Martina McBride wrote concrete angel for her niece and her sister Angela who was a victim of domestic abuse but thank you so much Martina McBride for sharing this song
@@jennifursun3303 The song came about when it was written by Stephanie Bentley and Rob Crosby and eventually bought by Martina or her record label and she recorded it.
this song ALWAYS makes me cry especially when it gets to the part of the boy being an angel the whole time. this song and whiskey lullaby are the saddest songs...
I was just listening to this a while ago like literally and now here I am again the song is so sad listening to it makes me remember Sylvia likens that young 16 year old who was murdered by a woman that her parents left her with
My first exposure to Martina's voice was that one long belt in Broken Wing not long after it was released. I instantly became a fan. I've seen her a dozen times in concert, even met her once. And that voice never fails to make me forget everything else in the world.
I was abused growing up, I made it through only by God's grace. I came very close to the ambulance and grave. Every time I listen to this song it takes me back to a very dark time in my life. I am thankful that it is over. I try my best to love my son completely different than my childhood.
Who else was was waiting patiently for Sebs to realize the little boy was her guardian angel? And I agree with him 100% about not being able to love anyone who hurts children.
the boy was not a guardian angel he did not do any guarding. he was an angel of death, easing the transition and escorting the soul to what comes next.
The first time I heard this song I broke down. It was because I was that little girl. At 5 I had to be shocked back to life after a beating. I grew up in foster care and I swore to myself that my kids would never go through what I did and I broke the cycle of abuse for my family. No child should ever go through anything like that.
This song breaks me everytime. When I was younger I was abused. Not anything close to this but still abused. It was in a foster home. But I love this song but I cry everytime I hear it.
My neice and nephew were shot by thier father in 2000. When this song came out I resinate with it so much to my core. The little girl in the video even resembles our sweet Angel Josephine. I swore Martina knew our story and wrote this for us!!!!
One thing I didn’t see was a comment about this song. This song was about her niece Angela Carter if you look at the gravestone Angela Carter’s name is on there with an angel. The song is just beautiful and should be shared with everyone. Martina McBride is one of the best singers out there.
You should watch Martina McBride sing Broken Wing. When she sang it at the ACM awards, the audience gave her a standing ovation before she was done singing. This song will give you chills. It is a must listen to.
I coached 5th and 6th grade boys basketball for many years and I seen so many who suffered from life at home. I tried to show them how much they meant to me. You’d be surprised what a little love will get you. Some of the boys have kids of their own now and stop by the house just to check on me since I became disabled. They see us out and there’s always a hug for the wife and I. That’s all kids need, a little love and respect.
As a child abuse survivor, who almost didn’t make it out alive, I shed tears watching someone shed tears on our behalf. It means more than I can ever begin to tell you. Thank you for reacting to this video, it brings more awareness and makes this sickness no longer taboo. God bless you.
My parents were mentally and physically abuse by their parents. They choice to break that cycle to became the best parents my siblings and I could have ever wanted. Raised with so much love. They are both gone now. I miss them deeply.
This was me as a child, for 13 years every day not sure if that would be the day God finally said to me "Welcome home", but 4 times I always got "it's not your time, you have a long life ahead, be patient I'm here with you, my angles are watching.", and I was sent back to hell. idk why but I'm still here. Excepting your death, 4 times as a kid really messes you up. and with a mother that does nothing but allows it and hide it, tell you to lie, and a church that turns their head and tells you your the problem obey your parents, its a miracle I still believe in God, but that's because he has shown himself to me. I know I can't be broken, by anyone, tortured or beaten I'll get through again, my soul can't be broken. I figured each time if, I died my brother and mother would be free at least, but he still walks free, and my mom still talks to him. That's not forgiveness that's stockhome syndrome. Churches are corrupt so I don't go to church anymore and I don't take my kids. but we still teach God's word, I don't need a church of hypocrites and backstabbing gossipers do be close to my God.
most people don't realize the song is about that little boy... being her concrete angel from the start, as he saw it coming an was there for her before to ease her! but yes poor girl!
“It’s not suppose to hurt to be a child”. Profound words for sure. Great reaction! The easiest thing in your life should be to love your children. You’re not always going to like them, but love doesn’t just stop for your child.
As everyone else has recommended “the Little Girl” by John Michael Montgomery. It is actually a touching uplifting song with a Christian undertone. I am 49 years old and recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Your videos have been heartfelt in their emotions and i have loved watching your evolution from not liking country to liking country in the last few days. (I just found you). Thank you and your wife for being a little light and joy to my life in a dark time and God bless your daughters. It looks like they have an amazing father who will protect them from the storm when they need that.
I just listen to the Lyrics of this song. This is heart-breaking, So so sad. How can a mother not love her child. No matter how hard life gets, a mother should always show her child love.
She sold merchandise for Garth Brooks on his tours. He promised to make her an opening act if she got a record deal. She signed with RCA in 1991 and Garth kept his promise.
"concrete angel" is also a reference to the sculptures of angels that are commonly placed on children's graves/headstones You and your wife should watch "In My Daughter's Eyes" together
I've loved Martina's music for many years. Such a powerful voice! And kudos to her for bringing this all too often hushed topic to the forefront. This happens! We as a society need to do better ... there's enough Concrete Angels 😢
I knew you'd get to this video eventually BUT what I didn't know is the chills that went down my neck, back, and arms would happen to me when you realized he was an angel 😇 that's never happened before? THANK YOU SEBS FOR THAT !!!!!❣️
Hi Sebs, I just HAD to write you and tell you that. Martina McBrides song CONCRETE ANGEL 👼 was/is my life. I am now 60 and lived with an Alcoholic father. I will spare you what HELL. yes it was. I’m sorry for the bad word. But I just want you to know that I eventually found God at a young age . And if not him I could not have survived the abuse. So when I hear this song. I always say “not yet “to the demons in my family’s addictions that result in violence. They will have to wait for awhile before I will let them get to me and become a CONCRETE ANGEL 👼. with our God Jehovah all things are possible. And on side note, PLEASE KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING. As your honesty and spirituality that shine through keep many of us going. A fairly new member to your community. Thanks for all you do. Sincerely Linda E.
Martina is probably the most powerful voice in country music. She is the only one that can out Pat Benatar Pat Benatar herself, and she did on an episode of CMT Crossroads. Thing is, she's a tiny lady, but she can belt it out like someone twice her size!
This is such a great song. This video is so hard to watch. I paused twice before the music started just to try and brace myself for what I knew was coming. Still had to pause again halfway through to pull myself together. I actually hate watching because it tears me up so badly, but always watch anyway to support the song and artist…and on this occasion to support the reactor as well. Thank you. I have the utmost respect and love for artists brave enough to speak out on important issues. It’s so admirable that she uses her platform in this manner. She does the same for abused women in “Broken Wing”. Such a beautiful powerful voice. Her talent is undeniable. And the message will never stop being so very important. We must protect those among us who cannot protect themselves. Much love young one! ❤️🙏😇
I'm a child abuse survivor. This song is heartbreaking, yet it means a lot to know someone sees us. I struggle with PTSD, and some days are rough. Watching your reactions to so many songs makes me smile.
I swear I've seen this video 1000 times and the tears are running down my face. Oh I love all genres of music countries one of my favorite, but she's one of my favorite artist. She's so good life. Oh I can't stop crying. Thank you for your reaction.🫶🏼
She wrote this song about her niece, who was fatally abused by her mother. Another one to listen to is by John Michael Montgomery called The Little Girl.❤❤
Martina is amazing. She uses her talent and platform to bring attention to a lot of difficult topics. A few other country singers do the same. The teacher seeing those bruises and doing nothing always fills me with rage and then, at the end, the teacher is there at her funeral.
"Whatever You Say" is another by Martina that showcases her range. She holds a note for 13 SECONDS! "Independence Day " (Official video) is also a must. She's definitely a powerhouse. Such a powerful voice from that little lady.
I was like 11 when this song came out and I'd only just really gotten into watching mtv and vh1 and cmt and fuse. This song was big on cmt at that time and it moved me even as an 11 year old. I literally bawled when the little boy turned out to be her guardian angel. And I'm 30 now and I still cry every time I watch this video. I can listen to the song just fine but turn the video on and it literally breaks my heart all over again
Yes she has the best voice. My Older sister of eleven months loved This song. It was her favorite song by Martina. Just saw her in concert with Wynonna Judd. was fabulous let Martina put on a show of her own. I got an Independence day shirt. Talk about controversial It will make you cry.
I like your early optimism about that boy being more than an angel sent to bring her to heaven. Oh, Martina Mcbride - everyone is distracted by her voice.
I have absolutely loved country music for my entire life, and I have always been bullied for it, but you give me hope! This song, and another you reviewed "Alyssa Lies" by Jason Michael Carrol, always give me the chills and makes me cry. I used to listen to them in middle school specifically to cry.
Been there, survived, but never forgotten, still hurt still hear. Sounds that make me jump at night. I’m 66 and it does it go away. I pray for you and your little ones hug them love them listen to them.
yes, the point at the end is, she was an angel while living, and joined the angels that left before her. such a great song.
But this is what’s so so beautiful about Country music. It doesn’t hold back the truth.
Martina tries to bring awareness to child abuse and trafficking. She wrote this one about her niece.
It's not about her family..that's a very very repeated falsehood but extensive research will find its not. No criticism meant

Martina did not write the song. She did dedicate it to her niece though.
wondered how the song came about
@@jennifursun3303 The song came about when it was written by Stephanie Bentley and Rob Crosby and eventually bought by Martina or her record label and she recorded it.
Breaks your heart when you realize ALL the children running and playing at the end are concrete angels....
SEB THE BOY WAS HER GUARDIAN ANGEL
The little boy, was an angel, who made friends with her, before that day.
this song ALWAYS makes me cry especially when it gets to the part of the boy being an angel the whole time. this song and whiskey lullaby are the saddest songs...
Martina McBrides “ Independence Day” is also amazing. About domestic violence but no one holds a note like her.
the 'Crossroads' where she sang that with Pat Benatar was just incredible.
Yes!

Listen to Martina sing "with a broken wing" about abused women but her vocals are insane.
My favorite song by her. I attempt it at karaoke 🤭

Yes, this song would make me cry for the abused woman in the song.
Yep, Broken Wing is Martina's most powerful song.

This song breaks me everytime. When I was younger I was abused. Not anything close to this but still abused. It was in a foster home. But I love this song but I cry everytime I hear it.
The acting ability of those 2 children is amazing. No words spoken, and that little boy's expressions told a story that words could not.
I wasn't a fan of country music, but have since found out that there are some really great gems in country.
