Hey. Just wanted to pass this on. U would be perfect to cover this. I live in Pennsylvania. Recently a family friend of ours was murdered by his son and shown on u tube. Justin mohn. We knew him and his family. He killed his father and showed parts of him off on a live stream in u tube where 5k people saw it. Give it a Google. It's a case that needs to be covered. Especially because there were warning signs and mental illness. Thanks Mike
I'm so lucky to have had taxi drivers who say "I'm going to make sure I watch you get in the door alright" . Thank you to those drivers who do that and treat their passengers like a sister/daughter/friend ❤

Things I’ve learned during my younger twenties 1.) Never ever get shit faced drunk ever! Drink get tipsy but never get drunk to the point where you can barely walk! 2.) if you are going out drinking, stick with your friends at all times, stay in the group you arrived in! 3.) NO ONE LEAVES ALONE EVER! You went out as a group you leave with the group! When you do decide to leave, leave together and always call or FaceTime to confirm everyone got home safe! Sounds like a lot, but we women have to super aware of our surrounding at all times but especially at night and drinking. Sad world we live in but this might keep you alive!
I woke up at London Bridge Tube Station after getting pissed once but the furthest I went was Southampton, both from welwyn garden city, Hertfordshire and both by rail and underground without paying g for fares lol
Foxes in the UK typically scream during the night to defend their territory and to attract a mate. Their screams are deafening, terrifying, and high-pitched. The sound is a shrill scream that sounds like someone (woman) crying for help.
There are jackals where I live. A pack of them will make a chorus of wailing at night that would be terrifying to anyone who didn't know what the noise was. My little dog does a pretty good job keeping them out of the garden.
The ones near me in Dorset do. So much so like a woman in agony that even though I know it's foxes I still want to go and help. Depends on the fox, I guess. @Ardwick-Crome
and like the chances that the roads she just so happened to walk down had no cameras omgg! It terrifies me how often this could be happening anywhere. He had a FAMILY, it’s just like.. he’d been getting away with this for a while :(((
A majority are men, though women tend to prey on people in different ways. Not with brute force, but manipulation, subversion, and other tactics. There have also been numerous cases of women helping “entertain” their partners (or random men) by helping them prey on their children, or other children. Point is, there are all kinds of nasty, worthless predators out there, but a great majority of those that use brute force are men.
This was really well made/produced, well done. My children go to school 10 minutes walk from where Libby was last seen and I now live near to the park where the monster pushed her in the river. It's hard not to think about her when we're walking our dog on the river bank at the opposite end of the park. RIP Libby.
Don’t EVER leave your friends when you’re out until you all know you will ALL get home safe. Especially if they are intoxicated. They’re way more vulnerable.
I went to college in a small town. This was pre-Uber days and the town had no cab service. At the young age of 20 I made a very poor decision. While not inebriated I was not sober either. I couldn’t find my roommates, I was tired; I just wanted to go home. It was only a few blocks I thought it would be fine. It wasn’t fine. My heart cries for this young lady and her family.
@@AMorrisey I was assaulted, was treated like crap by the police. They were very concerned about the dress I was wearing more than the assault. I told them to piss off. My friends protected me the rest of the semester, got counseling. Graduated joined the military to kick some ass. Obtained my doctorate in clinical neuropsychology. Went to work for Veterans Affairs and wrote the first Military sexual trauma program for veterans. PTSD still kicks my ass some days. But no one is going to take power away from me. I'm from Poland and I can say by his letter, not only does he not speak English after living for 7 years in UK, but he also struggles very much with Polish.
@@chadsproI don’t think it should be mandatory, however you should be able to pick up the language within a year. 7 years w/o learning anything is just lazy and intentional
@@Nesia187 I disagree. If you move to a country it is your job to learn the language to fit in. They are accepting you in and it is the bare minimum you do in return. It’s basic respect and courtesy, otherwise don’t move there.
@@chadspro Dumb opinion. Some countries do not have an official language. The United States for example doesn't have an official language. English is spoken there primarily, but that language itself is literally borrowed from England. By your logic, everyone should learn how to speak the many different languages spoken by the Native Americans. You think the colonizers who took over the US cared about respect or fitting in? If that's what they want today, they should have set a better example or precedent.
Mike, I’ve watched you for years and I’m a huge fan of your channel. I’ve been waiting for the day you would make a video on Libby. She’s one of my closest friends and meant an awful lot to me. It was 5 years ago yesterday that we lost her and it still hurts like a bitch 😢 Thank you for bringing awareness to the issue of women’s safety 🖤
I’m so sorry. This must be heartbreaking for you. I’m from Hull and this was so terrible when this happened. She seemed like a lovely girl. May she Rest In Peace 🙏🏻
I'm so sorry this happened...it's just crazy. Do you have any ideas why she decided n-o-t to go inside her house/apt/room and where she might have been going? Maybe she didn't want the night to end, as they say, and there was a pub nearby she also frequented?
I live in Hull and it was just awful when this happened. I used to go to that club all the time in my younger days, it makes you realise just how vulnerable you are when you find yourself alone (separated from friends) on nights out. Thanks so much for covering this Mike as no one seems to talk about it. Stay safe out there people 🙏🏻
Even after 27 years lock up he'll still need an interpreter, he had no interest in becoming a member of the community. Feel sorry for his wife and kids.
That was horrible of the club to kick her out; I would sue them. They should have had their own car to take her home. Just like the gentleman's club, where if one appears underdressed, they go get you a suitcoat to don. Wellies exhibited the antithesis of hospitality, blaming the victim by judging her on . . .what? Was she talking loudly? Swaying on her feet? Send a note in to the bartender to just give her alcohol free beverages and keep an eye on her!
It’s up to the bouncers to refuse entry through intoxication, age, behaviour etc. It’s not up to them to escort them to a safe place, that was down to herself, or escorts. If they had let her in, and she had gotten raped in the toilets, by a dick head, you’d rightly be saying the bouncers should be sued for letting her in 🤷🏼♀️ damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Sometimes is actually the perverts fault.. x
@@Milly-ht4lo yes but a classier place would have handled it better; let them in; serve them non-alcoholic beverages and see how they comport themselves! These bouncers made a snap decision that broke up a party.
Most probably, he can speak everyday English, but as it was a police investigation, a safer option was to use a proffessional translator (in case he didn't understand some legal stuff - or at least claim later that he didn't understand something)
He can understand those specific words "r4pe" "murd3r" "Libby Squire". Those are words people likely hear a lot in TV/movies/news etc. And know plus the name he obv knew. He is a sadistic horrific human being and a liar and a phoney (his poor wife and kids) but thats an unfair conclusion to baselessly draw.
It’s really frustrating that they didn’t give the university a warning for the students. I recently had someone arrested for doing what he was. I was pleasantly surprised that the police take it really seriously now because they consider it an escalation crime - i.e. they get worse and worse over time. When I was young that sort of thing was brushed off.
@@robgrey6183Say you're messing around in your backyard and someone spots a snake behind you. You're busy doing whatever it is you're doing and snakes are just not on your mind, you know snakes are often found outside but you aren't even thinking about that right now because what you're doing is pretty entertaining. Someone says "There's a snake behind you!" so you stop what you're doing and move away from the snake. Will you never go to that spot to do that thing again in case there might be a snake there? Or would you maybe give it some space until you know the snake is gone, make it a space less likely to attract snakes, and be more watchful for snakes in general now that you know for sure they're around? It's mostly rhetorical but I do hope I've explained it in a way that makes sense and helps you understand why talking about it is good, it's about harm reduction.
I had a guy flash me from his car. I realized he was up to something, but he cut me off so I was forced to see him. I ran behind the car to get his tag number and he tried to back over me. I called the police, and they told me not to worry about it. I was in my late 20s, tiny and carrying a backpack. Apparently this guy had been flashing girls from the middle school down the block. They acted like it wasn't a big deal, and said he probably mistook me for a teenager. They didn't even take a report. I never found out if he was caught.

As a resident of Hull, this episode was close to home and brought back so many of the emotions felt by many people here at that time. Mike you’ve done a fantastic job covering the case, this is the first time I’ve dared to watch anything about Libby, but I knew she was in safe hands with you. Thank you 🙏🏻
Agreed 100%. Plus feel like he really does appreciate each and every one of us and hopes that none of us ever become the subject of one of his videos. Ya gotta love Mike!
Mike, thanks for still being the same you after all these shows and popularity! Your charm and gift of storytelling is exactly why we all love you. Thanks for not slicking yourself up and staying true. You are the best!
I expect the friends were a bit drunk themselves so were not thinking straight either, Maybe the best thing to do is not to drink to excess! Plus did they not put her in a taxi to go home?
As a young woman in college, and now as a middle-aged woman, if I come across a woman alone and stumbling drunk at night, I ask where she is trying to go and if I can help get her home. It’s only happened 4 times over decades, 2 of which were in college, and one said no (she seemed to think she knew me and my name was “Jenna”…it isn’t) so I just trailed far behind her until she connected with friends. Yea, you can say people shouldn’t drink to incapacitation, but people miscalculate, and the price should never be that some predator spots them alone. And I have walked at night alone as a woman all my life without incident, but I wouldn’t want to try it drunk.
THANK YOU! I know I personally don’t like drinking in excess (I don’t really like not being in control of myself), and I make a point to try not to get drunk. Didn’t stop me from having an, as you brilliantly worded it, miscalculation! My sister was drinking heavily and the top, and I thought I could go shot for shot with her. Yeah, I don’t remember that night at all! THANKFULLY this was in our family home, because I know I wouldn’t be able to trust my sister to watch over an absolutely smashed me, but that experience was enough for me to learn. Besides, drinking alcohol, even to the point of getting drunk, doesn’t mean you’re consenting to anything else. I think it’s so weird how some people say “you chose to drink!” in response to people being SA’d while intoxicated. That individual consented to DRINKING, not SEX. How that argument can be made is absolutely baffling to me as they are different, there’s not a single bit of logic to this line of reasoning. All is does is take away responsibility from the abuser, who deserves the ENTIRETY of the blame. And THAT is the problem with victim blaming. Sure you can think what someone did is stupid, but nobody deserves to be hurt, period. A victim didn’t CHOOSE to be victimized, and blaming them removes accountability from the attacker, who alone should carry the weight of responsibility for the attacker’s OWN deplorable actions. We want folks to be personally accountable? Then hold violent thugs accountable, not victims!
I’m from Hull & when this case happened parents would not let their children out of their sight for weeks! I’m 22 and my parents don’t let me go out unless they’re taking me, I’m with my friends & they’re picking me up… it’s the same for the vast majority of families in hull now. We didn’t take this case lightly at all ❤
These stories make me mad.😢 I was left one night because my friends assumed i went home . I ended up waking to rain falling on my face in the back of a parking lot between 2 truck trailers. It was a Putt Putt arcade but the trailers were always in the very back of parking lot. I was sick and scared. I had to walk to find a payphone and call for someone to pick me up. Yes I'm old....
Yes well I feel for you big time my daughter was out with wrong crowd so dangerous if I didn’t have my car damn don’t know what would happen but she’s safe in New Zealand with a good man thank you lord I just wish I had a car again I hate York it’s not what it seems trust me and I live in good area!
That must be why serial killers were so successful then...girls didnt have their phones on them they had to stumble around drunk trying to find one. I am not that old but for some reason when i didnt have my phone on and lived in my first apartment in the hood i had to walk about a mile to a payphone. To call people to come get me after my bf wrecked my car and went back to his moms house. Smfh 😂 i lived.
@user-hr4rv8rf1w I learned the hard way and I grew up on the poor side of town so I was street smart, but no common sense at that age. I don't know how I survived most days.
He is a monster. This case really struck a cord. It was just so senseless. Actually some excellent detective work by Humberside police. This case could have remained unsolved had they not persisted. When you read through his crimes and the gradual escalation, he is super dangerous. ALWAYS make sure your friends get home! What a foul creep.
That’s a beautiful comment but you can’t be sorry for another’s actions especially terrible ones. I have said the same myself before but we can’t think like that because it’s just a stereotype ❤
This reminds me why if I go out with friends … we always stick together. Even when leaving, we make sure everyone gets to their cars & call making sure everyone has made it home safely. We even have a group where our locations are on .
Yeah, I've never been in a group where we've left someone outside, on the rare occasions anyone got stopped from entering a bar or pub or told to leave. Not judging. Sounds like her friends were really attentive and supportive and just didn't realise the danger.
But they did make sure she got on the taxi and then texted both her and her flatmate to make sure she made it home. Once they realized she didn't, they immediately notified the police. In some of these cases, the friends are careless and uncaring, but not this one. They really cared for her, what more could they do? Sure, one of them could go in the taxi with her and make sure she actually got inside then get back to the pub, but I don't think it should be expected unless she was so drunk she couldn't even walk or something. It didn't seem that bad... it's just unfortunate, really.
My cousin was raised in a good home. He was In jail more than he was out. He was into everything. He did everything but murder. He died from heart failure at 50. He lived a rough life. In his case he lived in the worst neighborhood in our area. I lived just 15 minutes away in a good neighborhood.
Imagine you have TWO KIDS with a s*xual predator and you’re not even from this country. That would be terrifying bc I’d always be thinking what if my kids grow up to be weirdos too.
i remember this case, it was only a few years ago, and i always wondered about the insanity that night, she was dropped off at her door, but didn't go in, and then she was preyed upon by a monster, it's pure insanity. my heart breaks for her family, and all her friends who got her a taxi and thought she was heading home
@@chasnfireflies317It seems apparent that her remains were on their way to the North Sea. I couldn’t say what opportunities arose for her to be discovered. Things would be very different if something as simple as the weather caused her to go unnoticed. No body translates to not much of a case. Justice might not have been served if no DNA was found. As heartbreaking as finding Libby must’ve been for her loved ones, she could then be mourned proper, allowing friends and family to say goodbye.
@krisbacks amen! That was exactly what I was thinking. It has to be brutal to them to imagine her the way she was found but the not knowing has got to be maddening! I've lost two daughters, both at 21. I visualize it more than I care to. I am grateful to not have to also wonder. It sounds like a horrible and heart breaking situation!
Thanks for always being so respectful to the victims. Prayers to Libby, and her loved ones. As disturbing as these cases are, you have such a comforting way about you. I’ve been going through some dark days, and it may seem counter productive to watch these stories. I can’t help it because you are the one telling them. I’m sure it gets heavy sometimes processing these stories to honor the victims. Thanks for being here Mike, and being you. My favorite part besides your humor is “take care of yourselves and each other, because, I love ya” the signature wink at the end is a staple to look forward to too. We love ya too Mike. Take care of yourself.
Yeah, I remember it well. No longer live there but, as my hometown, I had many friends from back home really upset. Wellie had been one of my haunts over 40 yrs ago. It was a spit and sawdust kinda dive, full of students.
I remember when this case happened, my partner at the time was friends with Libby. I will always remember turning on the news to hear her body was found, and everyone around me just crumbling in emotions. Please be safe on a night out, always make sure your friends or loved ones get home safe. R.I.P Libby
I have been putting off reporting a peeping Tom that I was victim of for a month and this video has finally given me the fire to report him. Thank you.
Myself and a friend both walked home down Newland Avenue at around midnight that night. We were both studying social work and felt the guilt of not walking a slightly different street at a slightlly different time and thought maybe we couldve helped, but right around then Libby had turned down someone else's help, so maybe we'd just have more to regret. I now work for a domestic abuse charity and i think of Libby often. People may question her choices that night, but we all know it's nothing different from things students do every single academic year. Knowing this (not amazing, but very busy and well-lit) area myself, i'd have never ever thought i could be in such danger. Not that any of that matters, because it shouldnt be that women need to strategise their entire lives around avoiding violence.
Actually, men are homicide victims at a much greater rate than women are. No human should be prey for another, but there are a lot of predators out there and they tend to prey on the vulnerable.
Idk if it's "the whole life" if you have a look on being safe in rather unsafe circumstances. Yes in a flowerfluffysuperduperworld you wouldn't need that but here we are. Just stating "something shouldn't be" doesn't shifts reality so better take care at least a bit i guess?
@Flaschenteufel Oh i'm sorry, I wasn't trying to solve violence against women in a RUclips comments section, I guess that was my mistake here. I was saying the that victims of violent crime should not be the ones responsible for preventing violent crime. Pretty simple really and if you disagree, I'll happily let you know you're part of the problem :)
@@kirstier4873 people these days: "i want to act as irresponsible as possible and if it makes me do a belly flop into poo IT'S YOUR FAULT" :D ...and yes, sure, it's only women that have to be careful in this world. Nothing would EVER happen to a man, right?^^ Jesus this mindset is so dumb.
@Flaschenteufel ... I mean I literally just didn't say any of these things. I care about issues affecting men, and i think it's a very feminist idea to say that women ARE capable of being violent and dangerous towards men. I'm afraid you're arguing with someone who isn't here.
Thank you for always highlighting the victim's lives and personalities. It's one of the reasons I love watching your content. Yes, you talk about the perpetrator, but you make sure that the victims aren't forgotten.
I vaguely remember one case, where the friends actually made sure their friend, who was drunk, got home safely, but after a while she got out of her house and it didn't end up well. But yeah, it shouldn't discourage us from taking care of our friends.
Was awful, everyone lived on edge here and hoped she was found. Was so sickening to hear what had actually happened. Hull still remembers her going past her bench memorial
Her friends did everything right, why she walked away from home,is as simple as she felt like a walk n she was upset…HE is totally RESPONSIBLE for libbys murder n rape..he should never be released. RIP libby, forever young…🙏🏼💔
A few years ago a similar thing happened to a friend of mine, I wasn't out with them on that night, but i still had to pause at 5:25. It quickly removed the 'it would never happen here/it would never happen to us' ideal Bless you for going over Libby's story
This happened in my county.. utterly heartbreaking that Libby’s light was snuffed out like this. I worked in the city centre and would work late in the office at night before catching the train home, after this.. the streets were abandoned when it started to get dark. And those who went out, went out in groups and even carried mace and pocket knives on our keychains. It changed the entire atmosphere and culture of the city. It’s not fair to blame her friends, how could have anyone have known this would go on to happen to her? Poor lass deserved better.
Thanks for covering this, I was waiting for someone to do it. It hits home because I went to uni there, lived round the corner and had friends living on Wellesley Avenue. It was shocking when I heard what had happened.
If anyone is wondering why she was wandering the streets and didn't go in to her house when the cab dropped her off she didn't have her keys and was locked out.
Unfortunately, it's fairly common, or used to be. It was a big controversy as people were angry at the parents of a young murdered high school student of a very high profile case here in southern Ontario, Canada. She'd been locked out.
oh ok. i remember being locked out of my house and wndering the streets too instead of making calls to friends or family or trying a window, or breaking in, or sleeping on the porch or sleeping at a friends or exes or . Drinking or not... she had to know that predators are lurking in the UK.....could be a cop in uniform or a kid from the uni or just a taxi driver .......could be anyone.
@@VioletJoy I'm just going by what I saw in another documentary on this case a few years ago. House mate maybe didn't hear her knocking..bell wasn't working maybe? Who knows
Another great report and a very sad story, great police and forensics all let down by yet another ridiculous sentence. RIP Libby, you deserved far better justice.
Had a fox in my yard last spring screaming at my cat and carrying on. It sounded like laughter mixed with screams. They do, unfortunately, make calls that sound an awful lot like a woman or a child screaming. Some calls coyotes make can be similar too. I don’t know how common foxes are where this took place, but I could see the person making that mistake.. especially if the screaming stopped pretty quickly.
Mike, I don't normally put my thoughts out at random, but man, your dedication to the subject is so very admirable. I can't thank you enough for your trips on the scene, the real photos... It's so thorough. Thank you.
I live in Chicago and we have many, many people here who have emigrated from Poland. They are known to learn and speak English rather quickly- like in a year. I found it odd that he came to England as a teenager, lived there 7 years but needed a translator. I also noticed when he was being read the charges in the car he seemed to follow along, even laughing when the man said "the r and m of Libby..." And in his story about being with her sounded like he was able to communicate just fine.
And ex-boyfriend of mine used to make sure that I got home safely and that I went to the door and he waited and then he would call me also if we drove separately he'd make sure I got my car okay and had me call him when I got home... that's what we should be doing . Check on each other like that and make sure that we're safe!!! ❤
I mean they called the other roommate to see if she got home later that night when they couldn’t get a hold of her. I think they did all that they could. She didn’t have her keys someone mentioned, so that’s why she couldn’t get in. Have to take some personal responsibility sometimes and make sure you don’t get drunk enough to lose your keys, she could have called another taxi to take her back instead of walking as well. Have to keep yourself safe not rely on others to do so. Too many weirdos out there waiting for opportunities like this unfortunately.

11:58 Once I woke up at night from what I thought was a woman screaming outside. But few seconds later thought it sounds bit too strange for a woman. And then I saw a fox running past my window. That’s when I first learnt how a fox sounds. We have them around here just like in many other English towns. I’m not surprised people confused her screams with a fox. Unfortunately for Libby. Such a sad story.
Being from the UK i remember when this case was all over the news, even recall watching some of the reports featured in this video when they were broadcast live. There's a wonderful documentary on this case named Libby, Are You Home Yet? Very much recommend for anybody wanting to know more about the story. Rest In Peace Libby
Oh wtf! I'm a Hull lass. I remember this case, year before lock down. I used to go to the Wellie, Blue Lamp, and a club called Silhouettes, all along Spring Bank. Orchard Park and Bransholme are tasty areas. Hull has some issues, especially after the loss of the North Sea fishing industry. Always among the top ten of social deprivation related issues.
Hull was voted the worst place to live in England, by its own residents. Being from Hull myself, I can say it's not without its issues, but compared to other larger cities it is relatively quiet and safe. either that or i'm used to it. I'm surprised you didn't have more of a dig at us Mike, unlike other people who happily degrade us. I do remember the libby case fairly well. Her friends created a memorial of an angel painted on the wall where she was last seen.
I see these exact same scenarios happen soooo much!!! It's really sad how many "friends" don't make sure their friends get home safely. It drives me nuts, because they are easily preventable. My Condolences and Prayers to all The Families and friends of Libby and other people who suffered similar fates, Rest in Peace.
@FengShuiHomewithMilou, I hadn't eaten since yesterday early afternoon and was about to make lunch. I saw Mike's video and waited until it was over to eat. It's 1:30 in the afternoon so it's been 24 hours since I've eaten but That Chapter is more important than eating. LOL!
i was leaving work at 4.30am after working in a night club, a car pulls up on a empty road asking me for a pass machine! two polish skinheads get out of the car suspecting i was probably a drunk girl, i ran 10yards to where my car was, got in and locked the door, the 2 guys had the boot open and just jumped back into the car and drove off.. it scared the crap out of me.. they randomly looking for a pass machine at 430am
Thanks for sharing! I think we need to share our stories if for no other reason then to help, support and warn others. Your experience must have been terrifying! I’m soooo glad you were able to escape whatever horrible plan they had in store. Your intuition was probably life saving. From your details, it was beyond suspect and frightening. I had a similar experience leaving work very late in the evening. No street lights in the parking lot. When I got to my car which was a long way from from my works exits I went to put my stuff in the back seat before getting in the drivers seat and I heard footsteps behind me getting closer. There was no people or cars in the parking lot. To add to my fear I was responsible for thousands of dollars in the bank pouch from work for me to put in the bank deposit box on my way home. I was bent down with the back door fully open. I was kinda half in the back seat my feet and legs still outside. I was so scared with the sound of steps getting louder, faster and closer especially since he seemed to come out of nowhere. (He was alone and no other cars were in the lot (he wasn’t going to get in a vehicle)😮🤔. AlI could think was I’m in big trouble. For a split second I pictured someone pushing me right into the back seat from behind and attacking me in my own car. I didn’t have much time to think about my options. I just reacted by diving into the back, locking myself in, climbing into to the front seat as fast as possible & starting the car to get the heck outta there. Once in the car I was able to see what looked like a pretty big burly guy still walking towards my car. As I started the car turned on my headlights i was pushing on the horn…which made him slow down and sort of scan the area like he was making sure no one was around then he kinda watched me adjusted his path as if if he wasn’t coming my way. At least that was my impression at the time. Anyway, maybe I’ve seen/heard far too many true crime stories. I wasn’t taking any chances. It may have been completely innocent, with nothing nefarious intended, but it scared me to death. I was hoping to drive off quickly and at least make enough noise & ruckus to scare the perpetrator, and alert bystanders if any. Even if I looked like a crazed, paranoid, lunatic it’s better to be safe then sorry.🌸
0:01 You know Mike, I've been watching you from your awkward days , watched you blossom into this crazy courageous guy digging through all the filth of humanity to bring awareness to these crimes, these cowards and things to look out for. Crazy how somebody could be married to such a monster and they have no idea of who they really are. Dude threw away his beautiful wife and son and for what? The smile on his face when the arresting cop mentions Libby Squires name is really damning…
@@markbaker5599Both AJ and Jen said when asked what his favorite true crime RUclips channel answered “Mike over at That Chapter.” Mike also got plenty of love on the 16k chat. They’re starting a true crime channel I believe it’s going to be called “why files,” If I remember correctly.
I remember watching a documentary about Libby Squire and the Taxi Driver who drove her home was really messed up over this. Understandably so. Never leave your friends alone, never just put them in a taxi alone, if one of you is going home, go in a group. Having a night out cut short is better than something like this happening again.
❤ thank you so much! Am glad you had a good experience in TZ, do come again and bring your friends 😊, I lived in England for a decade, it was nice but I missed my home alot 😊 was coming back every year, once or twice per yr!
Thank you Mike. Another disgusting monster off the streets. So sad. Maybe if the police had been putting out warnings, specific ones about THAT monster in THAT area and at THAT time in their history, this young lady would not have been alone at all. I hope she is at peace now. Condolences to all her loved ones. One monster down but at the expense of another good person which is a loss for possibly the whole world. Who knows what she might have accomplished?🙏🏼💔🕊️
Legit at work listening to you, Mike. Just finished your video on Robert Mone and saw this one just got posted! Thank you for the amazing content! Keep it going, bro!
I love your videos! You are so charming and I enjoy listening to you narrate your crime stories. Love your personality. I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel!🤗🤟🏼
My heart goes out to Libby’s family. I hope and pray they are somehow able to heal as time passes. I can only imagine that healing will take a long time as parents can never truly get past the loss of a child. After being with two of my close friends who each lost 2 children in tragic events, I learned that they eventually found peace and acceptance over many years. I’m praying that God comforts them in the way that only He can. Whether or not they have faith in God, I hope they know that people from thousands of miles away are sending so much love their way! ❤❤❤
Second you said Kingston Upon Hull, I thought 2 things: "Ew, Hull.", and "I know exactly where this is going." I lived nearby at the time (off Newland Ave) and it was absolutely awful - like a lot of other people have said already, it sent shockwaves throughout the area.
A young woman in a vulnerable state alone late at night. It's a recipe for disaster. I've never gone to any party where I couldn't leave if my friends wanted to go home. Safety first, there are really monsters out there waiting for vulnerable people to prey on.
I've been watching your videos for a long while now. Thanks for covering this case. I'm from Hull and this case shocked me to the core. Libby deserved to be safe here.
if your friend is not allowed into a place yall were planning on going, and instead of leaving with them, you still go on in and leave them behind -- you're a bad friend.

“He said he had problems controlling his ‘urges’; I’d say if you’re the kind of person who has urges like that, that YOU’RE the problem.” 😂😂
Seek some help then, phsyco. Like that's an excuse. 🤬
Best option: do. not. drink.
Foxes in the UK typically scream during the night to defend their territory and to attract a mate. Their screams are deafening, terrifying, and high-pitched. The sound is a shrill scream that sounds like someone (woman) crying for help.
They do the same here in Wyoming, and we have many of them. Can be startling when you're out in the dark feeding the horses.
Sounds like the coyotes where I live. There was a pack outside my bedroom window screaming like that one night. I’ve never been so startled
There are jackals where I live. A pack of them will make a chorus of wailing at night that would be terrifying to anyone who didn't know what the noise was. My little dog does a pretty good job keeping them out of the garden.
That’s soo true. I live directly behind a park and it’s constant
The ones near me in Dorset do. So much so like a woman in agony that even though I know it's foxes I still want to go and help. Depends on the fox, I guess. @Ardwick-Crome
This case really shows how opportunistic these predators are.
Maybe, if you're a woman, you don't get blackout drunk in the middle of the night?
And Its always MEN..or at least 99% of the time.
and like the chances that the roads she just so happened to walk down had no cameras omgg! It terrifies me how often this could be happening anywhere. He had a FAMILY, it’s just like.. he’d been getting away with this for a while :(((
you haven't seen snap huh? the percentage of women doing murder is higher @@LovenEverythingNails
*Well said, too many people these days don't look out for the very people their supposed to*
A golden rule when I raved with my friends.
Agreed, i always hear people say i sent them in an uber, and im thinking they could barely walk, wtf good is an Uber once they reach the destination
Check out Victor Peña Charlestown ma. He kidnapped a drunk girl held her and s assaulted he over days until police found her.
This period lol it's such a given
I went to college in a small town.
I hope you are ok now 🙏

And then what? Cliffhanger

@@AMorrisey I was assaulted, was treated like crap by the police. They were very concerned about the dress I was wearing more than the assault. I told them to piss off.
Poles are the Mexicans of Europe.
Embarrassing. If you migrate it should be mandatory you speak the native language.
I'm sorry that you went through this 😢.
Deepest condolences, Hollie. You're a good friend to speak up for her. I'm so very sorry for your loss 🙏 😔
I'm so sorry this happened...it's just crazy. Do you have any ideas why she decided n-o-t to go inside her house/apt/room and where she might have been going? Maybe she didn't want the night to end, as they say, and there was a pub nearby she also frequented?
I'm so sorry for your loss. Very sad.
Sometimes is actually the perverts fault.. x
Truly Criminal channel also covered Libby ❤
@@Milly-ht4lo yes but a classier place would have handled it better; let them in; serve them non-alcoholic beverages and see how they comport themselves! These bouncers made a snap decision that broke up a party.
@21:38 he smiles at what the policeman charges him with, even BEFORE it is TRANSLATED for him
He UNDERSTANDS ENGLISH PERFECTLY 😮
Yes, I thought the same thing. He was delighting in it!
Most probably, he can speak everyday English, but as it was a police investigation, a safer option was to use a proffessional translator (in case he didn't understand some legal stuff - or at least claim later that he didn't understand something)
Stalling for time playing the game disgusting as it looks/sounds
If they had warned the students, do you think they would have stopped partying and getting blackout drunk? I doubt it.
No. But a little awareness goes a very very long way. Even most drunk people walk on the sidewalk.. out of traffic.
It's mostly rhetorical but I do hope I've explained it in a way that makes sense and helps you understand why talking about it is good, it's about harm reduction.

libby's friends are such dedicated friends. there immediate action and texting her plus the follow up with the roommates is incredible.

Never leave a drunk friend alone. Rest in peace, Libby.
This. Some friends. And I don't buy the "she was just a little drunk" line. She was blackout drunk or that bouncer would never have turned her away.
You are right even no matter what, This is so sad.
Absolutely... Her friends will never get over it, and rightfully so.
I expect the friends were a bit drunk themselves so were not thinking straight either, Maybe the best thing to do is not to drink to excess! Plus did they not put her in a taxi to go home?
@@csh43166 It was not there fault, no ones fault except the killers. Bad decisions are made when people drink too much.
You feel ok and that one extra drink tips you over to be drunk, especially when fresh air hits you.
😇

These stories make me mad.😢 I was left one night because my friends assumed i went home . I ended up waking to rain falling on my face in the back of a parking lot between 2 truck trailers. It was a Putt Putt arcade but the trailers were always in the very back of parking lot. I was sick and scared. I had to walk to find a payphone and call for someone to pick me up. Yes I'm old....

That must be why serial killers were so successful then...girls didnt have their phones on them they had to stumble around drunk trying to find one. I am not that old but for some reason when i didnt have my phone on and lived in my first apartment in the hood i had to walk about a mile to a payphone.
You’d expect someone to be ok getting a taxi straight home
But they did make sure she got on the taxi and then texted both her and her flatmate to make sure she made it home. Once they realized she didn't, they immediately notified the police. In some of these cases, the friends are careless and uncaring, but not this one. They really cared for her, what more could they do? Sure, one of them could go in the taxi with her and make sure she actually got inside then get back to the pub, but I don't think it should be expected unless she was so drunk she couldn't even walk or something. It didn't seem that bad... it's just unfortunate, really.
Just imagine being a parent and realising you raised a kid that turned into this monster?😬😬😬
Sometimes, they contributed to this outcome.
That would be terrifying bc I’d always be thinking what if my kids grow up to be weirdos too.
just imagine being a parent and realising you raised a sloot. Equally as terrifying.

Yeah. Her family is surely hurting. I wish them peace at least knowing. Not knowing would be horrible.
@@chasnfireflies317It seems apparent that her remains were on their way to the North Sea. I couldn’t say what opportunities arose for her to be discovered. I have been putting off reporting a peeping Tom that I was victim of for a month and this video has finally given me the fire to report him. Thank you.
Report it and get a ring doorbell camera they have surprisingly good resolution and you can keep any pictures on your phone.
@@kirstier4873 people these days: "i want to act as irresponsible as possible and if it makes me do a belly flop into poo IT'S YOUR FAULT" :D
...and yes, sure, it's only women that have to be careful in this world.
It quickly removed the 'it would never happen here/it would never happen to us' ideal
Bless you for going over Libby's story
Someone was home tho? Remember her friends called them to ask if she had made it home yet when she didn’t text back
But her roommates were home.
oh ok. i remember being locked out of my house and wndering the streets too instead of making calls to friends or family or trying a window, or breaking in, or sleeping on the porch or sleeping at a friends or exes or .
What evidence proved he raped her or that she was killed and he did it?
Dang Mike, you gave me chills with your delivery of "..if that happened, I wouldn't be telling this story. " 😢
Fox noises can be very startling i remember my mum rang the police once as she thought someone was hurt
Good on her. Better that and be mistaken than ignore cries for help as so often happens.
We rung the cops when we heard a woman screaming in our woods. Turns out it was just raccoons. I was mortified at the sound.
I also noticed when he was being read the charges in the car he seemed to follow along, even laughing when the man said "the r and m of Libby..."
And in his story about being with her sounded like he was able to communicate just fine.
Do not leave your friends alone! Especially drunk friends! RIP Libby 🖤
You probably thought he was controlling or acting like your dad tho ?
@@MightyoNe-MiT1I’ve been in relationships where this is normal and i didn’t feel this way. I would’ve if they did other controlling things, but this to me just is rly thoughtful and wholesome
@user-ux3qu7mr2m why would you think that? It warms my heart when someone tells me to text to let them know I got home safely.
@@farmhouseonthemountain
Because I have had GFs tell me not to do that lol .
I'm a protective person, and that gets confused for controlling sometimes.
It's not that I don't trust the woman, I just dont trust the world. Lol
Libby we will never forget you. Your family loved you and you looked like such a sweet person. Rest in peace.
Twice a week i enjoy my cup of morning tea even more with Mike. Love from Australia. ❤
Being from the UK i remember when this case was all over the news, even recall watching some of the reports featured in this video when they were broadcast live. There's a wonderful documentary on this case named Libby, Are You Home Yet? Very much recommend for anybody wanting to know more about the story. Rest In Peace Libby
This is my home town it was awful.Libby will always be in our hearts ❤️
What a horrible tragic ending to an evening out with friends!
Thanks for covering this Mike.❤❤
I see these exact same scenarios happen soooo much!!! It's really sad how many "friends" don't make sure their friends get home safely. It drives me nuts, because they are easily preventable. My Condolences and Prayers to all The Families and friends of Libby and other people who suffered similar fates, Rest in Peace.
Thank you for going back to titles that don't give the whole plot away. : )
Mike saying he loves us is the perfect ending to a bad day.
Even on a good day!! We must be positive when communicating with each other. 🤗💜

Oh I followed this case. It made me so terribly sad. Poor Libby.
Yes it's Mike time!!!! Threw my laundry to the side and grabbed my tea and time to watch that chapter! Let's give it a gooooo!❤
LOL!
This is where I live, this was devastating. What a vile animal he was 🤬
Monster.
i was leaving work at 4.30am after working in a night club, a car pulls up on a empty road asking me for a pass machine! two polish skinheads get out of the car suspecting i was probably a drunk girl, i ran 10yards to where my car was, got in and locked the door, the 2 guys had the boot open and just jumped back into the car and drove off.. it scared the crap out of me.. they randomly looking for a pass machine at 430am
Also of males seem to be born wrong. I wouldn't want to be alone with them, women are the superior gender

I am excited to hear your take on this one! Thanks for the video!
I remember watching a documentary about Libby Squire and the Taxi Driver who drove her home was really messed up over this. Understandably so.
Never leave your friends alone, never just put them in a taxi alone, if one of you is going home, go in a group. Having a night out cut short is better than something like this happening again.
I'm out fishing for the weekend, just set up and got into my bed wrapped up. Opened up RUclips to this gem 🙌
Thanks, Mike

Thank you Mike. Another disgusting monster off the streets. So sad. Maybe if the police had been putting out warnings, specific ones about THAT monster in THAT area and at THAT time in their history, this young lady would not have been alone at all. I hope she is at peace now. Condolences to all her loved ones. One monster down but at the expense of another good person which is a loss for possibly the whole world. Who knows what she might have accomplished?🙏🏼💔🕊️

My wife and I love your videos. Thanks man. From northern eastern maine
Holy crap. This is the first time I've seen a crime video where the police went above and beyond. Sadly this time it just happened too fast.
“After what he did, sounds like a threat.” Sure does!
Yep. And, since this is Britain, there will be an appeal and he'll have his sentence reduced to a year or so.
@robgrey6183 there isn't going to be an appeal. 27 years before parole board even considers release.
In the US as well. Plea deals and out on bond before he gets two years and five yrs probation. @@robgrey6183

Second you said Kingston Upon Hull, I thought 2 things:
"Ew, Hull.", and
"I know exactly where this is going."
I lived nearby at the time (off Newland Ave) and it was absolutely awful - like a lot of other people have said already, it sent shockwaves throughout the area.
A young woman in a vulnerable state alone late at night. It's a recipe for disaster. I've never gone to any party where I couldn't leave if my friends wanted to go home. Safety first, there are really monsters out there waiting for vulnerable people to prey on.
