    I gotta question. I know nothing about website building. I started out on Ecwid but to get variation I have to upgrade and its too costly for my small business. I ended up on Wix just to get Variation function. due to the cost. I haven't launched either, just trying to use to the best one with functions i want. Any alternatives to these?

    • @Daniellaio
      @Daniellaio  2 года назад +2

      Hey Trevon, of course, the most important thing in eCom is to chose the solution that best suits Your business needs, and if that is Wix for your use case, that's great. To be honest, there are very few reliable, feature-packed, completely free / cheap eCommerce solutions. Ecwid is my favourite, but if you need product variations, you do have to upgrade. Shopify is only free for 14 days, and then can get pretty expensive. BigCommerce more expensive than Ecwid as well. WooCommerce is another solution but you need a Wordpress site, basic coding, setup, and website maintenance knowledge. Sorry I don't really have any others in mind but I teach Ecwid here because I love their solution: it's not very well-known and generally fits for those with a high features / low-budget need. All the best

    Ciao Danielle :) How you doing? I have an important, super important QUESTION to ask you: I have a language teaching business and I sell digital products at the moment (an ebook and a course) on a software called Podia. I love this software compared to the competitors BUT it's a little expensive and also it only allows me to sell digital products.
    Moreover, I'm developing a series of PHYSICAL products that I will start to sell by the end of September and I have to think about a solution between:
    1) Staying with Podia (for the course) and adding Ecwid for the physical products.
    2) Moving everything on Shopify (but I know Shopify is very limited in terms of design of the pages and you have to stay within their framework)
    3) Do everything via Wix (website, courses, products)
    I'm really torn and I can't make the next move. What would you do in my place?
    Thank you so much!
    A.

    • @Daniellaio
      @Daniellaio  3 года назад

      Ciao AP, Thanks for your question sounds great. Here are my thoughts:
      1) I like this solution because you already setup Podia and especially if you created an interactive course with their software, I would stick with them for now. You can embed Ecwid to your site to sell physical products and test your market, and if that works then try Podia + Ecwid. I would not radically change my entire site if I was not sure if products were even going to work yet, the Podia + Ecwid solution should work great. However, if you did not create an interactive course with Podia (and only sell .pdf or similar documents) you can do all that with Ecwid eventually if you like their solution better. If questions come up let me know in the comments here.
      2) I don't like Shopify for a bunch of reasons, notably the costs: ruclips.net/video/JJrcus7gjnQ/видео.html
      3) Same for Wix, but more because of lack of features: ruclips.net/video/bYKcWF-Qg5g/видео.html
      I hope that helps!
      All the best

      @@Daniellaio Ciao Danielle :) Thank you so much for your kind answer! :) You are great! I appreciate your feedback and you are right, I think I will stick with Podia for now. I noticed that Shopify is very limited when it comes to page design. I'm not a coder and I don't want to do extra work, it looks like that other than the homepage, you can't customize anything else (or you spend extra money for plugins or expensive themes :S ) and they take COMMISSIONS... Podia and Ecwid don't take any commissions.
      The only thing is that I can't embed Ecwid on Podia directly, I can only create a link in the menu that will redirect on my Ecwid store ( I have already started to explore Ecwid and I love how simple and straightforward is) and I think that it's the best choice for me. I will start with one product anyway.
      I love Wix as website builder, I have built so many websites with Wix and my first business as well. But now it looks like they are trying to do everything, without mastering any of it. Some features require apps that have extremely negative feedbacks, like the app for creating online courses (that's the reason I chose Podia, that it's specialized in digital products) and the mobile versione doesn't look very good sometimes.
      Well, my 2 cents. I hope that might help someone along the way.
      Thank you so much once again!
      A.

      Absolutely agree about Wix and Shopify, those are some of the points I cover in the videos I listed above lol Love Wix as a website builder but the mobile version is terrible, translations are complicated, eCommerce is lacking a ton of features, and they are trying to do absolutely everything it's becoming a very confusing business.
      Glad you are enjoying Ecwid! Did you try embedding using this method? ruclips.net/video/82DH7vtJM0g/видео.html Otherwise a link to the store in the menu is fine.
      Thanks, glad I could assist!
      Best of luck :)

    thank youuu for the comparison this was really helpful. I was debating to purchase wix as it is already used as my host but my domain is with google so why not use another one for the online store lol lol (this is what happens when you do things on your own haha) serious note: knowing it is an option to add ecwid as stated, i'm thinking of using this route. well, i will probably do a test run with the free option for now but do you know if there is a way to unlink host if i end up staying with Ecwid as landing page? i will definitely use your affiliate link. mahalo :)

      @Daniellaio  2 года назад

      Hey Lerato, Thanks for your comment and sorry for the delay. No there is no limit on the number of products you can sell. However if you want to limit your inventory (say only 30 available) you need to upgrade to any paid plan and you can set your own inventory limits. I demo how to setup Ecwid and create products here: ruclips.net/video/w8WG5lYcJW4/видео.html As for customer reviews, yes no problem you can use this app:

Customers can leave reviews and ask questions using this app: ruclips.net/video/sH18Axg5Oqc/видео.html There are no limits to number of products you can sell with any paid plan. You can set your own stock limits below the price of the product once you get a paid plan. I hope that helps sorry for the delay! All the best

    OMG YES! YES! And YES!!
    I am not a one man island clearly!
    After 17yrs of strictly WIX, I am beyond WEARY and exhausted of their basic boring bares & bones offerings THAT NEVER REALLY WORK. NOTHING WORKS!
    I can’t take it anymore. Back when ADOBE FLASH was around, WIX was KING bc you could creatively ball out. The options were unlimited with Flash. The sky and your own creativity were the limit. But once HTML5 came, it truly killed the game and websites have never rebounded.
    And WIX bc a nightmare experience for developers bc they began offering the bare minimum in everything. The websites stability became null and void and janky....AND YES TRYING TO KEEP A DECENT MOBILE WEBSITE UP AND OPERATING BECAME IMPOSSIBLE!!
    Not one dam device plays WIX websites the same. Their software is so incredibly janky and unstable with consistency smooth playback. It’s always heavy barely moving and hiccups everywhere ....No matter what gadget you’re viewing from it looks completely different someway somehow on each device... and on some devices the website looked completely torn apart like a tornado came through... it is the most mindnumbing time stealing experience and they should be literally sued for the amount of hours they waste in a human being’s lives.
    Ive literally saty two weeks straight trying to get my site to play the same on all devices just to come back and find that The moment you move one thing something else moves because you can no longer lock down the elements on the screen while you’re creating ...theyve removed so many convenient tools that you end up literally wasting hours replacing everything you did ...over and over like a loon. All the time. It’s mind numbing. And I literally can’t even believe that I even fool with such a joke of a website. The only reason why I stick with them at this point is out of habit,lolalty and bc they have my whole entire library and I don’t feel like uploading photos elsewhere bc my six library goes back as far as 17 years otherwise WIX is literally a joke to me.
    But after my last experience and having customers see my website looks so crazy all the time it’s not even worth sticking around for the gallery ...they do not have their act together in a likely never will and I am almost just like screw the gallery I just wanna have a fun inspiring creative experience when Im building my website and in my creative zone... not exhausted angry and ready to curse everyone out. Wix has sucked the life force out of me.

      Omg, don't get me started on the mobile version!!! Haha NOPE you are not on an island alone frustrated with WIX, there are lots of other people like you! ^^ They were running a ton of ads for their eCom solution so I felt the need to voice my experience and opinion :) I allude to it in this video but their business is doing SO MANY things instead of making THE BEST website editor. I think the focus is so scattered that their main products are failing. Anyway, just my opinion ^^ WIX is great for some people, I just don't think those people include me or my clients anymore. Sorry the life force was sucked out of you but maybe Ecwid or another solution will help restore some of it ^^ Best of luck!

    • @DrLauraRPalmer

      @@Daniellaio thank you so much! You know you hit it on the head for me as to why the over all experience is so subpar for everyone dealing with Wix platform, even though there’s so many fun drag and drop options... and that’s bc YES they spread great energy into a million directions and it cheapens the quality and ruins the entire experience.
      THATS THE LIGHT BULB for me. Meaning it’s not getting better anytime soon. And If you’re more the custom creative type you’re going to almost have an aneurysm watching countless hours just literally be wasted with no recourse. Or SITE. And then have clients to answer to at some point. Just unacceptable at this point.
      Today I logged in and thought I was having one of those moments when I realized they’ve gone in and deleted all our old flash websites that the builders had sitting and saved. No you can’t publish them but I had saved mines simply for the layout of the content and had found use of my old wix flash sites using the screenshot feature. Creating “still” looks I didn’t have to rebuild. But they were mines, my hard creative work just gone and deleted. And they were there long after flash went away. So to just decide to delete them without word or permission was such a trespass to an artists work space and this level of violation put me in a space of no return. I could hardly catch breath coming to grips that all my nostalgic work had been ripped away and only the corny HTML5 sites left.
      I’m so DONE.😖
      I’m def going to check your recommended alternative! THANK YOU! BE WELL ~

    What does it look/function like to embed the store onto WIX? Is it a link redirect? Does it look seamless? Does it sit on the wix page like a window in a window? My website has to hold a portfolio as well as a a couple other pages, so I was looking for seamless solutions for a shop that would slot right in.
