Just purchased EZdrummer 3 on Sunday. This is one of the most enjoyable bits of software I've purchased. I'm very familiar with the whole piano roll thing but this is so much more intuitive. Great videos, devouring one after the other. Thanks for the quality work. Be well.
I need to get more famillar with ez drummer 3. I keep reverting back to ez drummer 2 because it's what i'm used to but with the stuff i'm writing i have to start messing with the grid more. Videos like this are helping me get used to the new program. Great video.
Hey Shawn. I'm not a metal guy but pretty much everything you teach transfers over to any other style. The software tips and tricks and the workflow ideas give me a lot to dig in to. Thanks again, brother.
Right on, Shawn! I'm glad you brought up the fact that the drummers don't have three hands. Often, I find myself taking out hi-hat parts when a fill happens, as there's no way that a real drummer can do a quick snare or tom fill and keep the hi-hat going at the same time.
Superb video again Shawn showcasing a variety of techniques to create the drums for a song, whatever the genre. I always learn something. I didn’t realise that humanise worked on inputting single notes. I thought it was just for humanising a collection of notes already on the grid. 😊
A Dave Lombardo drum fill wound always be welcome, but it would start on measure 8 in this example. Paul Bostaph would have started on measure 7. Peanut gallery comments aside, some drummers are very emotional when playing. I can picture when I would be hitting harder on a stroke or hesitating just a bit on another, or a rimshot to catch a ring (not a mistake). It is great how you incorporate this consideration into your composing. Since you mentioned Hatebreed, yeah they gotta be thinking like this. Another great video.
Hey Shawn, thank you for all your content! I watched already a lot of the tuts. Funniest moment was when you fell of the chair in one of the Videos...😅🤘🏻 I have a question about the randomizer in the Timing section. What is the difference between the randomizer and the humanization feature on the top left of the menu?
Thanks for saying! Without extensively testing. I bet randomize is not predictable, and humanize is a set algorithm. I humanize back beats mostly, and randomize hits or non-backpacks.
great tutorial, I´ve tried to edit the drum track inside EZD3 but the playhead in the Grid Editor is not in sync what the music I´m hearing so it´s very difficult to edit, when I hit play it starts before in EZD3 than Cubase 13.
See if other plugins have the same behavior. If so, I would ask a Cubase group. If not, try bringing it up with TT support. Same thing happens in Reaper, but there is a setting that fixes it in Reaper, not in EZ.
It's a great question. The backbeat, is where the snare typically hits in a typical beat. In this case, the toms are playing the backbeat... on the 2 and the 4.
@@ShootieSchool thanks bro, unfortunately its a big deal but im cool. im old and had a pretty good run, besides one look around and the world is pretty f_d up so...lol i'll do my best to catch the next livestream. keep pluggin man i got faith in ya, goals with hard work always pay off.

Great to hear and welcome to EZDrummer!
Keep kicking ass Shawn, I love how you explain things in the manner You do. Thanks for all the effort, and Thanks Toontrack
Thank you for taking the time to say!
Your tutorial videos for all the TT products are the best on the internet by far. You have a gift for this kind of teaching.

You know it, Ron!
Just got EZ drummer 3 based largely on your videos. It's a joy to learn from you.
Awesome! Welcome to EZDrummer! You'll love it.
Another great video Shawn, loved it!
Thank you for saying!
Good stuff bro, definitely learning alot here.
Great to hear!
Holy moly I was just about to look up this subject and boom.
Awesome!
Good stuff Shawn, your channel is great, it shows how to use the VST's to get realistic and great sounding music!
Thank you, Tim!!

Thank you. Keep an eye on that button. It will toggle on and off automatically. In a rare occasion, it does not do what you want.

@@ShootieSchool Ok yes that make sense. I think I got it now. Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the video! How do you zoom in and out of the Grid Editor using shortcuts? Thanks again !!!
Nevermind, I went back and watched it again and you mention how you zoom in. Thanks!!!
I cannot find the links to the other previous Metal Month Series in the description.

I’m going to play my stupid question of the day card and ask, what are “backbeat toms”? (Sorry, I feel like I should know that by now.)
It's a great question. The backbeat, is where the snare typically hits in a typical beat. In this case, the toms are playing the backbeat... on the 2 and the 4.
@@ShootieSchool Thanks! So frontbeat is on 1 and 3? 😁
Hmmm... Never heard of it. It's weird that there are only so many beat names.
@@ShootieSchool I was half-kidding. It’s funny that we have backbeats, but not frontbeats though huh?
If I realized, I would have laughed!
hey bro hope you are doing well, ive been really sick, sorry to be MIA
Dude, I hope it's no big deal on your end. Certainly noticed your absence. Get well!
