Kingdom Hearts HD Remix Phantom Boss Battle.
You know what's the funniest part beating him gets you stopagga ...a more powerful stop spell...in a boss that required you to use stop spells to survive....if that isn't rubbing salt into the wounds I don't know what is
True, but stop upgrades only increase the AoE, while your MP is what determines how long it lasts.
I actually had a funny glitch happen when I was fighting this boss one time:
When Peter Pan was getting the countdown, he died just as Donald tried to heal him, and for the rest of the time Donald was alive, all I kept hearing was "PETER PAN! PETER PAN! PETER PAN!" because Donald was apparently still trying to heal him.
Donald, he's dead! Let him go!
That's amazing
Donald no he not
Sora he fucking dead Donald he not coming back cuz u so useless
Donald no no no noooooo 😭
Best comment I've seen in a long time
Lol what a coincidence me too
I really hope he zeta flares Everyone in their pants who ever doubted him ^_^
This heartless also has a special ability to piss me off
Natsu Dragneel glad to see im not the only one.
It drives you crazy😡
yea he is tough my friend a lengthy boss battle for certain!!
Sephiroth: did someone say tough?
I hate the doom spell
I love the hidden bosses in this game, narratively they seem built to kill the hero in their given world.
Aladdin fights a scorpion that saps mana, killing magic like that which grants his wishes.
Peter Pan, a boy who never ages, fights a monster that kills you by running out your clock.
Its so creepy and cool to think about...
Kurt Zisa:Fights you offensively by sealing your magic Sora and his friends, slashing you and even when he got down a bit he still can attack you
Phantom:Fights you defensively by casting doom on your party members, magic is the key in this battle but you can hit him with the white heart and tries to run away to make sure the time is zero
Wow, when you put it that that actually sounds cool and true!!!!!
Yup without the keyblade wielder they would’ve died. Would’ve been cool if kingdom hearts did a manga about that.
But in this particular boss peterpan holds it down.
Oh SHIT, I never realized that!
That's crazy!
This fight was something epic. Flying high above London fighting a huge phantom to a sinister theme. Honestly one of my favorite bosses.
Same next to eraqus and roxas boss battles
Just imagine your roaming on the streets down below and you look up at the tower and you see the boss fight going on
Picture this: You are 7 and you wake up in the middle of the night to sneakily play the ps2 and you play kingdom hearts. You find out tinker bell has something to ask and then you accept because you think you can do anything at that point of the game. Then you see this terrifying ghost entering silently and then starts making creepy noises and you have no idea how to damage it. I'm pretty sure I turned off the ps2 and ran for my bed after that.
loool I had a similar experience and never dared go back to the clock tower until now.
This was my exact experience. I just wanted to fly around the clock tower and see if the treasure chest doors were opened. I didn't know we had to cast Stop on the clock and the party members kept disappearing one by one. It visually removes them from the hud like they didn't exist anymore. Truly terrifying.
Not gonna lie this boss fight was suspenseful due to instant death spell
Next to Sephiroth: THIS was my most HATED boss in the original game!
Honestly this boss fight was more about having to multi-manage casting stopra on the clock tower and defeating the Phantom at the same time, while also managing how much MP you have during the battle.
That sound effect the Phantom makes is badass.
Honestly, this is one of my favorites cause it was so different and unique to battle.
YEAH SO UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT MAX OUT YOUR STRENGH JUST FOR YOU TO RUN OUT OF MP WHEN HE IS GREEN
@@somnus9976 that's why it's different
Technically the strategy guide suggests that you should have Goofy in your party because he has the MP Gift ability
Honestly, it's a shame that Peter Pan had to be there for this battle because both Donald and Goofy would be useful at the same time because Donald can perform magic and Goofy can supply the MP.
This thing scared me as a kid in the original KH, mainly due to those creepy sounds it makes
The clock serves as a doom spell when phantom casts it it will take out the party one by one when the number above their heads reaches zero and I'm not completely sure about this but I think when a member is killed by doom I don't think you can revive them
It probably would have been better if the opening cutscene showed Phantom activating the clock rather than right after the fight starts where the player might miss it. This would allow players to figure out more easily that they have to do something about the clock.
Your right when their out their out you can hault the doom progress by casting stop like he did
When an ally dies after their count reaches zero, you can't revive them for the duration of the whole fight. When I first attempted this boss I didn't even freeze the clock and when I allowed Peter Pan to die, I thought I could just throw an item to revive him, imagine my shock when he wouldn't get up.
Doom was eventually used by Marluxia in KH2FM(and KH3 Re:Mind 14 years later)early on in his secret boss fight.
i went through this fight way too many times when i was younger. i used to HIT the clock with my keyblade. then one day when i got home from primary school and had the bright idea! WHAT IF I STOP TIME ON THE CLOCK. *ive never slapped my face harder. but i also feel like it wasnt actually that obvious
6:05 Was so close! Nice save to Donald!
Lucky he has Donald with him. If it were Goofy, he’d be screwed.
This is one of those bosses you would encounter at 2am playing the game because you woke up from a nightmare. You're tired and waking up, you play Kingdom Hearts, Neverland, encounter the thing you had a nightmare of and you didn't know it was real in your favorite game at the time
I wonder if this was Luxord's heartless.
Terestraz Don'y you mean Marluxia? You know? The whole doom thing going for it and Marluxia has it going for him?
Hey that actually makes sense
Since Luxord's gimmick is Time and everything
yeah good point
No, luxord existed long before this
I like to imagine every major heartless who specializes in a battle style or element similar to a organization member, that it's actually there heartless
I haven't played every single kh game, but to me this was one of the most unique boss fights. kh1 in general had far more complex boss battles than most of the other games, especially 2 and 3, where the combat ultimately just ends with mashing the hit button repeatedly.
It was the best boss fight. The theme, everything, was just perfect. The first Kingdom Hearts and Chain of Memories had better boss implementations if you asked me.
@@Manganizationpersonally I agree, data organization from kh2 fm tho, specifically roxas, feels like an exception though.
Can we take a minute to realize that this is 1930s London with tensions high before ww2 and this fight may have been easily mistook for an aerial attack on the city.
That and you can imagine some grandmas thinking the devil sent an envoy
Imagine if innocent bystanders were watching the fight from down below
Well, Wendy was still a kid, so at best it could have taken during the late 1910s or early 1920s though...
Pro tip: you can avoid the homing purple and white orb by going around to the side of the tower
Like the hiding in the opposite side/face of the tower? Or just by running away around the tower until the homing spell wears off? I thought i just had to parry them...
@@xilenclev7524 Go around to the left or right side of where you are and hug the tower to make it collide with the tower, and it will get destroyed. Don’t go all the way around to the other side of the tower. I don’t know if they can be parried, and I’m really bad at parrying so I never tried.
@@DangerXCV make it collide with the tower. Thats genius and im ashamed to admit that ive never tried using that strat. I always assumed that projectiles pass through environment collision objects, like they do in other games. I just beat this fker yesterday and my choices were either to Parry or Die. I suck at parrying too so the homing spell still hit me like 40% of the time
Alternatively If you have aeroga then just cast it before he casts the homing orb then when the homing orb hits you aeroga will cancel it out and you won't take damage
When my party member got KOed by doom I freaked out because I thought they actually died. Usually when your out of health you’re knocked out but no, here you’re dead
It’s not that this fight was hard, it was tedious
Have Donald and Peter Pan with you
Always cast stop on clock sides that are 270 degrees from it when it gets close to Big Ben
Have elixirs on you, potions on Donald, and ethers on Peter Pan
Red is weak to extreme heat, blue is weak to extreme cold, yellow is weak to high voltage, white is weak to melee attacks
You could have just said "fire, blizzard, thunder, and attack".
Thanks Captain Obvious.
how Long did it take People to understand the importance of the clock?i remember i eventually googled how to beat him XD
Infernalicon I knew about the clock from the get go, my trick was being the right level to take him on
Infernalicon that’s pathetic
Me to! I had no clue how to beat him. 😂
Infernalicon I figured it out because the game will let you target the clock's hands if you get close enough.
I never made the connection😭! I was just thinking of this Kingdom hearts boss this morning and I wondered how to beat him and now here I am...12 years later LOL
I dunno if anyone else had this happen to them, but when I first fought this boss, I was just about to kill him with one hit left. For some odd reason, he just glitches and became invincible. He made me waste all my ethers and elixers because he couldn't die.....I had to reset my game and kill him again
Objection! How could you kill him AGAIN if you didnt kill him in the first place!
After all that struggle of killing the phantom, I love how you just get a fucking stop upgrade. Like, I’m pretty sure the majority of people don’t use stop, so this is just the biggest kick in the balls
Stop upgrades only increase the range, not spell duration.
Spell duration is determined by your max MP.
Stop is badass
It’s necessary to get Serenity Power
It's the Ghost of Christmas Future gone evil!
so is that heartless the personification of death?
More like the personification of frustration.
I've heard from somewhere he's based off of something phantom related in the original Peter Pan grim tales. Course I could be wrong.
Funny story: this is what the angel of death looked like in a dream I had when I was a kid
@@kh07gl why would you dream something like that?!
@@pauljordan0203
We can totally control what it is that we dream of.
This was always the hardest boss for me not bc he can literally kill your party but bc I’m colorblind and never know which spells to cast:(
My first 100% play through I literally had an easier time beating sephiroth
Disney's Peter Pan is 68 yo today. I guess the people that worked on it never idmagined this haha
I loved fighting this boss because it came with layers of pure inconveniences and headaches.
Total newb when I fought this boss back when I was 12 or 14.
When I saw I can target the clock tower, I thought hitting it can do something, then tried using a spell. Only to find out, to stop the clock was to use Stop.
U know what my friend played kingdom hearts too and he was like a real gamer he was the best.
So I had kingdom hearts 1 too but never played it completely because bosses like this appeared 😭. Thanks to my friend I could watch him play and I was always shooketh how calm he was. 😭
Anime
I wonder why the phantom is a emblem heartless, since Pureblood actually fits him better?
He has the heartless's emblem in his back
@@rafoxas9024 I think they meant the _idea_ of the Phantom being a pureblood fits it's theme better---and I agree.
Wait a minute!
-Cloaked, shadowy figure that looks like a grim reaper
-Can fly
-Has the ability to insta-kill you
-Fights in London
-Targets little boys full of hope, dreams and aspirations
Guys! Phantom is a Dementor from Harry Potter!
Woah!
What a bastard of a boss he was but my god did it feel good to finally kick his ass.
"Hold still you bastard!" I know, right?
Easily one of my least favorite bosses
Why?? Phantom is very cool
He has a spell that will instantly kill you if you don't beat him in time.
And you need to use a lot of magic which is hard in some builds
@@zeronixthemaster2182 Literally...
In time...
At least his design is cool. The original color that is.
I remember he was the bane of my existence when this game first came out I so relieved when I finally beat him though !!!:):):)
because of this fight, I am never able to see a big clock like that the same way anymore
You'll never be able to see a big clock in real life the same?
So... How long do you think Nomura wanted a Time Janny to be in Final Fantasy?
Basically, this boss is designed to take as long as possible to beat. Its kinda smart, considering the Doom part, but boy was it annoying.
Shout-out to all the people still trying to figure out how to kill this boss.
I remember this battle and boy took me a nice chunk to get trough. Aeroraga is vital with supportive set up with Donald. I remember taking all MP rage and MP haste abilities I got to even odds against him so I can take few hits to shield returning MP barely to recover from hits.
Never encounter this boss. Maybe because I didnt play the final mix version of Kh1. Does this boss appear in the final mix version of the game and if so how do you trigger his boss fight
Phantom is in the original KH2 version that was on PS2. He’s in FM as well. To encounter him, you have to have sealed Hollow Bastions keyhole and speak to Tinker Bell in the Ships Cabin save point room. Peter Pan is required to start the boss fight encounter.
The Phantom is my most favorite boss from Kingdom Hearts 1.
U no u can just go to another face of the clock when he does that sapping projectile, it can't go through the clock to get u and will be gone
this is an amazing boss fight the struggle was real lol. and i get to fighf along side my favorite disney character.
Anyone else had a problem with this back when they first fought this guy.
Does Goofy still have the MP gift in the final mix? I always used that one against Phantom, sucked ass 'cause I didn't had Donald to heal though, useless Peter Pan...
U must have Peter Pan in ur party to do This boss fight
Tommaso Bertoli no he’s saying that Peter Pan is practically useless as a party member for some reason
Jacob Owen I basically removed a lot of Peter pan's abilities such as hummingbird and only let him have abilities that either heal or give aero so that I don't have to waste two magic bars all the time. The reason I got rid of hummingbird is because it is the attack where he spins around and wastes magic trying to hit it (and even if it has the white orb, it would be three weak hits at most)
Death decided to come for Peter pan no one can live forever lol
is it because dark secret story & theorys of peter pan just saying.

This sure brings back memories remember my face when i beat him lol
1930s London. Tensions high before ww2, suddenly flashing lights and explosions in the Big Ben and Parliament building are seen. Everyone asumes the Germans are attacking... and Sora accidentsly started ww2
I was so happy when I finally beat this boss
casting stop on that clock every 20 seconds gave me anxiety bro wdf
Even the professional was struggling with this battle
I haven't actually ever got the chance to play Kingdom Hearts 2 so I of course I haven't tried 3 but I hope there are secret bosses like these in those games too. Soon as I can I'm getting GamePass again to play them.
Bro there is a super boss in 3 but he’s super easy he’s a heartless named dark inferno
Kingdom hearts 2 has a lot of superbosses, mainly data fights but they’re all super tough and gimmicky, real good fights and a real good game
@@bloodraider9591 Tried Yozora?
@@philleotardo8542 Don't forget Lingering Will
@@bloodraider9591 KH3 has 15 super boss battles and yes dark inferno is the easiest.
Left him alive bc i didn’t know how to stop doom lol, back then i thought this was harder than sephiroth
What always got me what his darkness attack where he has those two comet things follow you. Would always kill me in 2 hits. Then I found out that you could avoid it by just being at another clock face.
How do you do this fight without running out of mp I even have mp haste equipped and usually run out of items when he gets low on health
You need tones of elixirs I had 20
This has no relation to Phantom Aqua in 0.2 Birth By Sleep A Fragmentary Passage. Except she's more of a tactic to lure the real Aqua into the Darkness, while this phantom is a time controlling wraith.
Me playing kh1 10 years later
"sTOP"
You probably already bested the heartless.
But when it uses the draining spell just hide on another side of the clock.
The spell is physical and will just break when it hits the wall.
Also bring a shit ton of ethers it may seem nooby but that's what I've done
This boss is dreadful. Takes forever to take him down because you can only take absolutely tiny chips of health each time, wasting mp hoping he'll stay still long enough (which is made worse by having to select it from the menu half of the time), and then your opportunity to get a hit in is always wasted by the AI.
You can see the AI to minimal attack.
Was it just me or did I never see this boss when I played through it over 30 times I got everything else beat In the game except this boss😂
There's something so funny about the fact Donald addresses Peter Pan by his full name while healing him
I remember a friend told me about this boss and It always sounded creepy to me. Of course I had to try it out, this dude I remember being difficult
As a Persona fan after playing the whole KH series by now, Personally I see the Phantom as their equivalent to the Shadow called the Reaper. When you think about it, both seek to reap the souls (hearts in KH) of living beings. Plus, I kinda see them teaming up with the Reaper wearing the Phantom itself to fuse their powers. Now that is what I call fighting death itself.
This fight man
Drove me insane
So this is how you get Stopga huh.. Pretty fitting because the whole boss fight revolves around spell-play and time related things and time magic mostly
So is it some sort of insta-kill attack if all the flames on the clock go out?
If you let the clock hit 0, one of your party members gets downed and you can't revive them until you beat Phantom.
It moves onto the next party member and then you if you let it. You have three chances, so you need to keep the clock stopped as much as possible. The reason this is a superboss is that this battle is one based on patience, but you're clearly timed.
Bloodyidit Ahh I see thanks.
I don't remember what level I was at the time, but I remember all too well that:
Both parties got doomed.
Phantom was 2 health bars away from being defeated.
I had no magic nor elixirs left.
I had to wait for the heart to turn white.
And the clock was ticking.
I was literally a second away from getting doomed.
The redesign looks nice albeit he no longer looks native to this world
Is this the Ghost of Christmas yet to come?

sonic Bell one of your teammates die
Time stop... This heartless boss shall make us wander forever.. well until you've figured it out how to beat him... I asked my friend who played this game.when I was in high school ..
I seriously fucking hate this boss, and i wouldn't hate it as much as other optional bosses if it didn't housed one of the upgrades for Sora's Spells, which is part of the requirement to get one of donald's strongest weapon, the dream rod. the fight is a bit TOO Specific in how to take it down (for me, i like when donald has raised mp, but all the other rods in the shops reduces his mp despite having high strength, which isn't good for a mage user)
Why does Peter Pan sound like Riku when he says Sora when giving an item lol
Lol never knew that
This boss is fucking annoying, but when you beat him... holy shit does it feel good.
This boss would've been less of a pain if I remembered that RT was a usable button
But I still killed the fucker in my third try, Praise Chirithy for Diamond Dust!
Peter pan : coocoocoo
I always thought the phantom would be marluxias heartless in some way becuase both involve doom and death
was this part of the main story? i dont think i remember it

What happens when the clock runs down?
How did I beat this dude back in the day???
Do you think that heartless was marluxia heartless
Why Peter have a time limit on?
Michael Patrick This boss casts Doom on a party member, once the count reaches 0 they will die and can't be revived for the rest of the battle. You have to delay the effect by casting Stop on the clock tower.
While some say it's one of the worst bosses, i guess it would be? Since it's an intense/hard boss to beat and takes alot of paying attention and choosing the the spell in the right time. It's raging
Never understood why people thought he was hard. He's really not, just time consuming.

I knew I should have called the Ghostbusters
u will never know how many times i died beating this boss 😪 btw why are u tanking that purple sperm thrown at u?? u should go to the other side of the clock to not get hit by those.
Also this gameplay is fake, donald keeps healing u all of the time wth
Dude you take this meme way too far just go to customize and put recovery magic and recovery items constantly
Also, couldn't you adjust party settings to have donald heal you only?
@@davidrajaruzicka5546
That option is only in KH3.
@@reddodeado301 Well shit. I thought you could adjust party settings to help get you healed though?
@@davidrajaruzicka5546
You can increase the threshold they'll try to heal you at, but choosing who they'll heal is only a thing in KH 3.
Donald will prioritize you in KH 1 though, and you can request a heal in battle by pressing triangle when low on HP (usually below slightly less than half for me).
