LOL!! Incredibly they earned 19 platinum albums. As a start up for what they were they are ranked as the # 27 on the top artists of the Rock era. Crazy stuff but so fun!
When Micky and Mike toured here in Australia a few years ago, I saw an interview with Micky where he admitted starting the story about them outselling the Beatles and the Stones. He thought it was amusing that everyone bought it.
When the song was presented to the monkeys it did not have that piano intro. The John Stewart song demo did not have it it was Peter tork who got on the piano and played that and it makes the song right? Love music and the serendipity behind the making of it....
The Monkees are the best! I grew up watching their tv show (reruns) in the early 70s, then happily experienced their resurgence in the late 80s. Their tv show is so amazing, and many of their songs are actually pretty deep, talking about the Vietnam war etc..Great singers, writers and musicians, I agree they don't get the respect they deserve, even though they're greatly beloved
America's answer to the Beatles, loved watching the Monkeys as a kid, have to admit though, you make it really hard to focus on the video, love the new dew,you look amazing
It's so awesome that your mom used to sing this to you! I sang/hummed it to my son, too! It was one of my favorites, along with: Michael Row Your Boat Ashore, Kumbaya, Away in the Manger and Braham's Lullaby. I don't think he liked it, though. Now, he's a metalhead. 😂
Combine a former TV series star, a British stage performer, an accomplished folk-rock musician and an accomplished country-rock songwriter -- all with pop-singing voices and ebullient personas -- and allow them to gel into a cohesive force -- and you have The Monkees. It's no wonder the network TV bigwigs couldn't keep them stuck inside that commercial box. I cracked up when I heard that Mike became so infuriated with the bigwigs that he threatened them with physical harm -- and to prove it he punched a hole in their wall with his fist!
Beautiful fun song..... loved those years when they were together ,, with their TV show very successful.... wonderful years and times..... loved your reaction Angela and singing along.... glad you love it also.... brings back wonderful memories of my teens..... thanks so much... and since today is Dec.. 29 th.. 2022...... Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and yours !!!!!!!!!
ANEGLA !!! You are so-o-o-o-o-o precious !!! How could you pick up that dance instantly ??? That was literally amazing !!! I've never seen anyone even try, and it was an older dance that no one does anymore. I also always loved it, and was sad when a lot of cool stuff like that was lost. Thank you so much for doing these songs.
This song was written by John Steward who had a hit or two for himself (check out "Gold"). The producers of the Monkees' version changed a line in his original lyrics - - which he objected to a lot at the time. They changed "now you know how funky I can be" to "now you know how happy I can be." He thought their revised lyric didn't make sense, and ruined the message in the song. But now he says he's okay with the change every time he gets a check in the mail. He said his lifestyle since then has been due in great part to the Monkees' success with his song. True story.
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, I like a lot of music and don't feel shame about any of it. Mouth and McNeill How do you do, love it. Starland vocal band Afternoon delight, love it. Some friends used to give me a hard time about my music, I told them where to put their opinions
Monkees actually put out some great pop music including a doing several Neil Diamond songs. The Partridge Family did the same thing and also put out some really gòod happy tunes ❤ TV created both of them but they became real bands producing good music. This is what I call happy, joyful music.
Pure pop! The Monkees were put together for the TV program, in which they played a band that aspired to be “Beatles-like.” Turns out they made some pretty good songs. I admit that “Daydream Believer” is one of my guilty pleasures. Or maybe not so guilty. It vividly brings back good times in 1968!
It's no surprise that they turned out a lot of great music, seeing who the song writers were. Literally a "Who's Who" of up and coming writers at the time.
I loved the Monkees TV series as a child in the 70s. Part of my childhood. This track is a classic. My favourite though will always be Mickey Dolenz singing Goin Down. He was my favourite of both vocalists, and only because I always thought he had much more rythmn and soul in it.. Davy was the front line for ages because he was able to sing the more mainstream pop songs and was a looker to the girls. Goin Down will always be my favourite favourite though 👌😎
I just subscribed because your reaction to Daydream believer is wonderful! You need to check out the same song performed by Shonen Knife, it is excellent too!
I was an Monkees tv series addict. Had the biggest crush on Davey Jones and Peter Tork.
R.I. P. Davey R.I.P. Peter & R.I.P Michael. The Monkees were the Beatles of comedy. This was a situation comedy goes back to the 60’s.
Mickey Dolenz is the only one left. RIP to Davey Jones, Peter Took and Michael Nesmith.
If I could go back to anytime in my life, it would be back to the middle 60s. I was pretty little (born in Jan 1959), but my family life was perfect. And I would make sure I watched the Monkees show every week.
Your mom was very wise!
I loved the Monkees, and this song was a favorite when I was 16-18! Still is a fav!!❤
You can never go wrong with the Monkeys to lift your spirits!!!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!!!😎🍸
How can you not like that song?
Wow.................grade school memories. We LOVED watching their TV show. Another made for tv band....had many great songs !! Sadly, only Mickey Dolenz is still with us. RIP Davy Jones, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith
Memories like that of your mom singing to you, this song, or any song, are priceless. Thankyou for sharing. 🙂
Hi Angela. A couple of other good songs by the Monkees are Steppin Stone and Valeri.
Normally don’t like when the reactor sings along, but darlin I absolutely adore what you did. Brought a smile to my old face. Thank you dear.
The other song that you may have been thinking about is “Mockingbird”. By Carol King I think.

Hello Angela: This is another group of talented musicians/vocalists who were pretty much denied serious recognition due to how they were marketed. It's always good to hear them again. Lots of memories...Thank you! ❤❤👍👍
This song takes me to my happy place, every time. It is perfection 😄
The Monkees were the first group that I really listened to when I was a kid, and I used to watch their comedy show. Fond memories.
Angela, you are so adorable! And I love your taste in music. Daydream Believer is one of the most upbeat infectious pop songs ever written. The Monkees were gifted and charismatic performers. Fun fact, or maybe not so fun, Charles Manson screen tested for a roll as one of the Monkees.
A very cute reaction. 🥰
Really like your singing and dancing 😊👌
Gave me a smile and made my day 🤗

I love your smile and Davy Jone's dance moves. You bring so much joy to your viewers!

Hello from Texas..Angela.Love ur dancing! Reminds me of the dancing girl on the Charlie Brown shows! Lol.🇨🇱😊❤
I try not to comment on reactors' looks, because it's all about the music. But I can't help but mention how good your hair looks in this video.
Yes love it
All of us old people wish we had her beautiful teeth too lol
@@thomastimlin1724 Agree, black people's teeth are really good.
@@thomastimlin1724 We all love Angela .

I honestly enjoyed your reaction to this song. Truly enjoyed the fun you were having!
So great to see the joy in your face as you reminisce about your mother and you as a child
The monkeys was a TV show

Lovely reaction, darling. Thank you
Thank you, Neil Diamond.
RIP MIchael Nesmith My favorite Monkee song.
So cool your mom used to sing this to you!
A piece of nostalgia.....if you watch Axl Rose in one of his videos he got his sway dance from watching Davey Jones in this video.
Their last number one RIP Davey Peter and Mike ❤
I love that you know this song!
Love the hair!
Love the smile!
Love your laugh!
And love the reaction!

Nice lullaby! Lucky you.
Hey she knows this song but I'm glad for her
This song has always brought a smile to my face.
You're as pretty on the inside as you are on the outside.
Subscribed my friend. 👍🏽🇺🇸

LOVE the change in looks. U look fine AF either way. Keep up the great reactions
Angela...you're hair! Gorgeousness!!!!
Absolutely love this reaction God Bless you and your mom ❤🎵🎸🎼
Also, Davy Jones was doing the serpentine moves long before Axl Rose!! He gets teased he stole it from Davy :-)
At the end he’s doing a treadmill walking in place thing because the set ends
I wonder if axl rose is davey Jones love child .
Oh my goodness! That was so sweet what you were doing! I love you ! ❤️
I have to admit I'm a fan of the song "Saturday night" by the bay city rollers 😏
Great song and love the new look :)
Someone as beautiful as you are you deserve the Sukiyaki song from Japan
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, I like a lot of music and don't feel shame about any of it.
Mouth and McNeill How do you do, love it.
Starland vocal band Afternoon delight, love it.
Some friends used to give me a hard time about my music, I told them where to put their opinions
This song takes me back to Jr High school. Still love it.

God Bless your Mom for singing to you!!!! My mom did the same !
A wonderful guilty pleasure. Just heard Mike Nesmith died. RIP Mike, you brought a lot of joy into my and many others lives.
You are my favorite reactor. Such a sweet person.
Fun fact : Michael Nesmith's mother invented " white out " while Michael was still in high school in Dallas .
He always seemed spoiled.
Yep. She left him a fortune.
I sang "Golden Slumbers" to my daughters.
Pure pop! The Monkees were put together for the TV program, in which they played a band that aspired to be “Beatles-like.” Turns out they made some pretty good songs. I admit that “Daydream Believer” is one of my guilty pleasures. Or maybe not so guilty. It vividly brings back good times in 1968!

there is something terribly, terribly sad, fragile and doomed about this combination of video and song. :(
Love the way dance Angela
I loved the Monkees TV series as a child in the 70s. Part of my childhood. This track is a classic.
My favourite though will always be Mickey Dolenz singing Goin Down. He was my favourite of both vocalists, and only because I always thought he had much more rythmn and soul in it.. Goin Down will always be my favourite favourite though 👌😎
My guilty pleasure too. So glad you played this!🤗
There are a couple of really good videos on RUclips giving their biography.
In their prime, their popularity rivaled The Beatles.
Just a suggestion 1976 hit.. Boz Scaggs "Lowdown" Live ..
Great sing-along song in British pubs when it comes on
back when music was pure ......:)
Your mom had good taste in music. And she may have also been a fan of their t v show.
I don't care too much for the monkeys ,I'm just here for you beautiful!
Great song! Thanks for doing the reaction! The back story of The Monkees is interesting
Feeling so groovy.✌️😎
Awesome job..Your vibe is so infectious..
I just subscribed because your reaction to Daydream believer is wonderful! You need to check out the same song performed by Shonen Knife, it is excellent too!
I always loved the cheerful and whimsical music that the monkeys did. BTW love the channel.
They all so sang (I’m a believer) from the movie Shrek 😎🤟
Great song! And it is a great lullaby now that you mention it. Kudos to your mom!
Love your unbridled happy reaction. I know how much it means to share that memory.
Watched the monkeys every Saturday as a kid, never considered them as a real band. What can I say a good and a happy Angela doing her dancing thing!!!
Loved their comedy and music between the show.
Love, love, love this song.
