There was even a statement by Levy, “I was worried about losing 10 important players.” As if sacking a manager right before a final would be something that would convince them to stay. A Carabao Cup would have been a good starting place.
Levy wanted Jose gone and if they had won the trophy, Levy would have even less justification for sacking Mourinho. Growing pains are a thing after all.

But it seems that they are so desperate to win titles at all cost that they sack everybody as soon as they have their first crisis.
So at least in Mourinho's case they should have known that they need to give him time. Conte on the other hand is known for winning silverware quickly, but the clubs he managed before have better conditions to work with. I think that was a big misunderstanding in the first place. If we're honest it goes back to poch.
We had an unbelievable squad under him, but under him alderweireld, vertonghen, winks, rose, Alli, dier combined dropped from over £200 millions worth of players to £70 million at most. (yes vertonghen and alderweireld had their age factor into that but their form fell off much more quickly than it should have).
He had a higher overall net spend than Liverpool in his time there and broke Tottenham's transfer record three times including players like Sanchez who was unbelievable at Ajax and flopped at Tottenham.
He moaned that he didn't get a say in transfers so we gave him control over transfers and he spent £53 million on ndombele, £40 million on lo celso, and £25 million on sessegnon leaving us with practically no defence (the best part being that he personally picked lo celso over Bruno Fernandes).
Since then we've brought in players like hojbjerg, Romero, Emerson, kulusevski, bentancur who have all been great yet under him nearly every signing flopped.
He's known for his youth record but the only youth player he bought through was Harry winks who then completely lost form under him anyway.
Clearly players like foyth, Edwards, walker peters, and madueke were good enough for Tottenham but he didn't give youth a chance.
The fact he didn't win anything during 15/16 or 16/17 when we likely had the best squad in the league doesn't help and nor does starting an injured Harry kane over Lucas in the CL final (not that we would have won that either way probably)

I'm sure the culture at the club could improve, but if you look at the position Spurs were in when Levy took over (averaging 11th) and where they are now, it feels ridiculous to say he's the problem. Fact is, they overperform relative to their commercial stature, and this stadium will be cash cow when it's paid off. I'm not a Spurs fan but I just don't get why Spurs fans so readily blame Levy when the real problem is that this league is full of team who have vastly more spending power

They’ve only ever won the league twice, and the last time was over 60 years ago. I still remember when Tottenham were a literal mid-table team in the 2000s. Getting to the last 16 of the CL and finishing in the top 4 is an overachievement for Spurs. Idk why Tottenham’s managers and some fans & pundits expect so much more.

So unless he's willing to proper invest I think he needs to sell the club why they are still in champions league position to try and get more money for them as if they drop out of that the value will drop

It is so reminiscent of Arsenal after the Emirates was built its scary and I have a feeling Spurs will be in limbo just like Arsenal were for the next decade unless they stumble upon a saviour manager. They consistently make the most ludicrous passes under pressure, and completely miss advantageous passes that would open up their offense. Whatever they're drilling in practice they need to drop immediately and focus on getting their passing game figured out because right now it's a complete embarrassment. Most header and corner goals because they can't actually figure out how to pass into good offensive positions, so it's nothing but cross and hope Kane can head it in.

Klopp had to build at Liverpool, but when he had his foundation in place, the club backed him by buying Van Dike & Decker to get over the line, Spurs didn't do that with Poch. If you look at last nights game, one thing stands out like a sore thumb, playing under pressure, Everton are Spurs can't & that's what Conte was saying.
Go back to the year Leicester won the leauge & people will say that Spurs lose the leauge in that Battle of the Bridge game, for me they didn't, they lost it in the game before at home to it was either WBA or Stoke, I can't remember which. Is it fear, a lack of self belief, or is it just that for to long Spurs have excepted living on easy street ?
Wenger said earlier in the season, it's not in Spurs DNA to go for a leauge, & don't get me started on Sir Alex's, look lads it's Tottenham, can there be a more condemning statement about a football club than that ?
