I remember buying this album at a record store, never having listened to them before. Just wanting to listen something….anything new….and being completely blown away by the sound and aggression. I was sucked in immediately and have been ever since!!!

This whole album is an absolute masterpiece. This was my go to album when I felt like I was having one of those days. Still is sometimes, LOL. So glad you are enjoying it.

I remember when this album came out. I was in 10th or 11th grade and didn’t really listen to anything extreme. To me, bands like Korn and Marilyn Manson were about as extreme as it got. That was until I decided to pick this album up. I spent weeks staring at this kid in my classes notebook…the masks freaked me out and yet it made me curious to who this band was. When I first heard the opening track, I was so overwhelmed that I started smiling and head-banging. I used to wear my brothers coveralls and wrap a shirt around my face and mimic Corey haha. Slipknot led me to a whole new world of music that I never knew existed. It was an exciting time to see music change and see this band become who they are today. RIP JOEY and PAUL!!! WE STILL LOVE YOU, CHRIS!!!

Can't believe you had not already reacted to this master piece! No Life and Diluted have been some of my all-time favorite Slipknot songs! Me Inside and Prosthetics have both grown heavily on me lately as well. Best album for sure.
Prosthetics was one of my favorites and the one that originally wasn’t allowed on the album or got taken off cause it was based off true events purity that one it’s crazy as hell

The first time I've ever really listened to Slipknot was at Ozzfest back in the day. I was blown away and have been a fan ever since... Their stage show is just insane.
Definitely need to check out Me Inside from their self titled album

FINALLY!!! Of all the songs a hip hop head should hear from Slipknot, who in which became a fan of, this song is it. Plus it's one of my the best songs off their first album. 🤘🏻
Welcome to my teenage years. Slipknot first album got me into Nu Metal, then really heavy metal with Iowa and indirectly a bit into Rap and now Metalcore. Nothing was like this back then, you had Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears always playing on the radio or tv, lucky when you had something like Metallica playing instead, and bands like Korn and System of a Down were barely starting to get known.
And a side note this video is covering one of my favorite old Slipknot songs I love it

Starting off, this had a much more raw, much more gritty feel to it. Nothing against what they do nowadays, but this felt like that underground, hidden away, you'll probably get cut if you go there type of recording sessions.
While I agree with the sentiment that it's unique in that nobody else really is doing this, it felt like 1999 in the realest way. The Matrix, Resident Evil (which they've done a song for, that you've already reacted to), Rage Against The Machine... '99 anger was a different, more outwardly targeted anger and it's bands like Slipknot and Korn gave listeners the lightning rod to which that anger can be focused. Nowadays we're all pissed, but for different reasons but 1999... that was a visceral anger.
