    CORRECTIONS!!!!
    1. In the video I stated the lab scope is not compatible with Phoenix Lite models. This is not entirely correct. The Phoenix Scope is compatible with Phoenix Lite 2 / Plus / Elite / Smart / Max
    2. The MSRP for the Subscription renewal is $1099 for 2 years however there are promotions which is why I saw $468 in my research.

      Again, absolutely outstanding content. I have recently purchased a Topdon Elite myself and I could not be happier with my purchase. I am undecided whether or not to buy the scope, because I don’t really use them, but from an educational and understanding point they are great. After watching this I think I might invest in the next few weeks on one. Thank you sir.

    Thanks for taking the time to review this. Excellent and clear. I've got the little Topdon Topscan dongle - and while in their DIY line, it has been phenomenal in that it has all systems access and decent bidirectional controls for well under $100. I was really glad to see a solid review of their scope, as last time I searched out of curiosity, there wasn't much online about it. Awesome that you touched on the subscription fees. I, too, get a bit bummed about everything seemingly requiring a subscription service it but it's to be expected. Software / updates and support seems top notch, and it's a far cry from a once off purchase like a hammer or screwdriver. Thanks again. 👍

      Yes I looked into it and it quite similar however it's more similar to the Phoenix Plus- not the Smart. It doesn't have the same programming capabilities as Smart.
      But also another thing- and this is one of the main reasons I work with TOPDON- is that they have offices in the US and EU. On other scanners I've reviewed many people have brought up issues with service and communication in companies strictly based in China so I decided to no longer review such products. Kingbolen has no US or EU locations.

    • @JohnDoesGarage

      @@SchrodingersBox That is what I've been trying to figure out before I buy a scanner. Xtool had the D9 Pro that appears to have all the functionality of Topdon and Thinktool but for a lot less money, but if it isn't supported it's not worth it in the long run. I have the Xtool A30M, Thinkcar Thingdiag 2, and Topdon Topscan Pro dongles and they all seem comparable, but they don't have the capabilities of an actual scanner. I have a couple videos on my channel where I compare all three on different vehicles. The market is so full of knockoffs that it is difficult to know exactly who you are dealing with and if you're receiving a genuine product.

    • @Mr2004MCSS
      @Mr2004MCSS Год назад

      @@SchrodingersBox Autoauth is how you access the secure gateway module on 2017 and up FCA vehicles. You have to sign up and pay $50 for a years subscription and have a scanner that is up to date and be on the approved list of scanners that can access it. If you don't have it, you are very limited on the information you can get out of these vehicles and in most cases you cannot clear codes or do any special functions. Without it, you have to use a 12+8 cable to plug in and most of the times this access point is way up under the dash and hard to get to.

    If you didn't already have a Picoscope, would you exclusively use this scanner and scope and not purchase a Picoscope?

    • @SchrodingersBox
      @SchrodingersBox  Год назад +1

      Well it’s a little tricky: if I didn’t already have a picoscope, the answer would be yes- I would exclusively use this one but it would be because I wouldn’t know what I didn’t know.
      But the fact I have a picoscope- I absolutely would and will continue to use it because it’s much better for post-analysis. Most likely I’ll use the Phoenix scope for when I need more than two channels or just the convenience that it’s a very fast set up and right there with the scantool and I can switch back and forth easily. But if I have something where I need to do deeper analysis on waveforms- cylinder pressure transducer readings for example, it’s much easier and more efficient on the picoscope.
      NOW- if the Phoenix scope ever had the ability to run independently off a PC, that might change things!!
