I’ve never posted a comment with you before and I just wanted to tell you you’re brilliant. I’ve been watching your videos for years now and it’s helped me out so much. You’re a great teacher. Thank you.
Omg! This is amazing!!! I have a granny square blanket I abandoned half finished about 16 years ago. This is making me want to take it apart and reboot it using this joining method!!! 😍
This is by far the most beautiful join I’ve found. It’s a strong connection, looks like an important design feature and is really easy. I’ll use this every time going forward. Very many thanks for sharing.
I love this .:':. Beautiful .:':. Made granny square blankets for years .:':. You have renewed my enthusiasm for grannnies .:':. Thank you dearest crochet friend .:':.
Just what I was searching for. Looks like a nice, sturdy join with a decorative element that doesn't detract or overpower the square design. Thank you!
I absolutely love this technique! Thank you for sharing this! I have some 6 stranded granny squares that I have tucked away because I didn't care for the size it became. I originally sewed it together and just have dreaded putting it back together! Again thank you for this!
Absolutely perfect timing as I just made about 50 squares and was struggling to decide how to join them - this stitch is so effective and your tutorial is as easy to follow as ever, thank you!! :)
Fabulous tutorial... Very well done and extremely easy to follow... Thank You! I will be using this particular join a lot... And I’m excited about making a blanket just like yours it’s beautiful!!!
Hi Sarah! Love that zigzag slip stitch join, it 's so much pretty than the traditional join. Thank you so much for sharing your tutorials with us, I always learn so much from you. Can't wait to try it in my crochet projects. Love from Portugal :)
Just what I've been looking for! Something that won't take loads of yarn, looks good on both sides, lays pretty flat, sturdy, and you make it look easy. Hopefully it IS easy. LOL! Thanks for another clear tutorial!
I would really like to see up close which actual chain you go into at the very start and again when working the vertical line where the join goes under the horizontal row. The thing I particularly liked about your videos when learning to crochet in the past was you showed exactly which stitch or gap to go into with close up shots . Thanks.
Love the stitch !! I will be using this in future although after my last granny square blanket I said I wasn’t doing another because of the joining of them !! You may have just tempted me into another granny square blanket ! 😂💞
Thank you Bella! This makes putting the squares together so much nicer looking on both sides. The yarn colors are gorgeous 💜💜. Beautiful blanket and your work is so well made. All shades of purples are my favorite colors. 💜🤗🙏🧶 from Philipsburg Pennsylvania.
Wonderful tutorial Sarah-Jayne! Such a pretty join! I love your color choices! The purple join really pops!! And your crochet hook matches!! I love it!! Thanks for sharing!!💕💞
I was a bit scared to attach my granny squares together initially, but this video was so easy to follow and I caught on super quick thanks to you! Tysm!
I really love this join. I know a few of my squares have an extra stitch or two. How would you compensate for there being a different number of stitches on the sides of the square when you line them up? It's probably a difference of 2-3 stitches, maximum. I want it to look good because the blanket is a gift. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I think the great thing about crochet is that it's really forgiving, so if you skip a stitch here and there you probably will find that it's not noticeable. To be on the safe side I think I would skip in the corners of the squares 😊
You're welcome, I'm glad you like it 😊 I have a tutorial here which shows you how to sew in your ends securely: ruclips.net/video/6qXEcQj_0L0/видео.html
I don't have a specific one for this blanket, however I do have several border tutorials, if you search bella coco border on RUclips all the different ones will come up and you will be able to have a look through and choose the one that would suit you the best. Let me know which one you choose :)
Hello Bella Coco, thank you for this great tutorial, wondering if the tutorial for the border of this blanket is also still available I am way behind. But have all the squares made just need to join them together and do the border. Thank you.
Who on earth would dislike this video?! Thanks so much for this Sarah-Jayne, I’m making my circle of hope blanket in aran weight yarn, it’s lovely, thank you x
Excited to try this technique. Problem is, when I made my squares, I didn't use a 2-chain corner. I did 3 SC in each corner. I wonder if this will still work if I leave the centre stitch on my corners unworked?
Thank you, I’m glad you like it! If you only have one chain in the corner you could just skip it and move onto the next stitch - the great thing about crochet is that it’s very forgiving, and it should work up looking the same 😊
The join looks absolutely amazing and I'll be making sure to bookmark it for future blanket projects. However as much as I loved it, it was a little difficult to see what you were doing sometimes with the white granny square against a white background.
Love your work and your tutorials are so well done. Thank you. My only trouble was the captions, which are most important, but they blotted out the most impotant section -- the cross join on the corner of the second row of joins. I guess I got the gist of it, but I would like to have seen where the thread was coming from. Such a lovely join thank you very much for sharing.
Thanks for this lovely join technique, I'm going to use it for my granny square blanket. I have a question though, for the corners, does it make any difference if we insert the hook into the chain or the corner space?
You're welcome, I'm glad you like it 😊 If you can work through the actual chain stitches this will make the join look more consistent and neat, however it won't be too noticeable if you would rather work into the corner space instead.
This is a beautiful edge for joining! I still have a question, what if I only have w squares at a time? Can this still be used or must there be almost all squares be ready?
You will only be able to work the zig zag when joining two squares but if you have a look at crab stitch edging, it has a similar effect 😊 You can find my tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/K7XOkueIkNM/видео.html

Yes, you can use this joining method on any squares 😊

Thanks for the video! I'm using it on my block afgan. Did I miss the part where you do something with the ends after the chain 1?

Excited to try this technique. Problem is, when I made my squares, I didn't use a 2-chain corner. I did 3 SC in each corner. I wonder if this will still work if I leave the centre stitch on my corners unworked?
I should have looked through the other comments first. I see you've already answered this question. Lol.
Definitely like this join better than others, do you have a tutorial on the granny square you used
The circle of hope square can be found on my blog at bellacococrochet.com :)
I loveee your work! Can you answer me though? What do I do if I have a chain 1 in the corner? lol I guess I did my corner wrong?
Thank you, I’m glad you like it! If you only have one chain in the corner you could just skip it and move onto the next stitch - the great thing about crochet is that it’s very forgiving, and it should work up looking the same 😊
Thank you.

Very pretty way to join squares.
Thank you! 😊
Could you please do a tutorial of the border around your circle of hope blanket as really like the finish look. Thank you Chris. X
You can find the instructions in the pattern on my blog at bellacococrochet.com their is not a tutorial for the border :)
Bella Coco Thank you for replying so quickly, very grateful.
The join looks absolutely amazing and I'll be making sure to bookmark it for future blanket projects. However as much as I loved it, it was a little difficult to see what you were doing sometimes with the white granny square against a white background.
Thank you :)
If the corner has three chains, you said to leave the middle one “unworked for now”. Would you work in it at some point?
If you have three chains in the corners I would leave the middle one unworked; you shouldn't notice it once all the squares are joined 😊
Thanks
You're welcome :)
Hi Greta you can turn off the subtitles, where it says 'cc' at the bottom of the video click on this and it will turn them off :)
Oh thank you so much Sarah. That will be great. Never knew that before, so you've taught me a new trick as well. Thank you Xx
Love it. Can you tell me where did you get the colorful crochet hook?
If you read the info below the video it shows you that she has her own shop x
This hook was from one of the crochet society subscription boxes :)
Musing here!! Do you think it could be used for hexagons?
I just tried it with my hexagons!!! It works beautifully!!!
Hi
Do you block your square first before joining x pretty colour combo 🧡💛💚💜🤍 thanks for a great tutorial x
I didn't but I would recommend that you do if they are not laying flat, and your'e very welcome :)
This is a beautiful edge for joining! I still have a question, what if I only have w squares at a time? Can this still be used or must there be almost all squares be ready?
Thank you, I'm glad you like it 😊 You don't have to have every square completed, you can join them in columns as you go along.
Can someone tell how to find description box I can never find the stuff added there
If you look underneath the video you will see where it says 'show more' click on this and all the information will come up :)
I would like to add the zig zag to the border. Any idea how I can?
You will only be able to work the zig zag when joining two squares but if you have a look at crab stitch edging, it has a similar effect 😊 You can find my tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/K7XOkueIkNM/видео.html

What if you have 3 chains in a corner? You discussed it at the beginning but when it came to added more to the row you weren't clear which chain to go in.
If you have three chains in the corners I would recommend leaving the chain in the middle and working into the chains either side 😊
The white background with white yarn,,it did'nt show up clearly but I love this stitch its very nice
