Thank you for what you do. Your course is cool because of the back tracks. Love it. I get to jam along with you. So cool!
"Jesus just left Chicago" what a cool song. Gets me everytime I hear it. In fact all of the Tres Hombres" album is legendary.
What’s Billy talking about in master of sparks ?⚡️🤷🏼♂️
Welded in to a shape by Slim 😁
Master of Sparks is about how for kicks they used to get into a cage in the back of a pickup truck and then have someone push the cage off when the truck was flying down the road at a high speed
@@lilmoe4364 well damn! That'll most definitely cause some sparks! Lol
They have a album before Tres Hombres it's called, (The First Album) ZZ top rules
If you look closely this guy actually has the Jesus vibe! Ironic
Hot damn, that’s spicy. Wasn’t familiar with this one. My Tele is eyeballing me now.
I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide one of my favs!
Gibbons is the master of laid-back grooves. His live playing is incredibly economical but gut- bucket heavy on groove.
Well said. I thought the same thing after seeing ZZ for the first time in ‘22.
Just saw him last weekend. Amazing. No sweep arpeggios, no tapping, no ah. Just old school guitar playing. Fn awesome.
Amen
👍🔥
Billy does have some tapping up his sleeve. Every now and then when he hits a bend around 5-9 he’ll tap the 12 mid bend.
@@thebeastmaster3453 That is where Eddie Van Halen claimed to have copped it, yeah he always used it for a kind of hiccup trill.Billy man. So earthy.
These short and sweet lessons really are appreciated. Its a nice side project to go along with my practice routine. Keep them coming!
He's also one of the most genuinely nice people you'd ever wanna meet.
Billy Gibbon’s use of pinch harmonics always amazed me. A video analyzing his technique would be great.
Choke up to the point of the pick and you want the pick to hit the flesh of your thumb almost at the same time.
A lot of distortion helps
@@lilmoe4364 and he uses a Mexican coin too
That second solo in "La Grange" - harmonic city! So awesome
Great session 😊
Sounds sooooo sick, I remember this lick giving me chills when I saw them live. Thank you so much for posting I can’t wait to learn it!
Never realized how cool that riff is (as well as a learning tool), thanks!
short and sweet. thanks a bunch, this trick is awesome.
I Love that tone. Sounds like a Bassman. Good lesson. The Rev is da man.
This is so amazing - thanks so much for sharing this 😊👍👏👏👏
Love this series!
Thanks for the simple Billy Gibbons riff trick lesson. Appreciated!!!
Hey a big hello from North Western Ontario Canada, just found your channel, great content, great lesson, I most definitely subscribed.
Man, having access to resources like this for *free* is *insane*! What a great time to be learning guitar!
Great little riff. So much you can do with it.
This is a Robert Johnson technique. I like it
Great technique, I am gong to use it a lot !
Thanks
👍🏻
That's the best finish to any of your video's, so far!! Bet you cannot beat it!
I saw ZZ Top on 8.6.22, just a few days ago, in Atlanta, GA. It was Electric! Literally! Lightning filled the sky, and it got so bad that Kenny Wayne Shepard had to cut his act short. Eventually ZZ Top came on, but not before an hour intermission waiting for the storm to pass. It never passed, but they played anyway! Southerners don't fear a little lightning!
I love that telecaster with only the bridge pickup!
Fabulous mate, so cool
Great lesson. Your a good teacher.
Awesome lick ! Love this …. I also love the hybrid picking technique
such a sweet lesson... thanks!
One of my favorite bands and one of my favorite rap songs, It’s all Texas baby!!!
What's your favorite ZZ Top tune?
Also The link for the Tabs is now fixed - ruclips.net/video/bUqENfhdGbc/видео.html
My Heads in Mississippi... can't help it, love pick harmonics!
Just Got Paid. Easily. Early stuff before their 80's pop phase.
Just Got Paid and Brown Sugar
Favourite ZZ Top 🤔 in " I need you tonight" from " Eliminator" 😎
Whiskey'n Mama...
Ten Dollar Man...
Somebody Else Been Shakin' Your Tree...
I’ve loved this riff since I first heard it and always wondered why nobody every mentioned it 👌 it’s my go to fuzz pedal demo riff 😂
ol billy bad ass... love the tones....and those light strings... like how man
Billy Gibbons is the groove/hook master! It’s crazy when you think about how many fantastic songs ZZ Top have put out over the years! Thanks for breaking this one down man!✌🏻
Just checked out the new setup for tabs, looks cool man! Makes sense to combine it with your other courses! A lot quicker too!
Great track off of an under appreciated album. Cool lick for sure. Just saw Top this past Sunday night and Gibbons was so good. 😃👍🏻🎼
That guitar sounds great. Hey man hit us with some Vernon Reid sometime cult of personality is a wicked fun song to listen to.
Duuuuude you did a killer job with this!
Man this is such phat tune, damm. Thanks for the lesson
that TONE is amazing!
Billy F Gibbons is the master. Robert thank you. A couple of weeks ago I enrolled in your online classes. They are amazing.
I have gotten so much out of them for such a small price.
Thanks so much for that Scott!
@Timothy Davis link in the description
Love it !!
Thanks Robert!!
Cheers for tips man I'll use this, we'll give it a blast anyway 👍
nice stuff. Still have to go with Beer Drinkers, Hell Raisers as a favorite.
I'll counter with... Master of Sparks 😀
Reminds me of the Norm Greenbaum sound, a little "Spirit in the Sky". Thanks for posting. Billy is smooth like butta!
Thank you Robert
Awesome video Robert
Awesome thank you
That was REAL good!!
I always loved his open string playin an the addition of fretted notes. It's a throwback to the old blues players who did peddling often.
PEDALING
@@PainBreadzkyperderlern tho. Ferm Jerhern Serbershen Berk, fermers bererk kermperser, Purdle terns ers plural.
Thank you Robert.
THANKS MAN
After playing nothing but acoustic for forty years I decide to get an electric. Found a cheap strat on Craigslist. $175. Didn’t know or care much what it was beyond being electric. It’s a one pickup one knob Made in Japan Contemporary Strat.
“85-‘86. Since then have watched players talk about the one pickup thing. Phil X and others. Gotta say, it’s Sweet. I can’t handle too many knobs and switches anyway. Tone is fantastic. Put a Buzztone pickup in it after watching Sped Spedding on RUclips talking about them. Great lesson! Thanks🤙🤙
Digging this analysis
Man, it's so bluesy cooool ! Thanks for breacking it down for us!
Good one RB!
I love the foot stomps😀
Fantastic looking rig.
Love this🤘
Love that fender
THE REV!!!! THE MAN!!!! THE MASTER!!!!
Yep Billy is the Man with the soft hand!! Very cool! Peace brother
reminded me of junior kimbrough's sound
Thank you.
I just saw the master Saturday. Perfect concert.
Tube Snake Boogie is one of the most killer guitar riffs ever. It seems like So many notes coming out all at once.
Got love the Rev.
The problem with hybrid picking is once you start you can't stop. Lol
This tele is nice 👌🏼
I need that fuzz! What is it? Sounds heavenly!
Man that outro was fab
Nice!
Ya gots me, bro! I's subscribed! Now I need to dirt up my Tele! My Squire Cabronita. Love when you get together with Tim Pierce too. Thanks for this.
Nice one ! ..John Lee Hooker knew about this technique I'd say :)
I read Jimi Hendrix was a fan of Billy Gibbons? His tone is mad!
Cool, thanks. Love ZZ TOP.
Another great video. The stuff you do is so varied. From Eddie Van Halen to Billy Gibbons in a week. Always learn something I can use. Have you thought about talking about how you get the tones you use. Doesn’t matter if it’s amps and pedals or modelling, the principles are the same. I’d not have thought to use fuzz and a tele. I’m guessing it’s quite clean and a little fuzz.
Maybe it's just the awesome tone, but it reminds me of Sam's Boogie by Magic Sam.
Love when the Rev plays a Tele !
She's Got Legs was the first song I heard from them, tends to be my favorite from them because of the memories and it's video.
Your outro was cool. 😎
It still throws me every once in a while that both Billy Gibbons and Jimmy Sullivan are both "The Rev." Lol
And Reverend Horton Heat
@@samneubauer3625 you beat me to it.
Robert Baker RULES!
Ry Cooder is also a master of catchy licks!!
The A minor pentatonic scale should be renamed the Billy Box.
Hope I see more simple hybrid chunks, similar
Lonnie Mack, Stevie Ray’s mentor/inspiration called the high E the Bell. Ringing the Bell along with the riff. I’ve seen Billy playing this way on Waitin on the Bus. With Sammy Hagar actually. On the RUclips.
Thanks!
Man I can't believe I'm just now seeing these thank you!
Deguello is one my favourite albums. Gibbons' playing on it is sublime.
And sadly, it's the only one of theirs not streaming.
@@MrvlZmb Strange.
Stapleton uses a similar technique on "Devil always made me think twice" which is one of his more bluesy songs rather than country. Check it out if you haven't heard it, might make for a good video.
I’m 60 years old and grew up listening to ZZ Top. Was a big reason I wanted to play the guitar. I could play 12 bar blues all night every night with my beer drinking buddies and it never got old. Then bam 💥 Grung. Oh and kid and a job.
Thanks for the lesson, would have appreciated a bit of a tone guide as well 🙂
Man o man Robert...I get it now :) What a great lesson and the techniques , so well explained. Thank you, thank you. It's time for me to get my "Swamp Style" on . How about teaching us "Hey Mr. Millionaire" All the best, thanks again.
"Sharp Dressed Man" I saw ZZ Top 3 nights in a row a good while back. The opening act was J oan Jett and the 2nd band was Loverboy. What a lineup to get through to get the tha Top....All 3 bands were good though, don't get me wrong..
I would have arrived a bit late lol
@@starluxstudio619 geeze I never thought of that...lol
Oh man, I got to see them with Lynyrd Skynyrd once and Kansas once. Those were both great acts - I mean Skynyrd is more like a co-headliner .
@@kylecravens6501 I'd of loved to see them with Lynyrd Skynyrd and I agree that could of been a co headlining event, and Kansas had to of been great too...
I think you're just being polite
Respect
I really love Billy’s stuff. Not pretentious, easier than it looks and sounds and always lots of fun. Kinda what music is supposed to be. Cool to see you totally get the attitude! 👍
Billy is so lazy but it renders so well! He's genius
Im done with the strat!
Mine is Manic Mechanic love it.
Mmm... Good stuff!
