The butcher spends a year or more drying out the country ham to concentrate the flavors, and first thing you do at home is soak it in a bucket of tap water!? That's how we handle a $1.29/lb grocery store special, not a $75 country ham. Country ham you set on the counter as is, and take thin slices from it like prosciutto. Different areas, different processes. I get it. :-)
It looked good up to the clove part.. that turned my stomach. Can you give us a good alternative because I really don't like the taste of cloves maybe garlic would be better?
I used cloves and a brown sugar paste with pineapple juice and place pineapples on it. Cooks perfect. Still salty and you dont taste the cloves. I also soak my ham for 3 days and change the water every morning and every night
Wow look at all the salt left behind...I’m not a fan of ham that is salt cured...I live a sweet ham...yum! My wife lives country ham and so did my beautiful mother...miss u momma! She loved a country ham biscuit...
I don't know what I just watched but that was wild. I would NEVER soak a country ham and eat it all at once. I would either cut it thin and eat it raw or I would slice from it and pan fry it as needed. This made that ham look dry and unappetizing.
Whats crazy is that now im soaking a ham that i cured. I soaked it for 2 days and its still hard so im boiling it for 3 hours and searched how to prepare a country ham and saw my old comment
that won't be a good strong country ham that would be a good salty country ham I am from Virginia also and nobody that I know of like a salty ham Edwards make one of the best hands in the state of Virginia because of less sodium
Listen more carefully. That isn't really 'Linus and Lucy'. They changed it enough to drag it into the public domain. There are a lot of 'sound alike' tunes out there.
When she soaked and roasted the ham, instead of just slicing and frying, it was ruined….it’s no longer country ham. If you want a baked ham, buy a city ham.. very depressing.
wow ive seen mom cook a million of these and never did she soak it just over night she soaked it for about 3 days changing the water twice a day then in a roaster at 400 for about 4 hours or so....this chick don't know how to cook i wouldn't let her feed my dog
i see by the video that all my fears about how much of a pain this is to cook are true. The ham that was donated to me shall, in turn, be donated to someone else. In a few years, i'm sure it will make its way back to me. Meh.
haha I like how the driving-home-with-your-ham step is included, very good fool-proof instructional video...!!!
Thank goodness the video exists, I almost made it in store
5 and a half to 6 and a half hours cooking time for a ham this size, but totally worth it I guessing. :-D Great video!

More like rich suburban mom thinks she's Paula Deen
Music by: 'Public Domain Version of Linus and Lucy'
great instructions great ham

Try ginger (even ginger ale) cinnamon, nutmeg, any spice will be fine, just don't cut up the meat like that

I want this tune, I know it's Linus and Lucy but this version
I laughed my ass off when I recognized it. Loved it.
It's the public domain version.
If you soak it less than four days, you better slice it up and boil it.
Good ole 90s music
Is this the Charlie brown theme song? Lol
yes
It is a public domain mod.
Wow look at all the salt left behind...I’m not a fan of ham that is salt cured...I live a sweet ham...yum! My wife lives country ham and so did my beautiful mother...miss u momma! She loved a country ham biscuit...
this should have the title murdering a ham
Give this lady a break.. country ham is to salty unless you soak it in water you go girl
You have no idea what you're doing.
Tune is dope tho
I just eat mine in slices

Here in KY we like very strong salt taste
At least 2 full days soaking and about 6 water changes. She's trying to cover up salt with sugar.
Wrong
I live in VA and grew up on good ol' salty country ham. That's what country ham is. Take out the salt it's just...ham.
@@TweetyPAK7 don't take all the salt Edwards ham is the perfect amount of salt when you buy it from the deli
Wow, what a way to ruin a country ham. If you want a sweet ham buy a sugar cured ham. I aka a Virginia ham.
Picky much?
Country hams aren’t made for baking. They’re made to slice thin and pan fry.
That little tune in the background is copyrighted… And not by youuuuuu

slaveteri so letting it sit in water over night then letting it sit in a oven is way to difficult?
