    Until she was recently passed by Beyoncé, she held the record for the most Grammy wins of any singer in history. 27 Grammys
    And Beyoncé has had the advantage of there now being more categories than when Alison was most active.

    Their voices together are haunting.

    • @hawk7469
      @hawk7469 Год назад +1

      Hey Vicki, Be quiet. You have know clue what you're talking about. This is not a video about the disease side of alcoholism. The video portrays a man coming home from war or it could be a man coming home early from work finding his wife cheating. Yes, did he turn to the bottle absolutely, but he was over it and this is how he chose to handle it because getting cheating on sucks for both both men and woman.

    • @vickimurphy5183
      @vickimurphy5183 Год назад +7

      @@hawk7469 of course the video is about cheating and the song too. My point was that Ricky did an excellent job in just a few frames showing the downward spiral of alcoholism. They go from beautiful to wrecked in just a few bars of the song.
      Of course they were drinking because of the cheating and the guilt but alcoholism is what killed them both. “Put the bottle to his/her head and pulled the trigger”.
      And yes I do know what I’m talking about. My step dad and mom split because of whiskey and after he was in ICU and almost died of liver failure. He put down the bottle thank God and is doing great today but we almost lost him. He’s such a different man sober.

    • @vickimurphy5183
      @vickimurphy5183 Год назад +9

      @@hawk7469 PS: the be quiet and don’t know what I’m talking about is uncalled for. Chill out it’s music and all music is open to interpretation. This is my interpretation and as it had 106 likes by the time you commented I’m going to say I’m not the only one who feels this way.
      It sounds like you were cheated on. If so I’m sorry for that but lashing out at people in the comments section over their opinion of someone else’s opinion of a song is a waste of energy. Just saying. Enjoy the song and video it’s a good one.

    His ribbons and badge indicates he was a combat veteran in Europe during WWII. One of the ribbons is a purple heart, he was wounded in battle. As a combat infantryman myself I can state clearly the transition from combat to civilian life if very difficult. The one thing that was holding him together was the dream of returning to his loving wife, the safety of civilian life, getting a good job and raising a family. Seeing his wife in bed with another man broke him and as it turned out beyond repair. I can tell you that someone that has seen combat never really gets over it, you just learn to deal with the memories. Unfortunately far to many don't and they take a destructive path to deal with the pain and memories.

      I was a bartender at the American Legion in my early 20s. I was talking with a group of regulars about how I didn't think I would be good in the military because I didn't think I could kill anyone. Every single one of them agreed that every human is capable of killing if it's the life of your people, or your own on the line. I remember this conversation distinctly because old veterans of mixed branches love arguing with each other, but they all very seriously agreed on this, and very few other topics.

      @@larynanntapp6333 I'd have to see this interview, as most people say "but I heard it here so it must be true" and then never provide the proof. But the video itself holds all the clues. Listen to the words in the music video "When you get back we'll START our family". Clearly they hadn't had a child yet, and when he gets back she's in bed with someone else, so they didn't have one after. The songs narrators are friends of the couple, and there are two children at the end of the video, which are clearly the children of the two people who buried her ("WE laid her next to him beneath the willow"). Also the little girl is older than any child would have been even if they had had one before/soon after he left for the war.

    Great reaction. Brad Paisley is a great singer songwriter. A duet with Dolly Parton is When I get where I Going.
    He has love songs such as She's Everything and Little Moments.
    He has silly fun songs such as I'm Gonna Miss her and Celebrity.

    Alison Krauss looking very lovely in this video - when you see her in live concerts, well, to me she comes across as an introverted person that kind of struggles to be comfortable in front of adoring fans - which makes us love her all the more. When the music and the singing begins, then she slips comfortably into her element.

    Unfortunately this is a story that happens... The distance and time is tough on a marriage. That and alcoholism are tough hurdles that our troops have to deal with. A true country song telling a story of real life.

    Thank you for picking my song!!! I love it because eventually, they were finally together. Yeah, they had to die to get there, but they made it back to each other. Musically, I really love the harmonic layers and clean voices. Zero autotune there, my friends. Pure talent!

    Hello Sebs! I am new to your channel, and I think you are one of the best "reactors" on RUclips! I'm a proud veteran and lover of all music. This is an excellent example of the strength of country music storytelling. Country is simply about life's ups and downs. Here is proof that tragedy is horrific and sometimes beautiful all at once. Shake it off and be thankful you can relate, but you have not had to experience this cautionary lesson. Beauty can be brutally honest.

      Amen to this suggestion. Fantastic song . . . and Dolly's performance is a huge bonus. FYI, I interviewed Brad when "When I Get Where I'm Going" came out and he told me Dolly ad-libbed her "Hallelujah!" lines in the song . . . and he cried in the studio as he listened to it. VERY powerful . . . and inspiring.

    As a woman who’s ex husband of 30 years walked out for another woman. This gets to me, we just laid him to rest last week and I don’t know how I am supposed to feel. I am not only mourning the loss of the man I had been with since we were dating in school when I was 13. I am mourning the later life we were supposed to have together and I was treated as nothing at his funeral. At his funeral the woman he left me for received his flag from his military service, they were not married. My sons should have gotten it in the very least. But I am the one that was dragged from one duty station to another and raised our sons when he went to DS/DS and I supported him when he wept over his fallen comrades and through the years of PTSD after he got home. She cheated with him and got the flag. But I have my our grown sons and grandkids. It just hurt that I was not included in his survivors she was.

    I come from.a long line of military and was married to a 30 yr veteran. There is NEVER an excuse for that level of betrayal. Heartless and shameless!
    My hubby's friend received a VCR recording of his wife having sex with his best friend in their bed at home. He went totally mental and they had wiped him out by the time he got home. House sold, furniture gone, bank account closed.
    There is a special place in hell for people of that caliber who would do that to someone who is facing death every day to secure your freedoms. At least have enough respect to support them until they come home you freaking cowards!
    Sorry, this always gets me.
    If you want a great USA supported vid that is AMAZING, watch Toby Keith's Courtesy of the Red White and Blue!
