I took my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7 liter to a mechanic to diagnose of the driveline was bad or something else was the problem. He bumped around with the bottom of his fist and shook the exhaust and driveline, and he said there was little play in the front driveline, so I changed it out with a new one with a bigger end cap on the differential side, and it fit. The truck sounds great. But last night it sounded a little loud and smelt like unburnt fuel and exhaust. I checked today and bumped around some and it doesn't feel loose!!! Not sure if it has a leak or not on the driver side. There isn't much space to getting those bolts on the 07.
This question is for your first video because my jeep just started doing the same thing…. When you rev the engine did the clicking it louder or did it stay the same?
my truck sounds like yours. When you had the issue, during a cold start, did the noise get gradually quitter or would the noise suddenly stop? My truck suddenly stops making the noise after a few seconds.
Dealership did it under warranty. Receipt said is was $1600. They dropped the front drive shafts. Probably cheaper at local shop. Fix is easy, getting to it is the hard part.
i have the same problem. i start it and it ticks like crraaaazzzyyyy then once its warmed up it stops, but if you let it idle for like 30 mins after being warm from driving it it ticks again for a few minutes
How hard would it be to do this job? I have the same issue and I’m considering bringing it to a local mechanic instead of the dealership due to not being able to throw $1600 as you stated before in other comment thanks stay safe
It was in the shop for 3 days. They had to drop the front drive assembly. Lots of labor but nothing complicated. Hard to get access so you have to remove a lot of parts. I've heard of guys doing it in their garage. Looks like a PIA though. Local mechanic might charge less than the dealership rate. $150/ hour. Plus tax, parts, shop fees.
Thanks, I watched both of your videos, this sounds quieter than the previous video.

This is exactly what my 2015 5.7 Chally sounds like. I'll have to for sure get this looked at.
Hopefully before warranty is up.

When you had the cracked bolts did the sound quiet down after it was warm
Yeah. If you listen in the video it settles down near the end. Watch the 2nd video to hear it after it's been fixed.
CUBuff2001 yeah mine starts off incredibly loud at first and becomes almost negligible once it warms up

CUBuff2001 parts are cheap I’m just concerned with the factory air suspension and a slip of the hand and then I have a bigger problem lol

The invoice was $1600.
Wow thats a lot of cabbage im gonna try and fix it myself
@@jeffjones8955 yeah. Mine was a warranty job. Its possible to fix yourself. Just have to drop the front drive assembly for access.
