I'm so proud my Mom wasn't one who looked the other way. She called the police every time she needed to for my friends. She feed them, made them clothes, kept them at our house as much as possible. Took them to church,made sure they had breakfast and were properly dressed for school. They are still my best friends 53 years lster.

Wow this one was tough. This is a perfect example of how music makes you feel something, touches your soul. If you don’t feel something after watching this video, you don’t have a heart. Wow.
I like country so much for the issues that it deals with. Not always as serious as this, but it tends not to be a superficial genre, with exceptions. At least the country music I like. It's hard to take children going trough things they shouldn't have to, but our pain on this earth is passing and these innocent souls will find lasting peace. @@snakeinthegrass7443 Those who died unbaptised cannot/could not be buried in "holy ground" and were placed on land just beside the cemetery. You will find many angels and lambs on the stones there.
So sad but a reminder that we have to do better and protect the innocent!!

She is truly one of the power voices of a generation! You should be able to find the video fairly easily, it is here on YT.
I thank God for my Grandma, aunt and uncle every day for threatening to take me away from Mom if she didn't leave my biological father before I had any more problems than I ended up with because of his mental and physical abuse. She finally left him for good and divorced him when I was 10.

Martina has a gorgeous voice but, we we all get caught up in the song and story. The little boy is there as the girls Guardian angel to help her cross over. Yes, all those children are there together as abuse victims. This song is got wrenching.

This song still gets me every time. Martina sang about some pretty devestating topics but this happens. Love Martina. Dolly and Martina are my 2 fave American country singers and Shania and k.d. I just got done reading those comments and I was floored. So this is just another internet story that took on a life of it's own? One person said her sister beat her niece to death. This is just terrible. One of many reasons why I hate living in this time that we are!

I'm not emotionally tough enough yet to listen to country all the time - and this is why. Very beautiful song. Her voice is beautiful and I've always thought she was one of the most beautiful women in the world. But I have chronic PTSD and songs like this mess me up. I hate suffering and I especially hate child abuse and/or neglect. I saw it almost every night working the midnight shift in the poorest part of the city. I was shot point-blank in the face while trying to arrest a man on domestic violence charges. Yeah, my world has been upside down since then. It's been 25 years and it's been extremely rough to just navigate this life. I've gotten much better through countless hours of therapy, prayer, group meetings, and unfortunately, the scripts they love to push out.
I'm so thankful that I gave my life to Jesus Christ several years ago bc my perception of things have changed drastically. If it's something I can't rectify in my brain - like what happened in this song - I ask Him to take it from me, otherwise I would be an absolute mess just from watching this video, for example. I am no longer the pilot on my flight through life. I'm just the co-pilot that has to turn the controls over to Thee Pilot when skies get rough. Prayers for anyone who is currently in an abusive situation or have been victims of it in the past. The perpetrators will be Judged one day. I personally find comfort in that for many of my own situations. ✌❤

I saw this listing go up this morning but the look on your face the few words asking you could do this one. Finally, abut 1115 pm cutiosty got the best of me. Tough story and song. I don’t know much about Martina but would probably research if before hitting play. I know that isn’t what you do on the channel. Doing it your way is much more interesting and (often) emotional.

Give a listen to one by Mac Davis called “Whoever Finds This, I Love You”, not quite the same ending as this one but still poignant. Mac Davis was a great story teller and singer. He had a bunch of good songs.
I'm a 67 year old man and I cried the first time I saw this video. I've gotten misty-eyed every time since. Martina is a stunningly beautiful woman with an equally stunning voice.
Similar theme with a different style is Pat Bennatar's "Hell is for Children". That one bothered me even before I became a dad. Incredibly sad we need songs about this.

I was one of the people who recommended this song and while it's a hard one, I don't regret it. It's such an important message that we just need to be better. That said, I'm going to recommend Braid Paisley - Start a Band or Waitin' on a Woman.

Martina brought awareness for kids wuth this heartbreaking song .... people did not pay attention so much prior so sadly ... thus also saved kids too. I agree help ... anger on either side ends badly, share Love and sometimes its painful
I drive a school bus, and this song always hits hard. We see a lot of things that other school staff don't. We see the houses they come from and we see how they interact with parents if the parents are even there. That being said, all school staff are now considered mandatory reporters, and if we suspect or see anything, no matter where it happens, we have to report it to DHHR, local and state police within 24 hours. If we don't report and it can be proven that we knew something was going on, we could be prosecuted.
Martina is one of the best female vocalists of any genre and she uses her voice to confront social issues. Jennifer Nettles of the band Sugarland is also a phenomenal vocalist check out (for a fun video) "Down in Mississippi (and up to no good)" Live! Also "Stay" "Baby Girl" and "It happens" It is necessary for you to react to these kinds of songs that are like "Concrete Angel" You are on a platform to bring awareness. Every view helps.

Martina has several songs that will rip your heart out. She is 5 ft nuthin and weighs a buck-ten but she can belt out a song like nobody else.
Now most of the time something is done to the abuser whether physical, emotional or sexual but 60 years ago it was totally different and things were swept under the rug and not even reported to authorities. So sad our children have to tolerate the atrocities they do.
Her friend and the other children are angels who probably also died from abuse.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I will never understand how somebody could intentionally hurt a kid in any way.

'Love you through it' is about Cancer, 'Independence Day' is about spousal abuse. For a fun love song, 'My baby loves me' and a positive uplifting one is 'Anyway', one of my favs.
In the state of California teachers and health workers are required by law to report ANY signs of abuse on children or anyone. All states should adopt that if they haven't already!!🎶🎼🎵 Great reaction!!😥😥😥

Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of Judith Barsi case. Judith was a child actress who did the voices of the movie, "All dogs go to heaven." and the land before time. Her dad was very ab*sive towards his daughter and wife. The father ended up k*lling them both. Judith was a talented little girl. RIP 🙏

I have seen her interviewed about the song. She didn’t write it and only sang it to bring attention to the issue. The only place that states it was her niece is one shady website.

Unfortunately, too many people repeat this urban myth on reactions to this song. Martina didn’t have a niece die from abuse at the hands of her sister.
I've heard this song was inspired by a similar story that happened to a relative of hers. This is a heartbreakingly beautiful song. Thanks for your attempts to help us other Christians to make the world a little better. Jesus changed the world by starting with 12. So a few of us can make a difference. I am amazed at the ability of music to deal with topics that are easier avoided, but need attention.
For a happy song, I'm going to suggest "Thank God and Greyhound" by Roy Clark, or "The Bricklayers Song" by Ray Stevens.
