@remone2013 that sucks. The data is still pretty clear on what happens in family court. Even your situation is consistent with the data: when men go for custody they get it more often than not.
Yeah, that one complaining about men wanting their children only after the mother files for divorce irked me. She says, "Where were you when I was raising them the first 10 years of their lives?" Most men's answer: "Well, I was at work, providing for them, because someone had to."

The custody segment was so bad all around. Terrible points from both sides. Immediately giving both parents 50/50 is a horrible idea and so is insinuating that men don't actually love their children. Where's the nuance? Edit for the people replying: automatic 50/50 is a bad idea because not all parents deserve or want that. It should be a case by case basis based on the material facts of each situation and not a given that you get custody regardless of your capability to care for your children. I also agree with the people who have replied that men statistically don't care as much. I have seen the divorce stats and am aware that most men who give up custody do it of their own accord. I was merely suggesting that it's a bad idea to use that as precedent to be uncharitable to all men, and that I do not think she was particularly rhetorically affective or concise in getting her point across. If you didn't already know what she was talking about you would assume she was just hating on men.
She contradicts herself and often rage bates, even though her talking points don't apply to her. "Women go to college and get useless degrees" yet she is a college drop out, has a podcast and often gets funding from her rich parents

@@MarcoAce13seriously? Can you tell us how? I would argue Thomas was the most reasonable person on the panel. Ariel said he wanted to get rid of gender altogether but when Thomas brought up situations that feminists fought against (specifically against domestic abuse support for men) proving that feminists advocate for gender specifics…Ariel stayed quiet. Why would the person who wants to get rid of gender not support that statement? It’s because he’s pro-feminist and anti-masculinity. How can you advocate for society being genderless, but only call out the faults of one side? That’s not very honest or reasonable is it?
@@ReelNinja1I think what the OP means by that is that he was the only one that at least supported some prompts that supports the feminist side of the debate
Modern western Feminists will never feel that way and because of that most MRAs will hate them. We've had egalitarianism as an ideology and humanitarian political points but feminism is still trying to claim both sides when it's obvious it's female superiority in the west.
There's another social branch that looks at men's rights from a feminist-inspired perspective, called Men's Liberation. It drifts away from the Us v Them, & tries to look at men's social issues from the inside, seeing it's a problem that's rooted from the patriarchy as opposed to blaming feminism. It doesn't oppose feminism, more so takes the talk away from women & actually focuses on men & their issues. He seems like one of those guys, though it's not responsible to glue him in with the MRA.
I love how one dude is oh I got stabbed, the other one is oh I got hit and what are the reactions? Nothing. This proves that yes, male pain is overlooked and nobody cares.
Because every single woman on that stage has been violated somehow at least once in her life. I can find plenty of men that HAVENT been physically hurt by a woman. Try to do the same for women.
My father got stabbed in the back by one of his exes in a drunken argument and he was literally the one that got arrested when the police arrived, he did end up going to the hospital but they treated him as the attacker. On another occasion she hit him with a hammer, my brother was home when it happened. It's honestly disgusting how people dismiss violence against men, it definitely happens, even though on a smaller scale it still does and we need to take it as seriously when it does!

What is so damn frustrating to me with these discussions/debates is when people pull from personal experience and implicate entire groups because of it ...this woman in red with long hair did it constantly.
if men stopped the objectifying she wouldn't need to have OF in the first place. Instead of blaming her who's just wants to earn money, look at the problem of the core which is men viewing women as objects
she would make no profit if men did not do such. plus, objectification is not a problem when it is optional, it is when it is forced onto women from a young age being seen as not a person with desires wants and needs but rather as bodies to be looked at and used. it is the lack of agency and consent that comes with the male gaze (men objectifying women) that is the big problem
Crazy saying dads only want shared custody because it connects them to the woman. What an insane statement. She thinks men aren't capable of loving their own kids. That's pure hatred and she doesn't want to meet in the middle at all.
@@SomeFreeTimeActivities She's referring to a Harvard study that came out a few years ago which demonstrated that this is indeed the case in a significant portion of cases.
I think the way she said it is wrong, like all men who want custody have thos reason but this happens there is many tragic cases of men wanting their ex wife and sometimes it end in the woman's death. I hope she said there are cases or some do
Which proves his entire point that we don't view men's pain as relevant. And there is a clear, unquestionable preference of women in society. The only people that don't see this are anti-men feminists. Hating or fearing men is a prerequisite for being a feminist.

Does the notion Dads loving their children not exist in her mind? I'd understand if the father had a substance abuse issue or other kind of problems. In general if a divorce happens, it's only fair the both partners have equal custody of their children unless other circumstances arise.

Real men’s rights activists are feminists bc they understand that the things women are fighting for also help men. The problem is the likes of Pearl and her ilk aren’t advocating for men’s rights they’re just misogynists who use men as a tool to beat women.
My sister got full custody… because she filed for divorce and filed the paperwork! Ex husband NEVER responded…. So, Pearl, let me answer your question “men should get 50/50 off the bat.” In California, the plaintiff makes the requests to the court and WOMEN tend to initiate divorce so it is most of the time women asking for full custody. Men are the defendants and it is their JOB to respond to the court if they disagree. They don’t. So why are they not getting custody? Because society has trained men to depend on women. They don’t do well with paperwork and logistics. And, if they really wanted 50/50 custody, they would respond to the court. So why don’t they? Because I can tell from what I see that men just don’t want all that responsibility! Imagine what a relief! They get to work to provide, which is what they’re used to, but now they don’t have to go to work and then come home and change pampers, cooks dinner, play with kids, clean up after them. Actually, they get the best of both worlds - go work then the gym and live like a bachelor and then kiss the kids and buy them a lollipop on the weekend and call it day!
I fought for custody of my son for over 2 years. Having physical proof and pictures of his mother doing drugs, among many other things. My son was abused and neglected for years while the courts did nothing. I'm a veteran, helicopter pilot, hold multiple degrees, and am currently in medical school. Married with two other children. I spent tens of thousands of dollars and only got custody of him bc she was finally arrested and went to jail for some pretty terrible things. She's now out and free awaiting trial for almost 2 years now, pays zero child support, and does the absolute bare minimum as a parent. Not even the bare minimum...
I’m a feminist and I completely appreciate the work you put in for your child however the system that thinks it’s a better idea to leave children with their mothers is the patriarchy…. I think you’re mad at the patriarchy.
that bias would stem from the patriarchy if anything, this is a problem that stems from men and their ideas of what men and women's roles are inherently and the ideas they and sometimes even women with internalized misogyny reinforce/perpetuate

If a woman is not willing to sacrifice her "me time" then maybe motherhood is not for her and that is OK. Men should be willing as well but naturally a child's bond to their mother is stronger and they will seek her more to have their needs met unless she is unresponsive to their needs then the child gravitates to the caregiver who is. This does not mean that men are not important or should not sacrifice their "me time" if they aren't ready to sacrifice then they aren't ready to be fathers. And most feminists believe that crap

That woman had terrible points.
They're projecting why they don't want the kids to see the dad.💯

There's another social branch that looks at men's rights from a feminist-inspired perspective, called Men's Liberation. I’m Mexican, that’s my nationality; born and raised in Guadalajara, and I got the feeling that you’re talking about the CHICANO community, which is not the same as the MEXICAN community. Being Mexican is not a race, it’s a nationality, and chicanos are AMERICANS who are the sons and daughters of MEXICAN immigrants. Because they feel that they are being pushed away
@loading...3190 that's not what Pearl said though, she said that men being less likely to get custody of the kids IS the incentive for leaving the home.
Women intitiate at least 70% of all divorce. Closer to 80%. Women overwhelmingly make out in the court system for divorce. Then get paid alimony or child support. You get paid to leave. Hence, incentives.
It's a shame that because of the false dichotomy posed in most of the prompts, both sides feel the need to convince each other through statistics or other examples that their sides life on average is harder or more unfair in some particular way and that it is a zero-sum game. This narrative makes it difficult to acknowledge each others suffering, problems and obstacles which is an indispensable aspect of the process of healing and ultimately working towards solutions.
Feminists don't need to convince the panel that women were oppressed it's history.
Exactly, the prompt "It's important for women to be mothers" should be changed with "its important for people to be parents "
Yes, this is an issue that all debate type content can fall into.

An activist wants equality. A supremacist wants to dominate. What are you advocating.
Why can't you be both?
I said this too lol
Real men’s rights activists are feminists bc they understand that the things women are fighting for also help men. The problem is the likes of Pearl and her ilk aren’t advocating for men’s rights they’re just misogynists who use men as a tool to beat women.
Calling him "dude" is pretty gender generous... his testosterone levels are probably lower than Perls.
My sister got full custody… because she filed for divorce and filed the paperwork! Ex husband NEVER responded…. So, Pearl, let me answer your question “men should get 50/50 off the bat.”
In California, the plaintiff makes the requests to the court and WOMEN tend to initiate divorce so it is most of the time women asking for full custody.
Thanks for speaking about your experience

@@siemei666 when mens rights groups have lobbied for split custody feminist orgs generally campaign against them
that bias would stem from the patriarchy if anything, this is a problem that stems from men and their ideas of what men and women's roles are inherently and the ideas they and sometimes even women with internalized misogyny reinforce/perpetuate

@@bobthebuilder3041 No, you can't. Feminism is a destructive ideology to men, women, children & overall society. As a child of divorced parents all i can say is, what hurts the most is that these fights weren't about me and my sisters wellbeing, they always where about themselves.
I’m sorry that happened to you but will your law make it harder to take away custody from those who shouldn’t have it?
Their argument is that because the father works to provide for their children so end up not seeing them often that must mean they don't care about their children and don't deserve to have custody? That's the stupidest thing.
Women now work as much as men. Even in 2 parent households women are still expected to do all the child care responsibility.
@@beachlife127 A child will naturally gravitate to the mother for their needs because that is who they knew first. The baby was formed in the mothers womb. Knows the mother by scent at birth. It is nature. Do not blame men for that. A baby's first survival instinct is to find the mothers breast not the fathers. They are and should do their part and help the mother if she is overwhelmed. It is important to establish expectations before marriage so that once children are involved problems do not arise.
