Honestly I was really disappointed with the lack of color options. I wasn't used to not having a color wheel. I didn't end up getting into it until last year and that's only because my husband bought the base game for me and i seen how smoothly it ran.
I remember playing the demo for a couple days, then giving in and going to the store with my dad later. I'll tell you what though, these selection of early base game clothes definitely makes it noticeable how obsessed they are with neons. Neon magenta, neon blue, neon green EVERYWHERE, it was not cool even in 2014, I promise. It took them this many years and collabs to realize people want neutrals.

Neon colours where in during the 1970's, and made a comeback in the 1990's. Broad legs where a late 1960's thing, often in bold colours. Low waist where late 1960 to early 1970's

Maybe I’m just getting too old, but I am so angry that low rise pants are coming back in style. I only recently started getting new clothes and getting rid of my old high school low rise jeans, but now they are back in style!
I hand painted the Sims 4 original plumbob and it took me 4+ hours. I used acrylics and blended every green I had together to get the effect. Not to brag, but it's perfect. THEN THEY CHANGED IT 😭
Me too haha. It's nice they have more skin colors now but I think like half of them are not usable. The cool skin tones are really grey and some variations are almost the same skin with different details in the shadow.
i just remember playing for HOURS in the demo before my grandma finally bought me the full game after it was out for a year. she said it was sad i only played like half the game😭💀

I do want to clarify that in the Sims 3 you could still go into advanced mode for editing facial features. Just that all the options were controlled by sliders. The options were still there.
Honestly, even when the game came out, within 20 minutes I was missing the sliders for the face, and I think after about 1.5 hours making my sim and house, I played for less than an hour before quitting and switching back to the Sims 3 because I was bored 😅
I don't get why people choose TS3, if not for nostalgia. The gameplay is best in TS2, the B/B mode is best in TS4, I guess the CAS depends on the person, but imo TS3 sims look awful and have same-face-syndrome... so I don't see any field that TS3 works best. I guess it's mediocre in all fields

@@antonizajkowski9698 Nah, it does have simillar amound of gameplay as TS2. I really miss TS3 school in other games, 2 doesn't really have school gameplay and High School Years... You want me to do another repetitive gameplay like Get To Work? It's way to much complicated and time-consuming, and after a while you just don't have interest in it. Prom and notifications were way better. And theres many stuff like that, if it wasn't for look, it would be a great game, open world, pets, horses, small animals, snakes, cute toys, univercity, magic creatures that weren't inpacting game too much to get annoying
I remember when i first got the game like 5 years ago, I thought CAS was amazing, but than I discovered cc, they updated the gendering system of ts4, they discovered what subtle was, and they updated hair colors and skin tones. So looking back i really realize how incredibly lackluster the old CAS really was.
I remember going to Gamescom in Germany and standing in line to play the sims 4 demo. A woman came up to me and asked me if I wanted to partake in a quiz and ofc I said yes immediately. She asked me what the name of the "thing above sims heads is" ... i immediately answered "plumbob" and my price was skipping the waiting line 😀that was so awesome. At least 1+ hr saved. And I got to play the demo which was so amazing! 😀 I see it in my origin libraby all the time but never thought of revisiting it. What an amazing idea kayla ! 🙂

God you pulled that Sweater Dress out ( 7:18 ) and I was transported back to Lifesimmer's OG sims 4 lets play, I think the sims name was Candace Monet and she wore that. And then I put every sim in that for a year because it was the cutest thing we had in CAS
This video reminds me how upset I was with The Sims 4 CAS when I just started playing it sometime after launch. There were no curly hairstyles that in-between slightly wavy and fully dense/afro curls, so no way to get hair like mine or in general the type of curly hair so common where I come from. Like my ethnicity did not exist as all in the game lol

I've only ever played 4 hours of The Sims 3. It only once made it pass the loading screen for me. So I went years without playing the Sims and just jumped right into 4 without ever really playing 3.
Cas was groundbreaking! As a player that experienced the game develop from sims 1 to this it was HUGE improvement! Of course I didn’t have eyes to notice any flaws
The dress and legging combo is what a few of my female cousins wore for Christmas Eve one year. They including knee-high and thigh-high boots along with a wide belt to complete the look.
There are actually two wedding clothes (full body outfit) in Sims 3, one with, and one without necklace. I've always used that one when my female sim was about to get married

She has played it since like 2011). And she had to legit beg my dad to let her get it. I sat on a dining chair in the living room, next to her, and watched her play. God the nostalgia 😭
You know how townie Sims feel iconic and necessary for every save file? That's how I feel about the Sims I made with the cas demo. I still add them to every save. Maybe its just me, but I enjoyed the game more when it was a little simpler (not cas necessarily but gameplay).the more they've added, the less it all works especially the past couple years.

On a similar note (Not quite the CAS Demo but still quite old) It blows my mind that Newcrest wasn't in the base game when it came out (It was added in patch 20) and that's the area I normally build in (Would do more Forgotten Hollow stuff but I hate the Welcome Wagons which were added in the same patch as Newcrest)
i'm pretty sure the english simmer did a video a year or two ago where she did exactly what you said and installed the game using a disc without wifi and played the game as it was released. i would love to see you do that

Omg I remember when sims 4 first came out, I was in elementary school and I remember listening to music as I would play. Not much has changed from that time except now I play on console and I'm a senior in high school... How the time flies..
pffff as a child in 2014 i remember that the ONLY jeans that were available for purchase in stores for elementary schoolers were low waisted and boot cut and they were the ugliest, most uncomfortable things on the planet.
I remember when the base game and CAS demo were released, you could upload the sims to the gallery, I maybe misremembering, but I do still have some old CAS demo sims up on my gallery.
Ironically that multi color fishtail braid is what my NSB minty girl started with. I wasn't using cc at the time and I didn't like the pure mint hair very much. Fun to go back!
I still have access to the first sim I created in Sims 4 because I loaded her up to the gallery. I did it because I lost my first sim for Sims 3 to a computer crash, and missed her because I had used her as my picture for the Sims 3 online profile/gallery. I ended up quitting Sims 4 a few months after it's release. All of my Sims families began aging in my library and I couldn't figure out how to start a new save. The pickings for a husband were limited too and I ended up having a child with Don Lothario. I don't remember why, but I had to download the Goth family from the gallery. I was SO MAD that the library changed because Mortimer died and the family had aged. At that time I didn't know how to fix the family.
Some of the stuff wasn't bad but I voided, and still do, a lot of the chunky items, like the hair and boots in particular. Some of those boots are some I would have wanted to use if they didn't look like big, plastic, doll shoes. On shoes, I really feel we could use some more nice heals and flats. With the gloves, didn't like that **all** the gloves were skin tight. Ditto on the jeans, hard to find a nice pair, and all we really need is a version of the more typical jeans one would find at a shop, a nice bootcut even.
I tried it, went meh, and put it down for a long time. Didn’t pick it back up until the day they had vampires and toddlers. Made a vampire in the city (with city living) and started a 7 toddler challenge almost immediately 😂
As someone who is mainly into CAS and not building in the Sims, it took me months to realize there weren't pools. But within a week I was frustrated at the lack of CAS options lol
Hoinestly, I still use the base game jeans/pants (and some from the Vampures pack) for male sims because I hate how the ankles are showing on the majority of the newer ones. Who even thought it looks good? I mean, if there were enough semi-high boots to hide the ankles... but there aren't.
I remember being so excited for sims 4 then actually playing and noticed how small the world was , I was disappointed and really ran back to sims 3. The only thing that made me play sims 4 a little bit more is mods ,cc, and city living pack

I remember playing the demo and HATING it lmao it was so incredibly laggy for me and all the dragging to change your SIm's appearance did not work at ALL because that was the main thing for me, it caused me to not buy the game for a very long time. when I finally played it on a friend's computer I was blown away! bought it right away after that

I remember the day sims 4 launched. I remember I was the first person to get it from GAME in my area because I made my dad camp out with me to get it first. Nowadays I just don’t touch it. I’ve got a couple hundred hours from my first venture in 2014, and a few extra hours from the few times I’ve got bored and decided to give it a go just for fun but I really don’t enjoy it. Maybe it’s that I grew up with sims 3, maybe it’s that I can appreciate the subtle humour, maybe it’s that I just find more to do. But I’m a sims 3 girl through and through. I can play the sims 3 for hours without getting bored. When I most recently played the sims 4, I got so bored of the gameplay that I literally fell asleep on my keyboard. I’m almost 20 now and I guess for me the sims 4 is just very watered down and ‘for kids’. It has none of that funny raunchy humour and it just feels like it’s been dumbed down from the previous games for me.
First time ive played CAS just blown me away. I felt like it was alien technology ngl. Then I tried playing and found there was no toddlers, quit the game and never came back.
it took me a few years to get the sims 4 after it came out cause i didnt feel like not having pets but i had the cas demo and it BLEW my mind. then cats and dogs came out and i still waited cause i didnt care if i didnt have horses 😂

Even with only having sliders there was still a lot of functionality with TS3 CAS. And that color wheel fixed a multitude of sins 😆

Didn´t know about this, but I still remember the strugel of creating a Sim in the first Sims Game and how many options there where in the sims 2, played that probably the most.

pffff as a child in 2014 i remember that the ONLY jeans that were available for purchase in stores for elementary schoolers were low waisted and boot cut and they were the ugliest, most uncomfortable things on the planet.
i started playing a little later but i was a strict base game only player until 2020, and i was so obsessed with the sweater dress too

I remember when the base game and CAS demo were released, you could upload the sims to the gallery, I maybe misremembering, but I do still have some old CAS demo sims up on my gallery.
Ironically that multi color fishtail braid is what my NSB minty girl started with. I wasn't using cc at the time and I didn't like the pure mint hair very much. Fun to go back!

I still have access to the first sim I created in Sims 4 because I loaded her up to the gallery. I did it because I lost my first sim for Sims 3 to a computer crash, and missed her because I had used her as my picture for the Sims 3 online profile/gallery. I ended up quitting Sims 4 a few months after it's release. All of my Sims families began aging in my library and I couldn't figure out how to start a new save. The pickings for a husband were limited too and I ended up having a child with Don Lothario. I don't remember why, but I had to download the Goth family from the gallery. I was SO MAD that the library changed because Mortimer died and the family had aged. At that time I didn't know how to fix the family.
Some of the stuff wasn't bad but I voided, and still do, a lot of the chunky items, like the hair and boots in particular. Some of those boots are some I would have wanted to use if they didn't look like big, plastic, doll shoes. On shoes, I really feel we could use some more nice heals and flats. With the gloves, didn't like that **all** the gloves were skin tight. Ditto on the jeans, hard to find a nice pair, and all we really need is a version of the more typical jeans one would find at a shop, a nice bootcut even.
i was in awe of this demo and the base game once it came out. such simpler times 🥺
I tried it, went meh, and put it down for a long time. Didn’t pick it back up until the day they had vampires and toddlers. Made a vampire in the city (with city living) and started a 7 toddler challenge almost immediately 😂
As someone who is mainly into CAS and not building in the Sims, it took me months to realize there weren't pools. But within a week I was frustrated at the lack of CAS options lol
Hoinestly, I still use the base game jeans/pants (and some from the Vampures pack) for male sims because I hate how the ankles are showing on the majority of the newer ones. Who even thought it looks good? I mean, if there were enough semi-high boots to hide the ankles... but there aren't.
jeans in the sims 4 are really hit or miss and mostly just miss.

I remember being so excited for sims 4 then actually playing and noticed how small the world was , I was disappointed and really ran back to sims 3. The only thing that made me play sims 4 a little bit more is mods ,cc, and city living pack

I remember playing the demo and HATING it lmao it was so incredibly laggy for me and all the dragging to change your SIm's appearance did not work at ALL
because that was the main thing for me, it caused me to not buy the game for a very long time. when I finally played it on a friend's computer I was blown away! bought it right away after that
I was obsessed with the cas demo. Now I download as many extra sliders as I can
the dress and leggings combo feels like 2014 lol but def not the flared jeans and all the low waisted stuff. I wonder when they started making the sims 4 cas stuff? I remember switching to skinny jeans around like 2010/11, and high rise probably not long after. but i had to wear uniforms in school so it always took me a long time to catch up with fashion trends lol

I remember the day sims 4 launched. I remember I was the first person to get it from GAME in my area because I made my dad camp out with me to get it first.
Nowadays I just don’t touch it. I’ve got a couple hundred hours from my first venture in 2014, and a few extra hours from the few times I’ve got bored and decided to give it a go just for fun but I really don’t enjoy it.
Maybe it’s that I grew up with sims 3, maybe it’s that I can appreciate the subtle humour, maybe it’s that I just find more to do. But I’m a sims 3 girl through and through.
I can play the sims 3 for hours without getting bored. When I most recently played the sims 4, I got so bored of the gameplay that I literally fell asleep on my keyboard.
I’m almost 20 now and I guess for me the sims 4 is just very watered down and ‘for kids’. It has none of that funny raunchy humour and it just feels like it’s been dumbed down from the previous games for me.
