Absolutely brilliant idea to add this ride to the tower and themeing it with superman. Genius. The free fall looks like a major rush.
This is the only ride in the park that I refuse to go on. That and the giant slingshot thingy, but I don't really count that as a ride anyway. I'm not sure what I'd hate worse, the feeling of falling for that long or the gut-wrenching anticipation of being taken up there slowly wondering when it's gonna stop.
Being lifted is WAY worse than actually being dropped in my opinion. Especially with the six second wait at the very top. I went on this ride and was freaking out more and more the higher we went. But it's really worth it and I'll definitely go on it again.
agreed... Rides don't really scare me much, but this actually got me quite nervous, which is saying a lot. First it pulls you up fast, then it starts lifting even faster once it gets out of the magnetic brakes. And then the suspense. I couldn't believe how long you fall.. It's rather ridiculous... ....and I love it. XD lol. Also, why do I feel the need to comment on a 4 year old comment.. mysteries of humanity and the internet I guess...
This ride is nothing but fun...! Once u get use to it u will ride it all the time.

Don't close your eyes! The view is amazing and if you waited in a long line, you might as well enjoy the scenery.
Every time I go on this ride I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack and a seizure all at once, only on the way up - You must embrace the fear and it will be profoundly amazing. The fall is exhilarating, liberating and worth it the moment the ride lets go. Also, Lex Luther speaks right before you drop so there is no guess as to when you'll fall. The best part is the end when all that adrenaline and endorphins from surviving is rushing through your cranium. GO ON IT, I promise you won't regret it.
So just imagine getting stuck have to go down those stairs while superman escape from krypton is going u r right there how scary would that be

I've been on this thing so many times......fortunately for me so far I never had a leak accident..........probably if an earthquake came that most definitely would be a game changer then!!!

The view of Lex Luthor, at 3:32 where the Lex Gondola is waiting for Superman to make it's acsent up the tower before it drops, and then drops, is just unreal and just sick how high up the ride and tower are. I never thought in my lifetime, anything could ever surpass the Parks Sky Tower, but this view proves otherwise. WoW! What a view of 400 feet. Cant wait to ride this thing.
This is making me shake because I cried once I got off of it. The view made my palms freaking sweat like crazy!
If i ever rode this one... It would be the side with the cars. Too scared of the dropping straight down side would not ride that part without a cardiac arrest.

This ride is built on the superman ride which is the one with the trains. This ride and the superman ride are completely different
They did a really good job making sure Superman and Goliath were timed perfectly for the helicopter footage

it does. I saw on one of the news stations that went for media day that the tower sways about 4-5 feet when the Superman ride is going up the tower. They had no clue it would do that, which is kinda cool xD Unexpected surprise.
Being from New Jersey I am super excited for great adventure building a ride just like this.
im really afraid of height, put me 50ft below the ground and my legs would shiver. However i don't know how i found the courage to try this ride, being lifted 400ft is WAY worse than 50ft. I was absolutely terrified when it started to lift me and the higher it went the more terrified i felt. It just never seemed to stop going up. But then it finally stopped luckily it only stopped for about 5 seconds more and i would have panicked, i can't imagine being stuck up there for even 5 minutes. I liked it when it dropped down though. To this day i'm proud of myself :D.

I've been to six flags magic mountain before, while waiting in Line for the riddlers revenge you could literally see the superman tower shaking every Time it be cars go up and down, I can't even imagine it now with a drop ride!

Superman opened in 1996 but didn't get fixed until 1997 and officially opened. I remember riding free fall an old ride that was about 10 stories tall near riddlers. As I looked at the new 41 story tall tower that was superman, I remember thinking how awesome it would be if that was a freefall ride. Well 15 years later it finally happened with lex Luther. Though I am a bit skeptical on the integrity of the tower, it was originally designed to accommodate the 30 ton cars of superman, and not

the 'Coaster Guy' whom has his own Six Flags Park site, and can be contacted on Facebook, he told me Lex Luthors Gondola from where you drop from, is a whole 150 feet higher than Goliath's Hill and drop. 150 feet may not seem like alot of 400 feet, but it's more than half the hight higher than your 2nd generation free Fall rides.

I agree with you on Green Lantern. I use to live in Valencia, California but then I moved to FL. An I remember I was like oh dude this is nothing, but then when I went on, I was totally regretting it. An people say the ride hurts, it doesn't hurt at all in my own experience. But Lex Luthor, I don't know if ill be going on that shit when I visit next year. I have never been on a drop ride, so if I went on this with no experience with drop rides, I would probably piss my pants and cry.
I had gone on a similar drop tower ride a county fair a few years ago. It was a few hundred feet shorter than this, yet it scared the crap out of me while traveling put the tower. Then I went to SFMM this last August with my sister and rode Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom like it was nothing. (FYI: I enjoyed the heck out of both rides.)

I'll try both for sure. It would be neat to one day go forwards on Superman again, given I'd like to see how each way feels and seems. Was never on Superman when it was the way it was before. The neat thing about going foward for me, would be seing wheather you can see Lex Luthor riders.

lex luther is scarier. That was the first ride I got one yesterday and it was absolutely heart stopping. When me and my friends got off we were shaking and had sea legs. I would definitely recommend lex luthor over superman. Also , the green lantern is ridiculously fun too. It doesnt look that scary but once you get on it your life changes immediately lmao.

This looks absolutely incredible. I think Cedar Point needs to do something similar with TTD as they're lacking a drop ride.

I only rode this once and my seat was so loose I was paniking so much qhen we dropped I clutched the harness to my chest my poor self...

So the giant drop has finally got its record broken after so many years!!
I have not been on either Free Fall Drop Tower rides, but from what I know, I'm sure more extreme from a height standpoint. Lex Luthor Drop is around 380 feet. That's nearly identicle, could be Higher or just at the height mark of the Magic Mountain Red/Orange colored Sky Tower which has always been the highest point in the park. The Supreme Scream, not quite that high. Probably 32 or 30 stories.
Just went on it today, it wasn't that bad at all... lots of fun though. I believe X2 and Tatsu definitely have more g forces than this thing ride. Yeah it's tall, and it looks very-very intimidating, but it's not that bad. Coming back for Frightfest and I can't wait for this ride again.

@addillikatithang they took him down when they redesigned the Superman ride. Now the cars go up the tower backwards (so there would be no chance of seeing Superman while going up and down the tower).
Well, there's that, but it's not a true free fall. It uses the compressed air to either launch you upwards or push you down but it still bounces on a cushion of air. It actually slows down as you fall so it's not the same experience as what this ride would be.
I live 5 minutes away, I can't wait to go on this ride

I went on it and it is mostly just a lot of butterflies going up, but going down for me at least, it wasnt that bad because youre kinda focusing on falling 400 feet lmaoo
When you drop you don’t feel anything cause I went on to six flags Great Adventure Safari and I went on Zumanjaro it wasn’t that bad

It sways because as you can see its built on the superman ride. So when the superman ride starts this ride tends to sway because of the superman ride.

Just to let everyone know I went on this ride 4 times in a row it isn't that bad as it seems but it is really fun and it's over before you know t and it's really worth it because the line is never long because everyone is scared but it's really not that bad so GET ON IT

I've only been on Detonator once and that scared the absolute shit out of me, I don't know how I'd handle something 4 times bigger.
There's one in the UK I've been on that is 'only' 177ft & 54mph and I thought that was bad. If I'm ever in the US, this is going on my list of things to do.
