For me best from X7 would be Splash Warfly but that isn't saying much as he's still borderline mediocre but I'll give credit he didn't royally suck as a boss fight plus he gives Zero the only way of shutting up Flame Ear-Rape that isn't the mute button. And yes worst Flame Ear-Rape.
I actually dislike Snipe Anteator a bit more because the Japanese voice acting makes Hyenard tolerable. Anteator has a really disorienting stage inverting your view and controls half the time. And given how the floor is made up of blue hexagons that all look the same except that some are orange, it makes the experience even more unpleasant. The background is not even interesting, just being a literal blue screen of death. Anteator himself can be annoying or easy, depending on whether or not you are dealing with his drones. And all that for a single shot missile that doesn't even explode. Talk about a snipe hunt.
Well I'll guess I can give my favorite and least favorites mavericks. Starting with the best. X1: Storm Eagle: Very epic battle, awesome stage, and a pretty awesome weapon you get from him. X2: Flame Stag: I honestly like this boss and his stage is fun with a pretty fun soundtrack. His weapon is fun too especially charged up by turning x into a living fireball. X3: Volt Catfish: Yeah. He's basically the only maverick I find good as well. Plus I love his tri thunder weapon a lot. X4: Magma Dragoon: He's a humanoid dragon boss with street fighter moves. Enough said. He's a badass. X5: Spiral Pegasus: He's challenging yes but like storm eagle his fight is memorable and epic. Plus it's interesting how he is one of the remaining repliforce members. X6:............Um........well........uh..... Yammark I guess. He's the only fight I enjoyed without me getting frustrated and was fun. X7: Splash Warfly: I have to agree with quarter guy. He's honestly a solid boss fight to a pretty awful game. X8: Dark Mantis: I love his voice, battle and weapon so much. This is how you do a pretty awesome insect maverick.
Most favorite Maverick Blizzard Wolfang from X6 basically while yes his stage is annoying as heck "Hello Ice Physics I didn't miss you at all" he makes up for that in several ways awesome boss theme check, awesome design check, awesome fight check, awesome weapons for both X, and Zero check, so yeah while he does have a annoying stage he more then makes up for it by getting everything else right. As for my most hated Maverick it's Flame Ear-Rape from X7 for reasons we all already know.
This was a very interesting and fun video. I like the fact that you're actually explaining why you don't like certain Mavericks and that it doesn't just feel like ranting for laughs. For example, I quite liked Blast Hornet but I can also understand why you didn't. Also, thank you for giving a positive shoutout to Metal Shark Player, who I feel is very underrated Maverick (seriously, his stage is not even that difficult if you take it slowly instead of just rushing through it). Also, I like to think that Crescent Grizzly is a parody character, composed entirely of all things that make for a bad boss: silly design, boring stage and pathetic fight. At least I hope that's what he is, because otherwise I don't understand how did they fuck up grizzly based Maverick so bad.
Steel is rusted by water. Anchors are very prone to rusting because the sea is one of the worst places to have steel in, due to chlorides causing the corrosion phenomenon called pitting.
This was an excellent list. I enjoyed how you went in detail on each Maverick, and I love how the choices felt unique. The takes (aside from maybe Magma Dragoon, all felt fresh!) In particular, I say thank you for giving Morph Moth some love, he’s criminally underrated!

I don't think it's nice to rip on Hyenard. He'd be really bad if he wasn't in X7... But the same game has not one, not two, not three, but FOUR stinkers that make him look OK: at least his stage is nothing special but nothing that bad either, his design is honestly pretty cool, and the weapon is nice. So who are the four criminals that overthrew him as the absolute kings of shit? Their names are Vanishing Gungaroo, Snipe Anteator, Ride Boarski and Tornado fuckin' Tonion! If I had to make a worst Mavericks list, I couldn't put Hyenard in it, as the boar, the anteater, the kangaroo and the freakin' ONION basically hold absolute sovereignty over the first four position.
Also, I think my favorite in X1 is Launch Octopus, in X4 is Jet Stingray (and even Storm Owl is better than Magma Dragoon), and X6 is BY FAR Infinity Mijinion. I have very unpopular opinions.
Sad part is for blast is he got screwed over by zero, as zero was supposed to go to doppler town to investigate what was going on, but figured to send the other intelligence officer of his unit to do it. his drones are mostly used for spying,, and precision detonation. But i never notice how empty the stages were cause i'm runnning through through them but it seems that X3 was notorious for this. Blast is only maverick due to taking orders to go in Zeroe's stead.
If you do Gravity Beetle first, Blast Hornet's stage gets emptied out (more), since Beetle controls an airship fleet, but it could also be that Capcom needed to pad out the playtime and they did that with... empty space. Then again it also seems to be a warehouse complex, so there wouldn't be all that much to attack in the first place.
And now my worst list. X1: Flame Mammoth: Slow, doesn't do much, and pretty pathetic. His weapon is decent at least X2: Wheel Gator: A real pain and very slow and tedious fight. I can even beat crystal snail faster than wheel gator. X3: Neon Tiger: Out of all the bosses I was hoping this to be cool and fun since you're fighting a tiger. It's not. It's pretty lackluster like many of the fights in the game. X4: Frost Walrus: I honestly don't hate any of the bosses in the game. It's just walrus isn't as great as the others since he suffers from EGSBS (Easy Giant Slow Boss Syndrome). X5: Duff Mcwhalen: By far the most tedious stage in the game because it takes forever and the boss doesn't have much to it. He just pushes you towards walls and spikes with his ice blocks. Okay. 🤷 X6: Everyone that isn't Yammark! I kid. I kid. Ground Scaravich. You know capcom hit the bottom of the barrel when they made a dung beetle as a boss. A pitiful name and a pitiful fight. (Well just about all of the bosses are pitiful and grueling with unfair difficulty) X7: Guess. No really guess. X8: Gigabolt Man o war: Yeah I agree. He's the worst in X8. Stage, voice, battle and all.
I find Hyenard OK, the stage is decent (by X7 standard), the design is rather cool, and the weapon is nice. Boarski has the same voice acting problem and a terrible stage. Gungaroo and Anteator are also even worse than Hyenard. Tonion is the worst ever, periodt.

My favorite in X6 is Mijinion. He's so underrated: not only is he a tardigrade, one of the most fascinating animals ever (lions, sharks and eagles are too mainstream), but his stage is frantic and really keeps you on your toes, the music rocks, the weapons are cool (especially Zero's one) and the fight is intense.

Thanks for not picking sponge from X2 for worst, it would have been too obvious and it's really common for people to make a huge deal about how dumb his name is or concept is, but no one seems to look up what his original name is. Yeah a "Sponge" would be a really dumb boss idea, but he's supposed to be one of those large jungle flower plants, you know like Vileplume from Pokémon? The translator just didn't even try to give him an accurate name. Kind of annoying that I see people try to use that as an weak example as why they think X2 isn't that good, as if all the bosses are worse than the other games or uninspired, and I disagree with that.
I don't particularly like Wire Sponge mainly for his slow boss fight. But as far as bad mavericks go, he wasn't that atrocious imo. I kinda like his design though for the exoticness of it. I guess I prefer the weird more than the bland standard, which is why Optic Sunflower doesn't appeal to me whatsoever no matter how hard they try to make him look sleek.

Now it's time for the worst of the worst... (going from best to worst) Worst Mavericks: 8. Neon Tiger (X3) With a great roster X3 had, Neon Tiger unfortunately had to take the fall. It's design is ferocious, but everything else just bores me. The weapon's cool, though... 7. *flame shield* Storm Owl (X4) Yeah, I don't like Storm Owl. Although, to its credit, it's the case of every other Maverick being better in X4 than him(?) One problem I have, though, is the stage... Dear God, that wasn't pleasant 6. Crescent Grizzly aka Grizzly Slash (X5) Think of him as Neon Tiger, except even more of a slug. There, he is boring. Let's move on. 5. Optic Sunflower (X8) What would've originally been much higher, but over time Sunflower grew on me a little bit. The design is atrocious and so are the weapons, but the minigame-like structure of his stage surprised me in a good way. Fun Fact: If you have the data from Command Mission, you can fight Cut Man in the stage. 4. Crystal Snail (X2) Uuhhhhhhh... ANOTHER boring Maverick? Come on... *zzzzzzzz* 3. Snipe Anteator (X7) Oh boy... I'm gonna get hate for this. If you exclude the ear-graining VA, Flame Hyenard isn't that bad in my opinion. Probably because I knew about it beforehand and have a weird liking to *MOST* annoying one-liners in gaming (*ahem* Disciple Lorithia *ahem*), but no, Hyenard is not the worst. Especially when in the same game, they create a Maverick with a frustrating stage and fight (and misspelling his name for good measure) 2. Also did a couple “it’s expensive but is it good?” episodes for X3 and MM5… but the ones doing the best are the compare & contrast of wily wars 1, 2, and 3 with NES originals. Really cool to hear and see all those differences between nes and 16bit sega! I’m looking forward to seeing more of yours
Unpopular opinion: Magma Dragoon is cool, but Jet Stingray and Storm Owl are better. Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of the fire element, and because I'm not a Street Fighter fan.
Never expected anyone to also like Metal Shark Player (also my favorite maverick in X6). Another fact about his fight, in Xtreme difficulty (I have played it, should no one else experience it for it was insanity incarnate) he can summon Blast Hornet in his desperation attack, just something to point out.

I honestly don't understand the wave of people calling Heatnix the worst in X6. Sure, that stage sucks but so does Scaravitch's stage, which unlike Heatnix, doesn't even have a very good stage theme and is also RNG reliant. Heatnix also gives a pretty good weapon, something that can't be said AT ALL for Scaravitch's. His zero skill in particular could actually fuck you over.

Best Mavericks: X1 - Armored Armadillo - Incredibly fun Stage, useful weapon and HADOKEN X2 - Overdrive Ostrich - Fun everything: Stage, Fight, Weapon, even Music X3 - Crush Crawfish - Kickass design and weapon X4 - Magma Dragoon - Nuff said X5 - Dark Necrobat/Dizzy - Probably my favourite Maverick in the series in general; I love me some bat creatures X6 - Rainy Turtloid - Yeah, I hate X6, but Turtloid is probably the best, or should I say, less shittiest boss in this game. The Japanese esthatic makes this Maverick a little more bearable than the rest. X7 - Ride Boarski - It's... a guilty pleasure for me. Design IS stupid and weapon IS useless, but, come on, I just chuckle whenever this guy speaks. Also, underrated Ride Chaser level. X8 - Avalanche Yeti - Another RC level. And this one is probably the best. He also has some of the coolest weapons in X8. Pun entirely intended. Worst Mavericks in another comment

some of these mavericks are actually ladies. as for Blast Hornet's weapon it works best when there's other enemies on the screen, because the bomb will hurl anything you shoot with it (if they're light enough) into another enemy. Honestly the Ride Armors were underutilized to a criminal degree. Don't give us a mech suit and then nothing to do with it, Capcom! X3 is the worst because you get FOUR of them and they're never worth actually taking out for a ride! And the Frog is so situational that there's no point picking up the module for anything other than 100% completion!
We know Flame Hyenard would be a lock in for the worst list cause of his English acting alone, which is why I always advocate playing X7 with Japanese voice acting. I mean, obviously. But even good Japanese VAs couldn't fix Snipe Anteator, which would probably be my pick for the worst X7 boss. At least Hyenard or even Tornado Tonion didn't have the annoying inverted view gimmick in an already badly designed maze. Gives "Snipe Hunt" a whole new meaning. And when you get to him, he'll send out a few drones that can be annoying to dodge and can't be locked on to, but that's the only threat he poses, since whatever attacks he himself has hardly qualify as attacks. And don't think you're rewarded anything worthwhile for it. Even MegaQuint knew the Sniper Missile (man, that couldn't be more of an oxymoron if it tried, could it? Emphasis on "moron.") was Wind Crowrang's weakness and still just opted to blast it with the energy pea shooter. And given how you can only fire 8 of them and only one can be on screen at a time, (unless you charge it for three missiles) I can understand why. The missiles don't even explode. What kind of missiles don't do that?? If there is one... decent Maverick in X7, it's probably Splash Warfly. At the least it is not as painful, and the part where you blow up a battleship and make it into an arena is pretty cool.
I'm wondering on sting chameleon why you don't just avoid all of those problems by using the scissors you literally render him useless. Every boss in the game for the most part has one single trick you could use to just bug the AI. You could just make the chameleon jump left to right by shooting scissors left and right
I try to not factor in weakness weapons and judge the bosses for what they are firsthand. If I factor that in, every boss in the game are virtually the same.
i only played mega man X8 16 Bit and not the original Mega man X8 and the creator(s) made it atleast visualy better then X8, and also, WHO FOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE STING CHAMELEON'S WEAKNESS THE BOOMERANG CUTTER!?!? It's normaly hard to shoot him even 1 time with the X buster but it's beraly possible with the boomerang cutter

This was a very interesting and fun video. I like the fact that you're actually explaining why you don't like certain Mavericks and that it doesn't just feel like ranting for laughs. For example, I quite liked Blast Hornet but I can also understand why you didn't. Also, thank you for giving a positive shoutout to Metal Shark Player, who I feel is very underrated Maverick (seriously, his stage is not even that difficult if you take it slowly instead of just rushing through it).
Also, I like to think that Crescent Grizzly is a parody character, composed entirely of all things that make for a bad boss: silly design, boring stage and pathetic fight. At least I hope that's what he is, because otherwise I don't understand how did they fuck up grizzly based Maverick so bad.
Nah Metal Shark Player for me is the worse X6 level. It's essentially a wait-it-out auto-scroller, and that gets boring quick.

Steel is rusted by water. Anchors are very prone to rusting because the sea is one of the worst places to have steel in, due to chlorides causing the corrosion phenomenon called pitting.
This was an excellent list. I enjoyed how you went in detail on each Maverick, and I love how the choices felt unique. The takes (aside from maybe Magma Dragoon, all felt fresh!) In particular, I say thank you for giving Morph Moth some love, he’s criminally underrated!

I always go to hin first because he is badass. I just wanna take him down with minimum upgrades so he could pose more threat than usual.
He's playable now too...in a mobile game that SHOULD BE ON ACTUAL GAMING SOFTWARE.
Sad part is for blast is he got screwed over by zero, as zero was supposed to go to doppler town to investigate what was going on, but figured to send the other intelligence officer of his unit to do it. his drones are mostly used for spying,, and precision detonation. But i never notice how empty the stages were cause i'm runnning through through them but it seems that X3 was notorious for this. Blast is only maverick due to taking orders to go in Zeroe's stead.
If you do Gravity Beetle first, Blast Hornet's stage gets emptied out (more), since Beetle controls an airship fleet, but it could also be that Capcom needed to pad out the playtime and they did that with... empty space. Then again it also seems to be a warehouse complex, so there wouldn't be all that much to attack in the first place.
And now my worst list.
X1: Flame Mammoth: Slow, doesn't do much, and pretty pathetic. His weapon is decent at least
X2: Wheel Gator: A real pain and very slow and tedious fight. I can even beat crystal snail faster than wheel gator.
X3: Neon Tiger: Out of all the bosses I was hoping this to be cool and fun since you're fighting a tiger. It's not. It's pretty lackluster like many of the fights in the game.
X4: Frost Walrus: I honestly don't hate any of the bosses in the game. It's just walrus isn't as great as the others since he suffers from EGSBS (Easy Giant Slow Boss Syndrome).
X5: Duff Mcwhalen: By far the most tedious stage in the game because it takes forever and the boss doesn't have much to it. He just pushes you towards walls and spikes with his ice blocks. Okay. 🤷
X6: Everyone that isn't Yammark! I kid. I kid. Ground Scaravich. You know capcom hit the bottom of the barrel when they made a dung beetle as a boss. A pitiful name and a pitiful fight. (Well just about all of the bosses are pitiful and grueling with unfair difficulty)
X7: Guess. No really guess.
X8: Gigabolt Man o war: Yeah I agree. He's the worst in X8. Stage, voice, battle and all.
I like your choices on both sides. And yeah, to think that Hollow Knight beat X6 by making a good poop beetle character a decade and a half later.
I find Hyenard OK, the stage is decent (by X7 standard), the design is rather cool, and the weapon is nice. Boarski has the same voice acting problem and a terrible stage. Gungaroo and Anteator are also even worse than Hyenard. Tonion is the worst ever, periodt.

I like Metal Shark Player too. He's not my favorite of the bunch, that goes to Yanmark, but he's a good one. I did not know about his charge up power.
My favorite in X6 is Mijinion. He's so underrated: not only is he a tardigrade, one of the most fascinating animals ever (lions, sharks and eagles are too mainstream), but his stage is frantic and really keeps you on your toes, the music rocks, the weapons are cool (especially Zero's one) and the fight is intense.

Thanks for not picking sponge from X2 for worst, it would have been too obvious and it's really common for people to make a huge deal about how dumb his name is or concept is, but no one seems to look up what his original name is.
Yeah a "Sponge" would be a really dumb boss idea, but he's supposed to be one of those large jungle flower plants, you know like Vileplume from Pokémon? The translator just didn't even try to give him an accurate name.
Kind of annoying that I see people try to use that as an weak example as why they think X2 isn't that good, as if all the bosses are worse than the other games or uninspired, and I disagree with that.
I don't particularly like Wire Sponge mainly for his slow boss fight. But as far as bad mavericks go, he wasn't that atrocious imo.
I kinda like his design though for the exoticness of it. I guess I prefer the weird more than the bland standard, which is why Optic Sunflower doesn't appeal to me whatsoever no matter how hard they try to make him look sleek.

With a great roster X3 had, Neon Tiger unfortunately had to take the fall. It's design is ferocious, but everything else just bores me. The weapon's cool, though...

Yeah, I don't like Storm Owl. Although, to its credit, it's the case of every other Maverick being better in X4 than him(?) One problem I have, though, is the stage... Dear God, that wasn't pleasant
6. Crescent Grizzly aka Grizzly Slash (X5)
Think of him as Neon Tiger, except even more of a slug. There, he is boring. Let's move on.
5. Optic Sunflower (X8)
What would've originally been much higher, but over time Sunflower grew on me a little bit. The design is atrocious and so are the weapons, but the minigame-like structure of his stage surprised me in a good way.
Fun Fact: If you have the data from Command Mission, you can fight Cut Man in the stage.
4. Crystal Snail (X2)
Uuhhhhhhh... ANOTHER boring Maverick? Come on... *zzzzzzzz*
3. Snipe Anteator (X7)
Oh boy... I'm gonna get hate for this. If you exclude the ear-graining VA, Flame Hyenard isn't that bad in my opinion. Probably because I knew about it beforehand and have a weird liking to *MOST* annoying one-liners in gaming (*ahem* Disciple Lorithia *ahem*), but no, Hyenard is not the worst. Especially when in the same game, they create a Maverick with a frustrating stage and fight (and misspelling his name for good measure)

Unpopular opinion: Magma Dragoon is cool, but Jet Stingray and Storm Owl are better. Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of the fire element, and because I'm not a Street Fighter fan.
I personally don't care about the street fighter refs either. My bias for him came from growing up playing Virus Mission on Newgrounds.

I honestly don't understand the wave of people calling Heatnix the worst in X6. Sure, that stage sucks but so does Scaravitch's stage, which unlike Heatnix, doesn't even have a very good stage theme and is also RNG reliant. Heatnix also gives a pretty good weapon, something that can't be said AT ALL for Scaravitch's. His zero skill in particular could actually fuck you over.

X8 - Avalanche Yeti - Another RC level. And this one is probably the best. He also has some of the coolest weapons in X8. Pun entirely intended.

as for Blast Hornet's weapon it works best when there's other enemies on the screen, because the bomb will hurl anything you shoot with it (if they're light enough) into another enemy.
Honestly the Ride Armors were underutilized to a criminal degree. Don't give us a mech suit and then nothing to do with it, Capcom! X3 is the worst because you get FOUR of them and they're never worth actually taking out for a ride! And the Frog is so situational that there's no point picking up the module for anything other than 100% completion!

We know Flame Hyenard would be a lock in for the worst list cause of his English acting alone, which is why I always advocate playing X7 with Japanese voice acting. I mean, obviously. But even good Japanese VAs couldn't fix Snipe Anteator, which would probably be my pick for the worst X7 boss. At least Hyenard or even Tornado Tonion didn't have the annoying inverted view gimmick in an already badly designed maze. Gives "Snipe Hunt" a whole new meaning. And when you get to him, he'll send out a few drones that can be annoying to dodge and can't be locked on to, but that's the only threat he poses, since whatever attacks he himself has hardly qualify as attacks. And don't think you're rewarded anything worthwhile for it. Even MegaQuint knew the Sniper Missile (man, that couldn't be more of an oxymoron if it tried, could it? Emphasis on "moron.") was Wind Crowrang's weakness and still just opted to blast it with the energy pea shooter. And given how you can only fire 8 of them and only one can be on screen at a time, (unless you charge it for three missiles) I can understand why. The missiles don't even explode. What kind of missiles don't do that?? If there is one... decent Maverick in X7, it's probably Splash Warfly. At the least it is not as painful, and the part where you blow up a battleship and make it into an arena is pretty cool.
Did you seriously just say X-treme isn't canon? Both games are canon to the series timeline
I'm wondering on sting chameleon why you don't just avoid all of those problems by using the scissors you literally render him useless. Every boss in the game for the most part has one single trick you could use to just bug the AI. You could just make the chameleon jump left to right by shooting scissors left and right
I try to not factor in weakness weapons and judge the bosses for what they are firsthand. If I factor that in, every boss in the game are virtually the same.

i only played mega man X8 16 Bit and not the original Mega man X8 and the creator(s) made it atleast visualy better then X8, and also, WHO FOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE STING CHAMELEON'S WEAKNESS THE BOOMERANG CUTTER!?!? It's normaly hard to shoot him even 1 time with the X buster but it's beraly possible with the boomerang cutter
But Wheel Gator is one of my favorites though
