I have a 2011 Civic sedan 1.8L auto. I have towed a 2004 dodge stratus with it a couple hundred miles. I have towed my small trailer with UpTo 1600lbs on it for many miles. Yea, in 2021 I replaced the battery in my ex wife's 09 honda fit 5 spd sport, it was expensive for a tiny battery, but the battery was original, with like 185k miles, 12 yes old
With Honda’s manufactured in Canada, they typically put the small batteries in their units sold in the US. Just replace with the larger Canadian battery for cold climates. It’s larger, more CCA’s and will last twice as long as the crappy batteries that come with the unit.
For the cost of the Trailer Rental (about $700) and extra gas for 2700 miles (about $300) he could have shipped 8 50 pound boxes FEDex ground or UPS ground for less, and would not have risked burning out his transmission.

they should make a scan tool that not only tells you what the problem is, but how to fix it. It should go into such detail that a hologram of your car would appear on the screen, and a detailed close up, perhaps using a red x on the hologram to show where the bad part is located. Many times, it's a sensor and a simple replacement by a human with an IQ of over 50 can replace it. other times, it's in the internals of the engine, and that really sucks. set fire to the house, its easier to deal with. OK, we laugh but it's doable for price. It would involve a thing called four wire monitoring of all sensors and actuators, then a scan tool could tell you if it was a circuit fault or a sensor/actuator fault. Now I just want to start a shop and call it Obi-Wan (or Juan, depending on who you hire) Kenobi "Because we're your only hope."

Nope no drain plug on a diesel transmission the pan has to come off. Then, replace the filter, and new seal for the pan. Make sure not to go to a quick change of any kind. They have kids doing the job, and they will not do the job right. ALWAYS go to someone you would definitely trust on your diesel.
Why don't these scan tools group all the "trouble" at the top so you don't have to finger through the list? Why can't they detect if you now have a new battery and ignore lodging a code based on your old situation?
You should point out, how right the guy was by doing 55mph. I told an employee on a trip from Canada to Florida not to exceed 100kilo per hour/60 mph, while pulling a trailer with a minivan. I would wake up from a nap and he would be doing 140. Had to change the motor when I got back and the tranny went soon after. You can pull a heavy trailer by taking it easy, but you will kill the vehicle and leave yourself stranded if you push it hard.
I remember I had this car and in the manual it was rated for like 800lbs load capacity, lol I thought that was too funny considering that's like 4-5 adults with no luggage. Got rid of it when the time came but definitely weak on that cvt
And don't get me started on reversing up a steep driveways( at least my mother n sisters newer accord) you gotta do it a certain way or rev it up. Doesn't compare to a 4 gear transmission in reverse it just eats up the steep driveway in comparison. Other than that, the cars are great commuters.
18 miles a gallon while towing is not bad most trucks get 17 miles per gallon and that’s without towing imagine with towing probably less than 14 or 12 miles
MR. Kilmer I have a question about that surely scanner Can that computer scanner help program abs or any kind of automotive modules or what do you recommend for something like that I’m new to the automotive industry.
I've sent in several comments asking about my 2014 Yaris and why do I get a small shake when stopped at a red light while in drive and no shake when I put it in neutral. I'm a huge fan of you but not answering my question is starting to get to me.
Scotty, that scanner ain’t cheap. I found prices around $3000. There is a cheaper model, around $400-500. Is that the one you’re recommending for us shade tree mechanics?
I bought the Autel ms906 with all the adapters. However even with the adapters, the scanner will not read anything before 1996 obd2! I have a 1990 obd1 Gm c1500 truck. How can I make it work to use this bidirectional scanner to do what I bought it for. Any advice will help since AUTEL basically just told me I am screwed. Please help!
I bought an old, used OBD1 scanner off of eBay, Actron CP9185. It works great, reading my 94 Ciera 3.1liter, and my landlord’s 94 Chevy Silverado 5.7liter TBI. Though both are 1994s, the Chevy truck uses the old OBD1 codes, that are two numbers, first code blinks the check engine light 3 times, blinking 1, 1-2, 1, 1-2, 1, 1-2 for code 12, meaning it’s talking to the computer ok. If any other codes are stored, they’ll blink next. Meanwhile, the OBD1.5, as it’s called, is an OBD1 connector, but sends OBDII codes, P0320, for example, the cat converter code.
There never was an energy crisis---just greedy big oil raising prices. (In the '70s they were stashing gas wherever they could, to keep it off the market, and jack up the prices---according to a gas-hauler at the time).
Scotty I don't understand few months ago you said to use a resistor 1 amp resistor to reset everything all the codes on your vehicle now you say you need somebody like you with a machine to reset everything😮
Scottie, I go to auctions to buy cars. Can you tell me what scanner will just simply tell me if the car is good or bad? Or, is it just safe to assume they're all bad? 😆 (zebra laugh)
what is the best scan tool for a DIY for BMW's? And it should to other cars as well. Willing to pay for extra car modules if it makes economic sense ie, do that rather than get a big $ pro tool

So many people leaving cali! But usually not to NY! Heck even people are leaving NY lately
Hey Scotty, what a good consumer OBD2 scanner any recommendations?
Why don't these scan tools group all the "trouble" at the top so you don't have to finger through the list? Why can't they detect if you now have a new battery and ignore lodging a code based on your old situation?
Autel - Drones and automotive diagnosis. Perfect combo eh. Btw, these are good on diesel engines too, aren't they?
No, what would change things is if the manufacturers put a code display in the computer that is in every car.
Transporting 100 kilos! Be careful around people like that. Possible danger.
When the time came? Ita still not even time to sell that...its not old.
How’s things out in the valley ?
18 miles a gallon while towing is not bad most trucks get 17 miles per gallon and that’s without towing imagine with towing probably less than 14 or 12 miles
you can tow with a Civic? owners manual in my 2020 Toyota Camry says not to tow anything with it....can't even put a bike rack on it🤨
California to Brooklyn? No wonder Brooklyn is shot and NOTHING as I remember growing up there throughout the 70's/80's.
The sensor is at 4:00 approximately
California to Brooklyn, frying pan into the fire.
my cell phone can do most of this to my jeep with a bluetooth obd2 reader and a $30 app lol
MR. Kilmer I have a question about that surely scanner Can that computer scanner help program abs or any kind of automotive modules or what do you recommend for something like that I’m new to the automotive industry.
A few years ago the speed limit was 55
I've sent in several comments asking about my 2014 Yaris and why do I get a small shake when stopped at a red light while in drive and no shake when I put it in neutral.
I'm a huge fan of you but not answering my question is starting to get to me.
If there is any way i can modify to fit it in I just use the biggest marine battery from Walmart on all my cars. They last a long time.
Can it automatically make you pass a smog check?
Hahaha Scotty you sound like a kid with a shiny new toy I love it. That is one fancy scan tool!!
Scotty, is my thinkobd 100 still any good? or should I buy a new one? If so, which one?
Scotty my wife doesn't have an OBD port. How do I analyze her performance issues?
Junk it. It’s cheaper 😜
😆 🤣 😂 l ve tried all the ports on my wife and mostly they piss her off.
You obviously haven't found the security button, check the manual😳😳😎🤣🤣🤣
Scotty, have you reviewed FIXD Sensor/App yet?
Scotty, that scanner ain’t cheap. I found prices around $3000. There is a cheaper model, around $400-500. Is that the one you’re recommending for us shade tree mechanics?
Hey Scotty, I hear Ivan at Pine Hollow is giving a class on diagnosing cars. You interested?
Can u give more info on your new scanner, pros and conns
is there a cheap one that will do up to 2004 discovery 1&2 diesel codes? I believe they are a little non standard
Great scanner Scotty but will it give you bi directional control on a 1992 celica if not it's trash...
Is it sealed transmission to check the fluid or it doesn’t ?
Scotty does this obd scanner tell a person if the tire sensors are bad?
What about Diesel trucks' encumbrance mpg?
Is Fixd a good scanner?
As Scotty said, a small car with just a small engine will scream, with a manual transmission.
Does this work on a 2007 prius and how much does it cost for the yearly updates
Have you tried Carly scan tool
The maximum national speed limit was once 55 MPH.
Wouldnt a blue driver clear the codes at a cheaper price. Larry
What tool is that you using I need one
Surprised U haul allowed him to pull a trailer with a Civic. Recently hauled a 6x12 trailer from Florida to PA, but with my 2004 Sequoia.
Is it just me or is Scotty considerably more giddy than usual in this video? 😂
Wheres the link to the tool...
Does it fix the problem
If we could just harness the power of Scotty's hands, i do believe we could solve America's energy crisis!
There never was an energy crisis---just greedy big oil raising prices. (In the '70s they were stashing gas wherever they could, to keep it off the market, and jack up the prices---according to a gas-hauler at the time).
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Well for $4,000 it will blow you away either way. Lol insert scotty kilmer laugh.
Scotty I don't understand few months ago you said to use a resistor 1 amp resistor to reset everything all the codes on your vehicle now you say you need somebody like you with a machine to reset everything😮
Where can I buy this new machine at?
Scottie, I go to auctions to buy cars. Can you tell me what scanner will just simply tell me if the car is good or bad? Or, is it just safe to assume they're all bad? 😆 (zebra laugh)
Scotty: "I'm still going thru the data your car is producing... your car is not ready"
what is the best scan tool for a DIY for BMW's? And it should to other cars as well. Willing to pay for extra car modules if it makes economic sense ie, do that rather than get a big $ pro tool
Honda is awesome
This old man is crazy 😂😂😂😂
That's the nicest you've been about new Hondas FINALLY!
