- The time is here where many World of Warcraft players are choosing their main class and/or spec for the next expansion, the War Within. Last video, I explained why I was choosing to ditch the Druid for the new expansion, and here I explain what I've chosen, with the reasons why!

Once A dk, always a dk. Played it since Legion, never looked back. I've never questioned my decision since. I try other classes and after 3-4 dungeon runs I miss my dk
Dk is a very cool and nice class I love it but I just can't play it something feels off about it you know if you want to go to have a snack or a drink at a inn and then you think about it you are a walking death plague killing machine who's just casually chilling in a local bar? Seems kinda weird to me you know that's my weird problem but maybe it's just me XD
I just hate the look of the death and decay effect so much. That pixelated blue thing. The red one is ok. Also not that big of a fan of the oldschool zombie look... like in the plaguelands ... for pets. If there would be customisation possible and they would update some stuff count me in.
@@hedonismbot3274 that's a big weakness of the class for sure, but i'm sure they're going to improve something soon. We already got the new abom pet and death charger which look fantastic.

haha I know what you mean mate, like the fantasy rp of it seems off, I understand. Guess if you think about it like, the DK's initially didn't choose this 'life' they were raised, under the Lich King's control then broke free, and they are present in the fights for the horde and alliance, doing good for the world, so they do fit in, and with their minds back under their control, I guess they'd want to live a relatively 'normal life' although... I don't think we'd need to eat haha, it is an odd one, I get you!
Playing for "fun", rather than "meta", is something more players need to start doing. It makes the game a lot more enjoyable. 🙂 I personally had the exact same issues with Hunter, with it having defensives that were on a 3min CD, and not good enough traps to make up for the poor self-healing. But now that they received a rework, I will be going SV Hunter all the way.
Agree but as solo player who almost does everything in lfg its hard to play off meta
A lot of people who play 'meta' are not even close to the level where meta matters, I have a friend who always follows meta because, 'why would I play second class citizens', his higher key this season is a 13, and did not clear mythic raiding, his doing this every season

Never happening and this is a bad advice for some1 that wants to enjoy the game on a competitive level. Playing a class that you find less fun but gets into groups consistently is times better than playing something you find super fun and staying in valdrakken all day because noone wants you. I know the drill play your own key, find friends bla bla but at the end of the day you do need to pug other peoples keys as well to progress and those friends that people keep talking about may not be ok with dragging a sub optimal spec in higher content. But if your peak is clearing hc raid and doing weekly 10 keys by all means dont play meta.

A yeah. I've had many in my guild picking DK. I think we're going to see an uptick in their population. They have mostly fun hero talents and the rework for blood is excellent.
bliz need to focus more on the fun and fantasy of the classes and the cosmetics of the class , they all need that distinct cool factory like your reason for playing the DK
I played 10+ years as Feral mostly , got 16 of them, all special forms unlocked from Legion and as a Feral the ONLY alts I was ever able to enjoy were, Hunter, Ret, Frost/Blood DK, Frost Mage. I think I will main either Hunter or Ret in TWW.
I mained my DK, from the moment I created it in WotLK, up until Legion where I finally decided to main something new. I had alts of all kinds, but my DK was ME. I've never been able to escape my DK, even in Legion and beyond. It was an extension of who I identified as ingame, it was a character that was exalted and befriended by all the factions, that held all the achievements and accomplishments, and I was known for my DK's name.
My SO then told me: "It's not your DK's accomplishments, they're YOURS. Your DK isn't {insertdkname}, YOU are {insertdkname}" and a flip was switched and suddenly felt truly free to experience and main other classes and specs.
My DK will always be my safe character, but I properly mained hunter and DH in DF and will be maining prot warr and guardian druid for TWW :) I have to say, the whole Warband system does make the choices much easier!
Not maining my rogue, I enjoyed playing arcane mage in s3 of df a lot, so I'm gonna main mage for the foreseeable future until they do something good with rogue.
I really wish they would make the specs easier to play and have more unique playstyle for each spec.

I love your choice! Believe it or not that class is always second to my priest, I've played it for a long time and seen the changes it's been through.
To not spoil it in the comments I'll just say I agree about your points about that class! Can't wait to see more videos with it 😄 And if it doesn't stick, it doesn't! As long as you are having fun!

My main has been a Warlock since I started WoW, but I did play balance Druid quite a bit in Dragonflight, and that’s what I’ve decided to main in War Within.

DK, Warlock and Hunter will always have me sit at character select screen pondering what to main this xpac. Tough decisions 😭
I have almost the exact same feelings as you! I've stuck with the druid because I LOVE the convenience. Stealth, Lot's of speed, availability of speccs. And I have too been eyeing the Unholy DK, but previously I've had some gripes with it that seems to be fixed in the War Within. Also to the point of being semi- range. Recently I've been looking at Retri/Survival/Unholy and the DK is just so much fun
That was my pick as well. I started leveling him in Chromie Legion as Frost but thought I'd give Unholy a chance and what a difference. I love the Unholy spec and in Legion, the DK story was the best to me thematically. I haven't played on Beta yet and probably won't so I can be surprised. I plan on taking it slow and reading all the quest dialogue which I usually just glance over. Right now I'm finishing up with Dragonflight and should be ready to go when TWW hits. You made a great choice and validated mine as well.

I've never liked unholy but everything I'm hearing from TWW sounds fantastic. prolly give it another look myself!
monk without a doubt. my main since MOP cause simply verstatile and the most fun.
I’m digging in right now and checking class fantasy to see which one aligns with what interests me the most. As of right now, I still don’t know what I want. I typically do the damage role, don’t really care about the rotation complexity and don’t mind tanking but dislike healing. I have noticed that I tend to not connect with plate classes very much and Druid doesn’t strike my fancy. If anyone has any suggestions on something for me to look into I’d gladly check it out.
i made the mistake in dragonflight going monk blind and i sticked to it until mythic raid i didnt enjoy it but regearing and being behind wasnt fun so this time watching such a guide is sure helpful
DK is an excellent main for TWW. It is shaping up to be extremely good (all three specs, assuming they fix Blood), and it’s rare. So, it’ll be easier to find a Mythic raid slot with it, and you’ll have some M+ demand too.
I’ve never cared about numbers. Comfort of play and connection to character is what matters most to me. I’ve been obsessed with DK in the past. Right now I’m struggling between Monk, Rogue, and Hunter. Specifically Windwalker, Outlaw, and Survival. DK is always calling though. Might be my PvP focused alt but wouldn’t be surprised to choose it at last moment.
I've mained paladin (holy/ret on and off since Mop) and was thinking of going shaman. They look so fun in TWW. But no...
I've not played retail much since mid Shadowland when my guild died (lawsuit, bad content etc). I've played classic, hc and other games. But I have been missing the good times on my retail paladin, and looking forward to stepping into those shoes once again sometime. So after a few years absence, the light is calling me home. ☀️
Also glimmer being gone is a big plus, I love the melee healer playstyle, but glimmer overstayed its welcome. I'm thankful it allowed holy to become melee healers, but it's time to move on from it.
Oooooh, the paladin returns, hope you enjoy it as it is now, paladins always seem to be a solid pick dont they!
Riders of the Apocalypse is so cool, love the lore and theme of Unholy DK in TWW.

Yeah it has to be the coolest one right, so thematic and really plays on it. Was hoping for the same with the dark ranger hunter talents tbh, but it just simply feels like a 1 button addition to the class and not much visual flavour if that makes sense. Do like the fact they've added a bit more complexity in some ways, to the hunter kit, and the survivability improvements are nice, utility too. Definitely not a bad choice of main by any means!
@@LazyBeastGaming same, was hoping for much more. Overall, I was pretty disappointed by the Hunter hero talents in beta testing, they thematically added very little and didn’t feel like they changed much at all.

Mained unholy dk last season and this season. It was great, looking forward to continuing this in the war within. I mainly like that I can just kick more things with my grips since most other dps are completely braindead and don’t know what kicking spells is
I will be going MM hunter as I have since I switched from mage half way through WOTLK. Love that character and I will play it whether it's a time where it's at the top or bottom of the "meta". There is always alts when you wanna switch it up for a run or two. :D

TY very helpful insights.. I've played druid since I started playing at the release of burning crusade and am currently having a good old wobble at choosing my main and my warband.
I will go for a triple: mage dk and lock but mage prob will be my main both frost fire and spellslinger looks awesome
Only ever played blood dk , holy priest , and mainly marksman hunter in all the years on / off of WoW. Thinking im going to switch up up and main dev evoker , flameshaper in particular. Although i have never actually played it and end game , so we will see.
Good choice dk is a fun class that's normally good in one spec or another in raid, M+ and pvp.
what I do not understand, is with the DK being the polar opposite to the paladin in terms of theme , why not just give them their won divine steed type ability. movement is the only reason I REFUSE to play a DK, and the new hero talent convenience does not cut it enough for me.
Sticking with my usual for TWW. Played a DK since Wrath. Though, shadow priest should be fun as well.
I've been playing 20 years since BWL released. Mained a druid all the way through until Cata where I experimented with a holy paladin and a fire mage. Didn't play much in MOP but I did a warlock and of course made a monk. Skipped WoD. Legion however immediately made me come back and I mained a monk. That was so much fun. Continued on my monk through BFA. Went ret paladin all through shadowlands and DF. The whole reason I dropped my monk was because I LOVED mistweaver when it was a ranged spec. I can't stand fistweaving. It's not fun. Same reason I don't like disc priest or the melee version of holy paladin. But now that we have options it's back to monk again baby!! Especially with the changes to all 3 specs including that we can heal as a caster once again and we're not forced to fistweave.
Didn't comment on the last video so I'll drop it here. Atm my main is torn. Either brew master and my enhance shaman will be my main alt or my enhancement shaman will be my main and brew my main alt. At least to start. I think because of remix, I'm gonna play more alts than before
Hell yeah, and it's gonna be so much easier for us to play our alts too, good times all round!
Playing for fun is something i had to try to do a few years back. Joined wow late tbc and was around 12. I realized by the time i was 20 i was about numbers and doing the most but not playing for fun. Wasnt till like 25 i stopped chasing numbers and thought what would 12 year old me choose? Now i play what feels fun and has me engaged
I've been waffling between the same two- been a druid main for most of the time I've played, all the way back to rocking a warden staff and badge of tenacity in vanilla. But you're right that the hero specs don't really spark joy- one just doubles down on dots (yawn), and DotC just feels like it tries to recapture the OG feral (before guardian was split off) but comes up short.
DK, though... I like tanking, and blood seems the least hamstrung of all of the options since the nerfs. Unholy feels way better than it did, and frost even has a third option now with DW oblit that really feels solid. And the hero specs are just money.
DK has battle res too! Should be mentioned during utility part imo.
100% - and coming from druid its something I won't have 'lost' either :D
Is dk unholy hard to play in dungeon with randoms? Is there a lot of „ramp up“ to deal dmg? Need a guide man! Nice upload
I wouldnt say its hard to play in a pug but there is some ramp up yeah, on the DK discord there is an example of a build where its a 'no ramp' set up where you can just blast, but it would fall off dps wise in higher keys where things live longer, so there is some wiggle room depending on what content you're doing. Thank you!

Played warrior since vanilla, first time ill main something else, cant decide between ret paladin or elemental shammy. Nice sleep token intro to dk reveal my fave band.
I would def recommend ret out of those choices, unless you feel like really challenging yourself. Picking up ele will involve learning both ranged dps + ele rotation.. The ranged dps part will be harder to learn than ele. As a new ranged dps, you will be constantly having to cancel casts/break rotation to avoid mechanics.. And will often get caught out of position, or out of range of evoker healer/aug etc. Eventually you will learn to position better, and stutter-step etc.. but until then, ranged DPS can be very frustrating (other than hunter). Ret will allow you to carry over all your melee knowledge/skills from warrior.
Hell yeah, glad I chose that song, only discovered sleep token recently but they're brilliant! Don't think you can go wrong with either of your choices there, hope you enjoy yourself either way!
@@ch.kv. This is not that hard and ranged classes have plenty of instant cast spells as well.
@@RealAndyOriginal Difficulty is all relative of course. I pug in the +16 to +18 range, every long-term melee I've played with that tried switching to ranged dps (other than hunter) - has struggled for at least a season to get achieve competitive dps.

I have played discipline and holy priest almost exclusively all of these years. I’m thinking about rolling a different class this time.. I really enjoy being ranged and being able to heal.. I was thinking about resto shaman or resto Druid.. thoughts? I wanna be able to swap to a dps spec but main heals I just don’t like the dot/rot playstyle of shadow.
Elemental shaman is in a really fun place right now

It is indeed, it’s one of the new death knight hero talents, from the riders of the apocalypse tree, allows you to mount your DK mount in combat outdoors!
I love that rump up Unholy has and then hit hit hit like death it self. DK, Shammy, Warrior and will get something else, maybe finally mage? I plan to play a tank - a lot pve this xpac tank tank tank

Rogue has been my first main at the start of every wow expansion i've played but rogue in TWW seems to be disapointing af.
At the moment I haven't really decided on a main. At the moment I think it's gonna be a DH since i like to play both tank and dps and i love DHs movement but i really don't feel the hype for it atm.

Most people who play the meta (like me) is not necessarily cause we want that little extra performance… it is simply because we dont have much time to play and when we do we want a 1 minute queu time rather than spending 30 mins out of the 2 hours I have waiting for someone to inv me or having to make my own group… still I never play the meta if I have no fun with those classes but unfortunately it matters a lot getting into groups

I love paladin but while look really fun, ret doesnt look as strong after some recent changes in Beta (i guess it always needs to be balanced aside from a season or so where its "pretty good" due to being a trinity class with a lot of self-sustain). I want to have fun, but part of that is also being invited easily to groups, not spending an hour of my afterwork in valdrakken getting rejected for M+. Im considering switching to DK as i like the class fantasy and blood might even make me go tank. Also considering monk again, WW was my main in s1 of DF and it was super fun. Mage would be my choice for range.

There's no more main/alt consideration in WW. Warbands made it so we can pick a lot of mains. I always choose 3 mains!
what the hell?! are you me? I literally main druid every expansion, but I was also playing for the wrong reasons (everything you mentioned in your video like convenience with insta-flight form, being able to play every role, I have ADD so it's hard for me to stick to one thing repeatedly, etc. I think this might be the first time I'm not going druid because I hate the state it is in, but who knows, I might return to it out of comfortability. I'm really interested in mage though.
Tough isn't it! What I'd say mate, is dont worry about trying new things like the mage, try not to let yourself get too caught up on the feeling of HAVING to play the druid for any reason, itll always be there, so if mage tickles your fancy, give it a go! Hope you enjoy yourself :)

Survival hunter here. Our new tree is really cleaned up and a lot better than in Dragonflight.

Won't lie - I really disliked DK up until recently (I've been around since vanilla) and it may be one of my warband characters. Blood DK / Unholy are fun and interesting specs to play - hopefully Frost gets some much love. My main is gonna be my Paladin - Holy + hero spec herald of the sun going to bring some good Ol' Warhammer Warrior Priest fun into the mix.
FYI warband is your entire account-the choice on the login screen is just for looks and you can swap them around whenever

In my opinion, nelfs looks cool as DK. They are like Sanlayns. 🧝♂️
Always been a fan of the race since vanilla mate, it's more interesting than human, troll is techincally BiS race for UH DK but I don't wanna play troll, and Nelf has shadowmeld which can be quite useful, also they look decent as male/female and armor looks good on them imo!
