You are THE MAN, Eric! I bought this set for my '05 G35X. I know there's a small difference between the AWD and RWD suspension, but this is all the info I need to be prepared for my install. Really dude, you've helped me a lot with fixing up my project G. Keep doing what you're doing!
R u still running these coils on the g35x? I also have a 05 g35x and I’m currently in the market for coilovers but I’m not sure which ones will fit with the awd g
@@vloak1023 MaxSpeedingRods have a set made for the AWD. I literally just put them on my '05, front and back. They should run you about $300 for the whole set. The only bad part is the AWD versions don't come with the little silver piece that Eric has on his front coilovers that hold the brake line and the ABS cable. I asked MaxSpeedingRods if I can buy those pieces separately and it doesn't look like I can.... whatever, zip-ties it is.
Hey my tires are being shredded too and didn’t know y until this vid!!💪🏼, but now I want to know if I need after market toe arms or camber arms or both???
Ive been running them on z1 upper control arms for 7 months shits are perfect with some preload adjustments and stiffest dampening option. And i drive hard everyday!
These coilovers look identical to the budget set I bought from Z1 Motorsports or Concept Z Performance several years ago. Performance wise, they were great. Lowered the car a little bit which helped with cornering/body roll. Longevity wise was a different story. I removed them after a year as one shock started leaking. Ended up going to stock shocks/struts with Eibach lowering springs.
@@jo.maro36 I have the Eibach Pro-Kit which is only about a 1" drop. It was a little bit more firm than stock, but not harsh at all. The Eibach Sportline is a much more aggressive drop for my car, and would have been even more firm, but I never race/track my car, so I never felt a need to go lower/firmer.
@@Wes_T ok yea I’m not tracking my car or anything either I just want to close that gap pretty much so that sounds perfect to me. As long as it’s not too bouncy haha. Thank you
Bro I had these and they were great until they gave out suddenly car went over a speed bump and at expected for a lowered G and the rear tower blew out and got bent. Wouldn't recommend just save up and get a good set.
No, you should spend the money on a decent set of coil overs. These are hot garbage. They just look cheap as fuck. Honestly that whole car belongs in the junkyard.
is your rear bouncy at all? I installed maxpeeding rods in mine as well but the rears are true coils and bounce so crazy. it's stiff but bounces crazy on the highway when there's a dip
@@ERICSDIYGARAGE I did, I maxed them out and they are much stiffer which I like. but the moment it dips down over a bridge area it bounces like crazy but settles back real quick. I used to be on lowering springs so it was smooth but maybe I'm just not used to it
@@fc1will I honestly haven't. I raised it up and have just been driving it the way it is. It's not as bouncy as before but I have the damper on max stiffness. If I make it any lighter it's like riding a boat and I'll throw up.
Hey I put 20s on my g37 cpe and my front driver tire is being shredded but only when I go up my slanted driveway , I have to turn left to get up my steep driveway which has caused the tire damage just like the picture you showed, now my question is your were saying to get aftermarket tow arm so with these can you do that or no would I need the Raceland ones? Because I'm assuming I need adjustable tow arms right?? I'm lucky I only damaged one tire and found out it's been from going up the driveway, I also can't find a place to do an alignment every since i put the 20s on my car because it sits lower in the front so I don't know what to do to be able to get an alignment, would love to know your opinion when you have time and thx 🙏
Damn, good thing I found his channel, I've been dying to do some suspension upgrades on my cars. I've got an 11 Lancer gts 2.4 and an 06 g35 coupe. This setup looks nice though.
@ERICSDIYGARAGE I think I have that issue you mentioned , my rear tires look like their cambered looking sideways I have tein coilovers. So to fix that I would have to go with an entire different set up of suspension then ?
Yes, however camber arms can help but it won't fix the problem entirely your toe setting is going to be off as well and to fix that you need to remove the spring bucket which means true style coilovers
Also I have that clunking sound as I am driving sometimes or when I go over a speed bump I hear a that clunk coming from the rear could it be because of the coilovers having metal to metal contact ?
Bro i need your help!! Finally ready to get coilovers but dont know what to do. Should i get divorced rear spring and strut or full complete struts/coilovers and add the camber thing in the back. Or what brand. I have a 07-08 g35x same as the 09 g37x. All same crap. Help please!!!

I run these on my Honda Prelude and havent gave out. Its not been driven more than 10,000km though
I put these on my g and the threads on all 4 stripped when adjusting the ride hight.waste of money.my opinion
Just bought a RSX type S that has these orange ones in the rear. So far so good.

Great video! Did you ever do any updates to the 35
Why didn't you grease the coilover components that would be rubbing while you drive when you had it apart?

No I havent found a solution it clunks a bit still but not too crazy
@ERICSDIYGARAGE mine does this also on my g35 it makes a small noise but I think it's because of my wheel bearings on the wheel lol
Can you put a 1/2 thick rubber cut out washer to to quiet them this would be DIY.
Probably will work but the spring it also to small for the bottom on the bucket to sit flush
Question?
Can you lift the car up with that
With what

My front coilovers from the front are too close or touching my lower control arm
I think your referring to the compression arm it could be that you have them set too low

Mine excessively noisy in the back they clunk anything to get that to go away
well his didn’t fit the rubber insulation in the rear , maybe since you probably didn’t get to fit that either, that’s the noise
What did you end up doing about the lower bucket seat insulator? Greased it, universal seat, or nothing.
I installed it that way. it only made noise when hitting potholes
Can the stock springs be used in the rear with the maxspeedingrods struts ?
Yes but you will be at stock ride height in the rear
Damn, good thing I found his channel, I've been dying to do some suspension upgrades on my cars. I've got an 11 Lancer gts 2.4 and an 06 g35 coupe. This setup looks nice though.
Did you find out what was the clunking noise? I installed mine and I’m also heading a clunking noise when going over the dividers
The clunk is because of not enough suspension travel sadly I don't think it can be fixed I just go over them slowly
Are these good for daily driving
Yes they are good enough
Professional grade and Ricelands don't belong in the same sentence. 800 Dollars is cheap, cheap.
Thanks for your opinion
What other bolt do u take off besides what's on the lower control arm

I see on the website there is an orange set for like 330 and a black/blue set for like 470. I dont know whats the difference though?

Could you make a peice of rubber to sit under there to stop clunking ???
I'm sure it can be done but without a 3d printer not sure if it's something the every day person can do
