For the price of only $300 and the simple fact that they will give you full control over your your vehicle's ride height, it's really not a bad deal. Yeah, you have to source new hardware for part of the install but overall, they get the job done!
Now it's time to take the car to AutoX and see how well they perform! Afterwards if they're too bouncy or soft I'll probably tighten up the preload on the springs to reduce how much the suspension is traveling and hopefully it helps!
It gonna drive well. When you test it out on autoX then see where it should be at. It be taken them turns like BUTTER. I love how people be calling you Darnell lmao🙏🤣
If I'm being honest I might get these coil overs for my tl acura
I have been on the fence about getting these coilovers for my 07 acura tsx.....yes I want control over ride height but also want them to perform well in the twisties....throughout all my research I found out its like a 50/50 chance of them fitting well, performing and riding decently....I might just bite the bullet and buy them....
Ask maxpeedingrods for a bit stiffer springs
Look into a bump steering kit
Look into a “bump-steer kit” Daniel! They’re made to fix the problem you’re having while driving! Contents been awesome lately!!
How would a bump steer kit help with the car swaying? I think it’s just too soft of a setup.
@@Zorbii you could be right as well, I’m no expert here by any means. I just know bump steers sometimes are a recommended thing when doing coil over kits due to your car being much lower than what your steering components are for, causing a “sway”/“walking” effect while driving. Just my input. Thanks for the response!
@@Zorbii it will allow the car to work better with aftermarket parts essentially .
@@Zorbii or maybe just put the old springs on these coil overs
That actually is kind of useful information! When I took it to AutoX the only way I could describe how it handles is like it’s walking.
I’m looking further into this
I’ve got 14 minutes left on my break thank the lord you posted. Happy to see it!
😉
Get an alignment Daniel! After you change suspension components, it changes all of the alignment specs. Get it adjusted and the car will feel a lot better.
I plan to eventually. The alignment still feels great though.
yo wassup darnell. haven’t watched a vid in a while, been hella busy. hope ur doing well and congrats on your promotion.
promotion?
@@jacob1423 yeah, he was promoted to content manager i think for gavin aka itsjusta6
Did you mean Daniel?

Some kinda sponsorship
Love the look of the beard bro. I cant wait for more with Zoeii. Gettin closer and closer to getting better and better with autocross. She gon handle good.
I can’t wait to get her dialed in
I'm thinking of going with bc racing true coilovers on my z but right now I'm replacing all my bushings with energy suspension polyurethane and boy is it so much fun
You and Gavin are 100% my two favorite people to watch on the entire internet!!! Love the videos and can’t wait to see how much this steps up the z!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You installed the rears incorrectly. The spring hat goes on the top of the subframe, which is why you couldn't fit the strut.
I bought these for my old 2004 v6 mustang and they seized up and couldn’t change the ride height they rusted super quick too def not worth it every time I turned it made the scariest snapping noise
Yeah these are a little noisy too. But so far so good
That's why you run antisieze on them that's user error
Hay I have those maxspeeding coilovers on my Lexus LS400. But I have to swop my springs. They had the 9kg on the front and the 10kg on the rear out the box. I moved my 10kg to the front and the 9 kg to the rear.and it rode a lot better. Now I have the 10kg on the rear and put 12kg springs on the front know. Made a big difference. I've had mine on my car for over 2 years.
So how well do they perform now, after the right springs were installed, as far as handling and adjustment goes? Worth it on a low horsepower daily driver tht gets wild every now and then? lol
@@THE_JB222 after putting the right size springs on and in the right place the car handles a lot better. I can take corners a lot faster than I did with my factory struts. It takes time to adjust and change parts to make it work the right way.
You can get different springs?
@@Zorbii yes and check your spring rate because you might have the smaller springs in the front and they might be shorter to
@@Zorbii if you do have the smaller springs in the front move them to the rear. And put the bigger spring rate in the front. That will also give you more adjustable on the rear of your vehicle. Also make sure your adjusting your preload properly. That's probably Y you was having that swaying filling when driving
You need to put the piece that u have on the bottom of the spring bucket onto the top of the spring Also make sure ur preload is good in the front
Preload is tight in the front, it helped a little. I haven't flipped the rear yet though. Once I get the car to Georgia, I'll make sure everything is fixed on it.
I think for a budget suspension upgrade you would be happy with keeping those lowering springs but putting them on a Bilstein B8 or other firmer strut.
I’m not sure if those springs would fit would they? I guess that could work
@@Zorbii if the springs work for your stock shocks then the should work for the B8s. Bilstein may also make a set specific for lowered cars
They are true coilovers for the rear and then typically most ppl delete the bucket with camber arms.. ik stock is shock, and a divorced set up. The point of it is to get more camber too (for deleting the buckets)
check the preload on the springs and adjust the rear shocks. also maybe needs alignment after everything
Increasing the preload helped some. Adjusting the shocks also helped slightly. the rear may need to be tighter though. Once I get the car to Georgia I'll go through the entire thing and make sure it's right.
Fun fact about that bolt in the rear shocks
The stock lug nut will work
Assuming if you’re installing coils you probably have wheels that use aftermarket lugs
Works in a pinch
Good to know if I ever need more 😂 I’ve got tons of lug nuts around
if you're on a tight budget and you still want a quality coil over i definitely recommend the max peeding
They’ve been solid so far 🤷🏽♂️ I can’t argue
Strange that it feels softly sprung. Usually people say MXR are stiff. You can probably either get MXR to send you a stiffer set of springs or just buy some aftermarket springs that are stiffer.
Or get some FA’s and compare the two 👀
I do plan on increasing the preload to see if it gets better though!
by far my favorite 350z build on the internet. right up there with the guy hellcat swapping his
Has that hellcat swap ever happened?
That church music had me dead when you were trying to work on the car! XD I wonder what they think when you start up zoeii in the middle of a song tho
They actually love Zoeii 😂 every time I pull it out it gets some attention
@@Zorbii They just love the butt stuff 😂
@@Zorbii That's awesome
feeling young with my new cobalt coupe lol . car will be driven to and from work and will probably get passed on to my daughter as soon as she learns to drive stick. Definitely buying -purely for a height drop, seems like it may be a good fit for my needs. great video btw
I like watching him bc he actually responds to ur fans love u man ur doing great can't wait to come down and see yall and hang out been watching all yall si ce day one I told my new boss how inspires u and I told her u and Gavins life story
I’m tryin boss 🙏🏼 thank you
You should get a electronic gauge cluster it will look so much better than the stock one
Idk if they make one tho
Good to know about some of the struggles of a coilovers kit. I think if I get some for my s550 I will just get the Vikings. Then again I do more drag racing not autocross
These don’t feel like they would be bad for drag racing honestly. They have a decent bit of travel.
@@Zorbii good to know! I may actually look into them. I don’t want to lower my car much more then it is, but adjustment for the track would be nice!
For the price, they’re a start 🤷🏽♂️
@@Zorbii for sure. I will check into them and keep your code handy
You put the coil overs on wrong in the rear, the spring and shock are a true coil over and go where the shock mounts. The spring bucket is usually replaced with an adjustable arm.
I don’t think I installed them wrong lol. This isn’t a true coilover setup
If course🏁
You’re supposed to put that spring holder on the top and get rid of the other thing
haha that watch tan line doin u bad😂 love the vid tho keep em comin!
Of course 💁🏼♂️
I put some bc coilovers on my z I love them, one of the best coilovers u can buy i highly recommend them
I know BC is pretty standard.
I'm curious to see if you figure out the issue you are having. I have a set on my 98 Corolla and i get on some nice roads often / throw the car into corners stupid hard lol and the car feels very planted and predictable. I have my dampers stiffened all the way but besides that i didn't change anything out the box (besides ride height of course)
Keep up the videos man. Love the content. 💪🏼
They haven’t been horrible. They actually got better and settled a bit after a day or two.
Something I've seen a friend do was set some preload in the springs just a tad bit
I plan to do that actually. That’s the next move
You car makes me wanna get an exhaust for mine. The vqs sound so good when they're not stuffed up from factory
I agree. I prefer single exits
I don't have a lot of experience with single exits and dual exits besides what I see from you, gavin, and a few other car youtubers, and I have even less experience with the vq platform. (for the time being) Either way, the single exit on zoeii sounds amazing. If I'm correct, the maxima has the same engine as the 350s, that being the vq35 de(will be fact checked after this is sent lmao), and that just makes me want to start playing with the exhaust.
Ughhhhh why can't I just have a paid off car 😫
Yeah, they sent me coilovers for my WRX build and they raised the back of the car like 3" at the lowest setting 😆. I made them fix it but they are still sketchy
Had any problems since then?
@@Zorbii I sold the car not too long after. It was an 08 WRX so the stock springs were pretty soft. Those coilovers were way more stiff than the stock ones. Yeah my problem was the total opposite of yours. Glad it was for a review and I didn't pay anything for them 😆
You installed the rear springs upside down. The orange part goes on top.
Edit: also you should get it re aligned.
That’s interesting. I’ve always seen people do it from the bottom 🤔 I’ll take them off sometime soon and flip them to see if it makes any difference.
@@Zorbii it’s so the metal of the spring isn’t rubbing against your car making noise
Which it definitely is. But the spring just fits into the bucket securely??
@@Zorbii yup there should be a piece of rubber or something to keep it from rubbing on the bucket. I have a similar kit on my cobalt. And that’s how it was instructed.
It makes sense. That’s why I was so confused with these. They don’t come with anything extra to my knowledge. I’ll just have to play with them some more
Could it be the car you have? I’ve heard about some of the like 200s bmws suspensions are already so good that there’s no reason to get coilovers IDK
best way to spend my lunch break ayeeee
Ayyeeee
I would probably just keep the lowering springs and put stiffer swaybars on
That’s definitely an option
My friend had a set that lasted maybe 4 months. I had a set of their caster camber plates that was trash.
Could The swaying and pulling back and forth could be due to the alignment? Cuz when you changed shocks you messed with the alignment
Unless Z's are different than what I'm personally used to dealing with
Z’s don’t fuck with allignment because you only have to disconnect the ball joint.
Ahh that makes sense
I’m sure it’s not perfect, but it won’t change it that much
Daniel: *struggling to put on the coilovers* son of a..........
Church goers next door: * playing music* PRAISE THE LORD JESUS!!!!!
🤷🏽♂️ They actually love seeing the car out occasionally lol. It's a pretty interesting duo
Maybe check the toe?? I’m not sure if it would have changed with that suspension change or not but that can definitely change the feel of the steering of a car
It was more body roll than anything. I need to stiffen up the springs.
The adjustment hat for the springs in the rear goes on top of the spring not under.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that before. I’m pretty sure it goes on the bottom.
How do you compare the swift springs to these coils?
You put the rear springs and adjusters in upside down bro
If you want a stiffer ride on cheap coil-overs you have to compress your spring more.
I plan to. We will see how much it helps.
@@Zorbii I have a 2007 g35 sedan and I bought some cheap coil overs for it too, and it made such a big difference ones I compress the springs it was unbelievable how much of a difference it made.
Good to know!
@@Zorbii by the way I’m a big fan of your videos, I wanna eventually supercharger or turbo my 2007 g35, and I’ll make it a little bit of more power since I have the HR 👀👀😂
I know you hate editing thumbnails but it really didn't look that bad lol. Loved the video man, keep them coming.
🙏🏼 thanks man
Been waiting for this one! ;-) quality content
Lol me too
did you adjust the preload?
I did not. But, that is something I plan on to doing ASAP to see how much it helps.
look how little those are and instead of suspension travel you will jest launch into the air they are probably wobbling
Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s not even really a coilover setup in the rear is it? Because the coil isn’t… y’know… over the shock?
I think a lot of companies do that for these cars
They do. It’s pretty common to see this setup. Some companies do a true setup though.
That’s how they ride my srt4 felt like it had no sway bar car was swerving alot
Maybe some preload will help
Hand tight (uses impact) yup hand tight zorbii 😂😂😂
I used my hands to use the impact 🤷🏽♂️
@@Zorbii 😂
@Zorbii I had these same coilovers on my 350z. They rusted through in about a year. Just a heads up. Hope mine was just a bad pair
I got my original rear shock to get in by having like 6 people sit in the back of my Z while I jacked up the rear so it would compress the spring.
Oh so I wasn't the only one I guess.
They will definitely rust up without protection. Any sets I install I plan to regularly spray down with silicone lube, WD-40 gel, or some other form of rust prevention. Never seize on the lock collars as well can help.
How are they now if you still got ‘em?
I have been running those for 2 years on my miata at autox not that bad at all worth it for being budget
@@Zorbii yup same color and everything just made for a Miata. Don't have to many complaints. I was on a budget and racing was coming fast. Been 2 years and lots of back road runs, autox track runs and summer driving. I don't mind them. Only 1 issue is my rear is full max low and still sits high but some time ill be able to upgrade lol #brokeboi
Why didn't you adjust the travel speed of the shocks wouldn't that adjust how the coil overs react ??
I did. I increase the dampening as much as possible
Love your energy man 😂👌
Thank you bro 🙏🏼
Honestly I’ve ran maxpeedingrods on a couple on my cars and if you use them correctly they last and work the same as the expensive coils etc
I’ll definitely be testing these for a while.
I just love how I watched an illiminate video earlier and gang gang ig
gang shit
Looks like it's gotta supercharger on the car how is that stock
Mine didn’t even last 6 months 🙃😂 good luck
We will see 🤷🏽♂️
I'm going to say this now, FOR YOUR SAFETY TAKE THEM OUT, I had these on my mother's caliber before getting racelands for her and at first they felt super bouncy like yours, they then got stiff in the front for no reason, we needed to get bearings for the front since the strut twists while steering (normal for her type of vehicle). I took the front end apart when she lost all suspension up front and it felt like driving on a brick after driving my little brother to school, I found both struts bent so bad they were touching the inner part of the spring, never again after that, they never even sent a refund for them since it was only 2 weeks in. I'm worried since you will be putting yours thru more stress you could have a bigger failure. Please be careful and assess this issue as if it's your life on the line
I'll be keeping an eye on them for sure
You get what you paid for!!
doing suspension shit looks like a pain in the ass lmao. If I ever manage to afford suspension for my truck I might just have a shop do it xD
It saves money doing it yourself though 🤷🏽♂️
@@Zorbii thats definitely true, just looks like way more of a job than I have the tools for lmao. Then again who knows, by the time I can afford suspension shit I might have better tools to do it on my own, which if I do ill do it myself just for the experience
Can’t wait to see how these coil overs handle. I want to get some for my civic, for AutoX.
Don't do it buddy. They are not worth it. Mine broke in less than a year and that was casual street driving
Well AutoX is the next video!
I think AliExpress has cheaper coilovers
Me: “oh yea fuck then threads, just fuck em.”
Zorbii: “everybody is cringing right now I already know it”
might need an alignment too maybe
Probably
11:32 currently running into this issue as I speak
Hey Daniel have you looked into getting some TEIN coil-overs i was gonna get some for my g35 before i had to sell it?
I have, I never got around to it though because I’d probably spend the money on something nicer.
It's because of y'all that I love Cal Scruby.
We love him too
what happend to Gavins Time out youtube channel
imo it seems like it needs shorter but stiffer springs.
I plan to increase the preload, so that should do exactly this.
Let's get all the lugs hang tight (uga dugas insue)

I watched Daniel edit this live on twitch😎
Aye what’s good
The MaxSpeednRods makes s one pretty good suspension. I have a mk4 gti using them and i have to say after 2 years they are pretty damn nice. Of course they are not at good as the big name brands but for the price im completely satisfied. Even had a family use them and they enjoyed them also.
I feel like they will be pretty solid for the price
For said price most definitely.
