    Really well made and informative video, but like others have commented, I'm having a heck of a time getting the new fuel filter to sit flush in the bottom of the tank. I'm pulling hard on the fuel line on the bottom of the tank, but am afraid of breaking it. Do you have any tricks for getting that thing to sit properly?
    Thanks again for sharing your video.

    @Em1nenceFr0nt It sounds like the muffler may be plugged with carbon and unburnt oil. Try removing the the spark arrestor screen from the muffler and cleaning it with a propane torch. If the muffler itself looks to be clogged you can usually also clean it out with the torch. If cleaning the muffler doesn't help then the problem is likely still with the carburetor. You may want to take a look at our carburetor cleaning video.
    Thanks!

    Also, I wished you could have showed a camera shot of how the filter fit down in the gas tank. Your hand made a poor gas tank model.

    The item which you refer to as an inline connector or splice is a check valve or one-way valve.

    @sarah2007hood Try replacing the lines from the outside of the tank to the inside. Push the line through (from the outside) until it can be caught by a hook or something on the inside. Pull it through the fill opening. Replace the filter. Then pull the line back from the outside so that the filter seats itself in the proper location. This works for most trimmer fuel tanks that aren't designed with user-friendly fuel line replacement in mind. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    I came looking for a video like this because I have very nearly the same weedeater (Craftsman brand) that is nearly identical to the gas tank/primer bulb/carbureator configuration. The problem I have is that I can't get the fuel filter back through the hole in the gas tank after I snake the new fuel line into the tank. It appears that the fuel line should fully engage all the teeth/ribs on the fuel filter (up to the spongey filter piece), but then when I pull the line/filter back into the tank, I can neither get my fingers on the filter, nor pull the filter/line into the hole, because it is too tight. The fuel line I'm using is the same size (by appearance and apparent fit) through the hole in the tank, but it's too tight coming back to get the filter seated securely.
    Not sure what tricks would fix this, but this is my current sticking point.

      Scott, I had a similar problem, I ended up using a brake spoon. to press down on the filter. ( a brake spoon is used on cars to adjust the old drum based shoes on cars. it has two ends shaped like screw drivers one end is straight and the other is bent about 75 degrees. The bent end is the end I used to push down the filter with. good luck

      Hi, I came across an article that said to feed a fine wire through the fuel line , hook the end and feed it through the hole in the gas tank, attach the fuel filter and pull back through the tank. My problem is I don't know how long to make the lines.

    Could somebody please tell me the line sizes for Ryobi 700r. Will the standard size 3/32"I.D. and 3/16" O.D. fit all hoses, including primer hoses (hose to the carburetor, return fuel line and fuel line)? Thank you very much.

    Cool video, however i think the you should have the filter hanging inside rather than attached to the side of the tank, you need that in case you tilt the machine then the filter will be immersed inside the gas.

    I would buy a piece of two foot fuel line and run it from the outside of the tank, through the gas fill opening.....put the fuel filter on it and pull it back in half way so the filter rests on the bottom of the tank. Measure or guestimate how much you will need to route it and snip. All thats left to do is mount the fuel tank and fill and your done. At least thats what I did.

    Great video. Steps were good & very helpful since all my fuel lines broke before making notes. My weed-eater is a Craftsman Convertible 31cc 15" Model # 316790101....(Manufactured by Ryobi). Purchased the "Ryobi Primer Bulb & Fuel Line Kit" Model # AC04122 @ Home Depot, which is: •Compatible with Ryobi and Homelite products with 25cc, 30cc, and 26cc engines •Kit includes a fuel line, a return line, a fuel filter and a primer bulb •Includes an installation tool and an operator's manual. I purchased my weed-eater in 1999. Worn fuel lines are the only problem I've had after 15 years. I've kept it clean, and taken good care of it. Noticed the Made In U.S.A. sticker on it, runs like a champ!. Thanks for the step by step video.

    Try squirting a little starter fluid towards the back of the carb. If it sounds better, you may have an air leak around your gasket. Junk the gasket and apply a little gasket sealer to the back of the carb, worked for me.

      Believe it or not I think that is what most people do. That is the point of these videos to help us out and save tons of money. I tried and begged for a young gal to not purchase a battery powered 18v trimmer at HDepot the other day but she bought it anyway ugh. I told her to pray before she used it. They did have the 40 volt and another one with 56 volts and I can't comment on them because I have never used one with that big of a battery. I have been able to fix tons of stuff with you tube as a resource and it does save money. Gppd luck with your new one.

  • @Average_Libtard
    @Average_Libtard 9 лет назад +1

    I'm hoping someone might help me with my problem. It doesn't exactly need to be replaced I don't think but I have almost no experience with lawn care and even less experience with the mechanics of equipment like this. I noticed today on my trimmer that (what I believe to be) the return line is lose at the point where it meets the fuel tank. It moves freely in and out but it doesn't come completely out. The problem is if I don't hold it in the right angle gas flows pretty freely through the gap around the return line and the hole in the tank. I was wondering if this is normal or if there is something I can do to seal that gap and make sure it doesn't leak. I don't have much in the way of tools or spare parts and this may sound stupid so go easy on me, as I said I don't really know the do's and don'ts yet, but I had the idea to hot glue around the return line where it meets the tank to seal that gap. I figured this might be a possible temporary fix. I don't really know how hot that area gets when in use, if it would just melt the glue away. I would love to get some help with this. Specifically a cheap, quick fix that would keep my fuel from leaking.
