Now, I understand some features like "Claim a bed" being added later on, but family trees? Toddlers? The game was released incomplete and they still charged for it...
@@AnimeArtest1 we know man, but the thing is that it took almost 7 YEARS to make it free. If the game was that incomplete from the start, it should've been free from the beginning. They rushed sims 4 so hard that they didn't even add TODDLERS up until 2017.
@・クローズガーミン ・ ・Claws Gaming・ it costs money yes, but they have the money. they don’t have unlimited money ofc, but they’re not struggling either. it wouldn’t hurt to add some new ppl on the teamz
Sims 1: Dude this is our first time. Sims 2: I will give you the most unforgettable memories. Sims 3 :I will do my best to satisfy u. Sims 4 :Plz take out all of ur money.
Basically. But if that means we don’t have to forget sims 4 because there is a new sims game (sims 5) then I’ll happy do that. Think about it. It’s like all the money spent on this game won’t go to absolute waste

@@indedgames4359 The Sims 2 started with development in early 2000. Was released September 2004. Last expansion pack was released in 2008. 4 year to made game from scratch (The Sims 1 was 2D) and 4 years to fill it with content. The Sims 4 is the same 3D game as The Sims 2 was but feel so incomplete.
@@HellCorrosion except, we're talking about the "base game" here. In 2004, you couldn't just *update* everyone's Sims 2 original disk to give it more content. Virtually all the features of Sims 2 base game were there since day 1.
@@JayTohab Minecraft is also more than 10 years old and continues to receive updates, they are also free. If a game still has the potential to implement new things, there is no reason to "kill" it. Even The Sims 1 could continue to receive new Expansions, adding a university, weather, new life stages, etc.
I think it's a good game on it's own, I had fun with it as is anyhow. After a few months I did download CC for CAS for more creativity, but I'm the type use to beating games and being done with them after about a month, vs playing a single game and expecting to enjoy playing it for several months/years.
I don’t get why the sims4 community complains so much like this? Like Jesus. Try playing a game like Animal Jam or something, you’ll realize how incredible Sims4 gets with every update… Played animal jam all my life, moving to sims4 had become the best breathtaking moment of my life, yet all the comments on every video is complaining exactly like you. You take too much for granted.
I'll never understand how The Sims 3 was so great, a perfect model for Sims 4, and yet they effed up so badly. I played Sims 4 for a few hours when it first came out and was so angry that I haven't touched it since.
Because the sims 4 was meant to be an online multiplayer game and none of the features from sims 3 or previous sim titles were never meant to be implemented. At all.
@@nyanimations5680 are you well? That’s literally the whole entire reason why so many features were stripped from the base game. The engine itself was never meant to implement any of those features to begin with. It shouldn’t be an excuse but that IS the reason why game sucks. Don’t come at someone that actually done their research.
The sims 4 takes out the creative sandbox experience and replaces it with this micromanage-y type of experience disguised in beautiful set dressing. All aspirations feel like tutorials, there's not enough consequences when bad things happen, and sims end up feeling like erratic schizophrenic nut jobs when they can't get their emotions under control.
I've picked up Sims 4 again recently and loving it; the biggest thing I missed from Sims 3 though is the ability to just wander around the locale. Now even to visit a neighbour you have to 'travel' there.
I am mixed on this. I loved just being able to go anywhere, but it was so taxing on my computer that it actually took longer to play than just loading in and out
@@rosesweetcharlotte To be fair, The Sims 3 was so poorly optimized on PC that it didn't even matter if you had a powerful PC, it would still run poorly. You pretty much need to install optimization mods in order for it to run properly, and even then it still doesn't fix all of the issues 100%. The Sims 3 was very ambitious and probably even ahead of its time, however, I'm pretty sure with modern PC technology it would be possible to bring back open world neighborhoods again without it completely tanking PC performance, so long as they actually optimize the game correctly.
I’ll never forget the famous “baby glitch” If you weren’t there for the baby glitch days then u missed it. My sim had just had her second kid and OH MY GOD WTF IS THAT!!? It’s limbs were everywhere. Eyeballs were outside it’s skull like a looney toons character. It was phasing thru walls. TERRIFYING! I stopped playing after that
The only thing I'm still missing in Sims 4 is the memory mechanic from Sims 2, it was so nice to build up a whole story with your Sims and them actually remembering it, and seeing their different thoughts/reactions on events and achievements based on their personalities. Everything in the Sims 4 seems unimpactful in the long run. Also, distinct personalities and full attraction system would be hella sick and would make a full game.
I used to also think that ts4 toddlers were around 4-5 years old, but now that I've had experience taking care of toddlers, I'd put their age at around 2-3 years, and ts2/3 toddlers at about 12-18 months (and 18 months is kind of pushing it). Toddlers develop skills a lot earlier than you'd think.
and i will never get over THE SIMS 4 being released without pools. people who havent even played the sims have memories of sims drowning in pools like- EA is diabolical and ruined this game and im so sad that we'll probably never get a sims game made with love ever again
We definitely lost a lot in the Sims 4 base game. No pools or toddler life stage. It was a huge letdown. The toddlers in the Sims 4 are actual nightmares though 😂
I remember being so excited when the sims 4 came out. My dad had preordered it for me and when I got home from school he had handed it to me. When I launched the game I was so happy and excited but once I got into live mode…Yeah I got bored after 10 min. I couldn’t believe it. I kept saying “No, this can’t be real. How am I bored already?? Why is so much missing??” I didn’t play the game again for maybe over a year. I went back to playing sims 3 and only played sims 4 for a while when it got big updates like pools and toddlers. I still don’t play the game often. Such a shame because I grew up on the sims.
Same here. I got it as a gift and I was excited. I played it twice and never touched it again. I think I gave it away to someone. I just recently bought the base game with all the expansions on eBay.
@@helllllloworld I just searched up sims 3 and 4 and someone selling all the packs came up. But when I tried linking it to my friend the listing was gone so maybe the seller got banned or disappeared.
something that really took me back was the change from the 'insane' trait with the strait jacket icon to the 'erratic' trait with multiple displayed emotions. it was neat seeing that back again.
I miss a "story book", idk how to call it, from sims 2. It gives you an option to check a lot of events that happened with a sim throughout their lifes. I remember how enjoying it was to check it once in a while.
@・クローズガーミン ・ ・Claws Gaming・ idk, I feel like this isn't the best take, that's like saying to take out all the substance from the game because it could be misused in an offensive way.
@・クローズガーミン ・ ・Claws Gaming・ it's really not your problem if they do that because it doesnt affect you. You won't see it unless you go out of your way to find it.
@@sinhalite What's a kid from France messing around with formal asian attires and Indian turbans with their sims gonna do, let's be honest here The people of the cultures where those attires hail from would just find them silly for using them wrong I wouldn't have a meltdown because someone started fooling around with my people's cultural stuff, it's not like anyone is drawing prophet Muhammad or anything, people often find things outside of their culture silly or funny, it's normal, just like an Indian would find Christian marriages unusual. And as long as it isn't something serious like for example the native American chief headwear, what's the harm in fooling around?
I like the added dimension Neighborhood Stories gives to my npcs, but I hate that they all move around all over the place! There are a bunch of normies in Forgotten Hollow, Vlad lives in Sulani, and the Vatores moved to Henford-on-Bagley. I can't find anyone when I need them
mine much worse : any married neighbors on my sims will reproduce many babies as much as possible until they reach max household limit, if you didn't "turn off" the "having babies" 😳
@@DPWrepublic Oh, I wish my sims had their own babies! In my case the neighbours would only adopt kids all the time, no biological offsprings. Pretty annoying :(
@@rhianwenshelygin2187 in my experience the richer a family is the more kids they adopt. Like there are at least 30 landgraabs in my save none of them being related to nancy and geoffrey.
Coming into Sims 3 from Sims 2 felt like a natural step forward. 3 didn't have everything from 2, but overall it was an improvement on what was already in Sims 2. Coming into Sims 4 from 3, however, felt like a massive step backwards. While the graphics were better, everything else was a downgrade or just gone entirely. Knowing that they already had the systems in Sims 3 only made it even more frustrating. It also significantly changed the overall playstyle of the game as well. Needing to go through a long loading screen just to visit your neighbor meant that it was easier to just have your neighbor come over to your house. So, rather than being out and about in the neighborhood, your families either ended up as shut ins or traveled together in zerg groups. You couldn't have one sim going to the store while another is visiting their friend's house, while another was out fishing. It became all or nothing, and nothing was the choice with less headaches. It's a little better now, but nowhere near as good as 3 was.
I will be honest, I hate the cartoony look of sims 4. The way the colours look and everything just don't do it for me. Graphics wise yes it does look better, but the style is just not for me. Especially when it came to the supernatural life stages like vampire, werewolf, etc. the game felt too... fake? childish? I am not sure how to describe it but the overall aesthetic of Sims 4 especially with the supernatural life stages just aren't a vibe with me. I completely agree with you that the sims 4 is such a downgrade gameplay wise. Only reason I stuck to sims 4 was because of mods but I recently figured out how to implement them to sims 3 and I have not gone back. I miss too much of the mechanics from sims 3 and sims 4 just feels empty.
@@CyberCervine And I completely agree with you about the change in art style with Sims 4. Sims 4 as a whole seems like it was designed to be a mobile game that got adapted to PC, rather than a continuation of the existing series. Something to attract a younger audience, rather than worrying about trying to appeal to the audience that had been with them for years.
@@lorgin2003 I definitely feels like Sims 4 is sanitized for a younger audience. I think the game as a whole should have stayed in the development oven for longer because it's clear it wasn't ready for release at all. No pools, no ladders, no toddlers, all which were included in base games before it. Just sucks because I can FEEL like the game devs are trying but EA being EA wants money before anything and they developed a method with packs to keep it just fun enough to buy new packs but just boring enough that it isn't enough.
@@CyberCervine Oh, absolutely. I wouldn't put it past EA to try to charge by the sim, and have microtransactions for each individual piece of clothing if they thought they could get away with it.
Sims 4 feels empty after the first few months it gets boring and then if you buy packs it gives you some extra stuff to do to kind of try to fill the empty void called the Sims 4 but it doesn't last long
So basically they build a weak foundation and every few months they send a maintenance team to add more content so it doesn't all fall down If only EA had some brains and heard what the fans wanted and fixed the foundation instead
I truly think TS4 base game was not actually ready for launch when they released it but the team had no choice but to do so. It felt sooo unfinished. I mostly play TS2 & 3 since I find them to be more fun, but I have occasionally played TS4 and the updates they've gotten over the past couple of years were very needed and definitely improved it slightly.
The problem with ea is they only care about money and they don't listen to fans, I have seen this with star wars battlefront 2 and fifa, and if they don't make enough money as they wanted to they will look for something else, it's really frustrating because I really want a good star wars battlefront and sims 5 game😂
100%!. I genuinely want to see what game 5 will have, but that won't happen if fans are still purchasing and promoting sim 4 games. From playing from the 1st game- it was so blatantly obvious 2014 onwards of game elements they left out so there would be a drawn out push for consumerism. And any updates were mediocre and small. Why would the other games have 50% more content in animations and freedoms to compared to sims4. They can say it was different technology but nope, there were reasons they designed a poor game with 3 x more money.
as much as i appreciate the representation, being nonbinary myself, i MUCH wouldve rather they added bigger features and actually attempted to better their game. they added pronouns and such to distract the sims community from how crappy their game is, and for a while it actually worked. yes i am happy they added the feature but come on now, if they can add that then they can take the time to fix their game.
i think i am the only one who thinks sims 4 toddlers are 2-4 years old and kids are 5-10...... cause i don't think a 5 year old would be as small as sims 4 toddlers are
I've always said that the kids are about 10-13 and then they turn into old looking 14-18 year olds. I think if they're going to have teenagers, they need to either make them look younger than the young adults, or make a preteen option thats like 14-16
I’ve always hated the option to choose masculine or feminine clothing because masculine clothing never fits feminine frames and feminine clothing never fits masculine frames, so I feel like EA just did it to tick off a box without actually making clothes fit on all frames. There are only a few items that fit on both frames and it’s just so frustrating. If the clothes fit then it would be an amazing option.
i remember that i got Sims 4 as a christmas present in 2014. I was so excited to play, but after 30 minutes or so, i got bored. So bored in fact, that I didn't touch the game until Toddlers were added, which improved my game experience quite a lot. but it's still very boring when you compare it to the older titles
In Sims 2 you could place lots anywhere as long as one side was up against the road. In Sims 4 the maps just feel very empty and a lot of space that could be more lots but just aren't for some reason.
3:48 Yes, now we have thousands of custom options 996 of which doesn't resemble any known skin tone known to man. 40 Asian looking eyes making every randomly generated sim Asian, usually with blond hair and gray skin and yellow eyeliner for some reason, and dresses in Indian ceremonial attire. It's really a next level life sim.
I forgot about some of these! It's a reminder of why so many people still want Sims 4 to continue and feel it's missing so much. That said, depending on the feature or update plus the current age of the game it might be too late to get some things done, at least not in a way that functions completely like it should. I feel the same way about the base game now as I did then. I just want my sims to have better personalities. I recreated some of my favorite sims I'd made in Sims 3 in 4 and they were extremely chatty, always moving, and very much the same despite having different personalities. When asked why three traits instead of five SGGrant said that more traits would cancel each other out and makes sims more vanilla. I didn't even recognize my sims in Sims 4. They had far better personalities with the five (eventually seven after uni) traits in Sims 3 than the three to four in Sims 4. I recreated a few of them in Sims 2 and with the point scales they were still better than Sims 4.
Yes it baffles me they would say traits cancel each other out, when we have a very clear evidence that it's not the case! All that talk to avoid admitting they got lazy with traits... I would have been happy even with the personality points system from the Sims 2, still waaay better than Sims 4 traits.
I tried opening the Sims 4 yesterday after 2 months (according to origin) even though I've been exclusively playing the Sims 3 since September. I can say though Sims 4 is much easier on the eyes aesthetically and build mode is great but I've become accustom to the Sims 3. The Sims 4 is just dodgy on my computer so maybe when I get a better computer I can play it. I'm a Sims 4 veteran tbh, I've played it since launch and bought ever pack up to Eco Lifestyle. It's a shame because the Sims 4 has good qualities
sims 4 is great in some aspects. while i actually like the graphics of sims 3 better (after lighting mods and CC), sims 4 CAS and build mode are superior. trying to build in sims 3 can sometimes be a nightmare lmao. with that being said, in my opinion, sims 3 is better in every other aspect though.
I didn't know that CAS story mode added funds in different levels. I thought it just added traits and an aspiration. wow, you keep surprising me. THX. I LOVE this video. What? kids can garden? I love Neighborhood Stories so much. it ads so much to my game. one of my sims I am not playing has had 8 children. partly my fault for moving them out as they become y/a.
its been 8 years!? 😱 I haven't touched sims 4 in years since I bought it. Then went back but stopped playing again shortly after. It wasnt like the old sims series for me when I could play for hours on end. Sims 4 just feels so empty. Thank you for putting this together.
Sims should get a base game repackage and include pets, cats and dogs and parenthood with it. The game would feel more complete considering it would have more than 3 worlds and if you include pets from the get go then more families would have pets, seasons is weird to be something locked by paywall, and parenthood adds alot of drama and story ideas that allow players to create more stories from the getgo. And maybe 2 more empty worlds that are more stylized. If they did that then sims 4 would finally feel like a full game. Also including this 3 dlc's as base game then they can do more dlc around them (not that its the best thing to add more stuff to pay for on sims 4) like then stuff like my first pet would make much more sense.
i bought sims 4 day 1 and had very little interest in the game then. i was pissed i spent my money on that bs lol. went back to sims 3 immediately. came back to it in 2020 after recent historical events :) and while live mode still leaves much to be desired, build mode is so fantastic. i never get bored of it. i will spend an entire day just building a single house if i have the time for it lol. never was much into building in previous iterations of the game. sims 4 isnt perfect but they rly made build mode a fun and intuitive experience... (minus a few glitches here and there lol)
i got the sims 4 deluxe on sale for $6 on steam a couple months ago. this is the first time in my life i’ve owned a gaming laptop, and as a kid and tween i watched a ton of simtubers, so i’ve been loving it. i’ve downloaded a ton of cc to make the characters not ugly as well as wonderful whims for more interesting love plots. it’s so interesting now as an older teen to read up on the lore i found so interesting as a kid!!
I have to know, how did you get the game to restore back to the first version?? That would be so cool to play knowing that back then was the peak of my love for the sims.
I would come back to The Sims 4 if they would add chemistry, memories, wants and fears and if they would fix aspirations. For now I only play with The Sims 2.
The thumbnail got me thinking about the biggest difference I've noticed, not just in base game but including all the packs. The entire style of the aesthetics and the gameplay has shifted to suit player's expectations and desires. There's always been kind of a pull between the chaos players and the nice little family players and I think the game is tilting towards the latter. At first Sims 4 was more like the previous sims games, a weird sitcom inspired/Simpsons-like caricature of the world (although maybe watered down compared 1-3). But players have been really focused on asking for inclusivity and representation and I understand why and have no problem with it, it's just interesting to see how that's shifted the game. The best example I think is to look at packs like City Living. Before that pack the game was a very homogeneous North American suburban simulator, and City Living added "diversity" and "cultural representation" . . . but it didn't have very much to do with real world cultures, none of it was very specific or accurate. Compare that to My Wedding Stories or kits like Courtyard Oasis, Fashion Street, and Incheon Arrivals and you'll see what I mean. And I LOVE all the items in those packs. I love having more hair colors and eye colors and customizable skin colors, but ultimately it amounts to a move towards realism and away from cartoonishness. Also look at how the base game tried to pass off the cheese hair and the ketchup hair as natural hair colors, compared to the newer more nuanced and muted additions. And finally we have the Goth family update, most importantly Bella, and personally I'm not a fan. They took an iconic character who's something of a caricature, but one with interesting characteristics not just a flat stereotype, and turned her into an ideal modern woman. Bella Goth was never meant to be aspirational. She probably had plastic surgery, she wore risqué clothing, she had an exquisite, unorthodox taste in decor, she married a very questionable man yet she was perfectly faithful to him. New Bella just doesn't seem like she could get abducted by aliens and if she did it would feel darker because she feels more like a real woman. I wish the refresh had just darkened her skin tone a bit and made her proportions slightly less exaggerated, but I really like old Bella's face. She was beautiful but very unique. New Bella's face is actually incredible, but it doesn't look like Bella.
14:49 It is really amazing they added this extra life to the game, but one issue about this specific update combined with MC Command Center, there are so many pregnant sims in my worlds that were auto-impregnated. It’s almost haunting. Seeing households be filled with babies.
"They take forever to kill..." yes, I noticed that even when my own personal sim caught fire; he was burning for ages before the fire brigade finally showed up. Though they do get caught in their own pan fires all too quickly; he was at someone else's house and ran through to put out a fire on their BBQ without me telling him; yet a fire on his own lot and he caught fire instead of just putting it out. On that note; cooking is far too dangerous; it seems even at cooking level 1 lately you catch fire all too easily. It scares me to cook more than salad till I'm at least level 2.
Note the pronoun option is only for languages (at least English) where there are gender-assigned nouns. In Finnish everything is gender-neutral, we don't have she/him, we have "hän" that means just a person
I think they purposely made the base game very “basic” so that simmers would be obligated to buy the content put out in order to enhance their game experience. As they saw a good response from sim fans they rewarded with really good upgrades. In turn the CC is not as needed over the years. I wish they wouldn’t come up with a sims 5. They just need to continue to upgrade the game and release packs, kits, whatever. I personally was not a sims 4 fan. Later in 2018 I started playing and fell in love. I would hate to see sims 4 become less relevant because of a sims 5 just like it happened with the previous versions.
I also should mention in sims 3, the clothing editing was out of this world!!!! Now they'res only a few options and we depend on CC creators to have decent clothes
when the sims 4 came out in 2014 i was so excited. i had a friend who got it shortly after the release and i still remember what it looked like the first time i saw the game. then i think that same year i got sims 3 from a family friend and i’ve had a sims obsession since
At 6:55 i just wanted to point out that in the edges of swimable lakes/water toddlers can play in the water which uses their swimsuit im pretty sure. In basegame they still dont need their swimsuits which doesnt make sense though lol :)
It feels crazy that I remember all of these updates coming out for the first time and how HUGE it was. I remember what it was like playing without all these features. We had it rough back in the day haha
what i love about sims4 is they are easy to mod ,like really easy for a full 3D model ,its the easiest than most game . since they give us the tools for converting the 3D model . i've been creating clutters , furniture , additional item , hair and clothing , that so i can make my very own original sims using my own custom design .
This was a lovely video; it really makes one appreciate the game’s evolution despite its very obvious flaws (mostly stemming from the inadequate engine) and the particularly nefarious state it has been in since the late July 2022 update. I had been playing the Sims since 2005 but I only purchased the Sims 4 in November 2020; it’s cool seeing everything that’s now available from the get-go
I been playing a lot of sims 3 lately and I enjoy the game play from 3 more than 4, because 4 lacks that open world! But TS2 will always be near and dear to my heart
Hi there! Thank you so much for your work and your video! 🙂 It reminded my first experience with The Sims 4 some years ago! This game has evolved so much over the years. It's amazing to have such a community for a game! Even if I leave the game for many months, I always come back to the game and get hooked with it for days/weeks/months. It's incredible how addictive it can become depending on your feelings/objectives/creativity/ spare time. I suppose no game has offered me this sense of freedom yet. I remember, from my first experience with the first version of The Sims 4 that I felt so frustrated... There were lots of bugs (some are still here but I can assure you that it's fewer) indeed but so many missing objects/functions/ gameplay. Yes they weren't even toddlers... And when they put toddlers in... They were not able to take the stairs! I did not know you needed the Skill I thought it was a bug 😄 Moreover, the neighborhood was so "small"... If you wanted to go to the next-door house, you had to go through the long loading screen! What a difference from The Sims 3... They made a lot of efforts to better and optimize our experience, now there are "fake cars/life/animals" in the streets... It sometimes feels like a dollhouse world but you can walk even further in your neighborhood without loading times. However, a few months ago I launched the Sims 3 and asked my Sim to go on an Island... My sim took her broomstick, took the subway, took the boat, etc... With no loading at all! That's such a pity that they stepped down on this part. But The Sims 4 remains a great game (with many DLC), the building aspect is much easier...optimized, and the CC & mods (even a multi-player mod) offer us so many possibilities... The community, again, is one of the friendliest and most creative communities, so caring and friendly...! 🥰 I'm really happy to be a part of it! Thank you all mates! 🙂 I can say for sure The Sims is a legendary game that is still unique, it remains a game that no other could replace! Can't wait for the next Sims game...! See you there! And until then, I wish you your best and nicest experience on The Sims 4! ✌️
More like hating and being ungrateful that things aren’t perfect and ignoring the many problems earlier games had because everyone is blinded by nostalgia.
@@digimonlover1632doesnt change that the earlier games have many features that never appeared in 4 tho, people can forgive jank much easier than boredom
I got the game when it launched on PS4. I think it launched with newcrest and we also had vampires, city living and the glamour stuff pack and some party stuff pack. It might have launched with toddlers and ghosts but I think this came early in release. It was my first sims game and I enjoyed it, but my house was so basic. And now when I start a new game it’s really hard to make such a bad looking house even with base game stuff - they improved the look of the game a lot. I remember them introducing the intro with Alex which I always played for the bonus :)
The real reason why they added hot/cold weather outfits into the basegame is because of the gallery. I vaguely remember it being said when Seasons came out that if they didnt include it like this, the gallery would completely break (which it already is anyway so)
This is crazy, I’ve never actually played the sims before and I’ve only ever watched very specific play throughs. One of which started in 2014 so all the base stuff was normal to me, I didn’t even know about most of these updates. The other is building videos so most of the updates are item related. Cool video!
I personally loved the seasons drop, don't hear many people praise it as much as I think it deserves. Prob cos we had to pay extra for it rather than it being in the base game lol. Nonetheless it adds such a nice feel to the game, and acc makes you feel like you're playing a life simulation game.
Yes I love seasons but it's a pack that really should be base game. I mean it's fing weather!!! You shouldn't pay a real life simulatior extra to have rain or winter
I got the base game after Get Famous came out and I remember absolutely loving it. I totally get that it was a huge disappointment and genuinely unfinished upon initial release, but now it's easily my favorite base game of the franchise.
I didn't buy the Sims 4 in 2014 because of the huge criticisms. I recently started watching Sims 4 videos, and was pleasantly surprised. It has a lot more options than I thought. Turns out most of these options were added in the past 3 years. Still glad I didn't buy in 2014
My first experience with The Sims was that old version. I watched a Minecraft RUclipsr and clicked on a video with non-block people. It has the grey and white town and no toddlers. I didn't actually get the game until sometime after University came out I think.. I have several packs and The Sims 4 is my favorite game so it is kind of upsetting people still poke fun at it being horrible in comparison to The Sims 3 (which from the videos I watched I don't like the design, but open-world concept I understand).
It comes to the individual and their own personal experience with the sims. I played the original, 2, 3 and 4. And I'm more opinionated than someone who has only experienced 4. I can also see the massive consumerism push now by The Sims brand and the manipulation they did from the start of the 2014 base game till now. It was a deliberate effect to make the base game lack qualities compared to 2 and 3. And the 'updates' are just adding from what should have been in the original base 4 to begin with. I'm very critical but its also cause I have that original love for the Sims I was brought up with
@@Echoday2day I've never played the first 3 sims games, so for me I can say I'm fortunate in a way because I don't have to experience pure disappointment when I play the sims 4.
(Feels kinda bad sharing this openly on the Internet, but oh well) I used to play the Sims 4 with many expansions for free in my pc, now that the base game is free, i deleted the old one and installed the original. I got to tell u, I'm struggling. There were some key features to the game that I hadn't realized that were expansions up until now, and I feel like many parts of the game lack something, u know?
Don't. It's not worth it. There are sooooooooooooo many bugs, glitches, and dull, limiting elements that you're wayyyyy better of sticking with The Sims 2 and 3.

It's necessary to have a sims 5. Sims 4 system and engine was so unenjoyable. Sims 5 is necessary to have a complete new system, which I hope learns from sims 2, and sims 3.
@@Puddindaosha Yeah, that makes sense. Ideally, I would like a new engine/system that allows us to import content from TS4. From the teasers I've seen, it seems like there's a chance they might go in that direction. EA did something similar with the Mass Effect Trilogy. Only problem is, you know these guys love money. So they'll probably choose whatever strategy is the most profitable.

They've basically spent 8 years adding stuff that was all in The Sims 2 nearly 20 years ago.
Becaus These things had to ne remade again

@@HellCorrosion except, we're talking about the "base game" here. In 2004, you couldn't just *update* everyone's Sims 2 original disk to give it more content. Virtually all the features of Sims 2 base game were there since day 1.
Thats why they won’t let us buy the sims 2…
At the same time it is still lackluster unlike TS2
The base game has improved over the years but it still has a long way to go to become a good game on its own.
It’s definitely a good game on its own, but it has a lot of potential to be better
It's almost a decade old. It should die.
Like Jesus. Try playing a game like Animal Jam or something, you’ll realize how incredible Sims4 gets with every update…

I'll never understand how The Sims 3 was so great, a perfect model for Sims 4, and yet they effed up so badly. I played Sims 4 for a few hours when it first came out and was so angry that I haven't touched it since.
same I literally refuse to even buy it. I was so mad they didn't have the colour wheel anymore that I just refused to even look at it.
Because the sims 4 was meant to be an online multiplayer game and none of the features from sims 3 or previous sim titles were never meant to be implemented. At all.

@@ThyWhom Sims 3 isn't as much of a problem because it's still on th EA store.
I loved just being able to go anywhere, but it was so taxing on my computer that it actually took longer to play than just loading in and out
@@rosesweetcharlotte if only we could have both and choose an option depending on our computer
@@rosesweetcharlotte To be fair, The Sims 3 was so poorly optimized on PC that it didn't even matter if you had a powerful PC, it would still run poorly. The Sims 3 was very ambitious and probably even ahead of its time, however, I'm pretty sure with modern PC technology it would be possible to bring back open world neighborhoods again without it completely tanking PC performance, so long as they actually optimize the game correctly.

Also, distinct personalities and full attraction system would be hella sick and would make a full game.
they're adding memories. but there was also a mod for that lol
They are adding a chemistry system. But I think it's part of the upcoming expansion pack...

Sims 4 feels empty after the first few months it gets boring and then if you buy packs it gives you some extra stuff to do to kind of try to fill the empty void called the Sims 4 but it doesn't last long
So basically they build a weak foundation and every few months they send a maintenance team to add more content so it doesn't all fall down
If only EA had some brains and heard what the fans wanted and fixed the foundation instead
That’s why mods exist unfortunately
That's why Paralives is coming to end them

@@keystheproblemfanpage4875 no it isn’t.

I've always said that the kids are about 10-13 and then they turn into old looking 14-18 year olds. I think if they're going to have teenagers, they need to either make them look younger than the young adults, or make a preteen option thats like 14-16

The Sims 4 is just dodgy on my computer so maybe when I get a better computer I can play it.

its been 8 years!?
Then i should get my money back for those paxks
i bought sims 4 day 1 and had very little interest in the game then. i was pissed i spent my money on that bs lol. went back to sims 3 immediately. came back to it in 2020 after recent historical events :) and while live mode still leaves much to be desired, build mode is so fantastic. i never get bored of it. i will spend an entire day just building a single house if i have the time for it lol. never was much into building in previous iterations of the game. sims 4 isnt perfect but they rly made build mode a fun and intuitive experience...
Tip: Read cooking skill books while you’re at it.
They take forever to kill unless you're GrayStillPlays.
We definitely need more aspirations and traits. Woefully lacking. I want bravery back outside of the satisfaction points.
I agree 100%
Note the pronoun option is only for languages (at least English) where there are gender-assigned nouns. In Finnish everything is gender-neutral, we don't have she/him, we have "hän" that means just a person
I've been saying this forever 😂 The pronouns are only for Americans

Its also not in my Dutch game (thankfully)
This was honestly such a fun trip down memory lane. I forgot about so many of these changes because so many of them happened over the years!
I would love if they added some more animations and interactions to the base game! Though Ik we got ones for the new scared emotion
Sims 3 was the peak of the series
I think they purposely made the base game very “basic” so that simmers would be obligated to buy the content put out in order to enhance their game experience.
As they saw a good response from sim fans they rewarded with really good upgrades. In turn the CC is not as needed over the years.
I wish they wouldn’t come up with a sims 5. They just need to continue to upgrade the game and release packs, kits, whatever. I personally was not a sims 4 fan. Later in 2018 I started playing and fell in love. I would hate to see sims 4 become less relevant because of a sims 5 just like it happened with the previous versions.
I don't entirely disagree about Sims 5. I'm just not really sure how much you can improve on Sims enough to warrant a 5th game.
I also should mention in sims 3, the clothing editing was out of this world!!!! Now they'res only a few options and we depend on CC creators to have decent clothes
Here in Poland we don't have custom pronouns because every noun and adjective is gendered.
Is quite amazing how this game is out for 8+ years yet cannot polish simple gameplay functions
did u really forgot that u couldnt MOVE DOORS AND >WINDOWS< ANYWHERE
O m g. Yes, I really did forget that 💀💀💀
It’s actually not hard to drown them at all, because they love to go swimming when they’re exhausted and drown within minutes 😍
Ooooo, this is very true! They also love to swim in the winter time 😂💀
when the sims 4 came out in 2014 i was so excited. i had a friend who got it shortly after the release and i still remember what it looked like the first time i saw the game. then i think that same year i got sims 3 from a family friend and i’ve had a sims obsession since
At 6:55 i just wanted to point out that in the edges of swimable lakes/water toddlers can play in the water which uses their swimsuit im pretty sure. In basegame they still dont need their swimsuits which doesnt make sense though lol :)
I didn't think I would watch the whole video but I ended up doing it unconsciously. It was nice.
I hope that the sims 5 is like a new and improved sims 3 asthetic kinda game. The sims 3 is legendary
this video is edited so nicely :)
Glad you think so, thank you!
It feels crazy that I remember all of these updates coming out for the first time and how HUGE it was. I remember what it was like playing without all these features. We had it rough back in the day haha
I remember getting The Sims 4 on the release day and I vividly remember how empty it felt... like there was nothing to do.
what i love about sims4 is they are easy to mod ,like really easy for a full 3D model ,its the easiest than most game . since they give us the tools for converting the 3D model . i've been creating clutters , furniture , additional item , hair and clothing , that so i can make my very own original sims using my own custom design .
This was a lovely video; it really makes one appreciate the game’s evolution despite its very obvious flaws (mostly stemming from the inadequate engine) and the particularly nefarious state it has been in since the late July 2022 update. I had been playing the Sims since 2005 but I only purchased the Sims 4 in November 2020; it’s cool seeing everything that’s now available from the get-go
I played The Sims 4 on its release and it was abysmal. I too had to come back years later after updates and more content in order to play it.
I been playing a lot of sims 3 lately and I enjoy the game play from 3 more than 4, because 4 lacks that open world! But TS2 will always be near and dear to my heart
The toddlers definitely don’t look 4-5 to me. They look 2, 3 at most
I did not know you needed the Skill I thought it was a bug 😄
Moreover, the neighborhood was so "small"...
I can say for sure The Sims is a legendary game that is still unique, it remains a game that no other could replace!
Can't wait for the next Sims game...! See you there! And until then, I wish you your best and nicest experience on The Sims 4! ✌️
I wanna play in the way the 2014 trailer made sims look. The game has never had THAT camera angle
I swear, if The Sims 5 doesn't have weather in the base game...
i feel like current sims 4 culture is just praising the bare minimum because the launch was so bad it couldnt get much worse
I vaguely remember it being said when Seasons came out that if they didnt include it like this, the gallery would completely break (which it already is anyway so)
This makes sense and I'm not too shocked at that reasoning!
100% agree
Yes I love seasons but it's a pack that really should be base game. I mean it's fing weather!!! You shouldn't pay a real life simulatior extra to have rain or winter
I remember how disappointing it was that it didn’t have actual snow accumulation. The snow is as shallow as the Sims 4 gameplay 💀
I got the base game after Get Famous came out and I remember absolutely loving it. I totally get that it was a huge disappointment and genuinely unfinished upon initial release, but now it's easily my favorite base game of the franchise.
Wait how am I just now learning about that skill level tip in CAS after all these years? I learned something new! Thanks :D
The Sims 4 Still no car / vehicle driving and no open world traveling without loading... Hopefully Sims 5 Come Soon with this...
Was it Dan?
(Feels kinda bad sharing this openly on the Internet, but oh well)
I used to play the Sims 4 with many expansions for free in my pc, now that the base game is free, i deleted the old one and installed the original. I got to tell u, I'm struggling. There were some key features to the game that I hadn't realized that were expansions up until now, and I feel like many parts of the game lack something, u know?
I have yet to buy the sims 4 …. and still don’t know if i ever will . 🌚
Don't. It's not worth it. There are sooooooooooooo many bugs, glitches, and dull, limiting elements that you're wayyyyy better of sticking with The Sims 2 and 3.
i remember first getting ts4 in 2014, honestly i loved it for a few hours and then begged my brother to install ts3 back but im glad its waaaaay waaaaay better now
Every time I open this game it is updating. But I love the sims 4. I’ve been playing it since I got it for Christmas right when it came out.
This video is so well made and thorough! I just thought it was gonna be one of those videos where they show gameplay from both times this is much better!
Thank you sm!! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it 💖💖
I remember in 2016 I willingly chose to buy the sims 3 over the sims 4
I personally don't think there needs to be a Sims 5. They just need to do massive bug fixes and revisit old content.
Here they announced not too long ago that the sims 5 is out.
@@Big-Papa-Smurf hahaha, yeah. From a business standpoint, it seems like they would recycle the models and tweak a bit to make new packs and dlcs lol
We need a abstract color wheel for eyes and hair
Yesssssss, we do!
I think we need a blank desert world personally. I also wish we could do the story mode without the quiz. Like I wish we could choose the aspiration, traits, job, skills, and funds
It's too bad they are still missing a spiral staircase, grocery stores, and real hair salon experience.
Yesss, it is too bad 😞
honestly i was just jamming to the music the entire time, these audios are so so nostalgic to me😩 i miss when the game use to play those audios
I miss it too! I love this music
All sims Staley (to what I think)
Sims 1 : the funny mini world that is sims 1
Sims 2 : the huge step for sims and the most loved
Sims 3 : that game where only matpat and how loves lore loves Because that game is full with lore (for my respective)
Sima 4 : the # life
