Shocking is the wrong word in your title. Which implies bad playing. Stunning is the word you want. And I didn’t need to watch the video. I just don’t like spotting misleading hyperbolic words, just to get attention. It’s like doctored thumbnails.

There are other performances of the Rachmaninoff three that easily outclass Argerich interpretively, but she surpasses all of them in her technical command.
But I am sorry, Buniatishvili cannot even mentioned in the same sentence is Argerich. Buniatishvili is the female equivalent of Lang Lang among modern day pianists, only prettier.
I think that many students at modern day conservatories could easily out play either of them, both technically and interpretively .

In some ways the Bach Capriccio is the most unusual and remarkable: she creates a sense of organ registration and polyphony instead of just the rush of articulated notes as this piece is so often rendered. She hits the leaps in the right hand as if they were adjacent notes, which keeps the linearity moving so you don't even notice Bach's "keyboard saltando" in those passages.

Maria joao Pires, Marthe Argerich et Yuja Wang.
De la technique oui, mais toujours au service de la musique, sans ostentation, avec des personnalités et des univers différents, ayant pour point commun ce que beaucoup appeleront du génie.

Yes, she does have a tendency to play things too fast, and her playing of certain pieces would be more effective if she just slowed down. But from everything I’ve read about her, she’s not the least bit ostentatious about her talent (as opposed to someone like Lang Lang, who is the most vulgar among modern day pianists)
