I learned a lot from this, probably more than I have learned from watching a dozen other videos about elk hunting. Thanks for the info, and the commons sense, I'm a whitetail and turkey hunter going west for the first time next month, can't wait !
I'm also a whitetail/turkey guy from Va. Wanting to head west for a muley or elk hunt. Did you make it out west last year? How did it go? Any tips etc?
@@2michaelgilbert I went to Colorado in 2018, spent 15 days hunting but did not kill an elk. Headed to Idaho this September to hunt some different ground, looking forward to it. I would say, stay mobile, don't be married to a spot if the elk aren't there, keep moving until you find them

Currently watching this video, as of the date of my comment ,the state of Colorado has now required that hunters be in possession of a "qualifying" license (e.g. non-resident spring turkey, non-resident small game, resident combination fishing) to apply. This is now an additional cost that hunters are to consider for Colorado (not including the increases to tags that have taken place).
In addition, any person (e.g. hiker, water user) entering a Colorado State Park lands needs to have a hunting or fishing license.
These costs have started to appear depending on the land you use.
Ryan Carter is straight cool I would love to hunt with him some day He is very humble.
I could listen to Ryan talk elk all day long, not gonna lie.
I really enjoyed watching. Your perspective is so different from what else I see on here. I am a meat hunter. But I am not a spike hunter. Don't get me wrong im not against it. I just think its like catching a little fish. Let him grow. But if you are hungry by all means eat. I don't like licenses that limit me from making my own mind.
Troy Westerbur ~ Thanks Troy. I’m all about allowing hunters to decide for themselves what their hunt will be-only thing I ask is that we respect the life we take and we do our best to support game management objectives. Sometimes I want to shoot a spike-sometimes I want a mature herd bull. And sometimes I want to hunt with a bow and sometimes I want to hunt with a rifle-it’s my hunt; it’s personal. And I respect the rights of others to choose what they want.
Brian Call: Gritty i couldn't agree more. I just wish I could get a license in every season. Not necessarily kill one in every season but if I don't be able to move to the next. Even if that means bow hunting in December.
Not too sound all queer but I could listen to RC talk all the time.
I am so thankful they do not allow trail cams in Montana during seasons.
