I remember playing this on my dads PS3 and just sitting and listening to the loading screen music. Memories. I loved the concrete man level music so much and still do.
Same thing happened when Bowser Jr, disguise as Shadow Mario, made all the ruins of the entire Isle Delfino and then he blame and frame Mario for this.
"Hold up! Doctor Wily, wasn't your VERY FIRST attack done by reprogramming Light's robots?" "Exactly! Do you think someone as brilliant as me would be dumb enough to try the same trick twice? This is CLEARLY that villainous Doctor Light's doing!"
To be fair, the "same ol' same ol'" feeling of Mega Man is sort of the point. You go in knowing exactly what you'll get. I'm fine with that, if I'm Jonesing to play a Mega Man game, then I know the exact formula it'll follow. It's comfortable and familiar, like a pair of old shoes. I enjoyed it, as well as 10. I've played through all the main MM games and the X games up to the PS2 releases (Oi VEY no thanks there). To me, it doesn't really get old. It's still fun after all these years to find the whole rock/paper/scissors way of fighting the bosses and chunking your way through the levels. Is it top notch? No. Is it fun? Hell yeah.
It got old for me back in the day. I loved 4 and remember thinking 5 was alright, but it was too similar. I was even more that way when 6 came out. We rented it, and I played it for about an hour and then didn't touch it again for the weekend. It was just much of the same again and I didn't care at that point. It surprised me when thet feeling came right back the first time I played this one. It's fun, but it can't hold a candle to the first games for me. I did feel like I got my money out of it though. It wasn't $50 like the NES ones were:)

It's amazing how faithful they were to the limits of the NES hardware (except for the scrolling update anomaly on the right hand side of the screen, and maybe some other things). It even has limited sound channels, so when selecting in the menu, you lose some of the music. Brilliant!
Yeah. There was a lot of back&forth during development to try and get it as close to a "real NES game" as possible without, you know, actually making a real NES game(ain't no one got time for raw 6502 assembly!). There are a few flourishes that aren't authentic, and the 8-sprite limit (and associated flicker) is a toggleable option, but... it is dang close.

The big dragon at 24:36 is just about impossible with the mega buster. The issue is you have to concentrate so much on dodging that it’s hard to squeeze in an attack.
1:13:20 -- "This is where you first went wrong." Then he shows Wily every defeat from the numbered NES/SNES series, plus Megaman & Bass (with the most popular Master weapons used). I can look at most of them and tell what brought him to his knees. 1 -- Elec/Thunder Beam (E) 2 -- Bubble Lead (B) 3 -- Top Spin (TO) 4 -- Pharaoh Shot (PH) 5 -- Mega Buster (or Beat) 6 -- Mega Buster? 7 -- Wild Coil (I haven't played 8 past that d@&% Frost Man stage, and haven't played even the GBA Megaman & Bass.)
In megaman 9 its a lot of reference Like: -Get weapon theme (megaman 2) -Wily castle map theme (megaman 2 too) -Splashman stage (Bubble area looks like waveman stage in megaman 5) -Megaman can't slide or charge (like megaman 1,and 2) -and auto say the robot master is scrap well, looks like Magma man is fire man,Splash man is bubble man,Tornado man is air man,Plug man is spark man,Concrete man is Guts man,Galaxy man is Astro man, and Jewel man is crystal man. (Hornet man idk looks like he is new:v) -and twin devil looks like green devil from megaman and bass & megaman 8
HOLD UP! The Concrete Shot freezes the death beams in Wily 1?!?! This blows my friggin' mind! I mean, I FIGURED that a frame-perfect Rush Coil wasn't the right way to get past the room with three in a row, but... it worked?
I wasn't big on MM9 either and I've yet to play 10. I'm not excited for the upcoming 11 either. I'm glad the blue bomber is back. Now release Mega Man Legends 3!
This game is awesome. I always felt like, with the inclusion of Protoman as a playable character, it was 2 different games in 1, one featuring Megaman, and the other Protoman, it feels like a double package.
MM9 in terms of difficulty reminds me of MM2, meaning it's rather easy; MM1 is still by far the hardest one I'd say (and it was the first one I played). The only thing I disagree with you on is the music. This one probably has the most memorable tunes to me besides MM2. Other than that, pretty much spot on how I feel about this game. Not bad, but could've been better.
Rockman and Forte, sometimes called Mega Man 8.5, was pretty tough in itself. The first game had the exploitable pause trick you could do with the Elec Beam, making the game far easier than what it should've been. Even the mighty Yellow Devil was susceptible to the trick.
talking by experience, Megaman and Bass is the hardest game of them all, and here's why: - Level design punishes you the way it can - Enemies almost always hit you first - Lack of E tanks, which means Eddie is your only way to refill your health with megaman during boss battles (and they're even worse here than in the other games), also Bass can't heal his health by any means during boss battles, which makes most boss battles tricky. - When you die your weapon ammo doesn't get refilled like in past megaman games, so if you waste all your ammo on a boss and still die, when you respawn you will have to try and kill him with your Weak buster, and good luck with that. - King's stages is probably harder than Wily's stages from the first game - King stage 2 has FOUR boss battles on the same level, and one of them requires a bit of luck to be beaten with megaman. AND if you're playing on the GBA version it's even worse thanks to the small screen of the GBA
While Mega Man 9 is pretty cool, I feel it sucks some of the staples of the series didn't pop up like Mega Man having a charged Mega Buster shot or sliding. It did have some neat ideas and was cool to show the franchise return, even in this kind of classic approach for the old school fans. It and 10 did help a lot with Mega Man coming back, but I feel 11 is more consistent with moving the series forward.
Mega Man 9 is where Mega Man fights eight new Robot Masters, who were created by Doctor Light and went beserk for some reason (Concrete Man, Hornet Man, Splash Woman, Tornado Man, Jewel Man, Galaxy Man, Magma Man, and Plug Man, numbered 65-72 because there are 64 others before them in the first eight games). It’s where the graphics were copied from the first two games for nostalgia, as you don’t do charge your weapon or slide, but you can still use Rush and buy stuff. It also has the DLC, where you get to play as Proto Man, who is physically weaker than Mega Man, and fight Fake Man. Doctor Wily said that Doctor Light is responsible for the eight Robot Masters’ attacks, but actually, he framed Light, and stole and mind-controlled the RMs to make Light look bad. After Mega Man defeated all eight of these RMs, he freed them from Wily’s mind-control, and then Doctor Light took care of the expiration dates that the RMs had. They are doing jobs and allowed to live, like Mega Man and Roll (I can say the same to the RMs from all eleven main Mega Man games, as I believe these RMs are still alive). It's interesting that the game introduced, Splash Woman, who is the first female warrior Robot Master. It’s amazing that this game came out 11 years after the eighth game in 1997. I like the part where Mega Man reminds Wily all of Wily's evil actions in the first eight games and that spin-off called Mega Man and Bass in 1998, the latter served as a filler for the ninth game since Rush did not record Wily's evil actions in MM9 yet. Boy, I want a remake that has the same graphics and bonus stuff as Mega Man 11. And/or, a 3-D action-adventure remake/version that does all this, and the 3-D part would be like Kirby and the Forgotten Land in 2022 rather than Mega Man X7 (that game was weird).🙏 Concrete Man is my favorite in MM9.
With all due respect, I think you're missing the point about how it's the same as the old ones. More accurately; the NES. And yet, you didn't complain about 7 & 8 being the same game because it was an new gen. It doesn't matter what kind of bit it is as long as the game is good. Saying the game isn't that good because it's like the 8-bit NES ones is kinda an lame excuse. That's like saying Sonic Mania shouldn't been an 16bit game compared to the Genesis part because it was 23 years ago & plays the exact same. Now whether if it's for nostalgia or not & whether or not it plays the same, the game can still do so well as long as they know how to crafted the game so well. I understand where your coming from & I'm fine with that. But I'm sorry. That's an lame excuse if you ask me.
You’re absolutely correct, this game’s graphics are not supposed to be any more advanced than 7 or 8 but in my opinion they’re still great thanks to the amount of colors used

nope, Megaman and Bass is the hardest megaman of the classic ones - Level design punishes you the way it can - Enemies almost always hit you first - Lack of E tanks, which means Eddie is your only way to refill your health with megaman during boss battles (and they're even worse here than in the other games), also Bass can't heal his health by any means during boss battles, which makes most boss battles tricky. - When you die your weapon ammo doesn't get refilled like in past megaman games, so if you waste all your ammo on a boss and still die, when you respawn you will have to try and kill him with your Weak buster, and good luck with that. - King's stages is probably harder than Wily's stages from the first game - King stage 2 has FOUR boss battles on the same level, and one of them requires a bit of luck to be beaten with megaman. if you're playing the GBA version it's even worse thanks to the screen crunch limiting your view.

Mega Man 9 is a really difficult game for me to rank. It's a giant love letter to old school traditional fans, but it's not very innovative for 2008. I love the weapons and music, but I don't like many of the stages due to the stupid amount of instant deaths and the final Wily dinosaur battle was too ridiculous. Casual players will probably hate this game, while old hardcore fans love it. The problem is Capcom used all their 2D ideas in the X series and never "reincorporated" them back to the classic series. You can't wall climb or ride mech vehicles in MM9 or MM10. Why not? You can't even exit a stage at will! Why does Capcom treat the classic games with such minimalism?
@@amso7169To make the games better obviously. If you’re going to keep making 2D games add more moves and expand the gameplay. The two series are almost identical so it wouldn’t matter.

I really love this game. I consider its really nice that all robot masters weapons are useful, specially during the Doctor Willy's castle's phases.
1 -- Elec/Thunder Beam (E)
2 -- Bubble Lead (B)
3 -- Top Spin (TO)
4 -- Pharaoh Shot (PH)
5 -- Mega Buster (or Beat)
6 -- Mega Buster?
7 -- Wild Coil
(I haven't played 8 past that d@&% Frost Man stage, and haven't played even the GBA Megaman & Bass.)
Mega Man 9: Acknowledges Mega Man & Bass
Mega Man 10: Doesn’t
1:15:42 Love Wily's "animation" here
The only gàme franchise that still looks good in 8 bit graphic, in this day and age
That final boss was so tough! I had to use 5 energy containers.
Yep i havent played this game in years and cant get past the last boss with enough energies to survive lol
In megaman 9 its a lot of reference
Like:
-Get weapon theme (megaman 2)
-Wily castle map theme (megaman 2 too)
-Splashman stage (Bubble area looks like waveman stage in megaman 5)
-Megaman can't slide or charge (like megaman 1,and 2)
-and auto say the robot master is scrap
well, looks like Magma man is fire man,Splash man is bubble man,Tornado man is air man,Plug man is spark man,Concrete man is Guts man,Galaxy man is Astro man, and Jewel man is crystal man.
(Hornet man idk looks like he is new:v)
-and twin devil looks like green devil from megaman and bass & megaman 8
The scrap is took from past robot master
And dr.light rebuild them
If this wrong
You can corrected it
The robot splash is woman 😅
Dude, you play it very well. Congratulations.
1985dossantos Thanks! :)
Am I the only one who thinks the L in Dr Light looks like the Lexus logo?
Lmao, he's just fronting. He's just a Corolla with a few dents and rust spots.
I agree with Nate. Hopefully Capcom didn't have any legal issues with Toyota.
Mega man 9 is BY FAR the hardest mega man. You have to be STUPIDLY precise to even have a CHANCE at beating it
I just hate that they took the slide and Mega Buster out.
2017: Nope
2018: Not yet
2019: So close
2020: Why is this in my frickin' recommended?
RUclips works in mysterious ways.
We also need Mega Man X9.
So somehow you were not excited about 11 but were happy that Mega Man was back?
This game is awesome. I always felt like, with the inclusion of Protoman as a playable character, it was 2 different games in 1, one featuring Megaman, and the other Protoman, it feels like a double package.
I swear Jewel Man reminds me of Bright Man from MM4 the way he jumps.
He reminds me of Bright Man period
Wow the BGM... is still as epic as ever...
It's really good
MM9 in terms of difficulty reminds me of MM2, meaning it's rather easy; MM1 is still by far the hardest one I'd say (and it was the first one I played).
Mm3 very hard
talking by experience, Megaman and Bass is the hardest game of them all, and here's why:
- Level design punishes you the way it can
- Enemies almost always hit you first
- Lack of E tanks, which means Eddie is your only way to refill your health with megaman during boss battles (and they're even worse here than in the other games), also Bass can't heal his health by any means during boss battles, which makes most boss battles tricky.
- When you die your weapon ammo doesn't get refilled like in past megaman games, so if you waste all your ammo on a boss and still die, when you respawn you will have to try and kill him with your Weak buster, and good luck with that.
- King's stages is probably harder than Wily's stages from the first game
- King stage 2 has FOUR boss battles on the same level, and one of them requires a bit of luck to be beaten with megaman.
AND if you're playing on the GBA version it's even worse thanks to the small screen of the GBA
“requires luck” you mean the king jet?
Megaman 9 and megaman 10 are retro styled games that actually feel like retro games
Tornado Man music is awesome !!
The hardest mega man game I’ve ever played
Holy cow I believe you
I just noticed in the projected memory section we are seeing said memory from Concrete Man's point of View.
You’re absolutely correct, this game’s graphics are not supposed to be any more advanced than 7 or 8 but in my opinion they’re still great thanks to the amount of colors used
that was entertaining. this game was better than all the previous mega man games, except mega man 2.
bro is playing through this game like a champ and thinks its easy while im here stuck on the blocks in plug man's stage
a bit surprising that they went with the nes animation and not the snes animation.
1:13:00 Was Wily in the middle of working on Bass!?
Bass was absent from mega man 9 because he was undergoing adjustments
Playing this game as Proto man was a pain in the ass….
I almost took my life on the second wily boss in the castle because of how frustrated I was constantly redoing the whole level losing over and over again
I would, this game is so rage inducing and I might take the easy way out too
Best megaman since megaman 2
Agreed
Yeah 2 and 8 were my favorites
What difficulty did you play?
Hard I Think
There are no difficulty levels in 9, just 10.
There's only one difficulty unless one downloaded Hero and Superhero Modes.

Mega Man should have Calle Phoenix Wright to get him to defend Dr Light in court
Where can i buy this or is it a download? I dont see any copies on ebay or anything but i wanna play this on my wii
When it initially came out for PS3, XB 360, and Wii it's a digital-only release. The only physical release it got was in Mega Man Legacy Collection for PS4 and XB1. Although for Switch both Legacy Collection 1 & 2 were bundled together, LC1 is the only one that got on a cartridge while LC2 has to be downloaded.

nope, Megaman and Bass is the hardest megaman of the classic ones

Wondered if someone played this game via a crt back in 2009?
Megaman 2 to 9
Bubble man = splash woman
Flash man = galaxy man
Air man = tornado man
Crash man = concrete man
Plug man = metal man
Wood man = hornet man
Heat man = magma man
Quick man = jewel man
Only about half of those are anything alike, no offense
Galaxy Man has more in common with Saturn from the Game Boy's Mega Man V or X3's Blast Hornet.
Tornado Man is Airman meets Gyro Man.
If Splash Woman reminds me of anyone, it's Wave Man.
The only mega man game to feature a women and she can be killed within 10 seconds if you have hornet man’s weapon

Imo nes graphics don't look that hot in the 7th gen consoles and the should keep the mega man 8 graphics
The game was built for older gamers such as myself who played a ton of NES games back in the day (and still do today). No it won't look pretty to younger gamers, but to us older players, it was beautiful.

Why would they add wall jumping to the classic series? There’s supposed to be a difference between classic and x for fucks sake
@@amso7169To make the games better obviously. If you’re going to keep making 2D games add more moves and expand the gameplay. The two series are almost identical so it wouldn’t matter.
