That Todd Howard voiced NPC seems to be from the promotion art you can see when you view the screenshots on the game’s Steam store page. He also appears in a loading screen.
I always wondered what scene that loading screen was from, I played oblivion pretty much 100% but I wasn't aware of any imperial npc in full elven armor just standing around in those chorrol style houses, I visited the testing hall but not that cell. I had figured out where all the other loading screenshots were taken but never that one.
The books in testtodcrazy were probably used to benchmark the engine's physics in-game. I'm sure back when Oblivion was in development interacting with that many physics objects was probably really cool. Nowadays our characters sneeze more realistically than those books tumble to the ground.
@@chrisakaschulbus4903 its the same reason as the uncanny valley effect where something is close to reality but not quite which makes it strange/creepy. the testing hall is very close to looking like real oblivion but its all wrong, all wonky, which disturbs our brain

@@user-bx2nd2ko4x really gotta turn on my imagination at age 30 without any voice acting. But if there was any voice acting I’m sure the game would have 3 factions and be half the size lol. Needless to say, still lovin it. I’m actually doing the 3rd trial test right now. Where u have to find a cave or whatever lol. Just blind speed booting all over red mountain seeing if a map marker turns up 😂
Monsters are FAR creepier/scarier in Oblivion than they are in Skyrim, which is what makes them cooler imo. Honestly the whole game of Oblivion, not just the monsters, was just way darker and scarier than Skyrim was. I first played it when I was 11 or so and I recall much of the game scaring me to the point where I would have to get up and take breaks to “remind myself of reality” before I could go back and play more. That is opposed to nowadays where I can play “scary” games for hours on end with no reprieve because I’m such a desensitized degenerate.
@@aubreyh1930 Doubt it. They made ES5 less dark and creepy to appeal to a more mainstream audience to make more money, and that sort of thinking has only gotten worse with Bethesda over the years. ES6 will likely be identical to Skyrim in every way except its a new land with a new skin.
Oblivion was, overall, the better game. Skyrim gave us dual wielding and a much better perk system, but Oblivion had better magic, better story, better enemies, better characters, better locations... Honestly, if they just remade Oblivion with an improved magic/combat system I'd still be playing it
Idk if this was fixed or what because I remember that being an issue for me as a kid but now when I play oblivion on my xbox one (backwards compatibility) I have no problem talking to her even when she scolds me for intruding on her. It doesn’t stop me from doing anything whatsoever. Weird.
I have an idea for a video! Ranking oblivion’s city’s least favourite to most favourite, you would be judging them on how interesting they are, how pretty they are to look at, and the quests! It could be a cool one off, great video as always!
I'm a huge sucker for oblivion and I just love your videos, they never cease to amaze me! Like how much this game has to offer is mind blowing... so many hidden features

I used to be obsessed with the Testing Hall when i younger when i played Oblivion even the one that Morrowind had thought it was just so cool. But i had no idea of this cloud ruler temple area didn't ever know of that!
Before even watching the video I had to say you deserve a lot of love for putting out quality content about such a well-loved game, even though it may not be the hot trending thing right now.
Seeing you upload brings me great joy! Keep up the great work keeping oblivion alive! Btw: I'd really like to hear more of you're hypothetical tes6, the video you've Done about hammerfell was amazing. And I was wondering how you'd handle the guilds. Such as the dark brotherhood and mages guild,
This place was so mythical to my friends and I as kids because we played the 360 version. I remember finally figuring out how to put saves on a USB that would spawn you here. Fun times!
So I was unaware of the xbox glitch to get to the Burma test town and tried it for myself only to find as i kept walking away from the town towards floating trees in the distance there was three castles and more buildings on that loaded in, i had reinstalled my DLC by the time i noticed this which prevents you from using certain doors in the area so im unsure how many doors actually work there but i was able to use one a farm test interior with a zombie in the attic and a bunch if wine by the fire place down stairs. I thought i would share this because im still finding thing out about this game despite how long it's been out now and i love stuff like this. I'm glad too see this content.
It's actually fucking crazy that I have a high standard for graphics when buying new games but I'm also compelled to renter this world full of saturated marshmallow people
Ah, "testing" hall, I see now. I thought behind each door was some sort of creature, each more fierce than the last so you could test your wit, courage and skill.
Each of the each of the deadric princes has their own plane of oblivion over which they rule with unlimited power. For Molag-bal their is the foul Cold Harbour a realm of endless torment and enslavement for the souls unfortunate enough to live there. For hircine their is the hunting grounds, a seemingly endless Forrest where werewolves can hunt for all of eternity with their master, and the realm of the testing hall, is home to the most powerful and dangerous deadric princes to walk the plains of oblivion... GODD HOWARD THE GOD OF GAMES.
God this game is a masterpiece. Even the testing hall blows me away to this day. I hope TES 6 follows in oblivion’s footsteps and doesn’t go it’s own way like Skyrim kind of did.
If you drank the Daedric Lava Whiskey from the Wizards Tower DLC, save the game while the Dremora summoned from it is out, and then disable the DLC, then you will create a permanent Dremora NPC that is hostile towards everyone except you, or whoever summoned it by drinking the whiskey. And if you use the scroll duplication glitch to create multiple copies of the whiskey, then you can potentially create a whole bunch of them that will wander around the area indefinitely.
There’s another door in the Oblivion realm test area. If you were to go downstairs there’s a door leading to a void area with every Daedra enemy in the game and they are hostile. The area is pretty creepy.
Holy shit I'm an Oblivion gaming maniac I played this game countless times and have like 800+ hours time played but I've never knew about that Frostcrag Bruma testing area daaaaamn! I need to test that right away!
It is possible to get into the testing halls on console by hex editing your save. I believe you have to be in a specific spot in the “Abandoned mine” in your save before you hex edit. The guide is floating around still.
You should do a combo video about skyrim's and morrowinds, simply on account of the fact that morrowind's testing maps alone probably wouldnt have enough content to fill a full video. But they're very unique and interesting
Blind guy: "Good to see you."
Me: "oh you got jokes huh?"
The character Todd voiced would be great for a follower
Wilburgur has Todd as companion
May I interest you in Wilburgur's videos?
I wonder if it's possible to port that character into Skyrim it's still the same engine after all.
