I wish, and I PRAY that we can see more Dark Magic utilization in the future like they did in the GBA games. The corruption and draining of emotions from the caster, leaving them as a husk and depriving them of the very reasons and spurnings for why they needed their power. Nergal and Bramimond both need a round of applause for the incredible work they've done as a villain and an example of such power.

16:47 Yeah despite me being an Edelgard supporter and thinking of her worst more as an anti-villainess rather than an outright villainess, if there's probably one thing FE fans and I can agree on, it's that Mad King Ashnard is far, far, far worse than her. After all, unlike El, he more or less plotted to have the entire world reset so he can build his own one.
And if both Edelgard and Rhea make next week's list, hoo boy may things get interesting! Even as an Edelgard supporter and Rhea opposer (not necessarily hater though, for I have complicated feelings on Rhea like with Akechi from Persona 5 Royal), I have some intrigue for their overview next week even if I end up having some disagreements on their "villainy" and villainess status.

    Hey Count Shaman,
I’ve replayed the entire series and this is my personal top 10:
10: Gharnef (He had a backup plan after losing the war)
9: Ashnard (There’s a method to his madness which IMO is the most intimidating about him)
8: Nergal (If his backstory was handled better he would be higher)
7: Travant (The fact he remained independent is another impressive feat of him)
6: Zephiel (He’s an awesome foil to Roy, plus he accounted his death into his plan)
5: Edelgard/Rhea (Bit of a copout, but seeing how they mirror each other it fits.
4: Sephiran (I can’t hate him because genocide would make anyone snap)
3: Berkut (Ian Sinclair's performance deserves to be mentioned, simply amazing)
2: Lyon (IMO he does the corruption by dark magic better than Nergal, plus we still see his kind self)
1: Zelgius/The Black Knight (He changes the game from a strategy into a survival game, plus he’s the reason why Ike became the hero Tellius needed)

Best thing about Raydrik and Lekain is their HUGELY interesting versions of the rarely used much JIOL archetype! Best on the GREEDY POS King of Gra, Marth's kingdom's neighbor and ally who turned on Marth's kingdom, had a hand in Marth's father Cornelius demise and why Marth ran to Caeda kingdom before the Shadow Dragon's plot begins, but is minor in the large SCHEME of things, especially in the villains alliance despite his help in cementing their near final victory in securing Falchion. Even before his demise, he's whining about being the BUTT MONKEY in the Dohr Alliance and dies a coward, Lang in Mystery/New Mystery was a Jiol who lasted more then one chapter in establishing himself as a PURE Evil example of the entitled Noble Class Villain. But Raydrik is essentially what would happened had Jiol NOT lost Marth and continued to hound him for years, instead of Marth being safe with Caeda till he was prepared to counterattack Dohl and it's allies and he only had to WAIT for his deserved end! Raydrik hunts Leif relentlessly, giving him NO reprise to truly rest, note how Leif is compared to Marth. Especially Base Stats! Good story telling there on Marth having a place to relax, and train to prepare (like Seliph) and Leif not having much time to truly train and recover (Miranda's kingdom's fate when the Empire catches up to Leif in his past is an illustration of what would have happened if Dohr had realized Marth was in Talys (From it's Lore a Kingdom that JUST sprung up and was a minor ally of Altea, Marth's Kingdom. So Minor no one thought Marth could be hiding in Altea ONE FUCKING ALLY!) they got CURBSTOMPED and Leif is on the run AGAIN! Unlike Marth who TOOK THE FIGHT TO Dohr prepared and just around the Time Hardin's rebellion was getting steam. Leif is on the run ALOT and that makes Raydrik a more THREATENING Jiol as by the time Jiol came back into the plot, Marth had an Army to easily SMASH his army, compared to the made Prologue in Shadow Dragon Remake where all he had was Three Knights, a Veteran and some Archer he saved on the way that ONE had to sacrifice themselves to throw Jiol off! The man captures Leif and Co, does some FUCKED UP shit to Mareeta and causes Eyvel/Brigid to get turned to stone! Made it GREAT when you can FINALLY stop running and take the fight to him. In the end for all his BRAVADO, he's a coward to the very end, even using a MAGICAL SWORD that protects him and when cornered, cries to VELD to save him, when it was CLEAR he was ALWAYS meant to be a Dreadlord candidate (along with Leif's MAJOR Companions if you aren't careful!) so he had WAY more impact then Jiol and Lang ever did!
Now LEKAIN, the fact this dude is ultimently responsibile for the Major Conflict the Tellius series is build on was interesting! Not the main mastermind of the REAL plan in the end, that was Lehran/Sephiran (Seriously why isn't he on your LIST, Lehran in my opinion was the BEST Gharnef in the series, even Rhea is a evolution on his character! They played him as FAR more tragic like Lyon who ironically is the Gharnef, Hardin AND Medeus of his game by virtue of Fomortiis being in his body. Though he also has Rudolf because he admits to Ephraim that you can't blame the entire affair of Sacred Stones completely on Fomortiis. Specifically both are long lived beings that once had HOPE, but ALOT of Trauma that they REALLY needed to see a Therapist frankly BROKE them, in Lehran's case, he gave up) but Lehran ONLY did what he did BECAUSE Lekain was SO Evil, SO Greedy, he caused the death of the LAST person he cared for, his Descendant the Previous Apostle and Empress (Micaiah and Sanaki Grandmother) and successfully FRAMED his people the Herons for it, causing their NEAR genocide. All for MORE personal Power and to protect his established power. The act so VILE to Lehran's REMAINING sanity that he gave up, and decided EVERYONE failed the Goddess test, and worked to awaken her in VIOLATION of the promise so she'd kill EVERYONE. A thing with the Gharnef's is that they were once GOOD MEN before they fail to evil and the Dark side made them forget (Gharef with the Darkstone and his OWN insecurities involving his old rival and their teacher Gotoh. Jedah with his zealotness to Duma, Manfroy giving UP on peaceful co-existance and deciding to revive Loptous out of Pure SPITE, and Nergal being the Example Niime and her son Canas WARNED about when dealing with the Series stable Dark/Elder Magic, in that if you stare into the abyss it looks back and takes something important away). Lekain acts like he's the one in charge, but Lehran played him for a fool, likely as one last diss to the bastard by letting him THINK he manipulated a war that could see him RULE all of Tellius, but instead it would have been his END along with everyone had Yune not interefered at the last second to Save the main characters! And even then REVIVED ONLY because he was a useful figurehead for "Ashera CHOSEN" a man so WICKED and arrogant he thought he was CHOSEN by the goddess and his sins were absolved when his punishment was ONLY abstained till Yune's allies were killed or the NEXT Judgement was made where he and the others would NOT survive as they were not needed at that point. The best part was it was IKE who damaged his ego the most, by pointing out in the end what even HE knew deep down, that he was NOT in control, that he was NEVER important, that HE was the throw away pawn, and all by a DIRTY COMMONER MERCENARY HE LOOKED DOWN UPON (Hell even his OWN Camus fucking abandoned him for Zelgius/BK when he had ENOUGH of working under such a VILE snake of a Master) for a man who believed he'd be remembered in the history books, he wasn't even MUCH of a FOOT NOTE in the "Legend of the Radiant Hero & Silver-Haired Maiden" LOL. These are the villains I like and why I like the Jiol and Kempf archetypes, just HATEABLE villains that your suppose to hate for the RIGHT reasons! Not even a Michalis who are meant to be jerkasses as well, but unlike those two types who are OUT for themselves. They actually have NOBLE reasoning behind their actions and end goals which make them GOOD foils to the Camus, they are similar to the Lorenz in that they have NO illusions their on the bad guy side (On Engage, found it funny with Griss, how he comes OFF as a Kempf, but ultimently he IS a Michalis as he's doing what he's doing out of LOYALITY to Zephia, even to his doom. One thing with a Michalis is that they DO have a Noble reason) which is why Travent was the BEST Michalis I can think of other then Berkut and why I love that Archetype alongside the.. Too bad Kempf's LAST representives was Kronya (who really gets more TIME in 3Hopes then she did in 3Houses) and Hans & Iago (two WASTE of character archetypes, I still feel Iago would have made an INTERESTING Gharnef LIGHT type of character, and Hans would have been a DIFFERENT flavor of my FAVORITE Kempf of the series, Caellach from Sacred Stones. Loved that guy as he was a GOOD representative of an Antagonist Mercenary villain, unlike the HONERABLE Mercs like Ike, Greil basically ALL the Ogma's, the Man was an EVIL Ogma in that he fought for his own goals, He's basically Jesse from Shadows of Valentia but EVIL in that BOTH want to make their own Kingdom and have the drive AND skill to make it happen, but Caellach will do ANYTHING no matter HOW to get it done! Hans had the SPIRIT, but got screwed by the writing) Sad

@@CountShaman Fair, to be fair, Ashnard MAJORLY suffers Medeus Syndrome despite being "The Rudolf" in that ALOT of his character and motivations are DUMPED on you in the final chapter, would have been nice if he started appearing more often in the mid game up to Late game (but not too much to devalue) to get more out of him, But Lekain is showing acting ALOT more and appearing ALOT to warrent him having "Better character overall"
And Deghinsea ALSO suffers the same, His screentime is pretty much "Goldea is NEUTRAL" and you only get his character and motivation "just like Ashnard" IN THE CHAPTER YOU FIGHT AND KILL HIM IN! Not to say he's not interesting, but Lehran at least has MORE screen time and stuff going for him for him to have his spot!
