- When you first play games as a kid, there's gonna be at least that one game that managed to scare you in some form of or another. For me, Super Mario 64 found several ways to get that bone quivering all those years ago. Let's list down those moments!
Honorable Mentions:
Boss Bass (Tiny Huge Island)
Dire Dire Docks
Lethal Lava Land
Moneybags (Snowman Land) Игры
That Bowser laugh scared the shit out of me when I was playing the DS remake as a kid.
FINALLY, some one actually talks about how scary that eel was!
The Eel looks nasty!
But that music you used:
"Daddy, would you like some sausage? Daddy, would you like some SAUSAGES?"
That bloody killed me! *LMAO*
Bowser's final boss music made me piss my pants back when I was a kid. That and the infinite stairs.
The secret aquarium course scared me. Its basically a box filled with water with no way out. Sure the star is easy but the existential horror is there
When I was a kid, I always thought stuff like "if this is an aquarium, then what's outside? Who's watching me?"
This game's level design always leans just close enough to the uncanny valley that some parts feel real in the most unsettling ways.
I can't lie when I first played super mario 64, entering peaches castle then to be greeted by bowser made my younger self freeze in place for a good minute
kid me: **being scared shitless of the chain chop and giant eel**
currect me: **grabing 2 super crowns** Yo, watch this
Okay, now THAT'S scary.
This was one of my games growing up, but it didn't really scare the bejesus out of me as much as it probably should've. That being said, there were still some unsettling things the game had. I know you said the piano wasn't really all that scary, but when I first encountered it, it made me jump a little. It wasn't the visuals or the fact it could move, because I expected as much, but that JARRING noise it made certainly raised more than a few hairs on my skin. Pretty much the only thing that really scared me as a kid. The endless staircase was unsettling. And the eel was basically the piano for me, but without the jarring sound aspect that truly spooked me. But man, that piano... that's what truly terrified me.
I guess the tolerance of fear is different for every person, I suppose.
Glad to know I wasn’t the only one scared by Bowser’s laugh as a kid lol
This game always creep me out as a kid. That Boo haunted mansion left me a trauma 😂😂😂
im glad you know who pikamee is
The part we're Luigi siad "CREEPY BOWSER'S LAUGH" roboticly the 2nd time made me laugh hard. 🤣😂
Unusual to talk about super mario 64 with Halloween and horror but I'm a sucker for scary and horror content and most of you choices I do agree on in the game that can be scary in the game especially the frigging eel.
I had a similar reaction when I played Jolly Rogers Bay when I was a kid. Except it wasn't the Unagi Eel that scared me. It were those clams.
It's a long story but, I entered the painting to Jolly Rogers Bay, went into the water no problem, then spotted a clam. I got closer, it's mouth opens and I see a Red Coin. Just as I grabbed it, the clam closed it's mouth while I was in it. The sudden slam, combine with a decent chunk of Mario's health be depleted and being underwater, helpless, I was terrified and never entered that stage for a long time. And when I entered Dire, Dire Dock, my nerves got the best of me, and I stopped playing at that point for years.
To make matters worse, a lot of game I owned for the N64 I had trouble beating, mainly because of the trauma. In Banjo-Tooie, I couldn't get past Jolly Rogers because 95% of the stage was underwater. And when I saw those anemone-like creatures my fears began to take over, and I stopped playing at that point too.
I was definitely fortunate to play Tooie at a point when I'm experienced enough to not be scared of literally everything that's underwater. Not that I was fearleas then, but I did pull my weight well enough.
@@CountShaman And I was about 4-6 when those clams traumatized me.
There is a good ending. I managed to get over my fears and explore the level and managed and collected all seven Stars in Jolly Rogers Bay. And even travel through Jolly Rogers in Banjo-Tooie and continue with the game.
