I think "vibe" in this context refers to Univibe though, not vibrato in the Boss VB-2 sense. These are not the "chorus" and "vibrato" effects that we're normally referring to as in a CE-2 or VB-2 bucket brigade device, but rather different configurations of the univibe effect which uses a lightbulb and is a totally different effect.
I started reading this comment before I watched the video and I was wondering what you were on about. As the video progressed, your reasoning became quite evident! 😂
It's weird ....it's obviously a Univibe emulation which traditionally have chorus ( the univibe) and vibrato but don't have much relationship to Chorus pedals like CE 2. They seem a bit confused.

strymon is smart to realize there are many guitarists who prefer a pedal that can just accomplish a smaller set of things well instead of their more complex units.
UAFX seems to be going this route as well.
I dont like there huge pedal too complex and i dont like there smaller ones where you need to buy a dongle for stereo. The sweet spot is the line up they have with the V2 pedals thats a nice blend
The thing is, it is complex but in a simple platform. With midi control you can have 300 presets. So on a simple pedalboard as one pedal, it’s actually a monster if you are in the midi game
Smart to realise not everyone is an accountant, collecting Custom Shop guitars and YouTubing about it.

any sort of univibe takes me straight back to my first time hearing Hendrix play little wing on a live album. I will always love that sound. nice sounding pedal.

The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old Strymon Ultraviolet.

Guys, it’s not a chorus or vibrato. The original Shin-Ei Univibe is a completely different genre of effect. The OG Univibe had a “chorus” and “vibrato” setting, but it’s not the same type of circuit or sound.

answering pete's question about stereo patch cables: yes there are many. i use the ernie ball bk flat ribbon trs patch 6". Rockboard makes some good ones as well

I thought it was going to be more of a hendrix vibe. I wouldn't call that guitar lime green. its more like 1970's kitchen appliance avacado... Pete plays so beautiful, none the less. I love the strymons and would love to try them out some day.

Every time Pete goes from a Strat to a Tele, I'm amazed at how much better it sounds. Beginning to think there's a reason my poor Strat sits in the case while the Tele is out on a stand, unfortunately.

Rockboard by Warwick make flat TRS cables that will do the trick that Pete is looking for. They also make a breakout TRS as well ;)
Quite separately, is there ANY expression pedal that will let you do three things with it? I've seen a two-fer, but there should be a three-fer.

I'm looking to take a dive into my 1st univibe and have narrowed my choice down to the Formula B and JAM Retrovibe.....btw, I like tose 2 better than the Sabbadius offers and Pedal Pawn's Gypsy Vibe. From this video, would you agree the Formula B provides a "richer, more gooey, univibe-chew" than this Strymon? I think the JAM Retrovibe may be best at that but the higher price AND no volume control has kept my decision "on hold". I also really like the bias switch on the Strymon. Please share your thoughts.....Thanks in advance!!

I did and bought the Strymon ULTRAVIOLET Vintage Vibe. I really liked the JAM Pedals option but it bothered me that it did not have a volume control. With Strymon's reputation and their knowing the quality of options in the market, I bet they would produce an excellent univibe pedal that would be competitive in quality. So I grabbed the Strymon and can honestly say it is excellent and at worst, I give it a score of 9 out of 10. The vibe is deep and chewy with additional versatility that checks all of the boxes on why we love univibes. Hope that helps!! @@gavincurleycork

3:14 Yes, you can order the short split cables directly from Strymon...or learn to make them yourself. Lots of tutorials on RUclips can show you how. I was lazy and ordered them from Strymon. 😅
That sounds Rootsy Wobbling good, oh my, that was funny, sounds great though ,gentlemen, strymon makes some very nice stuff, I got a cloudburst at a killer price , haven’t got it yet, but anxiously waiting. I always loved a good chorus. That one sounds great.
A tad unrelated but what is that Red Led numbers display in the right hand corner?
Think Hendrix “machine gun” or the star spangled banner. It’s a Uni-Vibe effect, not a chorus or vibrato. The original univibe just labeled the two settings as chorus and vibrato for familiarity.
How about adding an expression pedal to your demos when applicable??? It would be nice to hear!

it's a phaser though, no such thing as univibe. univibe = phaser it uses the exact same technology.
EBS makes a stereo input Y cable (EBS ICY-30 Y) that works with Iridium and all other Strymon pedals!

Don't know if the blend setting beats the D-C-V knob on the Walrus Audio Julia/Julianna, but the bias seams great for tone shaping!
That's a great knob. Walrus makes many great knobs, but the D-C-V is really worth the price of admission.
I bet they have a super deluxe Julie on the way in the same form as the Slöer.

For the vibrato segment, try running it into the EFX loop of one amp only. The result wet/dry is you get a massive chorus image in the room. One amp has only dry signal and the vibrato by definition is 100% wet.
That’s essentially what univibe does… blends a vibrato signal with the dry, no?
@@phunkyjunkee Yeah, the Univibe switched to Vibrato mode will work the same way on a wet/dry rig. Run your vibe in vibrato mode into the wet side and the result will be a far more spacey Univibe sound.
EBS makes a flat TRS patch cable. I got one for my mission volume pedal to split my signal to the tuner.

Strymon in general is just too expensive in my opinion.

@@youscreamiscream overpriced - definitely, overrated - definitely not. Their pedals do sound great. I’ve seen numerous shootout videos where all sorts of pedal were tested against each other and Strymon is always in the top three, mostly at the top, though, when it comes to the way they sound. At least in my book.
If you can compensate for the volume boost the Danelectro Cool Cat Vibe is hard to beat.
Wondering how do you guys pan only the reverb to the right speaker? Is that added in post or is that the bluesky?
We’re using 2 amps & I expect those are panned. There should be reverb on both (but different reverbs)

I feel like the univibe is the hardest pedal to capture in a RUclips video. You really need to try them in person. A have a few Strymon pedals..they are very cool. I have the deja vibe 3..I can’t imagine ever going to a digital univibe, no matter how good it sounds.
I just bought a gen 1 Deja Vibe -- the blue one with the foot pedal. It cost way more than this and I think my pedal kinda stinks compared to this thing. I'd rather have this purple thing. Even if the expression is extra, its still less than I paid.

It’s running in stereo with one side in a Victory V140 & the other a Friedman Little Sister
I have the Strymon Brig and Cloudburst but this is not for me. I am waiting for a dedicated Chorus or Flanger.
I am going to have to move to the UK to afford all these made in USA guitars, amps and pedals.
EBS and Rockboard make TRS patch cables and also TS TRS split patch cables. @pete
