The preacher placed the bible stained with his blood at the scene of the crash into the hooker's hand before he passed. Then she gave it to her son who became a preacher and he told the story. I just love to hear Randy Travis sing anything. Thank you for the reaction.
it was a blood stained bible, he gave it to her with his last words(and his blood), laying on the pavement, telling her how he could see heaven. That's what touched her soul and changed the direction of her life, the rest you got right.
I've listened to this song for years and it gets me every time. Randy Travis battled his own demons but you could always tell he was a believer in Jesus Christ. Your mom sounds like a beautiful woman. I'm sorry for your loss but what a relief to know that she's in the arms of Jesus. God bless.
@@UberDave918 Jesus saves alll you have to do is ask. I used to carry New Testament bibles that I found always a lot of the at the dollar tree. When I would to ask them accept him into your heart. I always cry to this song each and everytime.❤❤🧑🌾👨🏫📖✝️✝️✝️ preacher gave the bloodied Bible in her hand which I always imagined she knelt beside the dying preacher side of the road giving comfort in his final moments. I see it a bit like how Jesus forgave even the criminal at the hr of His death.
You know it's the line that he said "Its not what you take when you leave this world behind, it what you leave when you go" what that preacher left changed that woman life, which changed her sons, and now her son is changing lives preaching in a church
Three wooden crosses... Definitely my favorite song by Randy Travis. It makes me cry every time I hear it. Just such a full circle moment. The three wooden crosses were for the three people that passed away...the farmer, the teacher, and the preacher. The hooker lived. And you got the story exactly right after you listened to it again. From the outside, you would think that the hooker was the one in the bus that least deserved to live. But the preacher preached the word of God to her. And it probably saved her life from a life of despair. The hooker took God's word and went on to be a mother who prayed the word to her son...who then became a preacher because of that word.
Two were looking for another way.. The preacher and the hooker. He was preaching, yes, but he gave her a blood soaked bible. So he was dying when he gave it her. And I always took it as she was already pregnant and open to finding a new path.
In my mind, the truck hit the bus and before the preacher passed on, he spoke to the hooker and offered her a way out of the life she was in and with those last words he placed his Bible that was now blood stained with his blood, into her hands. And like you, I think being the only survivor as one of the bus passengers, she wondered why Jesus and God choose her to live on. The Farmer, the Teacher and the Preacher had left their impact on the ones God wanted them to. For the Hooker, her impact would be what she left for her son who was yet to be born. And she introduced God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit to herself and her son by reading the Bible to him every night. It made such an impact on the son, that he became a preacher to lead and impact others for God and his lost children.
Also, I love the part, farmer on vacation, teacher higher ed, and 2 looking for lost souls, looking from both ways lost souls connect, most would think the hooker would die before the preacher, because of her profession. To his dying moment, he was still spreading the Word
There's never going to be a time when I listen to that song and not cry... That song was playing when I was on my way to hospice to check in on my mother. That morning, God took the girl... I've been broken hearted and empty ever since.

Randy Travis is incredible. Love this song, but he walked on water, digging up bones, and on the other hand are also all great. Just a great voice and great presence in country music.
@randyrogers YES you said the 1st thing that came mind of some the many of Randy's great songs that have a great story to them I never missed his concerts when he came to town in the 90s and early 2ks
I’ve heard this song so many times, and I told myself tonight, going into this reaction video, “You are not going to cry.” It didn’t work. I can’t stop it. It’s a beautiful sentiment. It’s sad, too, for the others that lost their lives. But being the only survivor is one of the reasons that she turned her life around.
I absolutely LOVE that you have reacted to this. As a Christian I was hoping this song would mean a lot to you, and hoped you would get the lyrics & story, which you totally did, and not all reactors do. They don't listen to the story well enough to understand it, so I'm glad you did. Best wishes and God Bless!
Remember the lyric "and preacher says can't you see the promise land as handed that blood stained Bible to the hooker" (not verbatim, but it's close), he wasn't preaching to her during the trip, after the wreck before the preacher died he gave his Bible to the hooked, so it's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it's what you leave behind you when you go. The hooker took that blood stained Bible and read it to her son, who then became a preacher, and his mama got saved. It's a beautiful story of 3 saved people, who all left a legacy, but one didn't have a legacy yet, the preacher recognized that, and as he died he left her an opportunity to get saved and leave her legacy, a son who grows up to be a preacher. Hope this helps.

Oh Lord, grab the tissues! How did Randy Travis get through singing this song without crying? I cry every time I hear it. It's what you leave behind you when you go. Word's to live your lives by.
Okay. Now I am crying my eyeballs out. I miss my Momma so much. Her relationship with God was amazing. I tried to raise my son the same way your Mom did you. He turned around and ran from it until he was 35 years old. But then God’s faithfulness kicked in when he finally hit the bottom. He came back to God and myself then. He has a wife and two beautiful babies and I am truly blessed. Thank you for sharing your story about your mother.
The Little Girl y John Micheal Montgomery might be another you'd like. Hits me as hard as this one at least. Why Me Lord? by Kris Kristofferson is another good one with Christian themes.

You totally nailed the meaning of the story. This song was voted country song of the year in 2003, and won a Dove Award as the Christian song of the year as well, so you aren't the only one who was touched by this. God bless your precious mom.
Everything you said I was right with you with one little tweak, I don't remember anything in the song saying he was preaching to her before the crash. What I heard was that with his last breath the preacher left behind his vision of the promised land while he laid that same Bible stained with his own blood in that young lady's hand. In my mind I see her on the side of road after the crash watching responders pull those lifeless bodies from the wreck while still holding that Bible and realizing in that moment that she could have been one of those crosses on the side of the road but for the grace of God. And that's what changed her life.
dude close enough... a lot of people do not get this song even listening to it multiple times. I saw you reacted to it and knew you would get and you didnt disappoint
Wonderful reaction. The Hooker lived , so there was only wooden crossess for the - Farmer , Teacher and Preacher. Before the preacher dies ; he passes on his blood stained bible ( the blood on the bible is his blood ) to the Hooker and then ask's the Hooker - Can you see the light? : The hooker goes on to change her life because of the sacrifice of the preacher that died in the crash ; she goes on to have a son. She read the bible to him and that encourages her son to go on to become a preacher and then tells the storty of the 3 wooden crossess.
You are spot on with the story. Thankfully, the story is fictional, but still tugs at the heart strings. I was born and raised in the Baptist church. 😊So happy you got to her this song, and it touched you the way it was meant to. Randy may've written and sung it... but the words are from Jesus. Period. Thank you for sharing this reaction, and rest in sweet Heavenly peace to your Mom. She knew what she was talking about, even if some didn't understand what she was asking.... beautiful testimony BP. Peace, light and love to all...💞
Great song! Love Randy Travis!! The Semi hit the bus. The preacher wasn't reading her the Bible, he was handing it to her as he died, saying "can't you see the promise land"! But yep, you're right on. The hooker read that Bible to her son & he became a preacher! The words that everyone, everyday should be thinking about are "It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it's what you leave behind when you go"!!! ✝️
Some of the very best Nashville and Texas songwriters wanted Randy Travis to sing their songs. He had a lot of demons that tried to kill him, but somehow he made it through with a lot of work. Don't over-think it!
The song's lyrics include the line, "It's not what you take, it's what you leave behind that matters". The song's meaning can be interpreted as a reminder that what you leave behind is more important than what you take with you.
What a beautiful story of how our testimonies can turn a life around. God is so awesome!! We are here to work together toward His kingdom. Your Mom must’ve been a wonderful example to you. I pray you teach your children by her example. God’s got big plans for you!!🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
There Is a line in the song that says as the preacher lay dying, he handed the Hooker his bloody Bible. Hence, the line it's not what you take with you. It's what you leave behind.
I love this song. What a message. I knew you would get it, so many other reactions I've watched never got the message. Randy Travis is such a great story teller and a rabbit hole you could go down with his music.
This is a song about the gifts God gives each of us and how by using our gifts we can change and bless those around us even years after we are gone. Great message and awesome song.
Hell had nothing to do with the song. Teacher, Preacher and Farmer died, his blood stained Bible he gave to the Hooker as he died the Hooker survived and led the good life and read the Bible to him as he grew up.
My father also passed away in 2010 from cancer. He fought his demons his whole life and I’m greatly glad that he was trying to turn it all around when he passed. He started praying with me and I prayed for his suffering to end each night until it did. At his funeral we played ‘Long Black Train’ by Josh Turner because it suited his life so well, please give it a listen.
He didn’t write this song, he breathed life into it.. it is by far my favorite. It was also his last hit. He had a catastrophic stroke a few years later and he still doesn’t have complete control of his vocals, but he is an amazing human not just talented but just an amazing human being coming from the heavy metal girl
The preacher placed the bible stained with his blood at the scene of the crash into the hooker's hand before he passed. Then she gave it to her son who became a preacher and he told the story. I just love to hear Randy Travis sing anything. Thank you for the reaction.
That was the Preacher’s legacy or what he left behind
And the hooker left behind her son their preacher!!
The preacher left the bible and the word behind, and the hooker left a preacher behind
***FOREVER AND EVER AMEN*** you want that one.
@ConspiracySmurf He has done a reaction to this song...It's on his channel! 😊
“ As He laid that blood stained Bible in that hookers hand.”He gave it to her as he was dying.
He did that one already :)
I was just going to suggest that one myself.
Great song
it was a blood stained bible, he gave it to her with his last words(and his blood), laying on the pavement, telling her how he could see heaven. That's what touched her soul and changed the direction of her life, the rest you got right.

10:29 The preacher wasn’t preaching to her until the moment that he was dying.
Just like the scene between Mary magdalene and Jesus in the chosen episode 1 I think
In my mind, the truck hit the bus and before the preacher passed on, he spoke to the hooker and offered her a way out of the life she was in and with those last words he placed his Bible that was now blood stained with his blood, into her hands.

Congrats on your upcoming anniversary. In November, we will be celebrating our 43rd anniversary 😀
Some of the very best Nashville and Texas songwriters wanted Randy Travis to sing their songs. He had a lot of demons that tried to kill him, but somehow he made it through with a lot of work. Don't over-think it!
Your mom did exactly what we are all supposed to do. Wow. Her love for The Lord and others is amazing.
I love the look on your face when you figure it out - you were completely blown away ❤❤
Next from the Randy "Rabbit Hole"... Diggin up Bones 😉😂
You talking 'bout your Momma made me tear up! ...GOD BLESS YOU BLACK PEGASUS!
And your Momma!
Such a beautiful song, when it was released I cried the first time I heard it.
The song's lyrics include the line, "It's not what you take, it's what you leave behind that matters". The song's meaning can be interpreted as a reminder that what you leave behind is more important than what you take with you.
Remember when was Alan Jackdon. Your reaction to Randy was Forever and Ever Amen.
Your mother sounds like an amazing woman!!! May we all strive to be more like her!!! The great thing is you will be with her again!!!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it's what you leave behind you when you go.
This song gave Travis a Dove award for Song of the Year and a CMA for Country Song of the Year. Theres a reason Randy Travis is Garth Brooks hero.
Probably my favorite Randy Travis song.
Oh what a beautiful reaction, I love that you are honest about your emotions and that you show your faith.
Hell had nothing to do with the song. Teacher, Preacher and Farmer died, his blood stained Bible he gave to the Hooker as he died the Hooker survived and led the good life and read the Bible to him as he grew up.
This song always makes me cry
My favorite song of redemption. You cannot outrun God’s Grace.
This song always gives me goose bumps and sometimes tears me up.
I really enjoyed your reaction. The song never fails to get me. Sorry for your loss, she sounds like a wonderful woman.
He didn’t write this song, he breathed life into it.. it is by far my favorite. It was also his last hit. He had a catastrophic stroke a few years later and he still doesn’t have complete control of his vocals, but he is an amazing human not just talented but just an amazing human being coming from the heavy metal girl
One of my all time favorite songs ❤ and Josh Turners Long Black Train ❤🙌🙌🙌
Knew it when it was new and it still makes me cry
I grabbed tissues before I clicked on.
A great song that gets me every time I hear it. Love seeing people get emotional from hearing this. The Lord changes lives!
