Couple months ago I was watching one of your videos about Autel im 608 and now I'm watching you dealing with topdon , I think I'm getting one too lol , I really loved the max one ,I think it's the top one now .
Great video! You learn something new every day. What may have happened is (I think) the Theft Deterrent Module was changed, and since it had the original key, it was read as a used key to the the new TDM module. . Either a new key had to be programmed or the original key had to be unlocked or renewed, and reprogrammed as a re-virginized key. You could have looked what was going on by looking at the live data on the BCM or the TDM. And see how the key was seen as.
To be honest with you I had to update the key tool max, I was poling around on how to detect the key and did not see the function. Do you know wich function it is to ping a key?
@Hands On Auto Training yes. There's a couple of ways to go about it. Either hit transponder clone. Or push the button on the side of the tool, opposite side of the pwr button. Select transponder detect. You will need to place the key inside the open coil of the tool.
But beware I've had times where the key tool max would detect a good working transponder in the key. However, the vehicle's key ring/coil pickup would not recognize it. Possibly the KTM has a stronger or sensitive coil? Not sure
Question because I’m new to the Key Tool Max. Couldn’t you have just checked to see if it would read the key? I’ve been playing with mine on known good by just checking the key.
Yes. 1st time I used the tool and I am not familiar with it. I did not know wich function / button reads key. Just like we all say learning your scope while working to fix a broken car is not the time to learn its functions.. same thing here.. I have to play with the keybtool max on good keys.. thanks for commenting Ben! .
I would check power and ground at the key reader, also make sure there is no metal around the reader ( the walmart bling bling kits will cause a no start in their parking lot!)
Question where he had the Phoenix smart hooked up is there a reason why you did not do the programming with it. I thought it was capable of programming keys. I know it's not going to be no im608. And how are you liking the Phoenix smart as well overall.
I like the pheonix smart, for the price it is pretty good. I have not messed with any of the programming features, I honestly do not know if it would have programmed that key or not. I am assuming it would not but I don't know!.
@@BrianMann216 I didn't say that, I don't think. Dealer No Start Device that shuts down the Vehicle with a WiFi code that's sent by a Lien holder for non payment. There are devices for that. I'll look them up and see what they look like.
@@christopherwatson283 I understand those devices, ( yank many off ). Most if the systems I have worked with are not tied into the can bus or lin bus , they directly interrupt the crank relay control
just want to warn anyone wanting to buy topdon....i have an elite that i bought from aeswave usa with a 2 year warranty...the dongle is malfunctioning and topdon says there is nothing they will do to fix it.....topdon does not stand behind their products!!!!
Always pick up ideas when I watch your content, thank you
Always something to learn or a new angle to tackle a problem!

Thanks for sharing Brian. You and family have a great weekend 😊
Does the tool can adapt component protection to audi cars
Cool video! Did the key tool max not detect a transponder in the key? Not sure if you tried that along with the antenna sniffer function?

@@dtandfam8100 I am going to do that in a few minutes when I get a chance. Truly have not had the time to mess with that tool yet!
Awesome auto training keep up the good

"RUclips technicians, wa wa wa". 😂 Truth spoken.
I have had a locksmith come out and make a new key with fob. Still won’t crank. I have a 2014 Equinox. Getting B3055 code. Any help

What’s wrong with the bottom right of the screen? Looks like it’s separating
Glare from screen protector?
@@BrianMann216 oh, where did you get the screen protector from? My scanner just arrived in the mail and I definitely want to protect it
Thanks for sharing well done bro
Might be a WiFi Engine Shut Down Module for Dealer recovery for Non-Payment? How many Mls. on It.
None of those things would make it not recognize the key. I think it was around 50k on the clock
