This is a true story based on her niece who was abused by her mother (McBride's sister Gina and killed at the young age of 7. the lil boy was her angel and took her to heaven.
This is not true. As much as this IS a true story for ALOT of children, it is not true in Martina's case. This song was actually written by Stephanie Bentley and Rob Crosby.
That rumor persists...just like the Brooks and Dunn song "Believe" is based on Ronnie Dunn's childhood (not true) and Sugarland's "Stay" is the story of Jennifer Nettles' divorce (also not true). All beautiful and powerful performances that elicit strong emotions and that's all that matters.
I watched the video once. Listened to the song once. Now, just the title chokes my throat, waters my eyes and I have to sing the Flintstones to keep from bawling.
Great job on your reaction to this emotional song. Yes the young boy was an angel on earth who took her to the other side with other abused children. I have to say you react to a wide variety of songs and it provides a selection to choose from.👍
Such an emotional very sad song from Martina McBride. It is so very hard to believe that there are so very many children are abused by parents especially!!
This song always gets me. It honestly reminds me of another song my parents used to listen to. Collin Raye's "11th Commandment" is another song meant to spread awareness to child ab*se and to me is just as powerful a song, even if it's not as widely known. I'd recommend you check it out, he has a lot of songs talking on very heartfelt subjects. Here a few I can remember off the top of my head. *Harder cards- a song about a cop making a choice about arresting a woman who killed her abusive husband *What if Jesus comes back like that- Basically talking about different people down on their luck and saying "Well, what if it was jesus in this situation" *Love me- Man singing of a letter his grandma wrote his grandpa, back when they planned to run away together. *What I need- a song about how god doesn't give you what you want, but what you need. *She's with me- A song about a father looking after his disabled daughter. *She's gonna fly- A song talking about a grandmother that has started losing her memories. And these are just what I can remember, he's an amazing country artist and doesn't get as much attention as he should.
@@VETERANREACTS wait. You've already done it. You say so I'm this video. I didn't pay enough attention. What about The Little girl? ruclips.net/video/K1j669NVNzM/видео.htmlsi=k9G19t5ZaNYqrKF1
Its a hard thing to imagine happening to a child but its real. My parents fostered children that came from bad situations like this because they felt it was their calling.
No, people saw the signs before it was to late. "The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask" "The neighbors hear but they turn out their lights" "A broken heart that the world forgot" That's the tragedy and message of the song. There were plenty of opportunities for someone to reach out and save the little girl, but for whatever reason, chose inaction. The teacher didn't reach out ask about the signs that she was seeing. The neighbors don't do anything when they hear the abuse that was taking place. That's what that last line means. Nobody did anything despite having ample time to do so. The song is telling us to not ignore the signs until it's to late.
Great reaction to a powerful song! New Sub! Lots of great suggestions in the comments and I'll add "How Do You Get That Lonely" by Blaine Larson, "The Call" by Matt Kennon, and lastly "Wrong Side of Heaven" by Five Finger Death Punch. All of them are deep and meaningful songs.
They didnt "not notice" until it was to late. The noticed the abuse and turned a blind eye to it. "The teacher wonders but she doesnt ask" "Somebody cries in the middle Of the night. The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights"
This song is based on a the true store of Martina's niece who was being abused by her mother, Martina's sister, &, who died at the age of 7.😭 My apologies! I've been informed that this is false. Google should remove it.
not sure about this though. She only has one sister and I looked her up. She is not in prison and she is a nurse. Her sister's name is Gina Schiff - I really think this is a true story or based on a true story. So confusing how it could be her sister that did this. She would be in prison right now for murder but instead is not and is a nurse. Look up her name so you can see for yourself.
@TNgirl546 , I had heard this story b4, &, I googled it. That's where I got the info. Of course, Google can always be wrong. So, I don't know b/c I don't have it first hand.

this is not true, its just an internet rumor.
Although there are nay sayers, it appears it was a true story. At least google searches run about 2 out of three.

This usually don't get me crying but she has done two songs who's videos always make me cry: "Independence day" and "God's Will".
Most people miss when the paramedics are there the boy face glows showing he is an angel.
The final gut punch that all the kids in the final shot are angels always does me in
I watched the video once. Listened to the song once. Now, just the title chokes my throat, waters my eyes and I have to sing the Flintstones to keep from bawling.
Yes he was her Angel to bring her home to heaven with the other children who died due to child abuse No more pain ...they are now loved.💗🙏💔
The little boy was her Angel who came and got her to take her to live in Heaven with all those other children who had died from abuse as well.
She has an AMAZING voice and hits some tough subjects. Independence day is another emotional one but probably her most popular
This song bring tears to my eyes

Well holy c^%$ that's always tough one. Martina used her music platform to bring to light issues that needed to be seen.
Definitely a tough one 😢
I will never understand how somebody can intentionally hurt a child.
The world may forget children who are beaten to death but angels don't
In those days teachers were told to mind their own business
New subscriber!! I love that you actually listen and have true emotional reactions! Do New subscribers get to pick a song?! Regards from Kentucky!!

God is the place where she is loved, and an angel was sent to bring her to her heavenly home and Heavenly Father, where her earthly parents failed.
I think you missed the bruises on her arm in the school and that's why she said the teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
